I’m a huge fan of novella length reads and I also have a weak spot for shifter romance books so Growling For My Mate Book 1 of Skye Alder’s Ash Mountain Pack Series was the perfect read for me. Ash Mountain is a shifter’s paradise, a place where everyone is part of the same pack and Slate is the Alpha. The only human is Grier, abandoned as a child, she was taken in by a shifter couple and has lived with them since. Unfortunately Grier does not feel any real connection with the other members of the pack because she’s human. All that changes on her eighteenth birthday when Slate claims her as his mate. It isn’t easy but neither Slate nor Grier is strong enough to break the bonds of fated mates. TBR and enjoy reading them get their happily ever after.

Grier has been living in Ash mountain for years but being the only human kinda sucks since she feels she has no connection with anyone.. she isn't invited to dances, running nothing.. making her doubt herself in this pack and town. She has a nice sorta friendship? With Slate the alpha but its a quick hi and food.. she made her choice to leave when the pack has a meeting and some harsh words are said about Humans that has Grier making that choice to leave.

Slate feels bad for some of the words he said about humans he wants to say sorry but once Grier turned 18.. something clicked a scent that calls out to his mate.. and his mate is Grier.. and he wants to claim her but she doesn't believe him.

Tons of tension and some dirty moments.. now Slate has to show his mate his feelings are true .

I just loved loved loved this story. It grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go until the end. I felt the emotions of Grier deeply, knowing what it feels like to not fit in. But she gets her HEA with the alpha, OTT, possessive Slate. (fantastic name btw)

Grier and Slate... 3.75 stars!

I'm never one to turn down a fated mates romance with some extra drama, but when Grier RAN AWAY after mating with Slate I wanted to bang my head against the wall. Total whiny heroine move, which I think she should have groveled for, not Slate.

It takes talent to bring me to tears in the space of 52 pages, well more like one-third of that cause I was crying before I hit the halfway mark! Grier has been on the outside the moment she was taken in by the shifter community of Ash Mountain. The only human, she has never belonged or been included. Suddenly, she has a mate when she turns eighteen and he just happens to be the Alpha and the sheriff. Can Slate convince her that she is right where she belongs? Loved this sooo hard, I read it one go and then was majorly sad that it was over. So glad there are more books in the Ash Mountain Pack coming very soon!

Growling For My Mate

Holy Growling Alpha!! Growling For My Mate is book 1 in the new Ash Mountain Pack series and let me tell you that it's one heck of a start! Grier has been an adopted member of the pack since she was a child and has always had a crush on Slate alpha of the pack who has always felt and treated her like a true member. Everything changes the moment she turns 18. This is their fast moving journey to finding their happily ever after and a must read! As always with Shaw Hart's book it is 100% safe from any kind of abuse, cheating, ow/om drama and this one is dual virgins. A very growly good read!

Novella, uncomfortable plot about a young H and h. They are not only naive and inexperienced, this is a story about ignorance and fear leading to racial discrimination. She's the only human in the town, she's not valued by anyone, isolated and lonely, then he realises she's his mate. We are Told it changed everything, but it didn't. He (almost forcibly) mates her, gets her pregnant, she cooks - a lot, and that's her HEA and her life is set at 18. I didn't find any romance in this story.

For a book that took me less than an hour to read, I’m in love! Quick, steamy, and a bit angsty, call me surprised!

Grier is the only human in Ash Mountain and she’s feeling lonely and ostracized. Slate is the young Alpha who took over when his parents were killed. The plot was a bit in the background but I’m assuming we’ll get more of it throughout the series, so I’m totally okay with that.

When Grier turns 18, Slate picks up her scent and immediately knows she’s his. Unfortunately, Grier is hurt by his previous words and doesn’t feel like she belongs so she fights the pull which brings the angst. I loved how Slate realizes life couldn’t have been easy for he and accepts his fault in that.

When I say this is a quick and steamy read, I mean it. It doesn’t have a lot of depth or meat to it, but y’all. If you want a palate cleanser, PNR with some sexy scenes, then this is it! I adore these little books and I can’t wait to read more from this world!

Grier is almost 18 and hasn't found her place or home in life. Shifters took her in at Ash Mountain but she's never felt like a part of the community. She decides she must move on and find somewhere she could fit in.

Slate is now Alpha of the pack since the passing of his parents. He yearns for his fated mate - the one who will bring calm and love to his life.

The moment Grier turns 18, Slate catches her scent and realizes his fated mate has been under his nose this whole time. Will Slate be able to convince her to stay, mate, and build a life?

BEST Alpha Insta-love shifter book E-V-E-R!!!!

I just discovered Shaw Hart today, and read one of her insta-love novellas which was good, so when I saw she had a SHIFTER series, I decided to give it a try. Oh. My. Gosh. ***Tiny Spoiler Alert Following**When Slate runs into the diner and growls "MINE," my toes literally curled! Seriously. Curled!
I discovered the whole insta-love alpha novella genre a few months ago when I somehow happened across an Olivia T. Turner book called "Mine." And well let's just say I instantly fell in love with insta-love novellas. She has a couple of really great bear SHIFTER series and at first I avoided them thinking that they didn't sound like the romantic comedy books I usually preferred. Then I ran out of Ms. Turner's other books and decided that I would give them a shot. LOVED THEM! They quickly became my favorites of all her books and I devoured the two separate series in two days. I have read A LOT of these types of books now, and while I enjoyed them, I haven't been able to find another author I liked quite as much( in the SHIFTER genre), until now. I've only read the first book in this series but...let's just say it's 2:30 AM and I am not going to sleep anytime soon! Thank you Ms. Hart, you've made my night!

Good

I really enjoyed this story. Grier has always felt like she didn’t fit in amongst the shifter community and the pack drives that point home when she hears them talking badly about humans. Slate has never really thought of Grier as a human, to him she is one of the pack. At the stroke of midnight she turns 18 and Slate finds out Grier is his mate. She is tired of not belonging and decides to leave town. Slate just found his mate and he is not about to let her go. I liked how Grier stood up for herself and was doubtful and scared about her place in the pack. She didn’t just take Slate’s word for it, she had to see for herself.

This was the first story I've read by this author and I absolutely loved it.

I'm crazy about Insta love stories and this one was the same where only difference was this was a shifter romance.

- H was a sweetheart, I loved his character and the way he loved h. The only issue was that, we don't find out if he is a virgin or not. I really want to know if the h was his first or not.

- h was a sweet girl too. At the last chapters she was irritating, but she had her own insecurities and opinions that I respected. Overall, I enjoyed reading her.

- I'm seriously glad there was no cliche OM/OW drama that happens in the shifter book where the H has a fvck buddy until he finds his mate.

Great shifter story

I loved Grier and Slate. It was very unique for Grier to be the only human in a shifter town after being abandoned by her parents as a kid. I loved Slate and how alpha he was but still all about his mate. And I really loved that Grier didn’t just accept her shifter mate but wanted to make sure it was right for her before committing to anything. Definitely recommend!

Ash Mountain es el hogar de los metamorfos, personas que son capaces de transformarse de humanos a animales a su voluntad. La mayoría son cambiantes de lobo aunque hay uno o dos cambiantes de osos que viven en las afueras del pueblo.

Nos encontramos con una historia demasiado corta de 70 páginas por lo que todo sucede muy rápido. Todo va al grano.
Hacia el final del libro te enseñan qué ha pasado con ellos un año y 10 años después.

Definitivamente me hizo falta más profundidad en los personajes y no hay mucha trama la verdad. Lo que leen en la sinopsis eso es y uno que otro conflicto pero sin mucho drama.

Slate es el sheriff y su animal es un lobo. Además es el Alfa de la manada.

Algo que caracteriza a todos los metamorfos es que se la pasan buscando a su verdadera compañera, por lo que si no tienen compañera anda siempre solos y célibes.

Grier es una humana viviendo en la manada ya que fue abandonada por sus padres desde muy pequeña, así que unos miembros de la manada la adoptaron pero Grier nunca ha sentido que perteneciera al ser ella humana.

I really liked this one! I loved reading about the pure need and aggressiveness that Slate pursues Grier with when he realizes that she's his mate and when she runs. Then, the understanding that he didn't take her seriously instead of just bulldozing her into staying without comprehending her feelings. And I love Grier for realizing that she didn't like how people just started treating her differently because she became his mate and she wanted to try the outside world even when it wasn't what she expected.

Keep in mind that this book is super short, so thing have to happen super fast. I'm not usually a fan of the Insta love stories, but with a short story, it's expected. This is a sweet story about somewhat of an outcast finding out that she was truly home all along. A big, burly wolf needs to learn to listen and the pain of separation. There are some feels packed in these few pages.

Quick short read, but the narration style didn’t really work for me. I didn’t really like the pack. Not that we got to know any of them, but what we did know didn’t do them any favours. After the way they treated her as a child they didn’t deserve her.
I also didn’t really like the two main characters.
It was read as a trial and I’m not going to continue with the series

Growling For My Mate is the story of Grier and Slate.

Alpha x human, 18 year old heroine, I think 25 year old hero, dominant and possessive alpha, she feels as if he doesn’t listen to her at first so she leaves and then he comes and gets her back apologising that he didn’t listen and she apologises for leaving. Yh it was an alright read but they got points for SMUT.
