Ice Breaker Cold Case #2

Falling for the Ice Queen

Rate this book
He’s more than a little rough around the edges…

Memphis Camden isn’t a nice guy. He’s big, dangerous, and has an extremely low tolerance for BS. A former bounty hunter, Memphis now has a deadly new target…a serial killer. Memphis has been tracking the guy for months, and he may just have found the way to drag the monster into the light. In order to accomplish his mission, he’s going to need help from an unlikely ally…

She’s elegant, poised, and a beautiful society queen.

Eliza Robinson doesn’t talk about her past. She tried going to the cops—long ago—but they never caught the man responsible for her abduction, and her powerful family made sure to bury every detail about that night. Now, she spends her days dodging the stiff guards her family keeps sending her way. Until someone very unusual steps into her path.

He’s not like the others. He’s fierce, ruggedly sexy, and more than a little uncivilized…

At first, Eliza thinks that Memphis is a new bodyguard. The attraction she feels for him is white-hot, stunning in its intensity, and it completely disrupts her carefully ordered life. But Memphis isn’t suddenly close to her because he’s on her parents’ payroll.

Memphis belongs to a group of cold case solvers called the Ice Breakers, and for his latest mission? He’s hunting the man who once turned Eliza’s world into a nightmare. Memphis wants her help because she is the only one who ever escaped from the monster. What Memphis doesn’t know…is that the monster has been stalking Eliza ever since she fled from him…

They are complete opposites.

The only rules that Memphis follows are the ones that he makes. He hits life full-force, with no apologies. Eliza is reserved, careful in all that she does, and always on her guard. They shouldn’t want each other so badly, but they do. Their attraction won’t be denied, and their sudden, forced proximity just throws them closer to the edge of desire.

Eliza is determined to help Memphis, and she’ll take any risk to end the nightmare that has haunted her. But with every moment that passes, the danger deepens around her, and soon Memphis realizes that closing the latest case isn’t his top priority. Protecting Eliza, making sure that she’s safe—that is his only goal. Because the refined and cautious Eliza may have just stolen his heart…

Author’s Note: Memphis never loses his prey. He’s alpha to his core, fierce and dedicated, and when he falls…oh, but he will fall hard. His latest cold case has taken him into Eliza’s high society world. The fierce attraction he feels for Eliza catches him off-guard, and all too soon, he can’t imagine his life without her in it. But, someone else has eyes on Eliza, too. Someone who has been watching her for a very long time. A cold case is about to ignite, and if they aren’t careful, Memphis and Eliza might just get caught in the blaze.

Dear God, The Memphis Camden!

I loved loved him. His witty banter, devil may care attitude and no bullshit motto. He reminded me of an adorable naughty child, who is everyone’s favourite and gets away with it because at core he is loyal and loving, who means no harm to anyone ever.

From the first meeting itself he was a goner for heroine Eliza.
Their pairing was spectacular. Poised, graceful and rich heiress versus rags to riches, brash but adorable and alpha bounty hunter.

I loved the mystery and how it was solved. I didn’t expect the killer to be who it was. There were many enjoyable subplots and characters. And the ending was perfect. I also enjoyed the dialogues. There were many instances where I laughed out loud.

Interesting, enjoyable, safe and recommended.

I loved how different this second book was from the first in terms of the characters' personalities and the mystery being solved. I also loved how immediately Memphis (H) was enamored with Eliza (h) and how upfront he was. He makes a significantly less spectacular first impression on her, but he quickly inspires a different emotion in her - hope. Because Eliza was taken and held captive by someone years ago, but doesn't have memories of it and the event changed her life. Memphis is there to find the man who took her because he, and his cold case solving group of friends, believe that man went on to become a serial killer, a killer who's still watching Eliza. Dun dun dunnnnnnn.

Written in third person, multi-POV (including side characters and potential bad guys). No ow drama, slight om drama from men around h who may or may not be interested in her (H gets jealous and suspicious of several guys), and neither are virgins (h has been celibate for a while and not sure about H). There are a couple of mentions, not explicit, of how H usually was with women in the beginning and I think less of a comparison would have been nice because I didn't think it added to the story and I'm sensitive about that, but H is so focused on h and she's so different for him, it didn't bother me too much.

So there are a lot of moving pieces in this story and I'm not spoiling it. It's one of the reasons I keep coming back to Cynthia Eden's suspense reads, I like that I'm genuinely not sure what's going to happen next or who exactly is involved in the crime. I might be able to guess a part of it, but I still haven't guessed the whole shebang yet. In this book, Eliza and Memphis are trying to rile up the killer and help Eliza remember. Eliza's wealthy family are a stumbling block at first and then supportive, but they're also clearly hiding some things from her in an effort to either protect her, themselves, or both. Other side characters are supportive or challenging and they can trust pretty much no one's motivations. There is definitely danger and heart pumping moments. Through it all though, Memphis is focused on protecting Eliza and he was constantly building her up and just getting on everyone else's last nerve lol. Eliza was so poised, but also vulnerably fragile, and wanting to be strong to solve the case not just for herself but for the other victims.

Chemistry-wise, I thought these two lit up the pages, mostly because of Memphis. Eliza's suffered through a trauma and then was dragged through the mud in the press, she's been a bit lost and stifled for a long time, plus she's used to being used and doesn't naturally trust what Memphis says. But he's super willing to lay out his feelings anytime. I did think that their relationship was in overdrive, but they were also in a forced proximity, high adrenaline situation. I like the way the steamy scenes were written and the timing though. I did wish that Eliza and Memphis talked more about his background, since we know things from his conversations with others and his thoughts, but I don't think some important elements were actually talked about with Eliza. However she did a dive into his background so *shrug*.

The actual climax was pretty intense and I thought it was well-done. I did question one character's choices but I do think they would have been more in self-protect mode so I suppose it's fine. The book does end with a HEA with them in love and an epilogue on their wedding day that was really sweet and had a sweet update on book 1's main characters too. Book 3's H was introduced in this story, but I think I'm jumping ahead to book 4 because the h of that one intrigues me more (she's been in both books).

Hello new top favorite hero!!! Memphis just rocked my alpha loving heart and I’m all his!

I absolutely loved Memphis’ snarky attitude that was truly nothing more than him telling it like it was. He had such a fun, lighthearted manner that had me smiling from beginning to end. But what really hooked me about his way of communicating with others was the fact that all those fun, truer than life comments, were covering up a hero that had the ability to back up every threat or promise he made. Add in all the protective, possessive traits that I adore, and yep, my heart is rocked.

’Her eyes widened. “Excuse me?”
His hand raked through his already disheveled hair. “There’s been an unexpected complication with your case. I’m finding that I’m jealous and possessive. Weird, but, it is what it is.”’

Eliza’s growth from victim to strong and determined survivor was wonderful. I loved that it didn’t happen overnight for her and by the time she took her stand, she was one tough cookie. Her initial responses to Memphis’ quirky ways added to my overall enjoyment of their story.

This was layered with a sense of danger from the beginning and the revelation at the end was shocking despite my determination to not be surprised. The steam between Eliza and Memphis was enough to fog my glasses as it melted the ice in my tea glass. The 104 degrees outside has nothing on this couple when they’re together!

Falling for the Ice Queen started off so well. Memphis was a unique hero with his painfully brutal honesty and no bullshit attitude that was hilarious. Unfortunately, it did not wow me as much I expected it to.

I detested how Memphis would make comparisons between Eliza and the women he'd previously been with, specifically in sexual situations. I could barely tolerate it in the beginning but even later on, he'd think how she was the most responsive lover he'd ever had, how she came the fastest as compared to his past lovers. Absolutely unnecessary and did not add any value.

Eliza wasn't a strong character either. I don't see why Memphis fell in love with her beyond her appearance and past kidnapping. I wasn't convinced of their love beyond the insta-lust.

The smut was great, it had an epilogue with their wedding, the suspense had twists and turns that i enjoyed, so I guess I'm somewhat satisfied. There was so much potential here though.

A enjoyable light re-read.

Eden is definitely an author I know I can unwind with. Do the stories have the same tropes - generally yes but it works.

Liked the sarcasm of male lead in this and his indifference to others judgements

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of, FALLING FOR THE ICE QUEEN". You'll be hooked from start to finish so much happens full of suspense, intrigue, heartache, danger, traumatic past, passion, serial killer, tears, humor, twists that make for on addicting story.
Memphis Camden is a former bounty hunter big, dangerous low tolerance for BS his new deadly target is a serial killer he's been after for months, he belongs to a group of cold case solvers called the Ice Breakers.
Eliza Robinson does talk about her past she from a wealthy family police didn't find the man that abducted her she was lucky to escape not knowing he's following the one who got away.
Eliza meets Camden thinking her parents sent another bodyguard there's an immediate attraction between them he needs her help the killer he's after is same one she got away from.
I definitely recommend to get this intense thrilling story following Eliza & Camden trying up catch a serial killer & survive will they get their HEA you must get this book with all the twist to see his it all plays out. AWSEOME AWESOME READ!!!!

Falling for the Ice Queen, the second in the Ice Breaker series tells Memphis' story. As he goes in search of the serial killer, he believes abducted and killed his friend Delilah's twin sister Layla, and his hunt leads him to Eliza. Who it seems was lucky enough to escape the killer and has a strange connection to them.

But Eliza can't remember much about her abduction or time spent held hostage before she escaped and what she does remember has been pretty much rubbished by local detectives.

And her family would rather she just forget it happened and move on. But how can she?

So when Memphis approaches and explains what he's trying to do she decides it's time to take control and the pair go off searching for answers.

But someone doesn't want them looking and will do everything possible to stop them.

And with suspense, some nice twists and a killer I didn't expect this was an enjoyable read and I loved Memphis and Eliza as a couple too.

Loved this book. Eliza may be quiet but she wasn’t a “damsel.” Memphis is sarcastic and funny. The only issue I have was the “love you” in a short period of time. Although the danger aspect helps negate that a little.

From the moment Memphis walks into that bar you just know he’s going to be a lot of fun. I absolutely love Memphis & Eliza!!! Every time they are together I can’t help but smile. Memphis is the man with no BS filter. He speaks his mind & it’s great to see each character’s reaction to that part of him. I also love the way he works with Eliza and treats her as his equal.

It’s also great to see Eliza’s evolution through the pages. You can tell she’s a tough person but there are a few times where it takes some cajoling to release that fight from her. And Memphis is just the guy for the job. I was intrigued with this story from page one and if I could, I would’ve stayed up all night reading because I did not want to put this book down. It was fun seeing the return of a few familiar characters as well.

And might I add that I usually have a pretty good idea where stories are going to go or who the bad guy might be but this book actually had me questioning whether I was right. It was refreshing to see that I can still be surprised by a story. Definite must read!!!

My thoughts:

I didn't like this as much as the first one in the series.

The Hero and Heroine didn't have any chemistry (in my opinion).

Hero is portrayed as a badass and at 50% in I have yet to see any such badassness.

Heroine is always stuttering and helpless and scared, it gets old.

It seems theres only romance (sexy stuff) at 50%, but nothing trhilling. I mean there's a serial out there guys.

I know who the bad guy is, it's pretty obvious from the beginning. There arent many options to guess about.

Hero is always smirking and winking, totally not badass.

The first sex scene was cringy, not good at all.

Overall I'm really disappointed in this installment and hope the next one is better.

4.25stars--FALLING FOR THE ICE QUEEN is the second instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult ICE BREAKER COLD CASE romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Ice Breakers, an online team of crime solvers whose goal is to solve cold cases. This is former bounty hunter turned tracker / Ice Breaker Memphis Camden, and Eliza Robinson’s story line. FALLING FOR THE ICE QUEEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from third person perspective FALLING FOR THE ICE QUEEN focuses on the hunt for a potential serial killer. Several years earlier Eliza Robinson was abducted from a local bar, held captive near a sunflower farm, and in her escape has no recollection of what happened or how. Fast forward to present day wherein Eliza, now followed by her father’s hired security team comes face to face with Memphis Camden, a member of the Ice Breakers Cold Case crime solvers, and the man with whom Eliza will fall in love. With the help of Memphis, Eliza begins to retrace every step and every action in the days leading up to, during and following her escape, a retracing that points a finger at too many suspects. Every year on the anniversary of her abduction, our heroine receives a bouquet of sunflowers, and another woman goes missing and is never found. As Memphis and Eliza begin to unravel the clues and lies, our couple will find themselves falling for one another. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Eliza and Memphis, and the potential fall-out as our couple are targeted by a killer who refuses to walk away.

The relationship between Eliza and Memphis is one of immediate attraction but Eliza believes Memphis is part of her father’s security team, then believes he is a possible stalker. Keeping Eliza safe becomes paramount for our story line hero, as her life is a constant state of secrets and lies. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Eliza’s brother Benjamin, their father Prescott, and his wife Kathleen; Eliza’s best friend Bethany Bancroft, as well as Detective Daniel Jones, Body guard Alec Davis, and Ice Breaker investigator Delilah Darrow, and her husband Archer Radcliffe, and Memphis’ half-brother Saint. The requisite evil has many faces.

FALLING FOR THE ICE QUEEN is a story of betrayal, vengeance, jealousy and madness. The fast paced premise is exciting and intriguing; the romance is provocative; the characters are energetic and charismatic.

I want to add that there are many similarities between the first and second books including secret half-siblings, and guilt-ridden full-siblings, I am thinking the author could be using more originality in her story line premises.

>.> I'm actually not sure if I finished this 11/11 or 11/12 so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OH THIS BOOK. LOL in this series so far it seems you need to be suspicious of EVERYONE. And I was right about [ ] ... there was one character I was side eyeing but ... they were "bad" in a different way. Heh.

I ... do wish there were some more details about a few of the main specifics/bad/the why/O_o
but ... yeah.
There was one I was ... like ... one part that I was like "oh come on now DRAW THE LINE BETWEEN THE DOTS" but at the same time I definitely understood why they didn't.
Low key I ... I mean I wasn't ANNOYED so much as frustrated with how much Eliza didn't tell Memphis. And also with Memphis for ... *sigh* being distracted/not thorough because he was way too sprung on Eliza/focused on sex and his emotions WHICH IS WHY I DO NOT LIKE WHEN THE BODYGUARD/PERSONAL SECURITY/WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT FALLS FOR THEIR CLIENT.
Like... if they were actually good at their job they should IMMEDIATELY STEP DOWN and put others in charge of the person's safety. They could still be around as extra eyes/to really stick close but to be the main point is ... unwise and we see this over and over and over.

It's also clearly one of my pet peeves.

I really liked Memphis and felt he wasn't as charming/didn't get to show the humor/quirky/orneryness that made him so much fun in his own book, ironically. [Also I guess Archer is just too easy to needle/it's adorable?]
Funny how I guess it's just ... yeah I felt he was more fun in not his book/had more/better personality.

There were SO many people Eliza had to be suspicious about and I guess there's no way on God's green earth I could put myself in her shoes/she already had to overcome so much so I'm sure [I think it says?] she like made the conscious decision to not.
But oof. OOF.

ESPECIALLY WITH THE ANNUAL SUNFLOWERS OH MY GOD.
.. I can't remember if Elijah showed up. COME ON PEOPLE MEMPHIS NEEDS BACKUP.

Glad Delilah and Archer showed. And Saint... awww. I had really thought we'd met him in another book/series but ... I guess not?

:P I'm already reading his book.

I'm not quite sure what to rate this book/if it should be three or four stars ... I think this would definitely be at least a B read ...
But I kinda think I like ...

it's weird. " " like, I liked Delilah and Archer's book more? The romance and relationship I felt was better developed ... but the "crime"/mystery aspect of Memphis and Eliza's book I felt was ... maybe not better but more engaging/you were looking around every corner like "WHO IS IT IS IT YOU?!"
And then the thing with her brother and dad ... so many misdirects!
Loved it!

So ... so far definite B ... maybe I'll re-read this (I mean I definitely will in the future but I mean like ... ~immediately/much sooner rather than later) to "add more to the review/decide."

As with all of Cynthia Eden's books, I enjoyed Falling for the Ice Queen. It has a very 'knight in shining armor' feel to it. Happily, for Eliza, she does have a knight to come and help her figure out what happened to her all those years ago.

Memphis is one of those people that is a dog with a bone. Once he's locked onto something there is no stopping him.

I think that's one of the things I like most about him. He's not someone that will give up when the going gets bad. Eliza needs someone like that in her corner. She's been through hell and back only to have no one really believe her other than her father and brother. That is until Memphis came into her life. He not only believes her, but he also wants to help her figure out what happened to her and stop the person from killing people.

I very much enjoyed Eliza and Memphis' story. They are good together. Eliza is a really nice person that needs someone in her corner that will always be there for her no matter what or who tries to get in their way.

In the same way that Eliza needs someone on her side, Memphis needs someone to just love him. I think before Eliza Memphis only really lived for the hunt. He lost himself in a world that was full of bad people and darkness but Eliza brings the light into his life.

They both are a good balance of light and dark. They will bring what the other needs to their relationship. They are stronger for being with each other. Falling for the Ice Queen is non-stop action with tons of romance. You won't want to put it down until you know who's doing what. You'll also enjoy meeting Memphis' brothers whose story is coming soon.

Great story and always I want more from her. Have any of you read her? It's best to read this series in order because it will help you understand parts of this story better and give it depth. Not to worry there is only one book before this one.

Parts didn’t make sense and I didn’t like either of them.

So much of this book didn’t make any sense, that I’ve been left with a bad taste in my mouth. It felt like the author was going for shock and awe and it worked but it was ridiculous and not even possible. There’s way too many possible suspects who took Eliza, and way too many men who look at her with lust in their eyes. The author almost describes Eliza as having an eating disorder as she has major ptsd and struggles to eat. Yet none of her ‘loving family’ seem to notice or do anything to help her. Yet they all take issue with Memphis who barges his way into her life and takes over her security and is always with her. Eliza is sinking fast and no one notices???? Her dad tries to control her and bosses her around as though she’s incapable of making a decision, and she just goes along with it! Her brother also joins in, then Memphis takes over her life and he does it too! Everyone treats her like she’s incapable of making her own decisions and she lets them believe it!

Eliza is a rich party girl who one night was taken by someone, drugged and when she managed to escape has no memory at all of where she was and who took her. Fast forward a few years and the ice breakers believe that she was taken by a serial killer and she’s the only who survived. They have no bodies, there’s no evidence that they were all killed, half of the victims timelines don’t corroborate what they all suspect. Yet they all believe that a serial killer is taking women and killing them on the anniversary of when Eliza was taken. IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE!

Memphis is part of the icebreakers and wants to use Eliza to lure out the murderer. Along the way they ‘fall in love’ and yet again I didn’t believe in them. Eliza is having sex with Memphis but tells everyone that he doesn’t care about her and is using her. Memphis gets angry and hurt at that but never tells her he’s falling in love with her, and she’s his one and only.

I didn’t like this book. I didn’t like Eliza, and I really didn’t like Memphis who treats Eliza like she’s just a commodity to him. Nope!

I don't like to rehash the plot or give away any secrets, so I'll stick with talking about why I liked the book, the characters, the writing style, etc. I love Cynthia Eden (CE) books. This one didn't disappoint. I loved the two main characters, loved seeing some old favorites, and am intrigued by new characters we get introduced to as well as a few that we've seen before but don't know their stories (yet).

Memphis was a character introduced in Frozen in Ice (Book #1) that I couldn't wait to get his story. He keeps you off kilter with his comments that twists the answer to what was asked, but he shown himself to be bad@ss and intense and loyal and interesting. I wanted to see what made him tick. So to see that he was the hero of Falling for the Ice Queen, I knew I was in for a wild ride.

Eliza at first look, seems like a walkover type of character. That's what she shows the world. But what we learn is that she is dedicated, determined, sassy, powerful woman in her own right. Most people would assume she was broken, having been the only one that escaped a brand new serial killer, but they don't see her as Memphis sees her.... as a strong, capable, independent although scared woman who is ready to fight to find out what happened to her many years ago.

As for the writing, CE always writes true to life conversations, builds connections between characters that really draw the reader in, steams up the pages with incredibly HOT HOT s@x scenes, and builds characters that we just can't get enough of. Swoon worthy couples, with no cheating, possessiveness that doesn't creep into the creepy, and strong wills that keeps the reader captivated. The plot always makes sense (no out of left field resolutions), is paced to keep the readers attention. Basically, I love this book.

This a fabulous read. The not rich guy falling for the ice princess. Guessing who the guilty party is, isn't easy. There are so many suspects. It comes as a surprise when the guilty party is revealed and the shock is astounding.

Memphis is part of the ice breakers. When he follows a lead to the murderer, he gets more than he bargains for. He falls head over heels with Eliza, his princess. He is hopelessly devoted to her and it pays off in the end. She is just as taken by him. Here begins a beautiful romance. Whilst hunting for the one who abducted Delilah's sister, he meets Eliza who promptly pours his beer over his head and instantly he is love.

Eliza is from a wealthy family and he is a hunter and is good at what he does. They form a working partnership which turns into a very good romance. He is protective and she comes to mean more to him than he ever thought possible. As they work together, there are numerous suspects, but as a victim herself, she struggles to recall the events leading to and during her abduction. It's difficult to identify the culprit until all is revealed. I must admit that it's hard to reconcile her abductor to the revelations. Besides, there is more to it that meets the eyes. Memphis is always there for her until they catch the guilty party. They are a formidable couple and work well together for most parts.

It's nice to revisit past members of the group. It includes mostly everyone who helps solve this mystery. I love Memphis's personality and his no nonsense approach. It's like the princess and the pauper.

I love every bit of the story and the suspense is not for the faint hearted. The ending is so romantic, almost like a fairy tale come true. I really enjoyed reading this second installment and would recommend to all interested parties. Love it.

Oh My God, where to start!!! This was one amazing read, I'm still trying to come down of my Memphis high here, I'm trying to whipe away the dreamy hearts in my eyes so I can write this review.
Ms Eden, you've done it.... Jax was always my number one, no one in your books did better, Dex came close but Memphis... he pushed Jax of his throne.

We met Memphis in the first Ice Breaker book when he helped out Delilah. He's part of their group and used to be a bounty hunter. In a way he still is, he tracks people/culprits/murderers, you name it to close cold cases. He's on one of those cold cases when he tracks down Eliza. She's the sole survivor of an abductor that he believes is a serial killer, also responsable for the dissapearance of Delilah's sister. He's blunt, rude, unapologetic and extremely deadly. He's also very attractive and over protective. He wants to use her to help him find the killer but the moment he spots Eliza he's struck by lightning and falls in love with her.

Eliza at first thinks Memphis is one of the new bodyguards her father keeps hiring to keep her safe. He seems to be the only one really believing her and she agrees to help him in finding the killer. The attraction betweem them jumps of the pages, they burn up the sheets, only.... Eliza doesn't realise that for Memphis she's the one. He'll do everything to protect her, he'll even kill for her.

I can't begin to explain how much I loved Memphis in this story, it was so clear in all his movements and behaviour how much he cared for Eliza. He fell for her head over heels and she became his whole univers.

This is by far the best book I've read by Ms Eden, it's going straight to my favorites.

Cynthia Eden has done it again. Her new romantic suspense is an enthralling page-turner with a lot of action and intrigue. It also includes a handsome, big, strong ruff-and-tough “bad boy” who oozes with sexuality. Memphis is a member of the Ice Breakers. They are a group of online crime solvers whose main goal is to solve cold cases. At the moment, Memphis is searching for a serial killer who has already murdered six women.

Eliza was kidnapped years ago, but had managed to escape on her own. Many people do not believe she was actually kidnapped because they were never able to find any proof. However, Memphis believes that Eliza was the first victim of this serial killer. Therefore, he plans to use her knowledge to help him find the killer. Unfortunately, when Eliza first meets Memphis she is scared to death of him. She actually pours a bottle of beer on him. As a result of her attitude, Memphis immediately falls in love with her.

On the other hand, Eliza is the complete opposite to Memphis. She is quiet, inhibited and apprehensive. She has never come to terms with her kidnapping. Therefore she has nightmares and is always looking over her shoulder to see if someone is after her. However, these are the very reasons that Eliza chooses to join forces with Memphis. She wants to find out who destroyed her carefree life, and is killing all of these other women and. She feels safe with Memphis. As it turns out, the chemistry between Memphis and Eliza is out-of this world.

The author gives the reader a lot of misleading clues that will confuse the readers.

This book is a page-turner filled with non-stop action, intrigue, and steamy hot sex

Eliza Robinson managed to escape from her abductor but in the seven years since she's never been able to escape from the memories. So when Memphis Camden shows up with an offer to help her catch the man responsible, it's a no brainer to join forces and eliminate all the memories that have her still running scared.

I really enjoyed this one. I loved Memphis in the first book and he was fantastic in his own. Much like Dex from Cynthia Eden's Wilde Ways (#10: Say I Do) Memphis was quirky, dangerous and unapologetically himself and I rated it. Eliza was great as well, smart, level headed and not prone to dramatics. The Ice Breaker plot was still not as prominent as I would have liked but it was much better than the first one, introducing the team and giving a bit more of the personalities they each have.

The romance was instalove - and about everything you expect in a romantic suspense. Together Eliza and Memphis were steamy, funny and enjoyable to read about. I liked how they worked together and the investigation into the case was acceptable. A bit thin in places but it did manage to incorporate a few twists I hadn't seen coming. The relationship between the Robinsons was great and I adored the interactions between Memphis and Eliza's dad - they were hysterical.

A great romantic suspense with lots of romance, a decent amount of suspense and a bunch of humour. 4 stars.

Great book!

Yet another fantastic book from Cynthia Eden. Similar to book 1in this series, this book caught my attention right from the beginning and had me rooting for the MC’s before chapter 1 even concluded. Memphis is a no nonsense guy who says it as he sees it. He doesn’t lie and at times, have no tact. But I love that about him. Love how direct he is. It also helps that he’s such a macho, alpha male who’s super protective of those he cares about. And he cared about Eliza right from the moment he met her, when she poured beer down his shirt. Although she was abducted 7 yrs ago and escaped, she is strong and a survivor. She’s a good match for him and I like how strong their chemistry is. I enjoyed their interaction and watching their relationship grow.

The plot is very interesting. There’s lots of suspects that has me guessing throughout the book. There’s also twists and turns as each new info/discovery is revealed. I enjoy the mystery and the actions that ensures.

What I like best about this author’s writing is that although the book deals with a stalker/serial killer, it’s not heavy and dark. It concentrates more on the mystery than the darkness of these bad guys, like some other books like to do. I don’t feel dragged down by the heaviness of such disturbing characters. There humor and displays of strong friendship bonds between the characters.

I recommend this book and series and can definitely see me reading it again.

I received an advanced reader copy to leave an honest review of this book. I have read many of Cynthia Eden's works and really enjoy her writing style. This is the second book connected to this new series but can be read as a stand alone. Overall a really enjoyable book with a good plot line. Lots of romance but with some murder and intrigue.

This book follows Memphis who is a former bounty hunter who is now trying to track down a serial killer. His best lead is Eliza who appears to be the first and only victim who escaped the killer. Eliza has been living in a protected bubble just floating through life the last few years until Memphis tells her he plans to track the killer. Then she wants to help any way she can to bring justice for the other victims. So Memphis helps her start to remember which in turn brings out the killer. Through it all, Memphis starts to fall for Eliza and for the first time in years Eliza finally feels safe. It's just a matter of racing the clock to finding the killer before he comes for them.

Overall a good book and very well written. Only part I struggle with is the redundancy of the obsession the main characters have with each other. They fall in love but it is a bit much to take sometimes as it starts to be the focus of the book instead of catching the killer.

Another riveting mystery in this new series. Eliza Robinson survived being kidnapped, but she wasn’t completely believed by the authorities. It wasn’t a stunt, it was terrifying and she is still being terrorized by her kidnapper. To Memphis Camden, former bounty hunter and member of the Ice Breakers, this case is personal as a dear friend’s sister was also taken and he believes they are dealing with a serial killer. He is brutally honest in an often-sarcastic manner, but he vows to catch the killer with her help. When she remembers details that were not in the police report, he is sure that she is the key to solving the case. If only she could remember everything that happened that night. He will get justice for her and the other women as this is what he does, he finds the monsters and destroys them. They didn’t plan on the white-hot attraction that developed between them, but she and her safety are even more critical to him. Of those involved in her life she is not sure who she can trust, but she does know that she can trust Memphis! A heart racing finish to this amazing mystery! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

I really loved this read. Memphis is a former body hunter now part of Ice Breakers (they solve cold cases) and he's looking into using Eliza, the first victim of a certain killer. She was the only victim to get away.

Memphis' best friend, also a member of Ice Breakers, Delilah, her sister was also taken by this killer. Finding this killer is top priority.

The moment Memphis sees Eliza and she pours a beer over him he is gone. She is it for him and he will use her yes, to find the killer but he will also protector with all that he has.

Once Eliza finds out that there were other women taken after her that never returned home, she is all in. She knows that Memphis is using her but doesn't care. She wants to find and stop the killer.

Eliza's family isn't too thrilled with Memphis but her VERY rich father comes to the realization that Memphis really cares for Eliza and won't stop them from working together.

This is one where I was not able to figure it all out quickly (I'm usually pretty good with this in all of my reads). Cynthia through me a twist that worked SO well.

I hope you all enjoy the read as much as I did.

Fantastic story. Literally gave a round of applause after completing. That’s a first for me. Wow. Intense, gripping and thrilling mystery. I absolutely couldn’t guess many of the little twists but had the overall picture pretty much developed to match the reveal. I loved this, thoroughly enjoyed reading every minute.

This story was actually a lot better than the first, just for its thrill. I loved the first too, but it’s been a minute so I don’t remember much of it, other than that the antagonist was easy to guess for me. But just based on the memory factor here, I don’t think I’ll be forgetting the details of this story anytime soon. So just based on that, this sequel was a straight home run.
Will definitely be reading more from this series if she continues and more mysteries from the author.

Seven years ago, bloody and bruised Eliza returned to her father’s home , right in the middle of his engagement party. Eliza was a party girl but after that day, she is a shell of herself. One the anniversary of her kidnapping, someone leaves sunflowers, no matter where she is. Memphis is a former bounty hunter and is hunting a serial killer. He believes Eliza was the first victim but she escapes and can’t remember anything. His friends sister was taken and he believes it was the same one. Memphis takes her back to the place she escaped and she starts getting flashes, bits and pieces of pictures. Memphis is shot and Eliza is taken and it’s a race to find her.

Suspense ( which I had an idea who the killer is ). Sex. I loved it. Memphis is brave and an ultimate alpha. Eliza is beautiful but a little broken. Memphis will do whatever it takes to get her back.

Words do not do this book justice

Look, Cynthia Eden would write a grocery list and I'd be like, wow, amazing, had me second guessing to the very end. That's literally how talented of an author she is.

That being said, this was far from a grocery list. Falling for the Ice Queen is probably my second favorite Cynthia Eden book, it was that good. It was intense from the very start and Memphis with his bad boy alpha ways was an absolute cinnamon role for Eliza. That right there sealed the fate of this book for me.

Eliza was such a strong woman, one who had nightmares following her every move and she deserved peace and the ability to just live after being kidnapped and escaping.

The suspense was top notch, all the characters flowed so well and I liked all of them which made the end very shocking. The heat was there, but honestly, it was Memphis's absolute obsession with Eliza that did it for me.
