a good compliment to her autobiographies "A Girl Like I" and "Kiss Holywood Good Bye"

A solid bio in terms of being informative about Anita Loos, but I found the author inserted his opinions/POV too much in this one. I don't read a bio for the author's opinion of the various things in the subject's life.

The subject is fascinating and Anita brushed shoulders with so many celebrities! Got shot at by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Celebrated New Year's with Larry Hagman. Was best friend with Charlie Chaplin's wife. There are a lot of remarkable anecdotes in this book. Anita did not have the best taste in men, though. However, I am not sure if I care about Carey's style of writing.

I read this because one of my reading challenges was to read a book of a writer I admire.

There were interesting pieces, but this kind of biography, without a lot of historical context, are not my favorite kinds of writing.

Anita Loos led a very interesting life that also narrates the coming of age of America. There were a lot of names mentioned and I found it hard to remember all of them. Other than that, a very enjoyable read.
