“I can help you become desirable in the eyes of men..”
Emily has had absolutely no success in finding a suitor. With all the pressure from her stepmother, she must make a match soon, or risk remaining a spinster forever. So, she does the ask her brother’s best friend, a known rake, to teach her how to make men desire her.
The infidelities of his father have made Daniel lose all faith in love and marriage. He has sworn to himself that when the time comes, his marriage will be one of convenience only. But all the wisdom he has acquired in his years as a rake can finally be used for good when a shy wallflower asks him for lessons in flirtation to secure a good match.
As Emily and Daniel’s lessons take place, though, he realizes he forgot to teach her the most important “never fall in love with a rake, especially if he falls for you too..”.

I really loved this book. I couldn’t put it down so I read it in one day. Daniel is a Duke and a known rake. He is also the best friend to Benedict, Emily’s older brother. Emily is in her second season and a terribly shy wallflower. Her stepmother dresses her in hideous gowns so she doesn’t out shine her younger stepsister. Daniel agrees to help Emily learn to flirt so she can attract a match and she is a quick learner. So much so that her charms begin to work on Daniel as well. Their attraction to each other grows but there are other forces that are bent on keeping them apart. This story has everything, an evil step-mother and step-sister, a deceitful rake, vengeance, A handsome and charming Duke, and a wallflower that finds her voice and her beauty.
Emily is in her second season, bullied and tormented by her stepmother and younger half sister, and ignored by her father and brother. Emily is a very, dowdy wallflower, poorly dressed, shy, and lacks self confidence. Daniel, a duke who has vowed never to marry and is a good friend of her brother, notices her predicament and offers to teach her how to flirt. Story is fun and entertaining until Daniel is obstinate and stubborn, refusing to marry Emily to save her reputation and forces her into an engagement with a real scoundrel. Ending takes too long to reach a satisfying conclusion! I was annoyed with Daniel’s silly vow not to marry, thus abandoning Emily when she needed him!
Duke Daniel was worried that he would be like his father with many infidelities and so did not want to marry. Lady Emily was in her second season and was a wallflower. Daniel was her brother's best friend and Emily had known him since childhood. She did not know how to attract men and eventually asked Daniel to show her how to flirt. He gave her some lessons and they were successful in attracting some suitors. However, perhaps the lessons were too successful. Daniel had sworn never to marry but he found himself jealous of other men as they hovered around Emily. Will Daniel realise he needs to put his fears aside if he is not to lose Emily. Read on and enjoy.
Her very own rake. Oh this one was cute taking lessons could bring all sorts of interesting things into Emily and Daniel’s life. Yes there are challenges two really big ones like a stepmother and sister who are rotten to the core but there will be others too. I did not think much of Emily’s father kind of a weak man not to stand up to his wife and let her abuse his oldest daughter but dad did get a bit better at the end. Thank the heavens she has a brother and he has a good friend who is a rake. It is a really good tale some drama, some villains, misunderstand, and it is all woven into a great love story. I really glad I picked this book up I hope you check it out.
In her second unsuccessful season, hopes of marriage for dull wallflower Emily Montgomery are fading, until her brother's best friend, the dashing rake Duke Daniel Bolt, offers Emily lessons in flirting (and more...). But has Daniel made Emily too desirable?
This reads like a schoolgirl's fantasy, with Emily magically becoming a gorgeous and flirty vixen seemingly after one conversation of "lessons" and a new dress. The lessons plotline was too rushed, leading to the rest of the book needing too many convenient situations to keep the story going.
An exceptional and well written story. Emily being a wallflower for two seasons finallyith lessons from Daniel. cones into her own. Daniel doesn't realize that he's in live with her and thinks because of his fathers past that he is bit worthy of her love. They get their HEA and two souls become one. Would highly recommend thus new author and her books. 🙂
Emily is a wallflower and Daniel is a duke and her brother's best friend but regardless the two had twists in their life and fell in love. The characters are strong and kind and and the extended epilogue is very good A well written and enjoyable read
Emily was a wallflower into her second season, while Daniel was a well known rake. It seemed impossible that they would be drawn to each other but the chemistry between them was off the charts. Luckily they were able to forge ahead with a loving relationship into marriage.
This is a great story! Excellent characters, although the stepmother (gives a bad name to good ones) and younger sister are vile creatures who deserve to be flogged. It was a nail biter to the end.
This was a awesome read. Wallflower to diamond of the first water. Loved how the teaching back fired on the Duke. Get your copy today you will love it.📚😍📚😍📚😍📚
.I love Sally, but the book did not flow in her normal style. The storyline had holes, and the reason they couldn't be together didn't make sense to me.
This is Sally Vixen’s second book. It is interesting to read her early work after reading much of her later work as I can see how her writing has progressed. Essentially it is the story of Lady Emily, a shy naive wallflower who has not attracted any suitors and is now in her second season. She is hindered by her unpleasant controlling step mother who dresses her in awful gowns, knocks any self worth out of her, and intentionally does everything to block Emily’s chances of success. Emily’s elder brother Benedict attends a ball with her with his good friend Daniel. Daniel can see that Emily is floundering in society and offers to help her learn how to engage with men. Emily quickly learns and achieves some results, but her confidence is low so she continues to seek advice from Daniel. Daniel is happy to help but realises he is attracted to Emily so tries to distance himself. He is against marriage due to the terrible example he had in his late father. Daniel also helps Benedict understand how badly Emily is treated by their stepmother and half sister, so Benedict steps up to support Emily more. Daniel breaks his own rules on more than one occasion but tries to protect her, not always with the expected results. It is a rocky road to their HEA with several hurdles and scheming characters to overcome. But there is some humour, romance, dastardly behaviour, and heroics. The story is a little disjointed at times but enjoyable nonetheless.
