Mated by Chance #5

Make Mine an Otter

Rate this book
Being alone has its advantages but not when you’re longing for someone to share your life.

Alpha shifter Finlay gave up a successful career in finance. He left the bright lights of the city behind and headed for the mountains where he built a home overlooking a river, which is a must-have for an otter shifter. Finlay spends his days making jewelry, which is a far cry from his former hectic lifestyle. He has no regrets except one: he has no mate.

Julian loves hiking, and he’s taken a two-week vacation to walk a trail by himself. The first week is better than expected with clear blue skies, stunning views, and fresh air. But with a cold front comes rain and a drop in temperature, forcing the omega to stay in his tent, and gives him ample time to question his life choices.

Finlay is used to solitude and rarely has visitors. When two strangers arrive at his door, he’s wary but welcomes them into his home, while Julian wakes up one rainy morning to find two men inviting him for breakfast in a tent they pitched next to his. Both the alpha and omega find messages after the pair depart, which give them perplexing instructions.

An alpha and an omega who both enjoy their own company find themselves living under the same roof. Can they find their way to be more than roommates?

Make Mine an Otter is the fifth book in the M/M mpreg shifter, sweet-with-knotty-heat series. It features an alpha otter who’s given up a life for a very different one, an omega whose passion is challenging himself, a pair of matchmakers who appear at odd moments, a cute baby, and a happy forever.

I can't say this was good, or even if I enjoyed it, but it was at least accidentally hilarious.

The writing was very hard to follow at times, as it made logic leaps and scene shifts without actually connecting any of them. The world building is lacking, which doesn't help not being able to figure out whats happening.

The amusement I got came from the bizarre use of words. Absolutely baffling at times. The sex scene made no sense, things happened and then unhappened and then they checked the oven and went back to sex.

My tongue pried open his lips, and slid inside. And then we boogied, our tongues twisting and writhing around one another in their version of a dance routine.

boogied??? i have more of these treasures in my highlights.

It was still an easy and fast read, and with the amusement(?) I got out of it, I'll give it an extra star.

One of my favorites of the series!

These two (the otter shifter and the human) are just totally sweet and full of sunshine. Love this series cuz it is all happiness and no angst. Sometimes I want something simple and just pure fun to read and this series fits the bill perfectly!

When things aren't really what we think.

Julian was at the river when he filmed an otter or maybe it was a man? He's confused. Finlay was sent to the river by Mr. Lucas. The matchmaker strikes again!

Nope. Looking for otter shifters, but this ain't it.
I'm not interested in the career paths of social media or jewelry creators.
Immediately started skimming. Looks like a lot of time spent with the matchmakers and woe over how a human will react to shifters. Not for me.

Finley is an alpha otter shifter who used to be very successful in finance in the city. However the constant demands and long hours got too draining. He left the city behind and bought a place along the river in the country for his otter. Now he spends his time making jewelry and bowls. He has heard that someone had set up a camp at the bas of his mountain but he wasn't interested. Then two strangers show up at his door. One is an old man who may be a dragon shifter and a younger man who is magical in some other way. After talking about mates and having tea, they leave. Finley finds a word in the old man's teacup that says river. Finley goes to river and is investigating as an otter when he is spotted by a human omega. Finley is caught shifting on camera and he wants to eliminate the evidence without scaring the human too much. When a big storm hits, he invites Julian the human back to his place to stay dry. The storm keeps them trapped together long enough for real feelings to grow.

Julian has made his living as a social influencer. At first he really enjoyed thinking up content, filming it, editing it and posting it. Recently it has become boring and time-consuming. Julian has taken a couple of weeks off to hike and enjoy nature and do some serious thinking. Will he continue on with his influencing even when he is starting to hate it or will he start over in a new career. So far his vacation has been a bust. Bad storms have kept him trapped in a hotel room for almost a week. When a break in the storm comes, he goes out but the rain soon comes back. During a break in the rain, he has a strange visit by two men who had set up an unusual tent in his clearing. It even has a shower. They talk about love and keeping an open mind. When they leave, he finds the message river written in pebbles where their tent stood. He goes to the river and sees an otter who suddenly turns into a naked man. Julian now knows he is crazy.

After finally leaving the thankless corporate rat race, Finlay decides to invest into doing what he loves - designing jewelry. Of course, his otter is more than happy to be living by the river.
Still reeling from choosing the wrong omega as his mate, he doesn't trust his judgement. Even when Mr Lucas and Harry, lay all the clues out in front of him.

Julian is a human omega, who needed to get away for a while. Thinking some time out in the wilderness might help him to unplug form the pressures of social media and everything in general. Well, it didn't. Sever storms made that impossible. Meeting Mr. Lucas and Harry in the middle of the woods, didn't exactly help matters. Until it did.

With both of them being obviously nudged towards one another, Julian is freaking out over witnessing a human turn into an otter. Needless to say, their first meeting is a bit hilarious. Finlay trying to play it cool, while naked in the woods and Julian thinking he's some kind of nut luring him in.

All it took was a short amount of time in the same space and these two were goners. Julian leaves and Finlay chases him... in his truck. Ending up in two different places.

I'm so glad they finally got it together, but it was fun to witness the mix-ups along the way.

Time to wait impatiently for book six!

Malfunctioning copier, was the Finley's significant emotional event! Finley, alpha otter shifter, gives up a successful life in the city to move to a more aestethically otter pleasing environment. Those who thought they knew him best, gave him 6 month. 2 years later, he was still going strong, happier than he's ever been in his life and doing what he loves. His only downfall, was that he was lonely. Julian, was on a two week hiking trip. His first week, was glorious making the trip worth while. The second week was rain, rain, rain. Still beautiful, but wet, cold and wet. He videoed his adventures and sponsors paid for his lifestyle. Mr Lucas and Harry, pay Finley and Julian visits. I love how the couples accept and trust Mr Lucas and Harry. Julian, captured something he shouldn't with his video, learned some secrets and caused a compelling line of comunication. Does Finley reveal his otter? How does Julian feel about shifters? Will Julian leave the city? Sweet story. I felt content after reading it. Nicely done! This is book 5 in the Mated by Chance. This is the story of Finlay and Julian. Finlay is an alpha otter shifter. He has moved to the country to get away from the stress of city life. He now lives by his river and makes jewelry. His only regret is his lack of mate. Julian is an human omega and social influencer. He is tired of the never ending having to be on all the time. He is out on this camping trip to reevaluate what he really wants out of life. Once again, both are brought together by Harry and Mr. Lucas. Meeting a dragon shifter has a big impact upon both of them. And of course a severe storm never hurts either. This is their story. Both are looking for a change in their life. Could this be it. This is a well written book that is easy to read. It is short and sweet. I read it in one sitting. Looking forward to the next book in this series. I really enjoyed their story.

I received an ARC from the author and am providing my honest opinion.

This one in the Mated by Chance series was a little stranger than the ones prior but was entertaining nevertheless. Mr. Lucas and Harry did their odd matchmaking thing of course but to me it was more vague and not as direct as the connections in the past books. Finlay and Julian danced around each other for the better half of the story...the attraction was there but not really an instalove due to mistakes in their past lives. Finlay was a little bit more emotional than I'm use to seeing with an alpha which was sweet...shows his caring nature(his otter was cute too)...Julian was a little flighty but his timid nature was the right balance for Finlay. This is sort of a novella so the eventual mating and mpreg was kinda of rushed but we had very nice HEA for the couple.

Julian and Finlay's Story . . .

I really have enjoyed this series that provides the reader with the matchmaking antics of Mr. Lucas and his nephew, Harry, who bring together couples who need to find their mate and a HEA for us all to celebrate.

In this story line, Alpha shifter Finlay is an otter shifter who gave up his finance career in the city to move to the mountains in a home overlooking the river. He loves making jewelry now. Yet he is lonely without a mate. Julian is an Omega human on a vacation involving hiking a trail alone. When the lovely sunny weather turns cold and rainy, he is stuck in his tent with too much time to think.

Both Finlay and Julian are visited by Mr. Lucas and Harry who work their magic and arrange to get the two together. Both are looking for a change in their lives. Can they find that together?

Finlay and Julian are the next couple that Mr Lucas brings together through unexpected and unique methods.
They have a lot to work in trust and communication as well as believing in their feelings and instincts taking into account that Finlay almost lost Julian because of his insecurities.
It wasn't easy for them at the beginning because of their background and past. Finlay being an otter and being mistaken in the past about a mate and Julian being a human who didn't know about shifters.
It was sweet to see how they connected and to see their relationship blooms, the bundle of joy that completes their family and the future they made for themselves.
It was an endearing read and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

They're back! Mr. Lucas and Harry are making a match for two lonely men. How a dragon and a blue-haired something fae pair can be so charming and magical is a wonder to behold. This time their skills bring them to match Otter Finlay and human Julian. Their attraction is as immediately intense as it is inevitable. You will be swept up their lives from the first pages. I was. The descriptions are so vivid you can almost feel the rain, and hear the noise of the river, and the beating of their hearts. This is very low angst, high of sexiness, and full of joy. You are just going to love this book! Do yourself a favor and read the previous books in this series. It's time well spent.

This is another great book to read about shifers. Mr. Lucas and Harry are off to do somemore matchmakeing again. This time betewwn a human and an otter. Finley is tired of the city so he moves and builds his home next to the river. Julian is a human omega taking a break from his work for a mini vacation. While he is camping in his tent there are several rainstorms and one day he is out taking pictures and sees an otter. Julian is taking video of the river when an otter appears. He is excited at first then sees the otter shift into a human and Julian runs. Will Finley be able to explain shifters to Julian enough to make him stay? Wil Finley finally find the mate he is looking for?.

What a fantastic story that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I love to Finlay and Julian and how they met through meeting Mr Lucas been given the hint to go to the river. Finley is a otter shifter while Julian is a human male. Julian accidentally sees Finlay changing from his otter to being human again. Finlay chases after him. Then what starts off as Julian being scared of what he saw to a happily ever after with a baby following. There are lots of laughs and lots of sexy times between these two characters. Highly recommended to those who enjoy Mpreg MM romances.

This is book five in the Mated by chance series. The Matchmaker and Harry are present again. These stories are just sweet and a quick read. It is easy to be drawn into this guaranteed hea.
Finlay and Julian are a matched pair but both have to believe that and have a slight hick up before they truely believe it and find their hea with their little one
For me personally this was one of the least captivating stories in the seties so far so 3,5* for me. It is still an easy to read fairly short story which draws you in, I felt I needed just that little bit more.

Make Mine An Otter is Book 5 in the Mated by Chance series. Mr. Lucas and Harry are at it again. Finlay, an alpha otter shifter, leaves his life in the city behind. He settles by a river which makes his otter happy. Julian, an omega on vacation, has no idea his life is about to be turned upside in the best way. I love this series and this book is a cute addition. I love seeing Mr. Lucas's matchmaking skills as he gives just enough of a push for the couple to get together and realize they can't live without each other and have cute babies. I definitely recommend this book and series. I can't wait for the next book.

Finlay, an alpha otter shifter, spends his time making jewelry and playing in the river near his mountain cabin. Julian, an omega social media influencer, is taking a vacation away from life by camping in the woods. Finlay and Julian are visited by a mysterious pair of matchmakers who help lead Finlay to Julian. The meeting between the two is so sweet and funny. They're both reluctant to admit to wanting more than a knotty good time, but they'll have to if they want their HEA. Sweet, romantic MM read with a side of heat!

Finlay quit his job and moved by the river so his otter was happy also went to making jewelry. Julian went camping to figure out what he wanted to do, go a new path or keep making videos for social media. Mr. Lucas and nephew visited both of them and sent them to a place they would meet. Julian was scared at first when he saw Finlay turn into a man from his otter but accepted it. But stayed together! Good book!.

Brilliant addition to this series.
Finlay left his corporate job and move out of the city so he and his otter could enjoy a slower pace of life.
Julian went out to the country camping to decide on a change of career.
Both men were visited by Mr Lucas and Harry, when they left they left the message 'River'. Their meeting was a disaster, but with all good stories there is a happy ending.
Thoroughly enjoyed, can be read as a standalone, but this series is low anguish with happy endings.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Mr. Lucas and Harry match Julian and Finlay with a clue each. It might be an awkward first meeting but their attraction pulls them together. An added hint from Mr. Lucas keeps them together. Julian changes his life as planned and it fits very nicely into Finlay's professional life as well. Julian and Finlay are very well suited for each other.

Mr. Lucas and Harry Are Back At It Again

This is another good story in this shifter matchmaking series. It has been fun to read these stories with Mr Lucas and his nephew, Harry, helping bring couples to their HEA. This one has a human as one of the mates which gives the story a little different spin than the others have had but it is still a fun read.

Make Mine an Otter is a shifter romance and follows the story of Julian and Finlay who become mates with a little help from the Matchmaker. It was an ok story and overall an enjoyable read with some mpreg. The otter shifter was adorable and I enjoyed the addition. The book needed some attention to the timeline as some parts felt rushed and left me confused and other parts felt long and drawn out.

🌟 Loved This One!

This has been a very enjoyable series but I have to say that this story is my favorite so far. I love the way the two main characters meet, their reactions and interactions with each other are realistic and the chemistry is off the charts! the romance is swoon worthy with a very satisfying HEA. Also, I felt like two certain match makers were a bit more mystical which was fun. So engaging that I finished it in one sitting!

I enjoyed this short, sweet and steamy, low-angst match-making story. Julian and Finlay are so sweet together and exactly what the other needs. I love this series and the match-making duo of Mr. Lucas and his nephew. This story completely stands alone, but I encourage you read the rest of the series, too. Perfect for when you want a light-hearted, relaxing read.

Make Mine an Otter is book five in the Mated by Chance series. Finlay decided to get out of the rat race and do what he loved, making jewelry. He heads for the mountains. Julian loves hiking, he decides to take a two week vacation doing just that. When severe storms move in, he meets Mr. Lucas and Harry. They nudge him towards Julian. Overall, a great read, loved it. Well written with great pacing! Highly recommend.

It was a short and sweet story. Wasn’t sure what to expect when starting the book. This one was an easy reading.

The story focuses on the match-making attempt of Mr. Lucas and Harry on Finlay and Julian. Finlay is an shape-shifting otter and Julian is a vlogger (a blogger with video) who happened to film an otter shape-shifting. That’s where I’ll stop and let you read to find out what happens!
