Yūki Tabata (Japanese: 田畠裕基, Hepburn: Tabata Yūki) is a Japanese manga artist.
After working as an assistant to Toshiaki Iwashiro, he created the one-shot Hungry Joker, which was later serialized as a full series. After its conclusion, he launched Black Clover.
From the first few chapters it seems quite normal for Black Clover. Great fight scenes and character interactions. However this all changes the further you get. Asta is depicted on a clock tower with Liebe following the climatic showdown with Lucifero. If you look closely, time has slowly rewinded since the beginning of this arc… something is evidently afoot but this can be easily missed during an initial read. Many other loose strings were left following the “final battle” including the disappearance of Lucifero’s heart. I was afraid Black Clover was potentially getting sloppy as it neared a close, but this was not the case. Julius Novachrono, the wizard king, is confronted by his men. The last supreme devil, the only one not dealt with during the incident at the Spade Kingdom is the devil of time. Unfortunately for Julius, he is the only time mage across the world. In addition to this, his grimoire cover was never revealed throughout the entirety of the series. Meaning there is still mystery as to where his allegiance lies. Then, the final devil, Lucius awakens in Julius’ body. He had laid dormant for a long time but he knew it was time to strike. He reveals how he was able to coexist with Julius and was responsible for the phenomenon of time magic. His devil henchmen brought him Lucifero’s heart and he powered up. This twist is genuinely one of the best in shonen manga I’ve seen in a while and it has me very excited and interested for the final arc of Black Clover.

This volume is such a mixed bag. On one hand, the Lucifero fight has got to be an all time low for this series. Like Dragon Ball levels of braindead action without any real substance. But on the other hand, the reveal at the end about King Julius really does get me excited for the finale of this series. Sister Lily getting taken, Asta getting separated from the group and sent to Yami's homeland, the promise of the first half of the final arc being Yuno vs King Julius while Asta trains with Yami's family. This volume promises an imminent rise in quality that I hope comes quickly.

Brash boldness, determination and help from your friends in all their little ways; that is Asta's way of the ninja magic knight. And it does you pretty good when it comes to KO-ing Satan-analogue #200. But all that means nothing if not only does your crush reject you (cuz she's always seen him as a little brother), not only does your head honcho boss turn out to be a twist villain (seriously, they even said that "this is just like that case with the possessing elves!"), but now hooooooboy...
I am sorry but I so don't care about Charlotte and Yami together. I never rooted more for a devil union. Magnificent and heartbreaking. This rating is due to the Astaroth plot twist. I DON'T LIKE IT AT ALL. Asta kun...
I didn't realize volume 32 was released all the way back in April. Overall, I enjoyed it but the new arc feels very forced, at least right now. The fight between Lucifero comes to an end but of course, this is not the end. There is a huuuge twist which I'm not going to spoil but I'm not sure I like it. Since the second half of the volume acts as an introduction to the 11th Arc, it was okay. I guess we'll see what happens after this point. Good volume but I'm on my guard for the future of the series.
The only real problem I have with this volume is that it feels a bit rushed as immediately as we finish the fight in the Spade Kingdom and the end of that arc we barely get a chapter of breathing room before the next big arc start off. I just wished their would have been a bit more filler just to give the reader a bit more breathing room. But the next arc looks intriguing as we learn more about Julius and what happened to the missing Demon King.
En esta portada tan bonita se nos revela al enemigo final. Hay cosas que sigo sin tener en claro, pero BC se ha puesto serio. Muy bien ese enemigo final. Y muy tierna la declaración de Asta a la hermana.
After the last Volume's huge cliffhanger, I knew this one would be good. Highlights: - Asta and Liebe achieve true Unite after sharing thoughts of their lost mothers. - With their powers of Anti-Magic (with a quick help from Yami and Nacht), they are able to defeat Lucifero - After being healed, Yami gives Asta his old katana - Yuno meets his mother, Ciel Grinberryall, who is Queen of the Spade Kingdom. Yuno rejects going with her to become the heir and ruler because of his rivalry with Asta and desire to be the Wizard King - Current wizard King Julius realizes that Astaroth was the only wielder of Time Magic. This revelation opens his corruption and he grows up back to an adult, but... (more in a moment) - Asta receives a special promotion and becomes First Class Senior Magic Knight, then, because he is 18, confesses his love to Sister Lily as a last attempt to win her hand. She claims he is more like her brother and rejects his proposal while strengthening their friendship - Lucius Zogratis has absorbed the power of Lucifero and taken over the body of Julius Novochrono (kind of) and claims himself as Wizard Emperor - Lucius places a demon inside Sister Lily giving her a huge boost in power and declares her the first Paladin, which will be his order of Demon-possessed Magic Knights. - Lucius seemingly kills Asta, yet he wakes up on an unknown shore.
Such a great Volume! Can't wait for more! Where is Asta? The afterlife? Strong recommend.
The final arc begins. And also Tabata starts going on continuous hiatuses, but that's not a problem for me right now as I'm still catching up...!
Another timeskip!
Julius is revealed to be something like the... uh... I forgot what the Triad members called themselves, but anyway Megicula wasn't the "real" third Devil and actually it's the Time Magic Devil Astaroth as the big one, who is linked to Julius, the Wizard King.
Asta confesses to the nun chick and gets brotherzoned ರ_ರ
Julius's evil Siamese-twin soul, Lucius, uses Soul Magic... which is kind of just Idle Transfiguration from JJK....
The last chapter in this volume had a lot of humorous MangaPlus comments about how we finally got out of Wano in One Piece only for Asta to get isekai'd there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The final battle comes to a smashing conclusion and our heroes are left to pick up the pieces and mourn the dying.
So our two main characters meet / flashback meet their mothers, everyone heals up, and there's a 1+ year time skip. And (what I hope is) the final boss manifests out of nowhere, makes his grand entrance and immediately wipes the floor with Asta. Also, no one else can even touch him because that's how his magic works...
The battle...IS FINALLY OVERR!!!! But in true Black Clover tradition, the victory is short lived before it goes into the next adventure! Some moments that I thought would be held until the end of the series are being revealed now! So, while it "appears" this may be the beginning of the final arc...one never knows! It definitely is beyond what I would deem the half-way point of the series. This volume ends in the most "I CANNOT WAIT FOR VOLUME 34 WAY EVER"!!!! Yuki Tabata is crushing this series. When this comes to an end, I hope Yuki has another series because there is highlight material in each and every volume!
And the reveal of the final big bad! That means I have to restart my rewatch and watch this character closer.
I just wish this series was more consistent in terms of quality across the board, with Attack On Titan and it's prequel, the main series was A+ quality and the prequel was consistently crap, but this constant up and down of quality with BC is a whiplash that I can't quite keep up with.
Transitioning into the last story arc of a long running manga can be real clunky. There’s typical some plot twist or some escalation that gets the last portion into gear and this was no exception. Maybe I haven’t been paying as close attention as i thought but this plot twist seems kinda rushed and derivative of a previous plot point, it was even mentioned how similar it was in the book itself. Tabata’s art is still keeping me going through this otherwise purely transitionary section of story.
A dope conclusion and some great characters moments, the slice of life part between arcs was quite enjoyable after such a grueling battle arc but it was cut pretty short to commence the final arc with a bang. Using the two-souls-in-one-body trope for both of your biggest arcs is a little much but having the wizard king as the final villain is still a wild turn and has a lot of implications for the narrative
Definitely one of the craziest volumes so far. The reveal here rivals the best reveals in Bleach or Naruto. The best part of all is that this increased my immersion in the series multi fold. I had been feeling the Spade Kingdom arc was kind of simplistic but now it makes so much sense.
Recap: -Wizard King is evil -Asta gets brozoned -Asta meet demon wizard king -Wizard king “kills” Asta -Everyone gets depressed, including Yuno -Yami smokes at least 3 packs to symbolize his depression
Oh shit. Lucifero may be gone, but after one hell of a twist, our heroes may actually be outmatched by Black Clover's final villain. I don't want to spoil anything, but I am curious how long this arc is going to be, especially after how this volume ends.
What the hell is going on?! What a plot twist. Although, I love that some people finally told other people that they love them. And the facial expressions are sooo good. You can really see their pain. It's amazing. I love it.
