What a quick read! And yet, why am I surprised? It is Gene Edwards after all; but please don't mistake my comment - I don't mean that in a negative way at all!
For anyone who is familiar with Gene Edwards' books, they will know that the books are short, sharp and to the point, not forgetting powerful. Just one small paragraph on one page can have just as much of an impact as one chapter lasting 8 pages long.
The first half of the book in Jesus' POV of his betrayal, crucifixtion and ressurection. Now, I know this is a piece of fiction as we don't actually know what He was thinking or feeling during those moments of pain and suffering, but I tell you what, it was written in such a way that gave me goosebumps and made me feel like I was there, actually seeing and thinking what Jesus was going through. Such a fantastic piece of writing by Gene!
The second half of the book consists of all four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) put together in historical, chronological order following the Betrayal, crucifixtion and ressurection of Jesus Christ.
As a Christian, I found this book very touching and humbling. Jesus went through so much pain and hurt and yet, even at the last moment, when he was consumed by death, disfiguration and the stench of sin, He still looked at each one of us through space and time, to the past, present and future, and said, without malice or hatred or bitterness but love, compassion and grace "I did this for YOU, because I love YOU, Follow me"
I think even if you aren't a Christian or even perhaps unsure of where you find yourselves and are searching, this is a great book to pick up to get another view point, another take on the sacrifice of Jesus.
If I took anything from this book, anything at all, it's that no one is too flawed, beyond saving, not worthy, to recieve grace and redemption and eternal life. Jesus came for the Whosoever and it was for the whosoever that He suffered to the point of death, ' even death on a cross'
And lets not forget, HE IS RISEN!
Much Love,
