Describes the encampment of the Revolutionary Army at Valley Forge and recounts how the soldiers survived a winter of hardship to continue the war against the British
My boys and I really enjoyed this. I like that quotes are shared for this age group reading it. It was detailed and engaging. I don't know why people complain about the pictures; it is a book of historical information it isn't meant to be a picture book.
The best writing of the Cornorstones I've read thus far, but still pretty basic and bland. Good info, no frills. I liked the use of quotes in this book.
The Story of Valley Forge is another book that does not have much detail to the pictures. All of them are done in black and red with the black chalk. I like the front cover of the book of the guy resting against the tree because it makes you wonder what he is thinking and if fighting is going on around him and he is just blocking it all out or what is going on. This would be a great book to teach to your history class. I think students could get a lot out of reading this book.
Kind a boring...It did teach us some things though about Valley Forge and helped us put more things together in regards to the Revolutionary War timeline. I'm literally reading every Am Hx our library has....
