The most dangerous predator on the mountain may not be the legendary Sasquatch.
Ethan “Chaos” Watson never expected to use his skills as a former Navy SEAL and current search and rescue expert to track down Bigfoot. But when a paranormal investigator goes missing while filming in the mountains near Fallport, Virginia, Ethan and his team are called in to find the man. A task made harder when they’re trailed by a camera crew.
Camerawoman Lilly Ray was already reaching the end of her rope on the hokey, ridiculous paranormal shoot. Now the producer has ordered her to stick to the SAR team to get their every move on video. Admittedly not a hardship; she noticed Ethan her first day in town, and the more time they spend together, the more attracted she becomes. When the search stretches on for days, then weeks, it seems clear her co-worker didn’t just wander off trail, getting lost in the woods. Foul play is evident, and soon, everyone on the cast and crew is suspect.
As the team steps up their search, someone is equally determined to use the disappearance to their advantage. Then Lilly herself goes missing, and Ethan and his team will turn over every rock and leaf in the Appalachians to locate her…before it’s too late.
He wasn’t looking for love, but it found him anyway—and he’s not letting anyone take away the woman who’s become his whole world.
** Searching for Lilly is the first book in the Eagle Point Search & Rescue Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
Ah, the adorability of a small-town military romance with the hint of paranormal activity. Very insta-love, and forgettable, yet perfect for a break in the day.
First of all I picked this up for Bigfoot and was disappointed
Secondly I wasn’t particularly attached to either character, or really any character? The whole thing felt very slow and yet not really spicy? Anyways I do think the writing was fine and maybe it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
I can’t believe how boring this book is. I’m at 72% and nothing is happening.
I really don’t want to give up on this book. As it’s Susan Stoker and I love her books, but it’s so boring! I was a quarter of the way through the book before they even kissed! A couple of conversations here and there and that’s it.
Lilly is a camerawoman for a show about paranormal activity. They are filming everything from ghosts to Bigfoot and aliens. It’s all fake though and Lilly is getting more and more despondent. When they go to a small town to do an episode about Bigfoot, she meets Ethan and his search and rescue team mates. Ethan is a former seal who likes Lilly instantly. Yet he doesn’t show it as she’s leaving town when they are finished. Instead he shows her round the town and introduces her to everyone, bit bizarre. They start hanging out all the time, but there’s no sex! I get that some people have criticised Susan for too much sex in her books but this is ridiculous. (And I don’t think that her books have too much sex. It’s a natural part of a relationship.)
So when one of the stars of the show Trent, goes missing, after camping out on his own, I thought it was finally getting interesting. Hmm not! They search all over with her filming it and now I’m up to 72% and it’s still boring. There’s a lot of fast forwarding through the book as well. So i didn’t really connect with either of them, or his team mates, or any of the town. After Trent goes missing, it fasts forward a week, so we don’t get to know any of their conversations and I’d like to know more about them both. It goes on about her growing up without her mom, and her brothers, but nothing about Ethan and his twin brother. I’d have liked to get to know his team and their characters as well, as they will all have their own books in the series and I have no clue about any of them.
So with a lot of regret, I give up. I tried and tried to get into this but failed. Disappointed. 😢
I liked this one but man...it moved very slow. Not sure if it was due to being the 1st in a series so there was a lot to set up, or the idea of the reality show itself, which was so bad. All the drama surrounding the show really turned me off, I hated that part of things.
I also thought it was odd how prudish/chaste Ethan was for so long with Lilly. At first it sort of made sense, he wasn't sure if she was going to stay, but then it seemed weird. I was glad that Lily brought the subject up and talked to Ethan, his fear was a good one and one that Lilly understood and found ways to work around.
I really liked the town and the people. I found it interesting that most were a bit standoffish to Lilly until she helped one of their own, then after they all learned about that they seemed to welcome her with open arms.
I liked how this one ended for Ethan and Lilly, liked that she was going to make the town her new home. I also really liked Zeke's move at the end and look forward to reading about what happens next there.
This was a fun and creative new twist on romantic suspense. Mind, it is not deep, not terribly involved, it just suspense… light - romance, heavy. But that is just what the doctor orders sometimes. One doesn’t have to think too hard in this story and the villain is even shown to the reader about half way through the book, so the suspense isn’t even in the “who” but the “how”. Still, it takes a super fun look at reality TV and the life of a camera person while setting up a brand new series that revolves around the search and rescue men, and the women they fall in love with!
Solid new start to a series. I do enjoy stories that take place in small towns that are near/surrounded by forests or mountains, and so it was perfect as far as settings. Overall, I enjoyed it but didn't feel super connected with Lilly and Ethan. All the men in Ms. Stoker's stories are solid, protective and sweet to the h, so there's no disappointment there. Ethan and Lilly connected pretty quickly but their relationship developed over implied time, so that helped it from being an insta-love type of connection.
Lilly was a solid and strong FMC, but I think aside from her conflict of her career, she was a bit too perfect. I know, it's a weird gripe to have and it shouldn't be a bad thing as she wasn't pretentious or anything, but it just seemed too much. It would have been great if she had some flaw or there was something to balance how capable she was with everything. I'm actually more intrigued by Elise, so I'm glad her and Zeke's story is next.
This was an amazing start to the new series! I seriously do not know where the authour continues to come up with these stories and I loved this one. Lilly and Ethan have a slow burn after an instant attraction. She is at a crossroad in life, he is mostly happy and not sure if he wants to make any changes. As they get to know each other, the mystery that needs to be solved appears and has them right in the middle of it. There is strength and vulnerability in both characters and they are just really likable people. Their commitment to each other radiates from the pages and they work so well together. Loved it, loved them, can’t wait for the rest of the crew to find their HEA’s!
Ethan is my new favorite hero! And, Searching for Lilly is my new favorite book! What an exciting start to a new series. Book 2, Searching for Elise, is already preordered and I’m practically salivating to get my hands (ok, eyes) on it.
Susan Stoker does it again!!! This book(series) has everything … awesome town, awesome characters, awesome everything!!! I loved this book and I can’t wait for book 2!
She Never Disappoints Susan Stoker's reads are always a good choice for me. I know they follow a certain formula and I still don't care. I'm not alone, considering how prolific her works (and her fans) are.
I love the premise of this new series featuring (you guessed it) over-protective alpha males. These guys are all ex-military or former first responders who moved to this small town for a quieter life. Most of them likely did this to quiet the ghosts of their pasts, as is the case with their leader, Ethan, AKA- "Chaos." The seven men are now Search and Rescue responders in a highly remote wilderness area. What they aren't, is Bigfoot hunters.
While I loved the romantic aspect of Ethan and Lilly, the quirky small town residents and the ridiculousness of dealing with a TV production on a search for Bigfoot really sealed the deal for me. This story embraces my laugh-out-loud funny side, then feeds my toe-curling passion self just a few pages later. Total win/win in my book.
I can't wait to hear the backstories on the rest of the Eagle Point team.
Lilly is T.V. show where they are trying to convince the world that big foot exsists, Lilly is part of the camera crew. She doesn't believe a lot of what her producers are doing but its a job.
Ethan “Chaos” Watson is the leader of Fallport, Virginia’s Search and Rescue team. He also happens to be a former Navy SEAL. So when this crew comes into his town he knows it can't be good. They don't seem to know anything about the area or how to keep themselves from getting lost or hurt. But he does notice Lilly because she doesn't seem to fit with the rest of them.
I loved the small town feel of this one, the twist of the old men who gossip. The fact that Lilly isn't helpless at all, the attraction between her and Ethan. I just devoured this book. I had to run out and buy book 2!
I loved the narration as well, Grace Grant, Ryan West, Tim Paige all do a fantastic JOB!
Plot: Lilly is a camera operator in town with a paranormal reality show. The show is filming a Bigfoot episode and the producer is not quite honest because he wants a successful show. Lilly is simply pulled along in the scheme as a crew member. But while in the small town, she meets Ethan, the leader of the local search and rescue team, and despite the fact that she will be leaving soon with the show, they begin a relationship. But they may be torn apart by circumstances and outside dangers.
Commentary: I liked the way that Ethan and Lilly's relationship moved slowly (for the time frame anyways - they didn't hop into bed right away - they actually got to know each other and spent time with each other). It helped build a sense of connection before the suspense part of the story got there. I also liked that the author toned down the "super plain" or even "ugly heroine" thing she usually has going on. We did get the sense that Lilly thought of herself as average but Ethan and his friends didn't see that, and in this book, blending into the background was part of her job, as opposed to the normal heroine from this author that is plain and invisible to everyone around her. It was nice to not be beaten over the head by the unattractiveness of the heroine.
I loved the beautiful at times nail biting story of Ethan and Lilly. Expect to feel all the things - expect to laugh, to swoon, to hold your breath, grind your teeth, and to cry. Lilly is a camera woman workings on a paranormal series. They are filming an episode about Bigfoot in the small town of Fallsport. Ethan is a former SEAL and the head of Eagles Point Search and Rescue based in Fallsport. Ethan and Lilly meet when the show comes to town and there is immediate chemistry. But she’s only supposed to spend a week there so a relationship does not seem to be in the cards. Until one of the cast goes missing and Lilly spends even more time with Ethan and the SAR team. As they try to find the missing cast member while figuring out their fledging relationship on their way to their HEA, from friends to lovers to a forever family, Ethan and Lilly need to deal with painful pasts and learn how to find a new path together. It is beautiful to watch the relationship between Ethan and Lilly as it grows and deepens organically. This book has a little bit of everything, just like you would expect from a Susan Stoker romantic suspense story - sweet moments, strong friendships, fan your face sexy times, real life issues, painful pasts, imperfect characters, dangerous high stress situations, and so much love. I am excited to read the rest of the SAR team’s stories.
Finally a search and rescue book! I was so excited for this one, the excerpts I read were really promising, but sadly it didn't really do it for me. I enjoyed the general idea of the book, I liked following a shooting crew for a paranormal show, it was new and out of the ordinary compared to what we are used to read. I also liked that Lilly was really independant, she knew how to change a tire, basic plumbing too, she grew up with her father and 4 brothers, who taught her how to fend for herself. Finally I liked the small town vibes, where everyone knows everyone.
What I didn't like was the pace in this book. I like my Stoker books starting up with action, while in this book we have to wait until almost the end to see some. Most of the book is about Lilly and Ethan getting to know each other and Lilly interacting with the people in town. I also expected more S&R scenes.
My hope is that this first book was to settle us into this new team and town, and now that we know everyone we can get more action in the next settlements. The next book will be about Zeke and Elsie, and it sounds really good! So fingers crossed!
Boy was I anxious for this new series and I not disappointed at all! This is an fantastic beginning! This is story is filled with not only amazing (cough HOT) guys but we also get introduced to a whole town full of characters. While I enjoy Ethan and his team Lilly stole the show! I was really impressed her more than once! She is real, smart, has a host of special skills and her wonderful Dad. I loved how she handled everything thrown at her with grace. Who else could win the hearts of a small town?
Overall this story had me hanging on tight! I was drawn by the characters, held by the suspense and floored by ending!
I did listen to this on audio. Grace Grant, Ryan West and Tim Paige all did a wonderful job. I look forward to more in this series!
Susan Stoker certainly started the Eagle Point Search & Rescue Series off in an awesome manner with Searching for Lilly!! Ethan & the rest of the guys on the team are awesome. Lilly can tell there is something different about them and especially about Ethan right off the bat, even as they listen to her boss interview the townspeople about Bigfoot for a “reality show” they are doing, that she is a cameraperson for, in the mountains around town. Ethan is intrigued by her first at that meeting, then by her not staying at the motel but at the local B&B. If I say more I will end up giving away spoilers, but it’s really a great book that is a must read!! Can’t wait for the next book to come out!!
Lilly & Ethan get two big thumbs up! Excellent banter & suspense, a fun new town to fall in love with, & a team of guys to fall for, too!
I love Lilly's heart & strength. She grew up with several older brothers, & they made sure she ķnew how to take care of herself. I love how she shares that knowledge with a certain young man, cementing a friendship with both him & his mom.
And of course, Ethan! His nickname may be Chaos, but he's really more calm than that. Lol idk, he's just an all-around great gut, & I love him for Lilly!
And the tease for book 2... well, I'm definitely looking forward to THAT!!
I’m soooo excited about this new series by Susan!! I am A huge fan of all her series and this one is no exception! This was definitely a great start to a new series! Lilly is a camera operator for a sci-fi TV show. The characters are investigating paranormal activity. She loves what she does but not necessarily the people she does it with. They are currently working in a small town similar to the one she grew up in. This week’s episode is on big foot…insert eye roll. Ethan is former military and now works with a group of his close friends, one being his twin brother. They work as a search and rescue team. They are not happy with the tv crew being in town because they are not being safe. Well at least most of them are not being safe. Lilly and Ethan hit it off right away, they have an amazing connection and get chemistry. They work great together and really open up to each other. I really Enjoyed this first book. It was quick paced and well layered with a great story. I loved the small town gossip and laughed out loud when Tex’s name was mentioned! I’m really excited about the other characters and the potential their stories have. I’m already looking forward to Zeke’s story!
This story is the first book of this new series. Lily is a camera operator for a reality show. Ethan is a retired Military guy who fixes houses with his brother while also leading a Search and Rescue team. There is mayhem, murder and machinations running through this town, all because of this reality show. You’ll never see this ending coming! You will not be able to put this story down!! The narrators are wonderful and keep you gripped in this story. This is a 1000%, A+ story for this new series!!
I’m excited that each guy here has a different special forces/military background and they’re all retired from that kind of work. It’s different from the other series we’ve seen from Stoker where the guys are all on the same team and currently serving or are out of official work and doing off-the-books stuff
I was a fan of Lilly and Ethan and I’m excited to get to know the other guys more later in the series!
I love Fallport and the quirky residents, but obviously we love the guys of Eagle Point S & R most! Ethan both steals your heart and sweeps you off your feet, he is brutally honest but you have to respect him for it, I love that he is man enough to admit he has no idea why he is so drawn to Lilly or what it is he feels, but he is determined to pursue it anyway. A fantastic first book in the series which has you wishing a trip to Fallport is in your future.
Searching for Lilly (Eagle Point Search & Rescue Book 1) is a deliciously fun, steamy, page-turning adventure. Susan Stoker knocks another one out of the park with this first standalone tale in her new Eagle Point SAR series. Lilly and Ethan are such likable, well-developed characters from their meet cute to their HEA, their story is perfectly paced and they’re perfectly matched. Filled with fun friends, family and a four-legged friend, you really can’t ask for more.
Aaaah! This was such an amazing start to a brand new series!! I loved this book so so much. As always Susan stoker rocked it! This book sucked me in from page one I couldn't stop reading it! I loved every second of it! I kind of thought Susan was going to make us wait until the last book to get Zeke's story! So glad it's next! Can't wait!
A new series from Stoker with the usual band of former military - SEALS, Green Berets and other special forces - now working as a SAR group. Nice world building of a small Virginia mountain town. I loved both the h and H Lilly and Ethan and all the side characters. Some suspense, very low angst, and you just knew Ethan and the guys would save Lilly when she needed it. Sweet slow building romance.
A new series, a new town and a new group. The premise is interesting and the relationship sweet. I am excited to see the team grow and meet their significant others. I kept waiting for the part where Lilly would need searching bc she was such a strong character. I didn’t figure out the villain until the story showed us that specific POV. The town sounds like a hallmark channel and I love the gossip chain!
