Make way for another riotous adventure in the Very Impatient Caterpillar series that slyly combines science and social-emotional learning with laugh-out-loud humor! Perfect for fans of Mo Willems’ Pigeon series. “Full of witty banter…a buzzworthy choice.” ― Kirkus Reviews How did YOU collect SO MUCH POLLEN??? I have sticky hairs EVERYWHERE! Oh! I'm not sticky enough. It's okay. You don't need to collect as much pollen as a bee. Just be a butterfly. Right. You're saying I need to be STICKIER. This hilarious final installment in Ross Burach’s Very Impatient Caterpillar series playfully encourages readers to love who they are, while also illuminating the importance of pollinators to our ecosystem.
I received an electronic ARC from Scholastic, Inc. The Very Impatient Caterpillar is back and though he is now a butterfly, he still has a hard time listening. He meets a bee who is pollinating flowers and only hears that he, too, is a pollinator. Rather than be a butterfly, he tries to do what Bumblebee does with disastrous results. In the end, he finally listens and does his part to make more flowers grow. Lovely illustrations support the humor. I appreciate the information shared along with the story.
This book is so much fun! Two great themes that we touched on in storytime! Just be yourself, because you have something special to contribute! Don't try to be like others, just be you! Also, butterflies are pollinators that can carry pollen long distances, while bees must stay close to their nests. After trying to be a bee, butterfly finally learns that he has his own special place in the ecosystem! Really silly illustrations, the kiddos LOVED this one! So many giggles!
Another terrific adventure for the Impatient Caterpillar - now a Butterfly. When he meets a very busy bee, the Bee explains that he is a pollinator just like the Bee. But the Butterfly just wants to be just like a Bee with disastrous results.
Lots of good information here in a comedic story with Ross Burach's laugh-out loud illustrations. Science fun.
MAKE WAY FOR BUTTERFLY illuminates the importance of pollinators, but is also an identity story with an underlying message of self-acceptance. It’s ALSO full of chaotic, witty humor. (And probably another Also, I’ll need to give it another read.) This is my favorite in the Impatient Caterpillar series.
Another cute butterfly adventure! This book highlights the pollination process which causes butterfly to want ti become a bee. He soon realizes he can’t become a bee but still provides an important contribution to the ecosystem.
This was a great addition to the very impatient caterpillar series. This is actually probably my favorite companion yet! It's hilarious how much the butterfly wants to be a bee until it's pointed out that butterflies are necessary to the world, too.
I read this with my 8 yr old. He thinks it's hilarious. We have read and re-read it a few times. We can each read the bee part or the butterfly part. It's funny and we learned about pollinators and how they are important.
For me, this is a standout favorite from the stacks of new library books our school library recently received. I am looking forward to sharing this with probably 2nd & 3rd grades in April for a library lesson.
5 yo found this after she returned A Very Impatient Caterpillar (which she adored). She was so excited to find a sequel! Just like that one, she loved this one too! We must have read it each day she had it and I caught her flipping through it by herself too.
Burach and the Impatient Caterpillar/Butterfly are back in a funny tale of a the butterfly who wants to be a bee instead of a butterfly, until he figures out that butterflies have particularly special talents that only they can do.
Butterfly learns from a Bee that he is a pollinator. Although not as equipped to collect and spread as much pollen as Bee, Butterfly is determined to prove his worth to help flowers make new flowers. Laugh out loud fun.
Just be a butterfly! Butterfly learns that he has a very important role to play in pollination, even though he is not a bee. Great reminder to just be yourself!
Our frenetic butterfly is back, with much to learn about the science of propagations, limitations and abilities. He can land a pratfall like no other bug.
even though the audiobook does make the butterfly voice super annoying, I do like the content of these books and they are fun reads with good information for kids.
