Once a year, weather weavers from all over the globe come together, to trade weather magic and stories. Stella and Nimbus can't wait to experience the Gathering, but they're in for a frosty welcome. Tamar has always been a rule-breaker, but when she defies the Ice Weavers' new laws by training Stella to become a fully-fledged weather weaver, it's Stella who stands to lose everything. Can Stella and Nimbus thaw the hearts of the council elders, or will winter tear them apart?
Tamsin had a nomadic childhood (eight different schools!), but the one place that always felt like home was Shetland, her mother’s homeland. Shetland is a collection of teeny tiny islands, so far north they struggle to fit on the map. They are overflowing with myths and legends, most of which are true. Growing up, Tamsin was usually to be found on the beach, whispering spells into sea shells and singing to the selkies.
Tamsin now lives in Bath with her husband, two children, one rabbit, several crows, and a badger, though she flies home to Shetland whenever she can – if you go there in the summer, you’ll probably spot her, striding about with the wind in her hair, chasing a wild story.
I picked this up as the blurb sounded interesting and it was a new book published this year. It's taken me a while to read as I only read on the bus to and from work. It took a chapter or so to get into the story but it got better. A different turn on a fantasy book, it's not witches, wizards or unicorns A lovely story for children to read.
I absolutely loved The Weather Weaver so I preordered this, desperate to read it. It did not disappoint! I loved learning more about the weather weaving world and visiting the gathering, as well as encountering new characters and places. This book was so exciting and I am obsessed with Stella and Nimbus. I can’t wait to read more of their adventures!
A Gathering Storm by Tamsin Mori is another adventure book full of danger and magic. I was thrilled when I heard there would be a sequel to The Weather Weaver. Just like its predecessor, the story is full of charm and perseverance. I loved being back in the Weather Weaver World and hope there will be more books in this series to enjoy. This brilliant second book in the series builds on the original story. A magical whirlwind is full of friendship, adventure and magic. A must-read if you enjoyed the first book.
