The book begins by resolving the cliffhanger from the previous book and ends in another cliffhanger. Unfortunately, nothing really interesting happens in between these two events. There’s more chemistry between Talia and Galen’s father than between Talia and Galen. This book is like the middle four chapters of a longer book. The story, and I use the term loosely, does not stand on its own and is frankly boring. Ending the book in another cliffhanger is a naked grab for the reader’s dollars to find find out how the cliffhanger is resolved. After this edition I find I don’t really care and will not be continuing the series.

The Rejected Shifter Series

***Spoilers***
I started this series out hopeful, I have always enjoyed Amelia's fantasy novels, especially her shifter books. But, this series I am less than impressed with. When they say slow burn, it really means almost no burn. There is hardly any spice between the two MCs. She's naive and insecure, a 23-year-old virgin who is afraid to even be with a man. (Yet she wanted Maddox) Gaven lost a girl he loved and is afraid to open himself up again, (understandable) both are fighting against their attraction to one another, not just an attraction but a pull. (FATED) I was not expecting this series to turn into a damn circus, between packs fighting for power just to be greedy f***s, add witches, then demons get thrown into the mix, on top of her tainted status by said demons. There is just too much going on, and it really takes away from the supposed couple and their love story. It seems more platonic. Aside from crushing. This series has really been drawn out, and not only is it long and boring but absolutely hardly any spice. I expected it to pick up once they hot to know one another. Not the case. There was one small scene last book I think, where he finger#d her and she gave him a ha#dy... not much, really. Teenage experimenting stuff. They spend more time fighting with the demons, witches, and her old pack that really he plays hero more often than not. She is crushing on him like a 15-year-old girl instead of a 23-year-old woman, and he's 30, so he's experienced compared to her virgin status. And then the dark witches wanting his first born in exchange for a cure to help other witches, then changing it to his seed. And deciding on a future favor as he won't agree to the other two, can we guess what that will be? More and likely his seed... Like come on, evil witches want to fu%k him but the fmc won't hop on that alpha train? And Darius, oh Darius is clearly evil. Shows up out of nowhere knowing too much stuff when he's a (drifter) come on... gullible much.. It was supposed to be a trial and Gaven is having second thoughts since Darius has been blatenly disrespectful to Gaven. Alpha up and protect your pack, he's in charge while his father is dying, own it. He's being weak. There is weak, and then there is fair. It's not painting him in a good light anymore. This seems more like a drama fantasy series. I'm regretting purchasing the first 5 books, I don't think buying the 6th is worth it. I expected better from her work. It really was a let down.

I read the first two books for free, I like the series.. The Shifter Rejected Series: Books 1 - 3 - Wolf of ash, Wolf of blood, wolf of shadows..

focus on wolf of shadows
---Spoilers---
This book is centered around a girl coming of age named Talia. This girls story starts in book one, you learn her starting history, and as it progresses her whole world is blowup, since this is a were story, you get the normal lore, but her pack is nothing normal, it is like she is part of a pack were all the leaders went crazy, pack are very territorial, but her alpha's pack is not, She watches the Alpha kill the Beta, over failing to follow through with commands, then since she is the beta's daughter, she is banished, every thing as she knows it, all the gaslighting, has her confused about her self and what next, then she is on her way out of town, and gets kidnapped by the alpha of the next pack in the town.. A wolf pack of strength, honesty, family.. different from what she was raised in, but she is back doing the same job, she did in the other pack, look after and feeding her father/father figure, mending wounds, and house work, reading stories.. All the drama and pain she suffers, continues in book 2 and 3, but a story of demons and witches also happens and she is impacted with more trauma, sadness and pain..
---
I enjoyed the writing style of the author, and found some of the trauma based stuff hard to read in book one and two, but found that the character gain in strength and personality from from her struggle, It was a novelty that that this was not a pure were wolf book.

The author got me hooked with 2 free books, so I felt since I enjoyed that enjoyed the books I was curious to see what next..
I look forward to reading Wolf of Thorns. I recommend that if you like were wolf books, you have a read of the Shifter Rejected Series.
---
focus on wolf of shadows
extra self questions..
This book bring many questions to the surface, like was her Dad her dad? or was her mother also cursed by a demon, or did the alpha just talk fluff, but also makes you wonder if her father was a demon, but in the normal lore a alpha has red eye's, so it also made me wonder why she was isolated in the first pack, and wonder if the isolation being done by the new pack was a security thing since she seemed to attract trouble, and was an outsider.

The Shifter Rejected series continues with The third book, Wolf of Shadows. The problems keep stacking up for the main characters, it's complete chaos and has me wonder what else can this group face.

Talia has been rejected by her mate, turned on by her pack, held ransom, and more and she's only grown from it. Talia comes to realize that she is stronger and more resilient than she realizes. She's standing up for herself, helping out with the pack, and willing to fight when she needs to. However, even though she has her limit and after another thing goes wrong she's starting to reach it.

Galen isn't fairing much better, the Northwood pack attacks, a shady new pack member, his dad's declining health, and the demons, Galen is pulled in all directions but he's a good guy and trying his best. Too bad he's kinda failing in the relationship department, he and Talia are so close but when things get difficult he pulls away and it's frustrating as heck but things start heading in a better direction.

I would like to give a shout-out to Max, Galen's father. While the older alpha may be dying and hardly have any scenes but when he does show up he's a hoot. He's my favorite character in the series. Speaking of characters, the new guy, Darius, is up to something and giving off shady vibes. Things are going downhill, if it's not one thing then it's another. Talia's new problem, the shocking revelation about a certain witch, and the enemy pack are at it again. Everything is connected but I can't figure out exactly how.

Wolf of Shadows was a good read. The last few chapters were mind-blowing, there was an incredible but telling fight, a bad deal in the making, a creepy stalker, and Taila received some information that could hold some truth about the past and if it does it doesn't look good. That's just one more thing to add to the relationship drama, pack issues, witchy revelations, and demon problems. The story isn't complete yet, there's at least one book left in Talia's and Galen's story, Wolf of Thorns is next.

I just started this book and it's already inconsistent. It starts from Talia's point of view and the narrative is that she is renting a small house(?). What is she talking about? She lives at the Alpha's house (Galen's father, Max). Not to mention somehow a demon has gotten into this heavily warded house (so heavily warded that in the last book it was deemed the safest place and that's why she moved all the women and children in there to protect them). I don't know where this book series is going but it's not consistent so far and maybe I'm seeing it because I'm reading them back to back but it's definitely starting to feel more like AI writing, which is depressing really.

After having read a bit more I can honestly say it's like reading about a new book all together. Suddenly there is mention of earth magic that wolves call upon when they shift and Talia suddenly becomes a fighter to boot? In book one she couldn't defend herself if her life depended on it. In book two she stood up to Demon infused Maddox but still got hurt (though magically recovered like it was nothing) and now she's up against a demon with a broken broom handle and it's almost like it's nothing? Seriously, pick a lane! Do I like my heroines weak? No, but at the same time if you are writing a character a certain way, they normally stay that way and not change over the course of a few days. I was reading a book by JJ King and it reminds me of the same issues. She made a character with an abusive past but it was only ever an issue when she deemed it to be. People with deep seeded issues don't have a switch to turn on and off when they feel like, and this book is getting to be just as bad with Talia's sudden change in character. Let's not even talk about how for some reason the previous Alpha (Galen's dad) had to use a cell phone to text his son for help, even though the previous book Galen spoke telepathically to his pack. The inconsistences are just ridiculous at this point and I will not be finishing this book or reading any of her other work

3.5★

Different story? All kinds of inconsistencies just in the first few chapters. I usually wouldn't rate a DNF, but this one made me feel like I needed to because there were so many differences in what the character knew, their past, where the FMC lives, where the witches live, she can now fight, her best friend has now always been her supposed frenemy and she has always known it, her best friend is a fantastic fighter/best in her old pack when before women weren't allowed to be trained and none knew how to fight, telepathy within the pack being nonexistent now. Beyond that, this whole series has had an insane amount of grammatical errors and punctuation issues; that is why none of the others are over 3 stars. But I still had hope for an interesting story, which at this point just keeps getting dragged on for no real reason with so many new things being added in each book. It honestly worries me that this might be AI writing because it is completely different and has an incredible amount of very obvious inconsistencies.

CLASIFICATION: 3.0 ESTRELLAS

A lot of of typos and a few issues with the storyline but I'm mostly confused about the friendship between Celia and Talia. They were extremely close the first two books and in this one, they come to blows. Talia mentions that she was upset that C didn't come to see her the day she was banished and book 1 shows her (and her other conveniently left out best friend Nyssa) risking punishment to console her, prepare food and help her pack all her important items that day. They also gave her 2 rolls of money. Cliffhanger aside, this entire story could have been included in book 2. There wasn't much going on. Still a decent read.

Talia

Talia has had so much happen in her life watched her father killed in front of her by her alpha then was rejected by his son and tossed out of the pack with a few days to leave or be killed on sight then when she was leaving was kidnapped by another pack them thinking they could use her status as the alpha sons fiancee to bargain with for them to find out the truth then a demon put a mark on her and its causing her anger and more to become the demons property she thinks already her eyes as a wolf are read instead of violet and she need a dark witch to help her get it of her

Thoughts and feelings:

🍁I tried my best to care about this story, but it didn't work. This book, while including different actions and events, fell flat to me. It was mostly boring and just ...dragging the story. I don't know. I still wanna learn about the heroine's ability and the demons. But, I don't know why I need to go through 3 more books to learn that 🤔 Why didn't the author just squeeze every two books in one instead? I'd rather have a trilogy than a six book series with only just over 100 pages each!

I might just take a break from this series. Read something else and come back to it.

audiobook version Al
just pure horrible awful. Remind me of school when you first learned how to read and you got the emphasis all wrong, creepy, monotone , off the rails , irritating , boring and nerve racking,so very bad I can not stand listening. Those author now, want to be cheap and not invest money and what you get is crap. She has several of her books on YT. I started almost all of them and gave up.
So I will not even think about buying it.
I find it a damn shame for this way I will never know if the stories are worth it or not.

Ok, 3 books in to discover there’s another 3 books to go. It’s such a slow burn, I’m not actually sure I can read the next 3 books. The witches, Demons and constant wolf attacks…. Yet every time ( 3 I believe so far) they have had the opportunity to finally kill the enemy ( wolves) they just let them go…. Argh!
3 books in and apart from having the hots for each other, which no one is actually acting on for no apparent reason, nothing has changed. I feel like we are just going in circles 😫
6 books could of easily been 3

I feel like I'd enjoy these more if I was a late teen or someone who just started/got back into reading. These books aren't bad. They're not my favourite but they do have interesting plot points that keep me wanting to read them.

In this one I feel we get more of the plot over what feels like a rushed love story. (maybe Im a slow burn girly) I'm enjoying seeing more characters growth as their relationships unfold.

I can’t believe that I’m reading the third book in a row of “Maddox didn’t love me like this” and “my old pack are the bad guys” and “oh no, demons 😈”. Pls can someone tell me if it ever ends?? Surely by the third book we should reach a resolution to at least one of the problems introduced in the first one??

It’s an okay book, a mate tease! But okay. I can’t get over the name “Galen” it just sounds like gayland, not that that is a place I wouldn’t love to visit but idk I feel like he works out because that’s his name. the plot is lowkey the equivalent of can soup when starving and when you only got condiments and onions in the fridge. It’s repetitive af though so yeah it gets annoying.

Talia

The demons continue to affect the witches. So they seek help from Margurites' sister, who gives them a potion. Talia's old alpha attacks her, and she fights him with strength from her demon mark.

Another Good Story!

I’m enjoying this series so far. Boy does Talia have such heartache. She is facing some serious challenges. Galen has been good for her and vice versa. On to the 4th story. 😊😊😊😊💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰

The story started out well, but I stopped listening to the audiobook at book 4. In the whole story, very little has changed and it became monotonous and boring. I have no idea how this series ends because I really didn't want to listen any further. Too bad because the storyline started out well
