My research ship crashed, stranding me on an alien planet with no hope of rescue. When I'm captured and given to Grael, a brooding, scythe-wielding Destran male with chameleon-like skin and the darkest eyes I've ever seen, I don't know whether to cower before him or kiss him. I've spent my life puzzling out the human psyche, but can I get through Grael's formidable walls?
I am Grael, lord of my living, symbiont ship and protector of the Destran population living in it. I have enough problems trying to free my ship from the rocky crevice its trapped in. I am not pleased when I'm presented with the "gift" of a frightened human female. I have no use for the small, alien female, but I can't send her into the dangerous wilds where she'll be killed. What am I to do with the beautiful woman with the sparkling eyes and a smile that lights up my dark world?
As enemies close in with plans to take over Grael's ship and extract the powerful drug it produces, Grael and Lexi must find a way to hold them off and free the ship, but little do they know the devastating monster coiling beneath the seething mountain itself, threatening to devour everything in its path.
This is book two of the Lords of Destra series. Each is a complete story with no cliffhangers or cheating. My books always have consent and a happy ending. Cheers!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙🤎💜 Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌍🌏🌎 Character development: 😠☺️😋🥰 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Lexi - she is a psychologist and was on a research vessel in space going to look at a planet to see if it would support human life, when the ship starts to break up. All the human females aboard escaped in pods and crash landed in different places on the nearest planet.
The Hero:Grael - he is a Lord of Destra, one of the few lords who is bound to a living symbiont spaceship. He is responsible for the ship and the people on it. The ship creates a by product that is very valuable and there are others that want it, but it is needed by Grael’s people as both a food source and for its healing capabilities.
The Story: the planet they were on was not a good one to support Grael’s Sola (ship) or human life. There is also a volcano nearby that coughs out lava and ash every now and again. The Bracken are also nearby and want the lahmi that the ship makes, they pursued the destrans to this planet and remain on the planet and are closing in on Grael’s ship.
The story was as good as the first book. The Sola was stuck between two mountains so couldn’t move anywhere and Lexi had a communication device which she used to try to find out if any of the other human women survived. The two of them were captured by the Bracken at one point, and things got pretty exciting from there. I love the fact that though the destran people are warriors, they actually wear clothes instead of loincloths like many alien romance stories.
This book was told in multiple points of view by a dual narration. It and was narrated by Elle Sonali and Tor Thom. I love Tor Thom for alien romance, he has a deep voice which sound otherworldly in a way and it is perfect for this genre. Elle Sonali has a nice sounding voice and I liked her narration as well. This was the second book in this series and I have read both so far, I plan to read more.
This author hit the target dead center. The first book took some time getting acquainted with the setting, but once it was established, the rest was history. Unlike other alien love stories, this doesn’t take place on Earth, the Earthlings weren’t kidnapped for some financial interest, nor was there some human bride scheme. Nope. This was a simple fiction taking place in the distant future where space travel is common.
A group of human females traveled through the galaxy on a space mission to map out another planet. During transit, their spacecraft hits something, and the passengers are forced to flee in the escape pods. The pods land on the nearest planet, where there’s a group of aliens who also got stranded on the same planet from a crash. And here’s where the plot got confusing, at first.
So these Aliens come from a planet where they all live in a spacecraft, big enough to house thousands of Destrans. Here’s the kicker though: these “spacecrafts” are actually ALIVE and are sentient beings. When their planet became overpopulated, the Sola (name for the sentient ship) had 7 babies. Those baby ships (aka Solas) chose Destran Warriors (deemed captains of sorts) to “connect to” and gave them the title of “Lord.” These Lords had the memories of their past lives erased, to where all that remained was the relationship between Lord and Sola. Hundreds of Destrans chose to leave their overpopulated planet with these 7 Solas and their Lords to find a new planet to settle on and grow. These Solas provide for its inhabitants, including food and healthcare, but it must set down roots to grow first. The substance the Solas produces is heavily sought after, so of course, the Destrans have enemies. Those said enemies attacked the traveling Solas and they crashed landed on the same planet as the 7 human women.
Are you still following me so far? Because that’s a big narrative to wrap one’s head around.
7 Lords. 7 human women. All stranded on a planet together. One by one, the Lords save the human women before saving their Solas and hunt for their brother Lords and sister Solas. Only when they are together again can they leave the dangerous planet.
My biggest pet peeve when an author refers to “coitus” is when they substitute it with the generic “sex.” For example: “He lifted me up to where his head pressed against my sex, then plunged into me with one swift thrust.” There are SO MANY WORDS a writer can use aside from “sex,” so I view the usage as incredibly lazy. Aside from that aggravation, these books are very well written. Full of adventure and love, this has quickly become one of my favorite series. I can’t wait for the next book to be released. Heavily recommended if you are into alien love stories.

Bound to the Alien Lord is book 2 in the Lords of Destra series. This book is about 36 year old psychologist and human, Lexi, and Lord Grael. It is said that the year is 2504 which is way off of the prequel book 0.5 which mentions it being year 2324 when the 7 women crashed onto the planet. It annoys me to not have continuity but it didn’t affect the overall story at all. This book was underwhelming and abrupt. There was no lead up, no development of feelings, and no indication that Lexi might also feel the mating bond that Grael did. I am totally understanding and accepting of insta love when reading books where there is a fated mate situation, because that is how it works for them, but the first kiss in this book was so random and sudden. Lexi basically just plants one on him mid conversation. It felt so out of place. Maybe if it had happened during Lexi’s POV, it would have made more sense, but seeing it from Grael’s POV was just odd. Both narrators did a good job in this book. I enjoyed listening to them. This book ends with 40 minutes remaining and goes into a preview of book 3. I am still interested in continuing this series. It is fun. 3 stars for book 2.
The Aliens in this series are very interesting. They live in a symbiotic relationship with their sentient ship.s called Solas. The Destran Lords are the communicators with/for their ships. Lexi is a psychologist of sorts (meaning she wears many hats) that is a member of the expedition to a new planet that has crashed on another planet, rather than their intended destination. While we met the Brakken as villains in the last book, we now meet the Zull. The Zull are natives to the planet, but are opportunists as they take advantage of a Sola's body lodged in between the mountains. They hope to win favor with this Destran Lord by giving Lexi to him as a slave, but Destrans do NOT take slaves. This Lord is Grael, a lord with black eyes and a scythe; he is very quiet and his status makes him feel as though he is isolated from his fellow Destrans.
This story includes a patient, self-deprecating hero, a supportive advisor, a heroine that is willing to take a chance on love, and a giant lava monster! I enjoyed and highly recommend!
This is the second book in the series, but there is a novella that sets up the series on the author’s website. Although the stories are standalone, it makes more sense if you read in order. Lexi is one of six human women who were stranded on an unknown planet when their research ship crashed. Having survived the crash, she is gifted to an alien being called Grael, who is a Lord of the Destra, and a symbiont to a sentient ship. Grael’s ship is caught between some rocks, he has to free it to save both it and his people, and the dangers that they face are not only life threatening, they are coming from more than one source…
Like the first book, and the setup novella, this is an action packed and entertaining book. You’ll find plenty of action, adventure, and romance; and maybe a little enlightenment about the Solas and the Destran people.
An enjoyable sci-fi romance for fans of alien heroes and stranded/survivor tales.
As an avid reader, I don’t just indulge in regular published works but also fan fiction of many different movies and books and shows. One type in particular I love exploring are the stories about Snape from Harry Potter, especially original character romances. This book really reminded me of a twisted version of those stories because Grael reads as Snape does to me. Black eyes and hair, cold demeanor, anti social, deep voice, it all lends to the image I have in my head when I read about Snape. This probably wasn’t intended, but it’s just something I picked up on and actually made this book far more enjoyable than the first. Not that Savair wasn’t a good lead, but he was more mid range for my taste while Grael checks all my boxes.
Lexi is also a wonderful leading lady. Smart and kind, truly empathetic, and open to new information and change. I can read through her very easily and immerse myself in the story without being bored from her character. She offers insight into things that make her more interesting to me so she isn’t just a female filler of a character.
Their relationship is enjoyable as it feels like they compliment each other and better each other. Lexi is there to teach Grael how to communicate and open up to others, while Grael awakens desire and strength inside of her. They both don’t think they deserve the other but can’t help the feelings they have. Honesty is also extremely important to them, which I appreciate.
The action is decent but not extremely exciting. There wasn’t any more world building than the first book offered, so that’s a little bit of a downer for me, but not enough to vote it down.
I look forward to what’s going to come next in the series.
This is book two and it’s just as good as the first book. This is the second human female to land in an escape pod. She is smart and resourceful but not really cut out for wilderness adventure. She is taken by some creatures and offered to Lord Grael as a slave. He refuses but realizes that this female alien would not survive on the planet without help. Lord Grael asks his advisor to find space for her. Their adventure begins there . . . . Read On!
This series is amazing! The characters are so well written! The world building is outstanding! The story is rich and new. I absolutely love Grael! My heart just broke for him. I just wanted to hold him and tell him he is beautiful and precious. Lexi is an awesome heroine! She is smart and she is strong. Can't wait for the next one! I have enjoyed every Ella Blake book I've read. She has become 11-click for me.
... otherwise a solid series. I started reading this as it was suggested after reading a Christmas sci-fi romance by the same author. I was intrigued by the premise and find it refreshingly different from others I've read. My only problem is that the year isn't consistent from the first book to the short story to this one. It's off by a couple hundred years from one to another. Otherwise it's a great read.
This was a good read. Grael was so intense. I had forgot that when they become Lord with their Sola that their past is erased. Grael only confined in his advisor which was actually his best friend. Then he met Lexi and she saw something in him that he couldn’t even see himself. This was action packed and full of mysteries revealed. Good/great read.
wish there were some scenes deleted and more of others
Some parts, like scaling the mountain were illogical and would never happen. Others like being in the old place should have been expanded. Could have found something they could have used to help them in future. And the ending needed a reunion like the last book.
Lexi and Grael meet when Lexi is stranded on a hot day planet and she is captured by the Zull. The Zull try to "gift" her to the Lord of the sentient ship and Lord Grael is not going along with the sale. He gives Lexi a couple of options and she chooses his ship.
In this book we again see the symbiotic relationship of the Sola and her Lord. It's interesting to learn more about the Sola and how they are different. In the previous book, Grael is mentioned as being very dark and it's amazing we got to see him opening up to love by a very positive character.
love discovered and unbiund, love the Destra lords
Waited a long time but it was well worth it. These aren’t just steamy novels but interesting glimpses into strengths and weaknesses of us all. Just LOVE the Destra lords and positive strong resilient earth women! Hope there are at least a number of adventures to follow!!!
This story is about a Lord who feels alone and different but also has difficulty communicating with his people and his Sola. Leave it to a Psychologist to state the obvious and bring this man/alien to a better place within himself and for his people and Sola. Good read
I've truly fallen in Love with this series 😃. Each Sola is different, as each Lord, but the human women who get rescued from the bad aliens find their Lord just what they need 😄. Thanks again Ella, I absolutely Love these stories and can't wait to read more 🤓.
Who doesn’t love a sentient entity being a ‘ship’ carrying a race of people, and who doesn’t love a single human female, who falls in love with the dark and menacing Lord? These books are totally addictive, filled with humour, bad guys, lots of dismemberment and not forgetting sexy sexy moments. What am I waiting for? Off to book 3 lol.
I actually started this series with book one a while back, but found it uninspiring, but maybe I was in a reading slump when I read it. I actually read the novella that started this series over the weekend and throughly enjoyed it, so decided to try book two. I’m glad I did, as I did enjoy this story, and it’s characters greatly.
This was better than the first book as I fell in love with Grael. A grumpy dark eyed, dark haired, dark clothed guy who carries a scythe like the grim reaper? Sign me the fuck up.
I also liked that the FMC was near my age.
I only docked it a star because I felt it could have been a bit longer and the relationship between the two developed a bit more.
I am hoping the ruins they found will have a part to play or some clue to something in future books.
I read the first book a while back, but the h annoyed me so I stopped. I am between books right now so decided to give the series another try. The first book didn't irritate me as much this time, and this one was pretty good. I wouldn't say they're my favorite, but they are entertaining.
I have been looking forward to the next instalment since I read the first book and the novella and I wasn’t disappointed can’t wait for the third book really looking forward to it
I really enjoyed this book. The Destran Lords are cool. Their ship is even better! Lots of excitement and adventure. Great relationships. Can't wait for the next one.
Bound to the Alien Lord is an exciting, sensual sci-fi romance. Love that Grael a grumpy silent hero who only becomes talkative after Lexi kisses him and triggers his mate bond. Their romance is fun, hot, exciting and a quick read. Enjoyed it!
