Night King #1

Night King 1

Rate this book
Vincent Pike always had an aversion to sunlight, one that required him to take pills so he could live a normal life in New York City. But when a date goes horribly wrong, he soon discovers that this sickness is because of his vampire heritage.

In a matter of hours, Vince finds himself befriended by a woman who calls herself a Nightweaver, a special kind of vampire with lethal powers. This woman claims that Vince is not only a vampire, but a powerful one known as a Blood Lord.

With the powers of a Blood Lord, Vince can form his own coterie of supernaturals. He can make them more powerful through a tantalizing vampiric ritual, but he can also benefit by acquiring some of their abilities.

But the arrival of a fabled Blood Lord to NYC won’t go unnoticed. Powerful groups like the Helsing Agency have their eye on Vincent, and if there’s one thing they don’t want, it’s to share power over the city, let alone the world.

A fun urban legend story

I really like this urban legend story about a vampire and him not even knowing he was when to begin with. I like the way the story went it was interesting in how the characters are developed and also the lore of the particular world that the story is set in. The characters are interesting and three dimensional. I had a lot of fun reading the story and for me it was very entertaining. I for one hope to read what happens next in the story of Victor the blood Lord.

This author seriously doesn't know much about vampires and it ruined this story

When the MC becomes a vampire it is explained that vampires do not take blood from the unwilling because it causes them to become feral/remnant.
This author seriously wrote that several times in fact which shows he knows nothing about vampires. The whole lore and every book written about vampires is about vampires taking blood.from the unwilling. Every vampire movie shows the bloodlust vampires have and the need to feed on victims. Blade, the Lost Boys, Dracula 2000, Underworld movies all those movies. I mean has.he never heard of Lestat and the Queen of the damned.movie??

I get it he wanted a good guy vampire but taking away what makes a vampire ruins the story. Besides women love that about vampires.

Now let's discuss vampire powers nd how this author managed to mess that up as well. First is the hypnotic ability the author called glamoring. Glamoring is.the ability to make oneself better looking and not hypnotizing.
Then there is the fact this blood Lord has to keep blood in him for
His powers to work. That is ridiculously bad writing. Vampires powers are not limited as.much this story makes them. Vampires only need to feed every few days and not from using powers.

Let's not forget the cartoonish brute power that makes the MC fists bigger like Popeye the sailor. That was so ridiculous.

The author didn't even include vampires ability to crawl over walls and ceilings, flight, causing mists to form, turning into bats, telepathy, telekinesis etc etc.

Note to authors it pisses off readers when you write about a subject you have no knowledge of, for example all the LItrpg writer who know jack about gaming. This author is the sms writing about vampires and not even seen a good vampire movie.

painful

If you want to read a book where the mc gets beat up, about to lose and then pulls some obscure move when he’s super weak for whatever reason and suddenly wins this is for you,

I recently wrote about a parody film addiction. . .

Vampire books are another vice. But since I detest romance books, a purely personal opinion with no hate meant for the genre, I rarely get to indulge. King's work has been lacking and I see now that is due to all creativity having dried up. The world states are never built, you just get thrown in. The characters are cut and paste cliches. Even the basic ideas have lost originality. Apparently putting out a book pretty much every month will just burn you out entirely. So I am done.

Good Book

I really enjoyed everything in this book, but the editing. Whoever goes through and checks for sentence structure, sentences making sense and keeping the plotline flowing sucks. I really enjoy your different series of books but she a person checking to see if you have three chances to fail suddenly says you have seven chances to fail and back to three is making it difficult to follow along. This happens slot through all books. I'm still going to read your books, but sometimes I can guarantee it's gonna confuse me

A very good read.

Reminds me of the Alpha series some. Needs to have some more proof reading done, but the story is more than fun to read. I like the way it weaves the way through the back story and how the story goes from one point of interest to another in next to no time. You will either like it or you won't, so give it a shot and you may be surprised at how much you like it.

wild ride

I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book. I’m glad I read it but sad I waited. The up side is that I can go straight to book 2 after I write this review. A reason I hesitated in reading this is because I’m not big on Vampire books, but this one was so thrilling and well written. The concept was fantastic and I loved Vincent’s character. Ok, now it’s time for me to hop onto book 2

Sadly although Dante King's series are usually detailed and intense, they are all built around the same archtypical characters. The main problem with the audiobook version of this title however is that the voice acting is horribly stilted (especially MC and other male characters) as if the voice actors were either unfamiliar with the voices / accents they were trying to emulate, or they were dry reading, or as if several of the dialogue staements where poorly edited and / or spliced together

A fun and enthralling take on the Masqurade.

Really enjoyed this one overall. The semi lit RPG elements blend well with the traditional understandings of the world of the supernatural. The twist are fun, and the tropes used feel familiar instead of overdone.

Going to hop into book 2 very soon.

It's a good book but the mc is so lame when it comes to fighting 😒 he burns up his vampire power level which is lame his powers run off the blood he drinks so he runs out really fast which is stupid 🤔. Love vampire books and this is really dumb. He uses his powers 1 time then he's kind of useless. So this is stupid hope this changes because it really ruins the book.

couldn’t get passed the gearing up

Just didn’t make sense. The tacked on culture. Ignoring costs. Lot of help with hand waved reasoning. Gatling gun reference?

Mediocre. But when stupid things are done (like not picking your weapons back up when you definitely had the chance) and you let a stupid girl who tried to kill you off the hook Yet Again, I lost my patience for it. Dropped at 70%.

A different view

Enjoyable and thoughtful along with plenty of action. As you get into the story you are feeling better. And you just go with the story as answer are revealed.
