On New Year’s Eve in The Sisters, Texas, anything is possible. Madison and Brash deCordova are hosting a masquerade party, so a bit of mystery and drama is expected. Murder, however, seems a bit drastic, even with Madison’s knack for finding dead bodies. The victim is Anastacia Rowland, owner of the new café in town directly competing with New Beginnings. Madison’s best friend Genny owns New Beginnings and is under undue stress, dealing with postpartum depression plus threats of a lawsuit against her business.
When incriminating evidence points to Genny as the primary person of interest in her rival’s murder, Brash recuses himself from the case. Now Officer Misty Abraham is leading the investigation, and Madison knows Genny needs someone in her corner before she’s charged with a crime she didn’t commit.
While Officer Abraham sets her sights on Genny, Madison scrambles to find other viable suspects with motive to kill the café owner. Brash warns her not to interfere in the case, but she’s determined to clear her friend’s name. Even though it puts a strain on their marriage, Madison enlists Granny Bert, Virgie, and Derron to save Genny’s future.
Now to beat the clock before a formal arrest is made!

Best-selling indie and hybrid author Becki Willis loves crafting stories with believable characters in believable situations. Many of her stories stem from her own personal experiences. (No worries; she's never actually murdered anyone).
When she’s not plotting danger and adventure for her imaginary friends, Becki enjoys reading, spending time with her family, unraveling a good mystery (real or imagined), dark chocolate, and a good cup of coffee.
A professed history geek, Becki often weaves pieces of the past into her novels. Family is a central theme in her stories and in her life. She and her husband enjoy traveling but believe coming home to their Texas ranch is the best part of any trip.
Becki has won numerous awards—including two Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Awards, InD’Tale’s coveted RONE, and been named Finalist for two Claymore Awards—but feels the real compliments come from her readers. Drop in for an e-visit anytime at beckiwillis.ccp@gmail.com, or www.beckiwillis.com.
Murder Magnet Maddie strikes again. You would think murder could take a holiday for a New Year's Eve party. Maddie trips over a body outside The Big House which brings the party to an end. The victim is her BFF Genny's restaurant rival which means Genny is the prime suspect. Brash recuses himself from the investigation because they are friends. Lots of twists, turns, and Maddie getting in the middle of the investigation to save Genny from being falsely accused of murder. Granny Bert along with Virgie and Devon get in on the action while Brash get mad when he finds out Maddie is investigating even though he asked her to stay away from it. Some friction among friends and family but all ends well with a murderer caught and a happy celebration at the end.
While adjusting to having a husband, suffering overwhelming post-partum depression with medication that doesn’t work, two baby girls under two, plus and old employee is now an enemy with her eye firmly on Cutter, Genny gets direct competition from newcomer Anastasia for her breakfast and lunch crowd, witnessed by the town’s most malicious gossip!
During a New Year’s Eve masquerade ball at their home Maddie literally trips over Anastasia’s body! With Genny’s knife at the body and the crime on his property, Brash recuses himself and his deputies don’t feel they need to look further than Genny. All the more reason for the gang to start their investigation! Never let it be said the Sisters is a boring small town! Rating: 4.5stars
A masquerade party murder A delightful heroine who will not let her best friend Genny go down for murder. Madison is tenacious and digs deep to find the motive behind the latest murder. A mysterious twisting tale of who done it, with characters who are lifelike and it made me feel like I was in the middle of the small town watching all the drama. Well done realistic characters, great dialogue and a well thought out plot. This is a stand alone read that is just as enjoyable a read if this is the readers first or the 14th book read in this series. Sweet, romantic and serious, a fun and enjoyable read. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
There’s a nefarious scheme in The Sisters, but Madison and Genny don’t know what it is. Genny’s restaurant seems to the focus as a competitor opens a new restaurant and other events seem tied to sinking Genny’s business. But why? When Madison trips over a body at her home, Genny quickly becomes the suspect—it is her knife in the victim’s chest. When Brash recuses himself from the case, Madison must connect all the events to prove Genny is innocent. I enjoy the humor, the small town setting, the families, and the mystery.
I LOVE this series! Becki Willis does an excellent job with character development. You can’t help but fall in love with the main characters in her stories. As a reader, I can’t wait to find out what happens to the characters in the next book. Also the plot development in all her books keep me guessing the whole time. Please Becki don’t ever stop writing this series. I read a lot of books, and this by far is my favorite author!
Becki, I know you’re Mom is smiling down on you and is so proud. You again wrote a great, clean!, enjoyable story. I could not put this book down. Please tell me this series is not coming to and end anytime soon? I will be reading your other books as well. I enjoy them so much, and I am still amazed at the difference in all the story lines in this series!!!
this is another suspense story in the series this one is set on new years eve. maddie finds another body at her home and someone is framing genny. and siloh dawn is back and has changed and wants cutter it is good to see the older ladies helping find out what is going on and the twins and megan are seniors now very good story i was given a copy but this is an honest review
Another great addition to the series! This series is one of my favorites and the new books never disappoint. It was hard to see Genny struggle so much in this book but I appreciate the author addressing something that so many women struggle with. This one felt more serious than some of the others but I loved how the ending played out. I highly recommend this series, author and this book!
I love this series and this book is an excellent addition to the series. The story is well written and full of the small town flavor that the towns nicknamed the Sisters is known for. The characters are well developed and the mystery well plotted. Can’t wait to read the next one!
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
An intriguing mystery story once again. Maddie always seems to get involved in murders. Wherever she goes, there’s a body. This time her friend is accused and she has to try and find the real killer. Don’t miss out.
As the 14th book in this series, I enjoyed it as much as all the rest. I have been reading a lot of nonfiction and when I’m saturated with that I turn back to lighter reading and these are some of the ones I turn to for great fun reads
Another great addition to this series. I've loved reading every one of these books and as always, can' wait for the next one . Great job, Becki Willis 🙂
Oh. My. Goodness. This book was quite the page turner. Especially towards the end. Fun. Entertaining. Suspenseful. Recommend to those who like a good “who dun it”
