A thrilling and hilarious game of jungle hide-and-seek...Ready or not, here it comes!
Deep in the heart of the jungle, something is on the hunt…
All of the animals have to run, hide, make no noise, and leave no trace. Fleeing in a frenzy, each animal dashes off to find a wacky way to hide from the mysterious hunter on their trail. Will they find a hiding place in time? More importantly, who or what are they running from?
Featuring vibrant, eye-catching illustrations, Run! is both a suspenseful and an amusing jungle jaunt. The easy-to-follow format invites plenty of interaction from young readers, who will be delighted to identify animals and point out hidden details in each scene. As funny as it is thrilling, this tale will have readers of all ages waiting with bated breath to discover the surprising, laugh-out-loud twist at the end.
There is so much to like about this book. There is the opportunity to guess the animals with a surprise ending. But, this will not work with a large group. The ending illustrations works best with a one on one reading or a small group. Too bad, it would have been a big hit with the storytime crowd if it were bigger.
This one has all the fun, quivery anticipation of The Monster at the End of this Book as the reader (and fidgety listener) eagerly await the arrival of the mysterious pursuer. Combine this with the brilliantly colored, punchy artwork . . . and you've got a book guaranteed to produce squeals of "Read it again!"
Thanks to NetGalley and Owlkids Books for sharing this one.
I received an eARC from Netgalley and Owlkids Books in exchange for an honest review. - This ARC's formatting differs from the published work and may have impacted my reading enjoyment.
This was a cute story, but I do feel that this is for REALLY really young children. It is just vibes. That's not a bad thing. I will reread once published so that I can get the full impact of the art (due to ARC formatting I had no idea what was going on with the art) There was a twist ending though... which was pretty cool.
So much fun to read! Something is coming! You'd better run! Don't make a noise! Various jungle animals run and hide in fear as something is about to come after them..and then it turns out to be a mouse playing hide and go seek. The final double spread shows a jungle with parts of animals peeking out, inviting young readers to see if they can find all the animals from the previous pages. This would work well as a storytime book if you leave out the final double-spread page, and a good one-on-one book with it.
LOL, I would have been the kind of kid who wouldn't have been able to read this book! Definitely suspenseful, and although it has a sweet ending, I wouldn't have been able to finish AND would have had nightmares about whatever was coming to get me... Lord, I was a scaredy child at times!
Still would recommend this to kiddos and for a storytime!
This was a cute, very simple story. The pacing is great for building suspense and the end is a great payoff. The illustrations are great too and perfect for engaging little ones. Thank you Netgalley and Owlkids Books for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Animals run and hide from an animal out hunting. Will they be safe? This book builds suspense with the minimal text and animals' eyes. This is a great book for storytime that will definitely get the whole group to quiet down and be very still, just like the animals.
This uses very little word count to build a lot of tension before you finish with amusement and smiles. What could the biggest, fiercest jungle animals be running from? Read on for the big surprise :)
All the animals are running and hiding. Why?? Ah, the countdown is coming to a close, but what does it mean?? Kids will enjoy the buildup of suspense and then the interactive ending. A nice story time read.
