He’s a cocky billionaire. She’s a spitfire with a grudge. Is this small town big enough for the both of them?
Everyone in the small town of Havenport loves Luke Kim—everyone except Nora Rossi, that is.
Nora has a fashion empire to build and an old house to repair, so she’s not interested in romance.
Especially not with the cocky billionaire neighbor she loves to hate. Because she’s been burned before.
But then fate starts a fire…
When Nora needs help, Luke jumps at the chance to spend more time with the curvy spitfire who makes his heart race.
The sparks and insults start flying, and pretty soon, they start to feel the heat.
When the smoke clears, can they forge their enemies-to-lovers passion into a happily ever after?
Author’s Note: Resisting You is a full length, standalone, enemies-to-lovers romance featuring forced proximity, explosive chemistry, and a guaranteed happily ever after. May contain adult language, graphic sexy times, lots of frenemy banter, rowdy senior citizens, home improvement disasters, and a sprinkle of kink. If this is your first visit to Havenport—welcome and get ready to swoon!
In High School, Daphne Elliot was voted “most likely to become a romance novelist.” After spending the last decade as a corporate lawyer, she has finally embraced her destiny. Her small town steamy novels are filled with flirty banter, sexy hijinks, and lots and lots of heart.
Daphne is a coffee-drinking, hot-sauce loving introvert who spends all her free time in her garden. She lives on a small farm in New England with her husband, two kids, two dogs, twelve backyard chickens and a hive of Italian honeybees.
"I had learned in therapy you don't get what you deserve. You get what you are willing to settle for." This sentence got to me. It's so true in most things, but it's very true in this book. Don't sell yourself short. Don't think others are better than you. Always try to find your happiness, even if it seems like you won't. And never settle. Because settling can mean you never get to meet, or know, the person who may be the right one for you. Like Nora and Luke.
"I like complicated. I like solving difficult puzzles. And you, my gorgeous woman, are the most complicated fucking puzzle I've ever met." Luke Kim is a really great guy. Like, a really wonderful guy. He's a billionaire, but I never really noticed that, because he's so kind, caring, and supportive. Plus, it wasn't always like that for him, and he's had a rough past. He doesn't care about fancy cars and houses, he cares about people. And that includes Nora. As much as she keeps pushing him away, and as much as he may think they can never be.
"I know you have a pathological need to be right all the time, woman. But listen to me. I want you. Only you." I really struggled with Nora. I thought she would be this powerhouse, but she wasn't. I don't mind her insecurities, since we all have them in real life, and I like it when a character feels real. But I do think she mentioned them too much, to the point where it felt like a pity party for me. And that was even more apparent because Luke was so awesome. I never fully connected to her.
"That's more like it, Luke. Don't go soft on me." "I would never go soft on you, Fireball." I enjoyed their banter and their bickering, but I missed the tension that comes from enemies to lovers. I feel like it was just about this huge attraction going on between them, and that they kept fighting, even though everyone could see it. Details below, adding them as a spoiler.
"Walking away from you last night damn near killed me." I loved a lot about this book. The small-town vibe. Their friends, especially the Coven girls, and how much they were there for Nora – family doesn't have to be blood. The body-positive message it sends, because Nora is a curvy girl who owns a store for women of all shapes and sizes. It makes me want to buy stuff from her, being a curvy girl myself. And I liked them both together – they're both driven people, who know what they want, who've had a hard past, and who find it hard to trust what they have. I suppose that was to be expected.
"I'm not a consolation prize. You helped me realize that I'm the fucking trophy." If you've read any other books by Daphne, you'll see some of characters making an appearance, and I love it when that happens. It's definitely a sweet story, about tearing down walls and opening yourself up to possibility, and loving with all your heart – and that means yourself, too.
With Resisting You Daphne Elliot launches the Rossi Family series, a spinoff of her Havenport series, which follows entrepreneur Nora Rossi and the cocky billionaire Luke Kim she loves to hate.
The entire town of Havenport can see the attraction between Luke and Nora. Heck, they even have a bet going on. But for years the two have fought and argued like cats and dogs. That is until Luke rushes to help his next door neighbor when he notices there’s a fire only to realize that Nora is living next door.
What ensues next is more bickering and bantering, a lot of getting to know each other while doing house renovations, and tons of sexy times.
But can the fiercely independent Nora who wants nothing from no one and is determined to build her company see the kind and supportive man behind the swagger? And can Luke tear down the fortress build around the woman she’s craved and admired from afar for so many years?
I’ve really enjoyed Daphne Elliot’s stories in the past but I had some trouble with this one. I know you want to know about the book, not about me. But I feel like I need to preface by saying that I’ve worked in a male dominated profession for decades where of course I’ve met my share of douche canoes. Both men AND women. I believe in equality. For the majority of that time I’ve worked with respectful and smart people who put people’s kills, drive and dependability above race, religion or gender.
That being said, I just couldn’t see eye to eye with Nora and some of her friends on their feminist stand point. They talk to, and about men in a demeaning, disrespectful way. I just can’t imagine what the reaction would had been had the tables been turned.
Add to that, that Nora had been body shamed not only by guys but from her own mother. It’s tragic, really. She was so hypersensitive, perhaps due to her insecurities, that Luke couldn’t compliment her without fearing a negative reaction from her. There are several other instances that made it difficult for me to connect with her and in consequence with them as a couple.
Yet, there were many other aspects of the story that I really enjoyed starting with Luke Kim, the hero. He was earnest and caring, thoughtful and considerate. Even though I didn’t fully agree with Nora’s friends, I liked that they were there for her, just as Luke’s friends where there for him. I also applaud the very laudable mission Nora was on “to bring empowerment and body positivity to as many women as [she] could reach.”
Resisting You is book 1 of the Rossi Family series by Daphne Elliot. A standalone contemporary romance told from both points of view, with a happy ending. Tropes: frenemies to lovers | small town | neighbors | billionaire
Yay! A return to Havenport, and finally we get some insight into Nora and Luke. Why do they hate each other so much, I've been asking myself over the course of the last several books. Yeah, they don't hate each other much at all actually, and once they finally start to recognize that, the chemistry between them is hot enough to burn your fingers as you read their story.
I loved seeing these two finally come together. Also, this book introduces us to a new Havenport series, the Rossi family, and I ADORE Nora and her brothers, so it's a great step into a new family dynamic alongside the Quinn brothers.
For a fun, sweet, and sexy enemies-to-lovers story, you can't go wrong with Resisting You.
My arrival to the small town of Havenport was delayed by 4 books, but better late than never.
There’s a fine line that separates love and hate. Sometimes, that line is so minutely thin, it gets blurry and what we thought was hate was actually the opposite. Did I lose you? Well, read this amazing book and you’ll know what I’m trying to articulate.
Nora is an ambitious-spitfire-no nonsense- kind of a woman and she is fabulous! She’s the kind of gal I could hang out with all day and never get bored. The drive in her is admirable. Then there’s Luke! I think I have a new type. This guy is hawt, and made even hotter by the interaction Daphne Elliot put him and Nora through.
Resisting You, is a great and satisfying enemies to lovers tale where we see our MCs hate each other’s guts. Then little by little, walls start crumbling down and Luke and Nora see something in each other worth fighting for and before they know it, they’re in love.
Big kudos to Daphne for choosing this cover. I love to think that he looks like me and Asians need to be represented more because we have amazing stories to tell.
I have been waiting for this book since book one, every interaction between Nora and Luke with their spark and animosity towards each other has had me dying to know what their story was.
This is a sweet, (but could we expect anything else from Havenport, god I wish I could visit there and be a part of the girls coven) enemies to lovers romance with Nora's spitfire personality and Luke's wholesome goodness you couldn't ask for more from this book. Okay maybe one more thing... another dressing down for Nora's mother, my god what a shrew!
There's a nice lot of steam in this one, Nora and Luke are fire!!!
Don't think I didn't notice the cover now says Rossi family Book 1 Daphne and I am so excited about the breadcrumbs laid for Gio. Are we getting a Christian backstory or novella?? I want to know, I love Havenport and all the characters In it. Daphne does a great job giving these characters relatable thoughts and flaws whilst leaving the town and the people with a kind of magical quality that you just want to sink into.
Resisting You takes us back to the small town of Havenport for this first book in The Rossi Family. After years of fighting and bickering, independent shop owner Nora Rossi and billionaire Lukas Kim discover that there is more to the person they hate so much. Maybe they even find out hate can turn into love very quickly?
Lukas and Nora have so much chemistry the air crackles when they are in each other's presence. They tease and banter and don't rake any shit from the other, but they also love fiercely. I knew and liked Nora and Lukas from the other Havenport books, but with this story, Daphne Elliot delves deeper into the character's emotions and makes me fall in love with them.
The author extends the world she already created and adds a couple of characters, and she teases future stories and updates on how past couples are doing. As usual, the story is well written, the characters are quirky yet relatable, it flows very well, and it is super easy to read.
If you want a light and entertaining story filled with a couple that tries to resist each other but literally is on fire together, a sassy but independent heroine, a hot billionaire hero, and a friend group that walks through fire for each other, then this, is your next 5-star read.
I was lucky enough to beta read Resisting You but I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I’ve been wanting Nora’s story since Daphne’s first book and this story was well worth the wait!
“Be a good girl and I’ll kiss it better.”
This is Daphne’s hottest book so far, the electricity between Luke & Nora could power Havenport. The banter, the back and forth dominance, the small town moments is absolutely *chefs kiss*
Nora Rossi has always hated Lucas Kim. She thinks he’s too cocky, too entitled, too rich, and she wants no part in his games. But when she finds out that he’s her new neighbor, all bets are off, especially once he saves her from a fire that happens in her new house’s kitchen.
But as Nora is forced to spend more time with Luke, she begins to realize he’s not as big of a jerk as she always thought. As for Luke, he’s always wanted more from Nora. Can Nora let go of her grudges for a chance at her own happily ever after?
Oh my gosh, this book was flipping fantastic!!! I have been waiting for Nora’s story since book one, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Luke and Nora’s story was beautifully written, and I loved all the banter, the romance, the humor, the steam. This author has definitely earned her place as one of my favorite small town romance authors!
Nora. She’s bold, sassy, and fierce - everything I’ve ever wanted to be. I loved watching her character develop over the course of the novel, and I wanted to cheer once she finally recognized her worth. Luke. Yes, he has a bit of an arrogant streak, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s a complete and total sweetheart. Their chemistry is so obvious to everyone but them, and when it finally exploded? Let’s just say it was worth the wait! I am obsessed with Havenport, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This book was amazing, I loved going back to Havenport, meeting Lucas & Nora and having so much fun with their story, plus I loved the plot of this book.
Norais the representation that women with diverse bodies want to read! A strong, brave woman who has worked to fulfill her dreams, and to love herself, but who still has a sensitive, vulnerable side that sometimes still gets carried away by her insecurities. She's a fashion lover, has her own clothing company and seeks to help more women feel better about their bodies, she is kind, sarcastic, very funny and hates Lucas Kim madly, the Havenport's most beloved billionaire, a man with a broken heart, a tragic childhood, and the sweetes man ever. Luke is the cutest, I loved discovering his story, knowing that he also has insecurities to face and reading more of his friendship with Josh was so nice.
These two have wonderful chemistry: I loved every moment of Nora & Luke arguing over the simplest things and that the attraction between them is always present in their interactions. I think the way Daphne Elliot developed thier story was perfect: everything happens between them at the right time, Nora goes from hating Luke with all her might to really knowing him, trusting him and knowing his secrets, and when that happens it's impossible for both of them to continue fighting against their feelings, I really liked that they were both supportive of the other & that Luke was always willing to support Nora's dreams.

This is the best kind of enemies to lovers - the sort of witty, warm battle of the sexes that brings to mind an updated, modern Doris Day/Rock Hudson outing. It's impossible not to root for both characters, and that's not actually easy to pull off; usually one or the other wins the lion's share of our sympathy as readers, but I can honestly say I loved both Nora and Luke in equal measure for different reasons, and that's important to me as a reader.
Bravo once again, Daphne Elliot - your place as a one click author for many is surely confirmed.
Beta Read Review I always loved the small town of Havenport and when I read Finding You, I fell in love with the witty, sarcastic, Nora Rossi. So naturally I was excited to hear that she was getting her own book and it was Enemies to Lovers!! Nora is on a mission to build her fashion empire but keeps getting shut down. She's independent and determined to do things on her own but renovating an old brownstone proves to be more than she can handle. When a fire starts in her kitchen, Luke Kim, her frenemies du jour comes to the rescue. Only, Luke has been living in the brownstone next door, to Nora's surprise. This deliciously sweet and sexy small town romance hit's the spot with the right amount of steam and girl power to make you fist pump when this curvy queen gets her happily ever after.
I'm at a place in my feminism where I truly and absolutely hate when empowered women talk about men (even their wonderful and supportive men) as helpless, infantile, doofuses who need to be trained by a strong woman.
This infantilizing of men is what the Patriarchy does to women. Becoming a strong and confident woman doesn't mean you get to flip the coin and infantilize men. It's about demanding your place as an equal, NOT about portraying men as needing to be trained or that they owe you something for putting up with their bullshit.
From this book:
“Text Liam and tell him to get his ass to the diner. What else are husbands good for? He did this to you. The least he can do is fetch your grilled cheese.”
And this is just one example. RESISTING YOU is filled with this problematic theme and language.
This was an okay book, but the way the strong women spoke to, and about, men felt like Level 1 Feminism in which all men are the enemy. When true feminism kicks in we realize that the Patriarchy is the enemy. The Patriarchy harms men too, just in different ways than it harms women.
RATING:⭐️⭐️💫 STEAM LEVEL: Rated NC-17 / 5+ sex scenes, harsh language. *MIGHT* include props/bondage. TRIGGERS: fat shaming, past domestic violence, cheating ex FEELS-O-METER: 3/5 - So many feels you might tear up a little.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
2.5 stars. This book took me way longer to read than it should’ve.
Things I Liked: -enemies to lovers trope -the chemistry between Nora and Luke (I loved seeing them in the Quinn brothers series and how they always pretended to hate each other which obviously wasn’t true) -how sweet Luke is and how much he cares for Nora (even before they were together) -Nora’s independence
Things I Didn’t Like: -how quickly Nora and Luke’s relationship went from “I guess we can give a relationship a try” to the I love you stage. Where was the in-between of actually being in a relationship and cute dates? -that Luke never apologized to Nora for standing her up on a date years ago - he knew he messed up and if he wanted a relationship with her (even a friendship) he should’ve apologized -that Nora “hated” Luke for so long without actually getting to know him and seeing how good of a person he was -lack of Nora’s family and knowledge of Nora’s family members - she has a big close family, so where were they? -how easily Luke was to think the worst of Nora (after they told each other “I love you”). She hated him for so long while he was already rich so if she were after his wealth, she would’ve been nice to him and tried to have a relationship much sooner
Things I Would’ve Liked To See: -Nora’s family -more explanation/background of Nora’s and Luke’s past -an epilogue further into the future - a proposal, wedding, kids, etc. -more time between them starting to date and saying “I love you”. They could’ve thought it, but saying it so quickly (especially since the readers didn’t see them in an actual relationship before their declarations) came out of nowhere (at least in my opinion)

I LOVE enemies to lovers and this book had such a promising start! I loved the angst at the beginning. I also really like Nora and everything she stands for! Body inclusivity curvy fmc who is loud and speaks her mind? LOVE. She was so great.
Luke is fine. If you want him to be a nerd make him NERDY. he felt like a cartoon character of an IT nerd.
The transition from Enemies to Lovers to the 3rd act breakup/drama was TOO FAST. I needed more time to get used to them as a couple before the drama. They also said I love you way too fast imo.
the drama also felt surface level and not realistic at all. like i’m sorry. but no loving boyfriend is gonna get drunk and mope when his badass girlfriend has the biggest meeting of her career. and no loving girlfriend is gonna walk away from a boy saying a few stupid things.
When i started this review i gave it three stars but after writing this is realized this is a solid 2. it just wasn’t that great.

Resisting You takes us back to the colorful town of Havenport, but this time the Rossi Family takes the center stage. Now, it’s Nora’s turn to find her happily ever after. She’s been a loyal friend to the coven while watching all her friends getting paired up throughout the series. For years, Nora and Luke have been bickering. They dislike each other, but their chemistry is explosive.
Nora is a curvy Italian spitfire, and a fashion talent. She’s a hardworking woman and is dead-set to take her clothing store to the next level. Luke is a Korean IT genius who made himself a billionaire in the Silicon Valley through hard work. Their resentment for each other is based on a misperception due to the wounds they each carry from their troubled pasts, but a forced proximity shows them that they may have been wrong about each other the entire time.
It was fun to watch these two fall in love while bickering and quarreling. The sparks would fly and the air sizzled every time they engaged in banter. Together, they were filled with passion and dominance, making their pushing and pulling moments fiery. And what’s most endearing is how awesome they are together, validating, caring, and helping each other, also towards their career goals.
I loved the characters with all their flaws and problems, giving them the role of someone you can relate to, but some of the subject matter for their backstories isn’t new, as they’ve already been used in the other books in the series, although it was a wonderful, swooning, steamy read. You can read it as a standalone, but I truly recommend reading all the books in the Havenport series, because the world building and all the characters are amazing and you’ll have a great time getting to know them!
Nora is the sassy shop owner that the whole town loves. She is smart, independent and beautiful but has some reservations. She used to be attracted to Luke but something happened in the past and she has this hate towards him that nobody knows shy. While fixing up the house that she bought she finds out that Luke is her neighbour. How will she survive living there now? She thought he lived in the big mansion outside of town, why is he here in the little house? She finds that Luke will not leave her alone and he even crashes a date she was on, but he was with another woman. Yes, he always seems to have women falling all over him. When she finds out that her family loves him, it irritates her even more. When the situation arises that she needs help, he was the first person to jump at the chance. Spending time together has her rethinking her views of Luke and just maybe they can be friends, but no more. Well, that thinking of friendship gets blurred and boy do the flames ignite.
Resisting You is a fantastic enemies to lovers, smalltown romance that will leave you feeling all the feels. Although this is a standalone romance, I would grab the Havenport series of books to meet the characters that are in this book. I highly recommend you grab this book and enjoy Nora and Luke's story.
An enemies to lovers, small town romance - this book incorporates both these tropes amazingly, and it was a pleasure to read Luke and Nora's story.
I particularly liked both Nora's and Luke's ambitions in this book. A fair amount of page time was devoted to explaining and tackling these issues, and I felt that the author did good justice to them.
[Nora is the owner of a boutique in the town of Havenport which caters to women of diverse body sizes, and her goal is to take this service international, on a mission to make women of all sizes feel good about themselves. As someone who has actually experienced such issues in clothing stores, I resonated with this so hard, and I loved the way the author developed this storyline. Luke on the other hand is a rich philanthropist (an actual one, not just for show) - his childhood experiences of domestic abuse have motivated him to open a crisis centre for women and children, a place to empower affected women with education and jobs, and a place where kids can grow up freely and with all essential resources.]
The book deals with the growth of Luke and Nora's relationship, as well as their individual emotional growths and career growths (they support each other so well!). Overall, I felt that the book was well rounded and wholesome, and I enjoyed reading it! ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶
This was my first book by Daphne Elliot, but it won’t be my last! So, I quickly learned that while this is book 1 in the Rossi Family Series, it connects to her other books and the Quinn Brothers Series. You don’t have to read those, but those characters are in this book. Needless to say that’s my next stop!
Nora is a strong, loud, loving woman, hell bent on expanding her growing business. Luke is a self made billionaire who has been burned by women in the past and is trying to lead a quiet life now. They’ve circled each other for years and has a mutual disdain for the other.
Nora and Luke both struggle with insecurity - Nora, struggling with the thought of taking up too much space (literally and figuratively); Luke, fearful of being used for his money and connections.
After Luke helps Nora out of a hot situation, the two draw closer. The sparks fly, but will they be able to let those walls down and trust each other, or do they continue to assume the worst like they have for the past 6 years?
I absolutely loved this book! It felt very empowering towards women in the fierce independence Nora has as well as the coven of friends she keeps. Seeing these flawed characters own their shit and work through it was beautiful and very well written! I can’t wait to read more by this author!
Resisting You releases on March 24th! Go check it out!
Well Damn! Daphne Elliot takes us back to Havenport for the first book in the Rossi family and oh my lord, things are sizzling in Havenport. For years town billionaire Lukas Kim and the fiercely independent clothing store owner Nora Rossi have shared a mutual dislike of each other, they fight, they bicker, they avoid, and they continually banter. But.... Is it hate? Or something more like lust/love? The chemistry between Lukas and Nora is sizzling and undeniable. However, they fight it hard and begin a 'oh the frustration' game of push and pull. Daphne Elliot has written these characters in a way you can't help but fall in love with them. The emotions they felt hit me in the feels and the way Lukas and Nora slowly opened themselves up and let down their walls warmed every inch of my heart. I absolutely loved the journey of their relationship, from enemies to frenemies to lovers. Lukas Kim where have you been hiding my whole life? This sexy billionaire is soul lethal. He's sexy, sweet, a dirty talker, supportive, a little alpha, and isn't afraid to show emotion (swwooonnnn). And... Nora Rossi I freakin adored. She's a loyal, sassy, determined, and strong (with hint of vulnerable) feminist who when I grow up I want to be just like her. Like all Elliot books not only do you fall in love with the main characters and previous characters all over again but you are introduced to new characters and discover the little teases of future storylines that leave you desperate and excited for more.
I loved this enemies - frenemies - lovers story and can't wait for more of the Rossi Family.
Finally Nora and Luke's book!!!!! These two have been skating around each other for years and they finally combust!!
Nora is my kind of woman, she is independent and knows exactly what she wants. She speaks her mind and has the best group of friends. She needs no one but herself! Lucas is the town billionaire, he has a lot of money and tries to help anyway that he can. He has struggled since his mom's death and doesn't really have a direction anymore. Nora and Luke have hated each other for years, but we all know that their is a fine line between hate and love.
It takes a fire for Luke and Nora to start spending more time together, and when they do...explosions!!! =The sexual tension is insane!!!! They start to become friends and after a night of dancing, they can't resist each other anymore!
This author is one of the best when it comes to writing sexual tension between two characters. I am shocked that my kindle did not burst into flames! I loved these two characters, they both have some insecurities but they are able to work through it themselves with some friends. They don't change for each other, they love each other as is.
Make sure you got a tall glass of Ice Water beside you! This might be Daphne Elliot's hottest book yet! But if you don't believe me... Read it!
Lucas Kim is a billion-dollar playboy, at least in Nora's eyes. In the six years she's been forced to endure his presence in the background of the Coven, he has done nothing but parade model figures around like candy. Then comes the night of CeeCee and Liam's wedding. When the drinks are flowing, inhibitions go out the window like a flaming shot of Fireball.
Can two people who seem to be at each other's throats constantly, see a different side of their arch nemesis? Lucas has been trying to make Nora see him, the real him, for years. He loves to push her buttons. The woman is a beautiful stubborn fireball and he knows she’s hiding something.
The flames of love are sometimes slow to grow, and can be found in the last place you would expect. I was blown away by these two. I would rate it 10 stars if I could. Expect to feel the steam and all emotions!
Spice rating: 3/5 Main Characters: Luke Kim, Nora Rossi Review: The book is my first in the Havenport series, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to read the rest soon, too. The book is amazing. I mean, Luke and Nora’s chemistry had me out of breath by the fourth chapter! Plus, ANGRY LOVE CONFESSION? Yes, please! As much as I adore the pair, I love them separately too. Luke is a hardworking individual who made his way in the world, and Nora is a strong independent woman. There’s no way in hell you can bring them down. But their past, their personalities, and their insecurities are what make them the most relatable. The reconciliation part had me dropping a star because it turned to seduction real quick. I’m not complaining about the extra smut, but it would’ve been great to see them sit and communicate a little more before they rechristened the bed. But the way the book progresses, it’s beautiful. When they had the big fight, it reminded me of another book, and maybe, I thought it would’ve been better if they stayed apart. What Luke did wasn’t verbal abuse, but very close to the territory. Maybe, just maybe, they could’ve had THE conversation and that would make this one of my best reads. But it is what it is. Overall, the book is a nice read, and as I said, I see myself reading more books in the Havenport series super soon!
“Walking away from you last night damn near killed me. I want you, Nora. I want you so badly I can’t think about anything else.”
This book felt like watching a god-tier romance movie. The tension between Nora and Luke had me screaming, giggling, laughing out loud!!! Their banter, the constant bickering!!! I finished it in a day!!! 🥲
Luke was such a cutie and such a gentleman. His love but especially his respect for Nora what made me adore him. I’m not even mentioning the fact that he is a handsome billionaire!! Oh, and I think it’s safe to say his dirty mouth caught me off guard😮💨
Nora was such a badass!! A girlboss, literally!! She knows what she wants, she doesn’t put up with no ones bullshits. I adored her, too.
“Resisting You” was my first book by Daphne Elliot. And I know for sure it’s not going to be my last. I loved every sentence, every chapter, every scene!!!
Looking forward to read more of her work in the future!
Luke Kim and Nora Rossi. A billionaire in a small town in New England meets an alpha wolf as he calls her 😍 there are some many things to love about this book. It hit me at a personal level on so many things, I struggled keeping my tears at bay. Luke’s story is absolutely amazing! How being hardworking pays off but it’s not everything at the end of the day. You always have to make time for love. And Nora, behind that strong façade is a woman that has been judged and hurt not only by men and “friends” but also by her own family. She decides to show them who’s boss and becomes one heck of a bada$$ b*tch boss! Goals! These two have an enemies to lovers story that packs some heat! The way he gives himself to her, there’s power in knowing the other person is your equal, your teammate. And how Nora decides to take a step back and does some needed self growth in order to be the best version of herself. All this is possible thanks to her cover. This group of women is goals! I absolutely loved them and cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
ARC review, I happily give my honest opinion - Resisting You by @daphneelliotauthor - At first glance Nora looks like a kick ass, take no nonsense kind of woman, but underneath she is insecure having been made to feel less than so many times by so many people. Luke comes across to her as arrogant, self import and a ladies man, but he really just wants people in his life who want him , not his money. They are both strong willed, ambitious, loyal, kind and also a little lonely and realise when they look past each others bravado that they can both add so much to each others lives. There are misunderstandings along the way and they both let their insecurities get in their way but in the end they get the HEA they both deserve.
This is my first book from the author, so I have no idea about the background of the couple. That probably impacted my feelings that something was missing. I guess that’s my fault cuz I like reading books in order when they are part of the same world. So I definitely recommend doing that.
However, overall, I really liked the book. I loved Nora and Luke’s love-hate relationship and how they riled each other up. I liked the banter and how it was deep at times. It is a good and enjoyable read and I was captivated by the story. I will definitely read more from the author
