This was just utterly delightful. I don't want to spoiler anything. I went into this having read a few quotes and that was it. It was so easy to fall in love with Gramiel and Vex and I wish them all the best. Seriously, just read this beautiful tale :)

Some quotes (this is going to be hard because I have a lot of highlights!)

"...I don't know what I'd do without you."
Bloody angel.
Bloody idiot.
"Honestly," said Vex, staring into the trees and blinking hard, "in future, can we save pronouncements like that for after we've disposed of the corpse?" (p. 21)

"Huh. Right. So peeking at a mate from a distance might not mean anything. Might just mean they're concerned about your health."
"Yes. I've sat on your neighbour's roof and spied on you many times for exactly that reason."
He nearly swallowed his cigarette. "Gram! The fuck?"
"Do you mind? I didn't think you'd mind."
Bloody angels. (p. 51)

"Can I have a hug?"
Instantly he was submerged in 225lbs of angel and musty second-hand clothes. "You can have a thousand." (p. 122)

Some of my favourite quotes are just too long to post here. Sometimes it's a whole page of aaaaah too many feelz
Some general things I just loved:

NSFW infos:
Can't be categorised in human categories..but for some insight
- One demon (human prosthetic is a curvy twink)
- One angel (demi and trans)

If I had to pick a least-favourite trope, angels & demons would probably be it. And yet, I loved this. TJ Land’s writing clearly works for me. There heavier topics in this book are balanced out so well with humour and emotionally charged moments.

A demon with PTSD & chronic pain. A 225lb muscular angel in doubt. The slowest of slowburns (they have eternity, after all). A war against Heaven & Hell. An interesting cast of supporting characters.

My one complaint would be the epilogue, but I dislike epilogues in general, so there’s nothing new there.

Fabolous as always

T.j. land is able to infuse everything I appreciate in a piece of literature into their writing. While these creatures and situations are not necessarily new this author is able to infuse them into a story and world that is both terribly heartbreaking and incredibly loving. Will paced with characters I think anyone should be able to appreciate and natural world building. With a gorgeous romance that fuels the plot instead of feeling like a product of it .

Oh my goodness. This book! What an unexpected gem. I truly loved it.

This is such a cozy, feel good book that tackles incredibly big and important topics and concepts in a way that keeps it remarkably human and accessible. This is a story that could easily have gone super dark and gruesome (and that's not to say there aren't incredibly dark moments) but it doesn't linger there and instead consistently balances the bleakness with humor and gentleness, resolving many a conflict with kindness and compassion. It really is an incredible book with so many lovable characters and one I highly recommend to fans of books such as Legends and Lattes or to anyone who likes their romantasy served with a generous dollop of political dismantling. Also, this book is super queer with an array of rep. There is also disability rep in this book.

Minor gripe: there were a few proofreading errors such as spelling, grammar mistakes and the occasional missed word.

Nano's ability to explore a trope that has been done again and again is very impressive. They bring dimension to the demon/ angle pairing that it have only ever seen in Good Omens.

Side note, I adore Vex. <3

First time hearing about this series and I'm glad I was able to read it all in one book.
I liked Vex and Gramriel, they are different than what you would usually expect from a book about angels and demons.

There is no instant love or page upon page with steamy content, it's filled with plotting and planning that spans over years, though a blip in existence for the ones we read about.

There are some emotional moments, some fun moments and a bit of excitement as well.

I found it to be a bit long winded, it's a lot of pages and some of it is much of the same when they are gathering the people they need.

Overall an enjoyable book.

What a fantastic book. The world building was introduced to us in a natural way, and I quickly fell in love with all the characters, they are markable and unforgettable. As a person with a disability I felt truly connected to Vex, but also to Gram, as a trans person. The plot was intriguing, and I was curious to see how they would achieve their goals. It's been a while since I felt this way, like reading something well written, I can tell that the book was truly invested, I can feel the love and dedication of the author.

I don't understand why this book doesn't have a lot of recognition, but I will definitely recommend it to people.

two and a half star book rounded up.

It was marketed as a romance and is not a romance. There's a romance in the book, but most of the romance takes place off page, in a period time covered by "70 years later"

I think if you go into this book for the "angel and demon unite with assorted other supernatural creatures to take down both heaven and hell" storyline without expectations of a romance novel you'll enjoy it quite a bit.

If my expectations hadn't been set by the marketing, it might have been a "three and a half rounded up to four"

Really enjoyable, the whole series works as a clockwork to create a fascinating universe full of interesting characters. there is humour, adventure, intrigue, romance... and a deep reflection about good and evil and what should be considered worth fight for. I really liked the characters, I specially loved Vex and Gramiel when they met, as kids, and the time they shared together...
It is a long read, but worth your time

I do have to say, I haven't read a book with this plot line before now. A demon and an angel befriend as kids and through the horrors inflicted on one of them, they plot to change the way things are run. It is not mainly a romance but it would not be the same without that aspect. Nothing is graphically described in terms of sex.

There was good pacing even with skipping several years at a time.

After "The Merging" Earth has melded with all the other dimensions. Trolls, fae, humans, all live side by side. The only realms that have remained independent are Heaven and Hell. Lucifer, of course rules Hell, though the demons don't know why. Gabriel keeps tabs on Heaven as God has been missing for a very long time. Our MC's, Vex (a lust demon) and Gramiel (a low ranked angel) meet as children and spend most of their time growing up, sneaking away to Earth to hang out. Such is the beginning of a life long friendship that eventually sees the two plotting to overthrow the political structures of both realms. Tons of humor in this, and some sauciness, mainly from Vex. Some serious moments, and some sweet. Cats, cats should definitely be allowed into Heaven. Fairly low heat level, but the story is more focused on "The Plan."

Well. That was a hell of a book, first half was a straight up 5 stars, second half was still great but not as much as the first.
I loved Vex and Gramiel, relationship and their dynamics was chief kisses. The way they were oblivious yet feral for each other. Yep 💯 would recommend.
I didn’t care much about the war but the rest was really entertaining!

Just fantastic!

From the beginning to the end I was totally entertained. There was no skimming pages. I had to read every word. Vex and Gramiel were a wonderful engaging couple. All of the characters added to the story line. Loved this book

so much fun

This is such an original and intriguing story. I really hated for it to end. I look forward to more stories from this author.

T.J. Land is very good at writing devotion and MCs who really know each other ("...I love it when you're arrogant. Watching you be cruel is one of my life's greatest delights. I'm never frightened of you, darling, not even a little bit..."). They're also good at writing humour, social commentary, fleshed out non-protagonists, and they don't bow to the (boring!) standards of conventional physical attractiveness.

The final battle didn't quite match up to the build-up and there's a moment where the balance between humour and violence falters when .

I've re-read this book countless times and I just love it. The slow-burn! The yearning! Kind-hearted demons and vengeful angels going against trope and type and creating a found family to end all found families!

This is a comfort read for me and I'm grateful I found it.
