TW: slut shaming

I always said the historical romance genre is like role play. This book is like a beginner cosplayer—the structure is there but its still rudimentary. There’s certain phrases that are overused (brow furrowed, he/she cocked their head), the way its written isnt complex, but the outline of the story about childhood friends of different social classes finding romance had promise. I look forward to seeing how this author develops over time.

Two friends who are afraid to admit they love each other.
This is a truly lovely tale of two friends who love each other but never admit it to each other. These two characters put themselves through so much heartache both think that they were not good enough for each other. Lizzie lives under lies of a scandalous nature and Carson under the belief he is just a no-tilted gentleman. The author has put into the story some great villains and wonderful secrets blended into a first-class piece. This was so good I highly recommend the book. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Plot was ok but badly delivered.
Wouldnt read anything more from the author, their writing style is not to my taste, far too much overhashing and stating the obvious. This whole books plot would have made more sense if ut had been written better and the characters hadnt been such idiots. Maybe I missed a lot since I never read the previous books in the series, but I feel like it was far too much 'you had an affair with a man your a whore' for my taste.
Plus the emotional development was severely lacking. They told you they knew/loved each other but .... there was no real evidence of this.

The characters are complex and genuine with traits and qualities that add depth and diversity, transforming into charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Fiona, thanks for sharing this lil' fella with us.

Some Issues But Great Characters

I absolutely adored the characters in this book. Poor Lizzie, the heroine! She is being treated despicably by the “ladies” of the ton because of false rumors spread by a wicked man. Only her family and her best friend Carson appear to believe her. Carson, the hero, clearly adores her but has never let his feelings be known because he doesn't believe he, as a tradesman's son, is worthy of a duke's daughter—even if his family is wealthy and has influence. His evil sister does something behind his back which is absolutely despicable, especially for a decent man who would want to sort things out well. While I loved the characters and their rocky road to an HEA, I did not like other things about this story. The author had rather large info dumps for the first scenes told from the two viewpoint characters. I never like to see that in a story. It had been a while, too, since I had read the previous books, so I had forgotten some details. A little recap separate from the story, before it started, would have been lovely. I appreciate when authors write a paragraph recap in a later book in a series before the story starts. In this story, I felt like I was thrown into the middle of something that hadn't been explained enough, and I don't like the temporary confusion that could have been easily solved by a brief recap. I also found the writing to be awkward at times. Some turns of phrase don't sound right in my ear as I read, and some words don't seem quite right. However, this story and these characters were so strong that I enjoyed the story anyway despite its flaws.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Lizzie marries her one true love and best friend.

The youngest Seymour sibling, Elizabeth, sister of the Duke of Somerset, seems to have acquired an undeserved reputation as a “light skirt” due to vindictive gossip, and has been shunned by most of the ton. Her best friend, Cason Wallace, whom she has known all her life, stands by her and defends her to all without fail. In addition, Carson is the gentleman that has secretly made Lizzie’s heart flutter almost since she met him.
Unbeknownst to Lizzie, Carson has fallen in love with her and he is determined to protest her as all costs. Because Lizzie is a Duke’s daughter and Carson is a tradesman’s son, he thinks that he is not good enough for her and has not professed his love. After Carson’s sister has set him up with the town’s magistrate’s daughter, whom she thinks is best for the “family”, she announces that they are betrothed without telling Carson the fireworks begin.
This is the story of secrets being told, and the triumph of true love over all adversity with a real HEA for Lizzie and Carson. This is the third installment of the “Seymour Siblings Series’ and having read the first two books, I feel that the characters are old friends and I really want them to be happy. You don’t want to miss this book, and if you have not red the other two in the series you are missing something special.

“Carson can do whatever he pleases, with whomever he pleases."

In the third book of The Seymour Siblings series, Fiona Miers pairs the life-long, best-friends, Elizabeth Seymour, and Carson Wallace. Is there anything sweeter than best friends, finding true love, together? Lizzie has loved Carson for as long as she can remember, but he has never reciprocated the feelings. When Lizzie reputation is in question amongst the ton, it is Carson who rallies to her defense. He is no stranger to gossip, what with the scandal swirling around his own parents. Usually, the best way to salvage a young woman's reputation within the ton, is with a chivalrous marriage. To Lizzie's dismay, Carson's engagement to another woman, has already be announced. With Fiona Miers' " Marrying Her Best-Friend," you can expect drama, angst, family meddling, some villains, malicious intent, emotional turmoil, misunderstandings, shocking twists, surprising turns, and romance. A thrilling read. I received this book as an ARC from Booksprout, and I volunteered this review.

Elizabeth Seymour (“Lizzie”) made one mistake and it has ruined her reputation. She has been talked about and ostracized by the ton. Only her family and her best friend, Carson Wallace, believed her. Carson was loyal and stood by Lizzie through the entire ordeal. He had already fallen in love with her but had no idea of how to let her know how he felt because he was afraid she could not feel the same way about him, that without having a title he wasn’t good enough for such a well-bred lady. Lizzie likewise loved Carson, but she had to keep quiet because she didn’t know if he felt anything for her. But secrets start to reveal themselves. Is it too late or will Lizzie and Carson be able to open their hearts and finally confess their love for each other?

This was such a good story and I enjoyed the characters. The females of the ton should sometimes be dumped in a box and dropped in the ocean! Some of them are so vile and heartless. But the story here was a good one. Grab your copy and see if true love will win in the end.

Another exceptional book by Fiona Miers. It is not as racy as her earlier historicals and falls closer to the sweet level on the meter, which does not in any way detract from the quality of the story. I really felt for Lizzie being the subject of vicious lies and gossip having been told about her that then ruined her reputation, but on the other hand if she had not ended up in such a situation Carson, her childhood best friend would never have felt that he would ever be considered suitable to be able to marry her since his family while wealthy, were tradesman and not of the nobility and Lizzie was the daughter of a Duke. The story was very poignant and Lizzie and Carson have to rise above yet another vicious lie that is spread in an attempt to prevent the HEA that they do manage to eventually get! So, all is therefore right with that particular corner of Regency England once again!

Marrying her Best Friend. This book was fantastic! I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed this series from the beginning, but this particular book I think is my favorite. It had so much drama and surprises within its pages. Lizzy Seymour was accused of being a bad woman and talked about through out the town. Noone believed her but her family and her best friend, Carson. Carson stood by Lizzy and fell in love with her but didn't know how to tell her. When secrets started to reveal themselves, Lizzy and Carson were able to profess their love. I had tears in my eyes through out the book. This is a great romance series you must read! A clean, historical romance that was quick to read with a happy ending.
by sewsummore

Lizzie and Carson had been best friends since childhood and as they grew older their friendship had deepened into love. Carson believed that he was not a suitable match for a Duke's daughter since he held no title, but he couldn't have been more wrong. Lizzie loved him with her whole heart and tried to believe that the woman she learned he was engaged to was worthy of his love. When Carson discovered that his sister had announced his engagement to a woman he could not stand, he was beyond anger, but quickly put an end to the engagement. I found this book a clean historical romance that was quick to read with a happy ending.

Ah Lizzie....the unconventional member of the family, was the target of slanderous rumors perpetrated by a vindictive lord, making her the subject of vicious rumors. Carson, her best friend did all that he could to defend her. This is a story in which two people love each other, but are so afraid of rejection that they keep it a secret. The characters are wonderful. We have met many of them before in the first two books of this series, but a few manipulating women have been added to the mix. When Carson finally lets his temper loose, the dialogue will make you cheer. There are a few surprises thrown in for good measure. All in all, this is a book not to be missed!

Loved story of Lady Elizabeth (Lizzie) and her neighbor Carson (an ordinary gentleman). They grew up together helping each other through good times and bad times. Carson loved Lizzie from when he first met her, but was afraid to say anything because he had no title. Women in town were jealous of Lizzie and spread hurtful tales of her and Carson defended her to everyone. They decided to marry the next year if they were still unattached. Carson's sister was trying to run his life because she didn't like Lizzie and never had.

Whew!!! My goodness. This story is a roller-coaster of emotions that will have you spinning upside down and all around. The dialogue was dynamic and active from page one till the end. Every page had one pulled from one side to another and yet the author Fiona Miers wrote the story in a way that everything went smoothly from one topic and scene to another. I was immersed in the story and into the relationship between Lizzie and Carson. Their lives were in such turmoil that it made it difficult to declare their love for one another. An amazing story of true friendship and deep abiding love. I highly recommend it.

This story was a bit over the top with a secret revealed at the end, the way Lizzie was spoken to by ladies in society, who would have more likely turned their backs than called her a whore to her face, and Lizzie's very scandalous, drunken and doesn't care what people think of her antics. Miss Violet, whom Carson's sister decides in the one he should marry was very publicly unladylike and mean. I don't understand why Lizzie and Violet weren't shunned by society for their behavior. There were a lot of misunderstandings and drama between Lizzie and Carson, which added to the intensity of the story.

Amazed

I absolutely could not believe that Carson met Violet one time and his sister announced that they were engaged. This is without Carson proposing to Violet. I believe in all the Regency novels it is the mother who is always pushing the son to get married. It is beyond the pale to think that Carson would dictate his way of life. There seems to be no honor in any of Lizzie's brothers that they allow Lord Dorset to spread lies without calling him and any others out. Pistols at dawn would be the result of that insult to their sister. A very silly story line was not believable. No recommendation from me.

This is a delightful friends to lovers romance. Both characters, Lizzie and Carson are best friends. They each have feelings for the other but don't believe they are good enough for each other. Lizzie, because the cloud of scandal hanging over her, and Carson because he is a tradesman's son. They both endure heartaches before finding their final destiny. And although the title hints at what the outcome will be, there are plenty of plot twists in between that will keep you guessing. A very well-written and entertaining story to be sure! A definite must read!

Even though this book is an easy read, the characters are lovely and quite interesting. I found the MCs a bit too simple at some points but in general quite fun to follow. I have not read the previous books in the series but I was intrigued by the Symour Siblings, especially Will who looks like a fun fellow. I might give his book a try.
All in all, this book is not the best but not the worst book to grab and read.

Elisabeth and Carson grow up together as their parents are neighbours in 19th century England. Elisabeth cannot commit to another man, as she loves Carson, so she sees her older brothers getting married one by one. When a disappointed suitor slanders her and she is ostracised by society, Carson keeps her company.
A fairly typical friends to lovers story, albeit set 2 centuries ago. The characters are well described and it iis easy to identify with them.
A nice entertaining story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I know this is a work of fiction but it should follow the constrictors of society of that time. I really don't think anyone would speak to a duchess the way that Violet did. I was also confused as to Lizzie loved Carson for years, the tales that Lord Dorst spread about Lizzie were false but she wasn't an innocent?! I haven't read the prior stories but something should have been written to bring that information forward if it was in the prior books.

When you are scandalized a.s being a "light skirt". Too free with your sexual favors. Your reputation is ruined if you are a lady. Mozzie Seymour may have been a dukes daughter but her reputation was in shreds thanks to a lying man.
Carson lived next door to the Seymour estate. The children grew up as best friends even if Carson held no title. The family was wealthy and well respected. Carson was Will Seymour's best friend and was secretly in love with Lizzie. The problem was Lizzie was a dukes daughter and expected to wed nobility.

Simplistic and underdeveloped dialogue.
Dragging out certain interactions with some characters for example Adrienne, Carson’s sister.
The continuous slander of Lizzie, and the words said about her were at times too much, for example the tea gathering.
Kitty wanting to not have Lizzie in her home because it would affect their child’s reputation but then changing some few chapters saying that she saw that Lizzie had changed. But what had Lizzie done to change? Besides the rumours spreading about her and then drinking with Carson?
Underdeveloped plot and characters development

Love can be next door!

Being the daughter of a Duke is a problem, her older brothers watch her constantly! Loved both of her sisters-in-laws an d they try to help her. When her next door neighbor and her childhood friend is being set up with a lady, without his knowledge, he’s upset! So is Elizabeth, but only wants what’s best for him.Carson is very wealthy, but no title, so feels he’s not deserving of Elizabeth! Enjoyed the book especially the twisted ending!

Marrying Her Best Friend is a romance between a ruined lady and the boy next door. This is one of the books where the plot seems contrived to keep the characters apart, and the characters act ridiculously to prolong the plot. There are also some inconsistencies. Still, it’s a pleasant enough story. It does have a sex scene in it (maybe more than one- I can’t remember), so reader discretion is advised.

It was truly annoying and unfair to have rumors destroy a lady's reputation. I loved it that she had such loyal supporters, especially her childhood friend. A lot of the behavior of supposedly 'better' and 'educated' people got me annoyed for most part of the story. Such vapid nature...

A sweet romance of the heart as two best friends finally come together!

Lizzie, a daughter of a duke, ruined her reputation by the Ton spreading gossip on her that was not true. Her best friend and neighbor Carson has always loved her but he feels below her station.

Can he save her and will she come to love him? Loved this story and cannot wait to read more!

Easy read

I had a hard time seeing Carson being manipulated by his sister when he told her to leave him alone. How could he allow her to tell eve he was to marry a women he hated. Really? Sorry but this book was very disappointing.
