Never judge a man by his looks, even when he has tentacles.
Relion has so much more going for him. Protective. Playful. Caring. He’s become my best friend and it doesn’t even matter that we’re male and female. Or that we’re two entirely different species. I have to get married and I’m socially awkward and inexperienced and he’s going to teach me all I need to know about making a prime marriage catch.
Tera is determined to marry an Earther male. A hairy one.
She may be beautiful. Exotic. Graceful. My best friend. But the stubborn female is a bit low on intelligence. She has no idea that no male can ever measure up to her. That she's worthy and unique.
And I have no idea how hard I can fall for her.
This is the fourth book in the Matched Program Series.
The gorgeous species called Britonians had left their planet with a dying sun. They reached an agreement with Earth to clean up our ruined planet with their modern technology in exchange for a new place to live. If it were up to women, we'd allow them to live just to look at them. The Brits are amazing, gold skin, tall and muscular, like avenging angels.
When they hear that most of our men died in the third World War, leaving the sexes vastly mismatched, they offer to begin a Match Program with a distant planet in need of females. It will be completely professional, personality-matching, compatibility, and the possibility of procreation. Plus, the human females will have a guaranteed choice after six months: Remain with your alien mate, or come home to Earth.
None of us expected the gorgeous alien species to introduce us to horrifying monsters.
Join my fantasies! Get lost in worlds that twist and turn with plot and give you a feel-good, happy ending. Grow lovestruck by the heroes, each one unique. Find them perfectly matched by their heroine, strong women like you and I who know exactly what they want and how they want it—searing, sexy, and passionate.
Remember, true love is out there--beyond the mundane. Life is magical, come read about my mine!
Yay! We got Tera and Relion's story. If you haven't read the previous books, I highly recommend you start with book 1. It was a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes, it seems it's never easy for these guys. I love that Tera and Relion are best friends. That gives a unique twist to this story. But Tera is determined to marry a male from earth. Her prospects aren't really the best, but she has a secret and that's the reason why she is moving forward. Relion has other plans. This book was quite an adventure! And the ending was SO satisfying. Fans of the series will understand. I'm hoping Marks has a couple more of these stories up her sleeve, but we will see! If you haven't read her Xeno Sapiens series yet, then what are you waiting for? 4 stars!
I have enjoyed every book in this series!! Loved the friends to lovers and it being all about the FMC needing to marry someone else. Loved getting to know about this couple. Hopefully more are coming in this series!!
I love this series, every story reveals new layers of the worlds the characters live in and all the characters are unique and well developed. Tera and Relion were both so strong and sweet, and their story was everything I hoped it would be. I love the friends to lovers trope, especially when everyone else sees it before the two main characters.
Some of my favorite parts: * Relion admitting he loves being around menstruating women because he gets to binge on chocolate and ice cream and cuddle up and watch movies. And how annoyed he is when he realized he missed the last round and wants it to be planned better so he can be there.
* The interactions with Tera's brother. I don't want to give anything away, but I loved how positive all of her interactions with him were and how the Pimeons accepted him.
* How the betrayal was handled. There was never going to be an easy decision for both characters and each did what they thought they had to. I thought the forgiveness was pretty realistic. I think probably everyone has said things in anger that feel true, but when we calm down and look at the person and try to understand where they were coming from it's easy to start to forgive. As someone who did fall in love with her best friend, I feel like that has always been the case for us. Even when I want to str@ngle him, I can't help loving him. Lol!
This book was not as dark as the previous books and I'm happy to see that conditions on Earth are improving, especially for women. And was I ecstatic to see the President finally getting some sweet, sweet justice? Yes, yes, I was.
I hope the author writes several more books in this series. I am definitely not ready to say goodbye to the Pimeons, the Britonians, or the women from Earth who finally have a chance for a happy future.
One of the best series I've read in years and I really hope Rena Marks revisits this world often! In this 4th book Relion and Tera find more than best friendship is their relationship. They connected when both were called up to leadership roles in Anya's story in the last book. They started out as coworkers, graduated to friendship that further deeper into best friends until both of them looked at each other and realized they were truly madly deeply in love with one another! As always there is more to the story, the evil president is up to no good Tera is under agreement not to speak about something very important in her last and she's also determined to marry a human males even if she loves another. Relion once he truly realizes the extent of his feelings for Tera will do anything to make sure he's the one who gets to love and take care of her. I loved this book! The main characters were so believable their friendship and funny banter had me laughing out loud more times than I can write. But the progression of friends to lovers was beautiful to watch and a pleasure to read! This is a must read highly recommend on my list. If you haven't read and of this series I highly suggest you do you will not be disappointed! 🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖
This is positively the most enjoyable book in this series. The ml and fl are biggest jokesters with the biggest hearts. The fl strives to care for her family, while the ml strives to take care of her. It's a rarely seen (in spicy romance novels) friendship turn to romance, aaaand not just any friendship; so deep of a friendship that they have been practically dating already and didn't even realize it. There's also a ton of drama in this one; things from previous books that get more light shined on them and the mystery behind the collars the dancers are forced to wear. It was nice that not only do the main characters of this book get their HEA, but also the other girls and even the whole planet, though you'll have to read the book to find out exactly how all that happens 😉 Trust me, it's worth the journey. And yes this is a steamy read, and pretty quickly into the book, however there isn't too many of those scenes walked through, but each one is written well, aside from, in my opinion, their "interactions" being just a little too short. Buuuut I'd say the dirty talk made up for it 😏
My only dislike/confusion was when the ml and fl were going to see the Brit's home, but it didn't describe how they went from the living room, into a pod. I re-read it a couple times and it just didn't make any sense to me.
One of my favorite series had a brand-new friends to lovers trope come out that I immediately couldn't wait to devour! Wanting The Monster is a sexy, fun, sizzling hot romance that was sweet and amusing and exhilarating. I couldn't believe how good this friends to lovers trope was. I'm not a huge fan of the trope like I used to be, but when you get sexy monsters involved, it can really make an exceptional difference.
Relion is a GORGEOUS tentacled hero who is friends with a human woman, Tera who thinks she wants to marry a human man. However, Relion is more than determined to prove to her that he is HER man. I honestly loved the sweet and fun banter between these two. You could sense the affection and love right away and as their relationship progressed, things went from a slow burn to an inferno in no time and made things even more delectable. Tera is a real sweetheart in my opinion. I really loved her personality and the way she moved through life. She really fit Relion and vice versa and I couldn't love these two more! This book made me love the friends to lovers trope again and I honestly can't thank Rena Marks enough for that.
Wanting The Monster gets a DELICOUSLY ENTERTAINING FIVE SCORCHING HOT STARS! I freaking LOVE these tentacled heroes!
This is the third book in a series, and you definitely need to read the first two. I didn’t and I was so confused by the “dancers” in their collars who prepared men for the milk barns… Yeah, there are no cows involved….
I can appreciate the amount of world building that went into this series. However, I didn’t particularly like any of the characters. Seriously, why do they all giggle so much? Also, Tara’s abrupt switch from being angry, heartbroken, and betrayed to all lovey-dovey was, perhaps, in character for someone so immature and flighty but also unrealistic, nobody holds on to anger and betrayal like a human woman. And….this was another plot solely propelled by the main characters inability to communicate. Tara could have simply explained why she needed to marry a human and asked her friends to help her find a different solution or, once Relion figured everything out and found a solution, he could’ve just sat her down and explained it all….But no. We have to have ALL the drama…
Nothing is better when the bad guy gets his just reward! But to get to that, first, we back track to the end of the last book as a recap. That’s how we start this book in the Monster series. But, in a more detailed description on the friendship and training between Tera and Relion.
Tera is about to age out of the dance troupe. She needs to land a rich husband for a special reason. Not knowing how to flirt to attract a potential husband, Relion takes it upon himself to train her in safety and flirting.
Although Tera wants a human man, Relion wants her. And the plan is set in place. Be sure to catch the incredible ending. It all comes together and explains a lot.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm very much enjoying this series and wanted to hold off my review until I got through all or most of them. The writing style is fun and fresh and the characters are hilarious and very easy to connect to. However there are some continuity errors that a book nerd like me just can't ignore. And without giving away too much, a couple of overly convoluted scenes that didn't really make sense. I was hoping over time that the author might have ironed out these kinks in her books but unfortunately it does carry on throughout. A very good series that's definitely worth a read but if you're a continuity freak like me, be warned, some of it just doesn't make sense.
Rena has given us another fantastic book with our favorite tentacled heros. Relion is absolutely in love with Tera but doesn't realize it until she tells him she's got to secure a good marriage by the end of her term with the dance troupe.
Tera has to make a good match to ensure her little brother can continue to go to a special school for kids with special needs. She can't say anything about her brother because of the contract she signed with President Eric.
Relion finds out she's eligible for the mate match, and volunteers.... will Tera forgive him? Or will she turn her back on the alien who stole her heart.
Wanting The Monster is book four in the series Sweet & Steamy Brides/The Match Program by author Rena Marks. Ok so this might be the last in the series yet there’s potential for more - so let’s keep our fingers crossed!! WTM, is a beautiful story yet with all fairytale like stories there’s something dark always lurking. That darkness tries it best to corrupt all in its path- yet in this book there are individuals- strong individuals (even if that don’t realize that have strength inside them yet) who will do whatever is necessary for those they love. That’s what this book comes down too- love- a love story that will have you believing in HEA’s. Enjoy!!
Wow! Awesome storytelling! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Tera and Relian: Are they best friends? Yes. Does he teach her skills to attract a husband? Yes. Does he want more? Yes. I was immediately charmed by these two in the beginning chapters of this book. Unfortunately, Tera has a specific goal that doesn’t include her best (and very intimate) friend. It was fascinating to meet the Britonians at their home base, to learn more about them (they need their own story!). So many interesting characters I want to follow. A super sexy romance. But, best of all, just deserts well-served.
This is a great, well written, Alien/Human romance. The characters are well developed, interesting, and lovable. Tera and Relion are best friends and share all things. Tera is a member of the dance team and has a younger brother she needs to take care of. She thinks she will have to marry an old man but Relion has other plans. Read to find how they get through all the twists and turns.
Wow - Relion was such a sweet cinnamon roll hero. I just loved the friends-to-lovers action in this story. These books are so comforting to me and fun to read. Every book is different!
This book and number 2 are my favourites so far. I hope the author keeps writing and recommend them for a delightful escape :)
I’m really surprised how much I liked this. I think the super low angst, what happens in the end and the scenes with Kenny really elevated this book above the others in the series that I’ve read. I just really liked it.
Edit: I had this series mixed up with another. The other books I’ve read by this author I’ve really liked. So, not so surprising that I liked this one.
Love it! I am sooooo looking forward to reading more books in this series. There is so much potential here for more books :-)
I wont spoil the ending, but it literally had me cheering outloud, and I went back and reread that part 3 times as it completely blew my mind. I could never have imagined such a perfect ending & I like to think I have a very creative mind.
I loved the ending . I hope Rena Marks writes another book related to to this series and its universe . I totally enjoyed the series. May the ex leader live a long and horrible life 😂
This was another great couple in the series and loved the ongoing story with the President chefs kiss! I can not get enough of these cinnamon roll aliens and this dystopia setting. Looking forward to the next one!
I love the series and it took me some time to get to this one. I’m so glad that this ended the way it did. Mr. President (Eric) deserved everything he got. I also love the subtle reference to Donald the old 80 year creep.
Had to DNF around 60%. I hate to DNF but the writing, story pacing and characters feel so off and different from the first two books, which I actually enjoyed a lot. I’ll keep it short. This wasn’t for me.
I love all the stories in this series! In fact, this might be my favorite series simply because of the vicious and poetic justice the villain receives! Excellent ending for that evil monster!
The third book for me seemed to drag a bit. There was a lot of repetition in point of views and I just had to take a break. However I did finish finally. Overall I did enjoy this series.
