4.5 - everything about this manga continues to be just so dang cute, what more is there to say? (I am tired of living off the mere crumbs of Tsuge and Minato that are given to us 😫)

I love how it went from taking them 5 volumes to kiss to them sleeping together by the end of volume 6. The magic is now gone so it’ll be interesting to see the misunderstandings and challenges these two will have to face from now on.

My favourite days are when I get a notification that a new volume of Cherry Magic has been delivered, and I can go pick it up after work, and then sit down on my little couch with a cup of tea and read the whole thing in one go, hearts in my eyes the whole time.

So Adachi is no longer a wizard! Their relationship has progressed, because they are both willing to be vulnerable and to take risks. They also both realize that it is better to talk to each other than rely on magic. There’s definitely a lesson in the importance of communicating rather than playing games or hiding in silence.

This is still such a cute series. I think I'll probably reread it before all before the final volume releases (hopefully this year!) because I feel like it loses momentum with all the breaks, but I still love these awkward boys.

REVIEW
Trouble is incoming, as Adachi gets the chance to open up a new branch for their company. His boss is impressed with his improved work ethic and confidence, so he offers Adachi a huge career opportunity. No one knows Adachi is in a relationship, so they think he's free to be sent elsewhere. It's a new challenge for Adachi's and Kurosawa's blossoming relationship, as they would need to be long-distance. Adachi is panicking, as he relies on his mind reading to know how to interact with his boyfriend and struggles to express himself. He's uncertain how he'd manage being so far away for work.

I liked how the volume tackled real-life challenges that can come up. Kurosawa is disappointed that Adachi was considering turning down the promotion without even telling him. It's up to Adachi to finally try to express his feelings and properly talk about his worries. I loved that he wrote a letter, it was so sweet! The ending made me swoon, but also brings up a lot of questions for the upcoming volumes!

Oh ho HOOOO!
Adachi, mind reader, introvert, and 30 yo virgin, is taking his first touring baby deer steps towards love and romance.

Oh sure, our dear Kurosawa and Adachi have mutually confessed their feelings, and gone on dates, and even (oh my PEARLS) smooched (!!!) but they're still navigating their roles in each others lives.

When Adachi is offered a job opportunity that would mean moving across the country, his confidence in himself and their relationship is shaken. Out of fear, he decides-- without consulting with Kurosawa-- to stay and turn down the promotion. He doesn't trust himself to be able to maintain a good relationship without being abot to read Kurosawa's mind.

Well. Unilateral decision-making is not great in relationships, and that plus Adachi's inability to put his feelings into words-- it all leads to hurt feelings.

Eventually, Adachi is able to put his feelings into writing, and then show Kurosawa nonverbally (Ursula sea-witch voice: Never underestimate the power of BODY LANGUAGE!!!).

It's a new frontier -- Adachi realizes he doesn't need to rely on magic to understand how his liver is feeling. He can't rely on the power of BOWCHICKABOWBOWWWW-- that and using his words to communicate, like a big boy.

And just like that, the magic vanished. Maybe because he, eh hem, graduated from virginity, or maybe because he finally grew into his confidence enough to not depend on it anymore.

Wow. Wow. Love these nerds.

I love this series! I love this series! I love this series! I may write spoilers so beware!

I am always anxious to see what will happen in this series next.

Because of a great work performance, Adachi gets recommended to oversee a new office 800 miles away. He doesn't want to be unable to touch Kurosawa in order to know what he is thinking, but he is also afraid that Kurosawa will break up with him. Unsure of what to do, he goes out drinking with a drink coworker and asks for advise. Of course, Kurosawa is not happy to find out from someone else.

Adachi is also not sure how to convey his feelings when it comes to how much he likes Kurosawa. It is nice to get into Kurosawa minds. Some of his thoughts are so funny.

Aww I loved when Adachi kisses him. I knew he was going to do it! And what happens after. (If they sleep together, then Adachi will no longer have the ability to read peoples thoughts.

I can't wait for the next volumes. According to Amazon, volume 7 gets released in May and Volume 8 gets released in August. I don't know how many volumes this is suppose to get before it ends, but I am looking forward to reading more.

I am not collecting books as much as I was before, but I would love to own these so I can read them over and over again.

I see the author of this series also has a series called Papa and Daddy's Home Cooking. I hope one day this series get an English translation and release.

This was a mistake reading this series in one sitting. I'm overdosed on happy vibes. Truly Adachi and Kurosawa are such ordinary people and they're navigating such an ordinary thing like having a relationship, but it's just so sweet and I'm so invested in knowing how their story ends.

And that's what makes this series so lovely and heartwarming, Adachi and Kurosawa continually remind each other that they aren't so abnormal or weird for being stressed or talking about theirs or for wanting to care so much for each other. It's all pretty normal, and the relief they have when they open up and talk about it makes me feel relief that they're able to work it all out together. They're such a weird, yet totally ordinary couple and I'm totally rooting for them.

Also Kurosawa is an absolute menace. As soon as he figures out that Adachi can read his mind he's like, "Perfect, now I can flirt with him ANYWHERE WHENEVER I WANT." Like truly my dude, you're kind of a freak, but I still love you.

Adachi is given an opportunity to transfer and he’s hesitant to take it. He doesn’t want to leave Kurosawa when they’ve just started their relationship and asks a co worker for advice. Kurosawa finds out and gets a bit angry and jealous that Adachi doesn’t trust him enough to tell him. I like that the relationship is not all sunshine and daisies. I like that Adachi is still unsure of himself and it makes you want to give him a hug to give him some reassurance that it’ll be fine. Adachi leaves to check out the place he might work at and writes a love letter to Kurosawa. Next thing you know Kurosawa follows Adachi and waits for him in the city of this maybe new job. They go to a hotel 😏, talk their feelings out and show their love for each other 😏. Adachi wakes up next to Kurosawa and does not hear anything when he touches him. Cliffhanger. The we see Tsuge feel dumb for trying not to look like a dad in Minato’s eyes.

This is a fantasy romance from Japan. In this world, at age 30, if you are still a virgin, you can read people's minds. Sounds cool, yes. Well, once you stop being a virgin, you lose that gift.

In this volume Adachi and Kurosawa take their relationship to the next level. Adachi wakes up and realizes he can no longer hear Kurosawa's thoughts. It will be interesting to see how things go from here.

Things went pretty quickly. Vol. 5 we had our first kiss and this volume, Adachi wanted to express his feelings and things sort of went their natural course.

Work is still trying to send Adachi to a city 5 hours away by air, it's at the opposite end of the Island. Will they go do a long distance relationship, or will they choose to stay together. That's where we are. I hope Adachi will stay with his new love. The other sounds horrible. Always chose love, I say. It's so rare a thing.

This is where the show and the books diverge a bit because the continuation of the promotion storyline is set into the film, not the episodic show. Regardless, HURRAH THIS. We earn the "explicit content" tag here (I'd argue it's more "mature" than "explicit," but I'm not in charge), but we also get a beautiful glimpse of relationship negotiation once sex is introduced--especially when one of the partners is inexperienced (and has a whole magic thing riding on it!). Kurosawa continues to be Bae but has a great moment of pushing back on Adachi's making decisions for him, which is so relationally healthy omg and Adachi gets to learn that a relationship takes two.

THIS STORY. IT'S SO UNEXPECTEDLY WHOLESOME.
