This book is EPIC.

From werewolves to magic to incredible world-building, this story has everything a fantasy reader could ever need. I was hooked from the first page--what a gripping start to an already powerful read.

And not to worry, no spoilers will be mentioned here. But what I will say is that there is so many details that layer over each other within this book that you, as the reader, are hooked. Sophia spared no expense on her research and development and it pays off so beautifully well in this story. I am so beyond impressed with this world.

From challenging the main character to twists and turns in both fate and storyline, this is an incredible coming of age book that will leave you wanting more. I thoroughly enjoyed Allie and her journey as a sixteen year old girl who must accept that she has the ability to change the world--destiny is a powerful element in this story and it shines beautifully.

Seriously, if you have not read this book--go do it. You will not be disappointed.

4,5⭐ - I loved it so much!

What a great book! So fast paced I never had a chance to get bored, even though the book is a bit lengthy.
The plot and the characters are very well done, they had a good amount of meat around the bones, and the themes felt very realistic.
I have been slumping lately but it didn't stop me from eating this book up 😂

Great book for fantasy readers, I would defenitely recommend!

Fast paced indeed!
In this coming of age, fantasy epic our protagonist is 16 year old Ailie who is slowly growing into the immense powers she will one day possess. But living in a Convent Academy and having the power to open the gates of hell really don't commingle so well. With the help of her werewolf best friend, Ailie vows to discover and reap Revenge for the murder of her would be mother. Will she be able to save this world? Or will she damn us all to hell? Our Fate is in the hands of a brave 16 year old girl.
Beautifully written and constructed. The storyline is intriguing and keeps you on your toes all the way through to the end. The sentence structure and paragraph formation are perfect. You can tell when you're reading this novel that the author is well read.
The only qualm I have is that the author seems to write a bit in the shadow of Stephen King in the sense that she tends to put way too much detail into each scene. So much detail becomes daunting for the reader and it becomes monotonous. Another very small factor that probably would play against the author's writing style is her word usage. While the words that she uses are very beautiful and elegant, some of them are simply not words that are used in the common tongue today. The casual layman reader would have trouble understanding some of her words. But of course those readers who are like me and read with a dictionary are good to go on that point.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I feel that the story was very inventive and the plot was very well thought out. The characters were very well developed. I don't want to give too much away but let's just say I'm anticipating the second book's release 😉

This book was scrumdiddlyumptious 🤌🏼 it was exciting and while complex it was so fun to read. The magic and the characters were very unique and I felt very attached to them early on. I really enjoyed our fmc Ailie and her growth and development throughout the book. She is a younger fmc than what I typically see in a fantasy and I loved how she still was not going to let the fact that she is a young girl stop her from holding her own and protecting the ones she loves. There were plenty of twist and turns that had me on the edge of my seat and shedding some tears. I was captivated by the story and the relationships between all of the characters. The chapters were a little long but. I promise it is sooo worth it!

An Epic Read

From the get-go, it was clear that this book was going to be an enthralling and dense story, a fantasy fable across time and space. And it did not disappoint.

The journey follows Ailie as she discovers power within and tries to make sense of it in her bitter, tormented surroundings. Twisted by fate and manipulated by unknown forces, Ailie traverses new places to try and find her roots and explain her mysterious power, her vanished parents at the forefront of her mind.

I was rooted from start to finish with Legends of Astræa, a fantastic read before Christmas. Though it’s surprisingly lengthy for a book of this type, it still reads beautifully and picks up its pace as it moves on. Sophia Alessandri has a clear and fantastic grasp of the written word!

I won’t spoil the ending!

Cupid’s Arrow is the type of book that reminds me of why I love reading so much.

From the superb world building to the pontific prose, Alessandrini crafts a narrative like none other.

The author touches on religious dogmas as well as Greek mythology. There are also paranormal aspects, such as the main character’s shape-shifting best friend and vampires.

The first in a series, the coming of age plot focuses on sixteen year old Ailie. Determined to avenge the murder of her mother-figure, Mother Clarisse, this protag is easy to root for.

I received a copy of the eBook from the author for use in a virtual book tour. These opinions are my own and are being expressed without bias.

More than a page-turner, this is a wild ride! Legends of Astraea – Cupid’s Arrow is a thrilling, fast-paced, coming-of-age epic that includes ancient civilizations, primordial beings, passionate vampires, werewolves and legendary royal immortals. If you like epic tales like The Shannara Chronicles, the mysticism of Dan Brown stories, and the literary legend of Faust, you will appreciate author Sophia Alessandrini’s beautiful descriptions of magical and historical places, as well as references to Greek literature and mythology. Our other-worldly protagonist Ailie has healing powers, the fighting skills of a Samurai warrior and possesses a sharp wit and playful irreverent voice that makes this complex story accessible to a YA audience. This is a story about friendship, loyalty, trust, perseverance and essentially the power of love. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. 5/5 Stars!

There is a trick that many authors cannot pull off, to give details to a scene and yet your imagination to fill in the holes.

Tale of the Take; The book is well written, and the methodical pace builds tension thought the story. At the Center of the story there is a love affair, and romance and interesting characters. I was taken back at by the Werewolf best friend initially. I kept waiting for the werewolf to pounce and gobble up Ailie in a version of Red Riding hood. I liked the Werewolf character keeping me off balance with trust issues, probably centered in my own psyche. I like the scenes where Ailie is questioning herself, did that happen or was it something else. Gave me pause wondering what was real and what is magical. I liked the magic, it was focused and fast, and worked. As cool as the magic was slick, the fight scenes were gritty. There is a trick that many authors cannot pull off, to give details to a scene and yet your imagination to fill in the holes. This is done well, A lot to the imagination, but still painted a good fight scene, with action counters and attacks, slips and maneuvering. I liked the duality of the Angels even if fallen, the descriptions were angelic and somehow over encrusted. I liked the mythology woven in the story. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Well Done

I rated this story 3/5 stars, let me tell you why.

We get thrown into a violent situation, and I was hooked onto the story from the start. I wanted to devour it, because the mythical part of it was so fresh and new and I felt like I couldn’t get enough. But especially in the beginning of this book, there were so many words I’d never heard before (English is not my mother tongue) that I kept on getting ripped out of the story to look up their meanings, which felt wasteful. This happened a few times, luckily less the further into the story we got. For that I was grateful, because what a whirlwind! I couldn’t put it down.

I’m enthralled with the idea of Ailie, her background, the secrets surrounding her, but she fell flat for me. She feels incredibly spoiled, which makes no sense considering her upbringing, emotional, impulsive and childish — i often had to remind myself she was sixteen, but she felt younger. Ash intrigues me and I am looking forward to get to know Demyan and Raphael better, and to see more of Francis and Ėmil. I appreciated Gavril and Nicholas and am curious about their paths.

I will be reading the second book because the story really intrigued me, but I hope Ailie becomes a more thoughtful and developed young woman, because getting frustrated with the MC kind of ruined it for me.

I received an ARC of Cupid’s Arrow in exchange for an honest review.

This story was insane! Alessandrini is an author that not only provides thorough details she will put an enchantment on you, making you incapable of setting this book down! The world is so intricate and detailed that once you understand this world it is easy to fall in love with the characters. The only issue I had with the story was the thought process of the kingdom. The kingdom seems to be stuck in the 1800s when women were property and not individuals. How the main female character, Allie, handles this thought process though made me love her even more! I love that Allie has no problem putting the men that overstep in their place, especially Prince Nicolas! I will have to admit that watching Allie and the Strzyga prince bicker was cute!

At the end of the story, I was so happy for Allie’s future and I am excited to read the next book! This series is called Legends of Astræa. Book one is available on Kindle Unlimited currently and Book 2 will be out on October 1, 2022. You can preorder book 2 now!

This book combines a young adult coming of age along with a fun combination of powers, mythology, heaven and hell, vampires, werewolves, and ghosts. I love how the main character navigates this intricate world.

I really enjoyed the complexity of the authors vision for this book. The descriptions are captivating and the world building is thorough and gave me an easy vision of everything that was going on. I also love that she used words here and there that I had to look up the meaning of (not a lot, but I love being challenged with my vocabulary). Like the word “effluvium” noun an unpleasant or harmful odor, secretion, or discharge.

I highly recommend this book for people who love maturish-young adult fiction.

I love the world the author has created in this novel. There is so much magic it captivates you from the very start.

There are so many wonderful characters in this novel but Nicholas is by far my favourite. I loved all of the scenes, and by extension the drama, between him and Ailie. I am hoping we will see more of him in book two as I feel there is a lot more to come in regards to their relationship.

This book delivered in terms of world building, plot and character development so I’m really looking forward to following Ailie’s story in book two. I would recommend this book to lovers of YA fantasy.

The story follows Ailie as she learns of her true heritage and of the ways of the mythological people called Strzyga. She meets many friends and enemies- most of which are both at different points in time. The story flowed SO well and Ailie is a strong, smart, determined, stubborn heroin that has a strong sense of duty and is purely loyal. My heart broke when hers broke, I was excited for her when things were going her way, and I definitely felt frustration with the other characters alongside her! Overall, I highly recommend this read- plus, the second book comes out soon!!! About to start our ARC of Cupid’s Curse!

The world in this novel was pretty epic and this was a fast paced, action packed coming of age story. I struggled a little with the main character, Ailie and her emotional way of reacting to most situations. The word ‘crap’ was overused and seemed to be her response to everything. I really liked the supernatural and magical elements of this story, especially the parts that had touches of the mythological.

I received a free ebook of this novel. This review is my honest opinion and is written voluntarily.

BOOK REVIEW:- LEGENDS OF ASTREA

AUTHOR:- SOPHIA ALESSANDRINI

GENRE:- FICTION

FORMAT:- EBOOK

MY RATINGS:- 9.5/10

This is the first book in the series by the author, and the book really made me curious about the next installments in the series, the book has the essence of adventure, love, fantasy, scientific fiction in it, which makes the book more enjoyable.

The story is about a young girl who is 16 year old and her name is Ailie, she is the main and the most powerful character in the story. She is determined to revenge the murder of her would be mother, she has some supernatural powers and they are really potent to change everyone’s to hell but the story is not so simple and plain rather it has lots of twists and turns, she will fall in love and many other suspense awaits you, will she choose to fall in love or doing the right thing ? to know that you will have to read the book, so grab your copies now and start reading the book,

The book is medium paced, and I personally took a week to read the book as I didn’t wanted to finish it in a hurry, I really enjoyed reading this one, if you are a fan of story which is full of twists, turns, mythology, romance, supernatural powers, and action then you should definitely read the book.

When I finished reading I was left with the curiosity that what will the power of cupid’s arrow do, so the book will keep you interested even after you have finished reading the book. I don’t think that it can get any better.

The narration is very professional, I had no problems understanding the author’s words but I feel some may feel little problem in understanding a few words here and there otherwise the book is really nice, don’t read the whole book at once rather read it in parts.

The details were on the point, each scene was beautifully explained by the author, there is no point that you can say that the author could have told us more about the characters. I will be looking out for the next parts, Till then

HAPPY READING

The fantasy in its purest form.

We are going to take a classical coming-of age journey with young Aelie whose path in life began in the closed monastery on the isolated island (gave me chills, no Internet there!). Then her road will continue through the whole world. And mind me, it won’t be one single good old world!

I really liked the ambiance of this novel. Ambiance is something that can help to capture and describe the emotional essence of a place, person, or, like today, a story. Legends Of Astræa has the ambiance of a well-developed modern fairy-tale, classical, unique and recognisable at the same time. The Little Mermaid, maybe…

For me the story was slow-paced, but it does good for it. We have time to enjoy and be absorbed by it with the author’s attentive care to the details and the protagonist’s thoughts and feelings. To my taste, sometimes there was a bit too much of these thoughts described. The author chose the first-person narrative, and this type of narrative is challenging for me. I tend to connect too deeply with characters.

The author did a lot of work for her story, creating, and researching, and creating again. You will find many references to historical events, religions, and myths. All in all, I found the protagonist girl a bit too Supergirl with superpowers that could be enough for a few heroes. But well, she is a lovely Supergirl!

The author delivered for us the story filled with light. There are different types of light a reader is going to distinguish. But be sure, you are in good hands.

If you love fantasy, rather rich fantasy in todays world, you will definitely like this book. Considering the size 754 pages which is significantly high and uncommon in these days, I have devoured the book in flat 5.5 days, and trust me i have had a rejuvinated time reading this book. Its a work of fiction very well and deeply thought and extremely well articulation with not so relatable words, but again its good for readers like me who keeps a pocket oxford dictionary handy always. I am not a storyteller, so plz pardon me as i dont want to share the story here, not even the climax, as it diminishes the hard sweat effort of the author to mesmerize his/her audience. Author Sophia Alessandrini has created a beautiful imagined super natural world layered with Greek Myths, Passionate Vampires, Royal immortals , and Fallen angels. The plot involves 16 year old girl and her pet werewolf who helps her discover her own super powers. It is a fast paced, epic, thrilling , mysterical piece of work which will transit you to a different world of fairy tales, magic and super powers. Overall a book for all genre, readers, kids, teenagers, your love buds, college goers and anyone and everyone. Be it your couch, bus, train, car, or at your office breaks, this is surely a worthwhile story by author Sophia Alessandrini which will entertain its readers. Looking forward forward for more books from this author. Love all!!

This book was great! Had a little trouble at the start due to the complexity of the world and it’s characters but was easily hooked soon after! Ailie was a surprise! I usually can’t stand the poor pitiful me female characters but something about Ailie kept me reading! I’m so happy to say that she steps up! Thank you to Sophia Alessandrini and Katie and Brey PA for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
-
Whooooo! This book is long 😂 I wasn’t expecting it to be, so finishing it in two days felt like a feat to celebrate. It was definitely on the denser side of YA books. Yes, everything is relative and books are for everyone, but I would even venture to say that this is more “YA for adults” than strictly YA? 👀 I wanted to really enjoy this book. Regardless of intended audience, I was hooked by the Cupid’s Curse premise. Greek mythology, heaven and hell, vampire and werewolf lore? It sounded like a buffet of all my favorite fantasy elements. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
-
Though the length was a surprise, it didn’t stop me from reading. I like big books and I cannot lie! 🙌🏽 Physical length aside though, the entire time I was reading I couldn’t shake the feeling that too much was happening. Don’t get me wrong! The world here has so many interesting aspects and there’s a wealth of lore to navigate, but there were so many twists and turns and changes of pace. That’s not necessarily a negative thing, but I started to think that maybe this book would have benefited from being split into at least two books instead of one.
-
I don’t know if it’s been too long since I read a YA book, but I was also felt like Ailie’s age was staring me right in the face. She was a child floating in a sea of hot immortal men. You can tell how young she is by the choices she makes and the way she talks. It felt like everyone was lying to her left and right. I wanted to protect her from everyone at all costs! And I do mean everyone.
-
I felt this book had so much potential. It kept me entertained until the end, but I just couldn’t shake those nagging thoughts. I might give the second book a try eventually, but I’m not entirely certain it’s for me.

Review
Sophia Alessandrini’s Legends of Astraea: Cupids Arrow is an enthralling, coming-of-age story taking places across the ages with amazing world-building, exciting characters, and wonderful prose. Vampires, werewolves, angels and fallen angels, ghosts, and the stellar heroine, sixteen-year-old Ailie, marvelously blend together in a truly riveting fantasy tale. Ailie grows from a young orphan, bullied by classmates at the convent where she lives, seeing the person she loves, Mother Clarisse, killed. Piece by piece, she discovers her destiny and the incredible responsibility she faces. Cupids Arrow is a story that pull you forward page by page, seeking more about Ailie and her world, always guessing who she should trust and who is evil. I don’t usually read fantasy books, but I thoroughly enjoyed Sophia Alessandrini’s wonderful and amazing book.

🏹 HOLY COW! One word for this book. EPIC! The world building that was this book was one large adventure for Ailie, the protagonist. It was an amazing combination of fantasy, the supernatural, destiny, and Greek Mythology. The coming of age, will she change the works story is ageless.

🏹 Fast paced read that kept me entertained from page one. I couldn’t put this book down and read it one sitting. Each page added to the adventure that unfurled in front of me. Though the book was fast paced, it read seamlessly!

🏹 The quality of the writing was magic. Sophia Alessandrini’s time and effort was easily noticed in the quality of the writing, the plot, and the characters. The effort put forth to accurately write about the Greek mythologies was appreciated, as well as being able to write the depth of characters and plot.

🏹 I enjoyed reading about Ailie and her growth as a 16 year old girl with a destiny to fulfill. She easily could have been a one dimensional character with no backbone, but she was the furthest thing from that. She experienced the anxiety and insecurity and fear that a young adult will experience but she also grew as a person and exhibited stubbornness, strength, and self confidence that richly added to the story.

🏹 My Favorite Quote: “Sweet Pea, I promise you, you will enjoy putting the world on its knees.”

🏹 Tropes: Coming of Age, Greek Mythology

Epic YA fantasy read!

Okay, I will say, when I realized how long this book was at first I was worried I would have trouble getting through it. The beginning did take me a bit to get into, the writing is very descriptive which made my progress a bit slower than usual. However, once I got a bit further into the story, I was hooked!

The novel follows Ailie, a 16 year old girl who has grown up as an orphan living a sheltered life on an island in the St Mary's school for girls. She has been bullied and ostracized from her peers. They call her names and bully her endlessly, mainly because of the fact that she is an orphan, and because she seems to be different from the rest of them. Ailie's only friend, who she considers family, is one of the women who run the school. When she dies, all seems to go to hell for Ailie. Her world begins to unravel as she discovers there is so much more to her life than she could've ever imagined.

There are many twists and turns in this story, and I loved that it wasn't predictable. The author did an incredible job of building a unique world and power system that kept me guessing. The book is written beautifully, but it is definitely more dense than your typical YA novel, which I definitely was not expecting. However, it didn't take away from my enjoyment at all. If anything, it made me slow down a bit when reading so I could really soak in the words.

This was a really beautiful story and I can't wait to read book 2!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review, all opinions are my own.

“ ‘Sweet Pea, I promise you, you will enjoy putting the world on its knees.’ “

Legends of Astraea: Cupid’s Arrow is a ya coming of age fantasy ridden with the paranormal.

Ailie, an orphan left at a convent, is thrown into a life of magic and the supernatural after someone close to her is killed.

I loved all the paranormal characters in Cupid’s Arrow; vampires, werewolves, and ghosts, oh my.

While a bit long for a typical YA fantasy, I really enjoyed reading. The mythology, long forgotten civilizations, the attention to detail is amazing.

I loved all of the characters and the relationships and their dynamics is so well done. I absolutely loved it.

Rather such a unique tale Alessandrini spins, Cupid’s Arrow is a must read for any ya fantasy lover.

Thank you to Katie and Brey PA and Sophia Alessandrini for the opportunity to read Legends of Astraea: Cupid’s Arrow.

“She has two hearts, and she causes demonic poltergeists.”
