It's time for even more tales of Fuuta’s life with his sister’s cat, Kyuruga! From the secret to luring cats where you want them to go, to the way they always want to lie in front of your TV screen or keyboard when you’re using them, to how excited they get when you return from a long trip, cat owners are sure to see something of their own fur balls in Fuuta and Kyuruga’s daily adventures!
Like the first volume, the second one was great. The short chapters are chapters that you can relate to as a cat owner. It's hilarious and heartwarming how Fuuta learns to know his cat Kyuruga and to see that P - Chan is sadly 'just' a substitute for when Fuuta isn't home. As short is athis manga is, you want to savor it as a reader. Only wanting to read a couple of chapters a day, but then coming to the conclusion that you've finished too fast.
Just like with the first volume, I went oh let me just read a few pages and then proceeded to reach the end before I knew it. This series is just way too cute!
My daughter found the second volume at a used bookstore. We love reading these stories of the mysterious feeling, but she continues to say she likes dogs better than cats.
Fuuta recently agreed to let his little sister move in with him. However, she isn't moving alone – coming with her is Kyuruga. This is Fuuta's first real experience spending any amount of time near a cat, and it's safe to say that it was illuminating.
Now all Fuuta wants is to come home and spend time with the cat. Observe the cat. Cuddle the cat. Study the cat. You name it, Fuuta wants to experience that part of cat ownership. (#relatable)
Review:
It's official. Cats have taken over Fuuta's life. Well, one cat. Nights with a Cat Vol. 2 is as much fun as the first. Any cat owner will appreciate and resonate with these slice-of-life style comics.
This series is perfect if you need a smile on your face or a relaxing read at night. It's also perfect for cat lovers because, duh. My only regret about this series is that there isn't more (only two volumes are listed on Goodreads), though I'm hoping that will change in time.
Overall, Nights with a Cat Vol. 2 is silly, cute, and so much fun. Kyuruga is an absolute highlight, but so is Fuuta's reaction to said cat. It's perfection (purrfection?).
Highlights: Cute kitty! Guy falling in love with cat ownership Slice-of-life
As with the first volume, I fully intended to savor this, reading a chapter or two at a time and making it last as long as possible. It was a good plan. Was. But you know what is said about best laid plans...
Yeah... it's like that. I ended up devouring this one too.
Nom nom nom.
Nights with a Cat 2 was a satisfying read. Very much so! Perhaps even more so than the first book. And yet... And yet... I am like a cat who has just completely cleaned their food bowl of every morsel. Yes, even those stubborn kernels of kibble around the edges. And yes, even those hidden ones that have fallen onto the floor and were hiding under the rim of said bowl. I am no longer hungry by any means and am, in fact, purring with satisfaction of a full (book) belly. But I still want more.
Unfortunately, this time there is no next volume for me to scoop up upon finishing the previous. And, as far as Goodreads can tell me, no third volume is even in the works. And therein is the rub. The harsh reality I am trying to come to terms with.
A bittersweet ending to this experience, but I give the book Five Stars nonetheless.
Extremely slice-of-life with a cat, a collection of mostly one- or two-page comics about cute little incidences involving the creator's actual cat. I believe the first book mentioned that it wasn't STRICTLY nonfiction, as in some small details were changed, but it's more or less nonfiction, so... tagged anyway.
Recommended for fans of the first book and/or cats in general. No particular plot means it's friendly for newcomers, too!
Continues the excellence shown in the first volume. This title, more than any other cat-related manga I’ve read, makes me nod my head and say “yep, that’s my cat”, every few pages. This author clearly understands the essence of living with a cat, and expresses it perfectly through both the narrative and the art. Paradoxically, the depiction of the cat as a big enigmatic blob conveys how cats actually act and move better than a more realistic style would. Brilliant, looking forward to the next volume.
Kyuruga is way too cute. Nothing much exciting happens in this manga. It's literally just short stories about how a cat behaves. I love it though, it makes me laugh. I'm also absolutely in love with the art style. It's simple but still detailed. Just like the first volume, the use of colour is great in this one too. Somehow it all just works together to convey this silly kitty's adventures with his owner Fuuta.
Didn't love it quite as much as the first book, but Kyuryu does such a great job of representing how actual cats are (both in the art and writing) that I spend most of the book chuckling and smiling. My favourite thing about this series is getting to see all this through the eyes of an MC who is completely unexperienced with cats, but is also curious and interested in them.
I love cats. So naturally I like/love every thing with or about cats. This is just a manga about the lives of a boy and a cat and it is so real. I mean I have 3 so yeah, Kyuruga is the definition of living with a cat. Love it.
This manga makes my heart beating with delight especially the adorable munchkin named Kyuruga and too bad that it ended here. Of course, I'll read this when I want to boost my serotonin/dopamine and a cute read hehe (=^・ω・^)y= .
More fun cat observations that sometimes go overlooked. I love the part where the character talks about how the cat will always sniff the finger if you put the finger out. They ALWAYS sniff the finger.
