All I wanted was to understand what turned my stepbrother so cold.
I never expected that the journey would end with him and his friends crouched around a bloody corpse.
But when they reveal that they've been investigating an unsolved crime that tore my family apart without me even realizing it, how can I walk away?
The deeper I tumble down the rabbit hole with them, the more I believe their theories. If what they're saying is true, then my life might be on the line as well. And even though I'm falling for all of them in ways I never expected, they can't protect me anymore.
Especially when the greatest threat could come from the other man I've invited in...

Make sure you have read the first book in the series so you will know what is going on. This book starts right where that one left off. Madelyn has shown up at the address they found in her father's hidden compartment in a trinket box, to find the guys standing over a dead body. As she turns to flee, a man grabs her.
I won't tell you how this dramatic scene played out, just know that Madelyn is no pushover. The group doesn't learn much from this encounter, but Madelyn finds out what exactly is behind the guys' investigation and she and Logan finally talk about the reason for his attitude towards her. There are some real surprises in the relationship arena that you'll love. An automobile accident, along with a cryptic text message, will highlight the danger of the investigation while proving that they are on the right track and someone is worried about what they will find.
I had to headslap myself when I realized who exactly Beckett is, if you have read another series that Eva and Harlow wrote you will know what I mean. This one ends on another cliffhanger when the other three guys in Madlyn's life find out who he is and what he has been up to. I am personally skeptical of their source. We shall see. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Reckless Games is book 2 in the Vigilante Kings Series by Eva Chance and Harlow King. I think I loved book 2 even more than book 1. This series is delivering everything I could possibly want in my romantic suspense reading.
I really loved how we got more insight into all the characters, their personality, their desires, their backstory and family history, and in some cases the characters history with eachother.
It is an RH romance. Maddie has known the trio known as the Vigil since early school days and gotten to know them better now that they helped her reclaim her stolen property and in the process uncovered a larger crime. Maddie has also met and formed a relationship with Beckett and the Vigil are suspicious of his smooth talking and mysterious ways. Are they simply jealous? Or is there even more to Beckett hidden behind his confident and caring personality?
I was completely immersed in this book and I am left eagerly wanting more of these characters. Can't wait for book 3.

There’s a whole lotta mystery and intrigue and murder in this latest instalment but we do get a few truths along the way although so many more questions do arise! We are getting to know the characters more and also seeing their RH relationship grow and develop. There’s more drama, danger, action and twists and turns to surprise you and a gripping storyline to keep you hooked!
Maddie and the boys are back and looking for more answers. Crazy story and crazy times for all but so addicting to read. Do not want to give anything away but it was a good story except the ending made me scream and cry and want the next one. But get closer to everyone and learn more about them all and what might be going on. And try to guess what is coming. Secrets and clues to be found.
Maddie collected boys while solving her father's murder only to find out that one might not be a great guy... What will happen next?
I don't know but I can't wait to find out. She's tearing down Dex's walls. Finding love in Slade's humor. Learning to trust Logan again and finding Beckett's confidence to be sexy. But what's going on in the background that she doesn't know? Is she being sabotaged? Did he hurt her mom? I have so many questions that I need answers to.
*vague spoilers, but nothing more specific than the description for book 3*
Overall, I like the series’ premise and characters; although, there are some plot jumps that feel contrived rather than leading the reader naturally. The plot development in book 2 was slow and tedious at times. Not much forward movement and the investigation became a bit monotonous.
Additionally, the authors forced a scene that undermined prior character building of both Beckett and Maddie just to get a steamy scene. I’m all for steamy scenes, but it was so out of place that it pulled me out of the story and I couldn’t enjoy it. I found it hard to believe that the man who she said made her feel safe - and was supposedly more mature, accepting, and confident in himself - would push a situation that was objectifying and degrading or that she would tolerate it given the juvenile, competitive reasons set forth.
After, the story went on as if the character break never happened. No red flags were raised that this was out of character, and there was nothing to indicate that this was an intentional break in character to lead to the book’s ultimate accusation. The whole scene could have been removed with minimal impact to the story, and the two things that came out out of it could’ve been handled better.
Sadly, that scene took me completely out of the story and I almost stopped reading because it was so obnoxious. I did finish the book and enjoyed the further development of Dexter, but it was difficult to get back into it and push through the rest of the book.

Maddie, her step-brother and his two friends are continuing to investigate the unsolved crime of what happened to her father. Having bullied her way into being involved it starts to get a bit more real plus she is falling for all of them (and is unable to choose). Plus she has met someone else and he might be an even bigger threat - especially now she has invited him in.
The plot thickens and the mystery deepens for the murder of her father while at the same time her affections for her three men deepen (plus the new man she is trying to include into the mix). I do find that to be more than a little selfish of her and that has actually made me dislike her. It was clearly written and easy to understand even if I didn't agree with some of what was happening. Contains some mature content and violence.
Beckett how I love him, we definitely need to start seeing more of him I know he's not part of the main group, hopefully in book 3 the harem will start coming together more.
I'm liking the main storyline and intrigue, I have plenty of questions I need answers for, and any answer I get leads to more questions what a web the authors weave.
The relationships progressed relatively smoothly in this book which I was pleased by too much relationship drama within the harem is so off putting.
Dexter is becoming my second fave after Beckett, Logan is still coming in last despite his attitude adjustment towards Maddie.
Still plenty of action in amongst the story, and bits of humour all round thoroughly enjoyable.
Maddie finds herself looking for justice in this second book. She finds out some information from The Vigil that makes her determined to help and make sure justice is served. While investigating, she also finds herself in a relationship with multiple guys. The sexy scenes are hot, especially the office and BMW scenes. This book reminds me of the other Devil’s Dozens series, in that you get a bunch of small clues and crumbs, but can never figure out the bigger picture or how they all fit together until the end of the series. And of course, you can’t finish one of these books without a cliffhanger. This one was a little more brutal than previous cliffhangers. I’m so anxious to find out what happens after the shocking revelation Logan drops.
I'm totally loving the Vigilante Kings series. Reckless Games starts off exactly where we were at the end of Book 1. Maddie is more determined to find out what happened to her father all these years ago and who it was that killed him. Login finally opens up to her and their relationship progresses. I loved finding out more about Dexter and he's slowly turning into a favourite of mine. Beckett is finally introduced to the others and there were a couple of scenes that were scorching hot! The steam is unreal in this book! There are lots they are finding out and now with someone watching them the danger level is set to get higher.
Love the books xx written by Eva and Harlow. This is another that doesn’t disappoint, love the non stop action as the guys and Maddie delve deeper into the mystery surrounding her father’s death. She develops a relationship with all the guys and they finally tell her what’s being going on and involve her into the investigation. Still trying to work out Becketts involvement in her fathers death. Really hope he has a plausible explanation to give Maddie and the Vigil, looking forward to finding out what happens next. A great read, thoroughly enjoyed it.

The story keeps getting better as it progresses. It started right off where it was left in the first book and made a blast like a boom. So many things got revealed and Madelyn got a whip of what the guys are doing and in how depth things are happening around her. I appreciate the way their relationship blooms and how affectionate Madelyn is towards all four of them. The story takes so many twists and turns that reading it was enjoyable. I loved every revelation and the ending was just perfect. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Book 2 in the series . It has everything you need to a great listen . Heroine is Maddie. Her men are Logan , Beckett and Dexter. The authors Eva Chance, Harlow King wrote a story full of Mystery, ,, action and your wondering what was Maddies father how on the mystery person. Yes it ends in a cliffhanger. But it’s a great story wondering what’s going to happen next
The performance of Desiree Ketchum, Aaron Shedlock was fantastic. They did all the characters spot on . They brought you right into the story
Stalking is not romantic. Not even if you find the stalker "hot". It's an expression of deeply seated issues that cannot be cured by the "love of a good woman" and fellowship of your polyamorous group. Seriously, this POS cut himself off from healthy contact with the object of his obsession to stalk her in person, through media, and by hacking into her private accounts and files. Don't even try and pretend that's not pathological. To the authors: goodness gracious, get an effing clue.
Reckless Games is book two in the series Vigilante Kings by authors Harlow King & Eva Chance. Wow things are getting hot- in more then one way. So more truths are coming to light and the bedroom scenes are getting interesting. With all this happening- someone is working diligently behind the curtain to keep them all in the dark. Only one truth might just be the end of things. Enjoy!!
This series just gets better and better, Maddie and Her three Vigil men are searching for clues to work out who killed her father and why. Knowing how to trust is also a problem. the growing chemistry with the members of vigil and Beckett is proving a distraction for them all. This is a rollercoaster of a read, I look forward to the next book
Reckless Games is the second book in the Vigilante Kings Series by Eva Chance & Harlow King and picks up right where Savage Secrets finishes!
Maddie & her guys are back and are continuing to investigate what happened to her father. The plot definitely thickens in this book as Maddie and the guys go further down the rabbit hole to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Maddie’s feelings for each of the guys deepen further and she realises she won’t ever be able to choose. She introduces another love interest to the guys which proves to complicate things, especially when he may be involved with what happened to her father. Logan, Slade & Dexter have a weird feeling about said love interest will do anything and everything to keep her safe.
Thankfully there is some smut in the book which I was stoked about! The office scene and what happened afterwards .. IYKYK 😮💨
I’m really looking forward to the next book, especially after that cliffhanger! I just love Logan, Slade & Dex so so much and can’t wait to see what happens next 😏😏
So I really like this book 2, even more than book 1. Truths have come to light and the heat has really turned up. But my favorite part of the story is the mystery. Is Beckett involved? What was Evan Silver murdered over? Why? Honestly it's just intriguing and I'm loving the ties to the other 2 series by these authors. Looking forward to the next book.
This next book was ok. The characters are really ordinary. Not wealthy, go to a random college, there's not a lot of tension between them. So ordinary that it became boring in this book. I think, maybe, I read too many RH in elite academies or with giant drama, and this one is so plain that it doesn't really hold my interest.
I love Dexter and Beckett. The group sex scene was weird though. It came out of nowhere and was a bit out of character for everybody. Dexter's change of character comes too fast.
So I wrote a review on book 1 talking about it felt new and refreshing and how much I liked it. Unfortunately I think book two fumbled the ball. The plot is getting predictable more ridiculous, the relationship progression has some serious pacing issues, and I actively cringed multiple times throughout. I'm going on ahead but my expectations have been lowered considerably:/
This is a great RH read with great twists, a nice splash of steam and plenty of action. I enjoy the characters and that was the perfect cliffhanger. Can't wait for the finale!
I'm really enjoying this series. And I wish it had better character back stories. We're only getting glimpses of Dexter and Beckett. If Maddie has these love interests, I want more on the guys to get a real feel of the story
Another huge story from Eva and Harlow. The heat in this book is turned up to sizzling! The plot thickens as the Vigil continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Maddy's father's death. Brilliantly written.
OK so, besides the hot sexy times, girl they are hot! 🥵... the mystery had me enthralled; the more they dig, the more questions arise, and now one of the harem is the main suspect, WTH!!! 😳🤔🧐 Dying to read the next book, I need answers!!! 😫🕵♀️
I need the next book on Audio ASAP! Absolutely love the narrators! It took me a hot minute to figure out who Beckett is and once I did, I was excited for a crossover from one of my favorite series. I love this world that the authors have created and I desperately need more!
Book two picks up without missing anything, and the excitement and mystery of this story just keeps getting better. What exactly is going on, and can we really trust our newest guy? I can't wait I listened and read this book and the narrators are amazing
I tried to give the second book a chance after reading the first, but the vibe was just weird. The whole mood shifted kind of abruptly and made the whole thing feel less cohesive.
