When Porter doesn’t show up for their first date, Emily decides she didn’t need the distraction anyway. Too bad her heart has other plans.
A Llama for the Cowboy is the first book in the Elk Mountain Ranch series. This family saga will make you swoon with handsome cowboys, healing hearts and happy endings.
So refreshing to read an interesting story that is not padded with dozens of highly descriptive sexual encounters!! That is the mark of an EXCELLENT storyteller!!
I have never read this author before, and I am delighted with her word craft as it is a joy to read.not just for the story its creativity and joy. I enjoyed learning more about llamas their distinct personalities and quirks and they can be loving like a pet rather than a source of wool or as a beast of burden. What a novel idea using llamas for therapy as well as strong character development, reliance on God as well as a sense of pride in the land,, self reliance, and we working for what you want and strong family bonds. I loved how a r ocky start does not mean giving up on romance but a lot of thought goes into solving problems.
Did I stay up until 2 in the morning reading A Llama for the Cowboy? Yes. Yes, I did.
The title hooked me right away, but it was the witty banter that kept me turning the pages. And the undeniable connection between Emily and Porter was mwah! I loved that they didn’t hide from their problems or drag things out with long misunderstandings. Porter’s protective side was swoonworthy, and I was cheering for Emily’s success the whole way through.

Porter Matthews is all cowboy through and through. He has a great deal of responsibility and it's that responsibility that ended him in a ditch and face to face with a llama on the loose. Emily Hutchings is trying to get her therapy center open and finds herself meeting a rancher from one of the biggest ranches around, Porter Matthews. This was a sweet second chance romance read that was so good I couldn't put it down. This was a great start to the Elk Mountain Ranch book set and I can't wait to read more from this author.
The electricity between them sparks through the whole book BUT, he is not listening To her when she tells him to stop helping her. He apologizes ,get forgiven and does it again and again. Will they get together? Only. God knows. Love the character and you gotta love the llamas.
I never thought I would be reading a story with llamas, but there you are. This was very enjoyable, with a realistic story and characters that made me want to read more.
I really enjoyed meeting Porter and Emma. Loved the llamas...they are adorable. Ruth Pendleton has a way with words and it sure shows in this book. There are 3 more in the series and they will be good stories to.
A sweet, clean romance, well written, strong characters and interesting storyline. The characters are endearing, the llamas don't spit and it easily holds your attention!
Sweet Christian romance between therapist Emily and widower Porter. Her llama therapy center is close to his family’s ranch and the two deal with letting go of the past so they can forge a future together.
I like all the siblings in this big family. Porter is a lucky guy. Of course, I think Emily took the prise when she met Porter. They make a great couple, and the llamas are adorable.
I loved this book. It had just enough ups and downs to have you trying to guess what will happen next. Ruth Pendleton has a great way of taking you through the story.
