CROC AND ALLY: THE BEST IN THE WORLD is a charming early reader of 3 short stories about 2 best friends. Ally has noticed that he has spots on his back and that Croc doesn't. He isn't sure how he feels about them, but Croc reassures him that he likes them and that they will always be a part of him. Croc is happy to try to help him feel better - even when it means he gets painted with spots. In the second story, Ally is prepared for anything and Croc is ready for lunch. Finally, Ally tries to be the best in the world at something, but the things he tries are too hard. Croc reassures him that he is the best in the world at something - being himself.
What I loved: These are a collection of short and cute stories that celebrate friendship and being true to yourself. The characters and themes will resonate with young readers who are beginning to observe themselves and how they compare to the rest of the world. Croc and Ally are delightful characters and fun best friends that children will love reading about. As an early reader, the book features short sentences, repeated sight words, and large and clear font that will help them read independently. The colorful and simple images work well for children who are learning to read but still love seeing their favorite characters in books.

Ally realizes he has spots and is not happy until Croc helps him out. Then Ally is worried about a lot of things, but Croc helps relax. And finally, Ally wants to be the best in the world at something, but what can he be the best at?
Croc may be a little grumpy at times, but he sure is a good friend to Ally and helps calm him down from needless worries. This was a cute little collection of friendship stories.
