Interesting read. 3.5 stars. Riley and Ethan got married young and their immaturity ruined their relationship. Outside forces from both sides contributed to misunderstandings, erroneous beliefs, and tragedy.
I found Ethan to be a bit forceful, oblivious to scheming women, and that pet name was annoying, but overall he was great guy. Riley was easily manipulated and had no backbone. They both learned from their mistakes and got their HEA.
The story eluded to a HEA but I didn’t witness it. Would have been great if there was a wedding scene and a baby on the way. Also, there was some minor grammatical errors. Still a good read.
This story was just ok for me. I didn't buy the H staying away from the h for 7 years even though he was still in love with her. I also didn't like that given what happened between them, the h was so quick to resume a physical relationship with the H.
Why must the lead female character be so dang week? Riley was absolutely awful. Apparently she was too young to get married, but she is now back seven years later. Much more mature and self assured. Actually, she was none of those things. She was probably one of the weakest female characters I’ve read. It was cringe worthy. Got 27% in and had to quit.
This book is so shallow. Both main characters had the maturity of young teenagers. So silly. Did Ms Vaughn actually write this book or some ghostwriter?
So usually I detest other woman drama even in past tense… but this book was not too long and the other woman drama truly was a misunderstanding and poorly handled by both, even tho I always blame the H more, haha. But here’s what made this book 5 stars for me; the H stayed celibate for their entire 7 year separation!!! NO DATING NO INTIMACY! WHAT! That almost never happens!! The h did date a few times but also stayed celibate (I would have preferred if she didn’t… hehe but it’s fine) Great book! The H used a little manipulation to get his woman back which is always nice.
3.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited Edition 130 page novella e-book. Second change romance. Best friend's brother. The story is sweet and well written with characters likable characters except the heroine's mother and sisters. After a seven year divorce, Riley "Kitten" Mason-Boudreaux and Ethan Boudreaux, enter into an agreement to have sex. Their sexual agreement magnifies their love and they reunite four weeks prior to the wedding of Ethan's baby sister, Riley's best friend. Ethan and Riley divorced because of negative input from Riley's family which fed Riley's insecurities turning her into a nag who constantly falsely accuses Ethan of being unfaithful. Ethan and Riley plan to marry where they honeymooned for they previous marriage, they also plan to get marriage counseling and to keep what goes on in their marriage private and bar family involvement.
First off, I enjoyed the basic premise of the story. But, ugh, I truly hate weakness, especially weak women. Even though Riley is just a fictional character, we've all known that person who allows family/friends dictate what goes on in their personal life. I just have little to no tolerance, and that's why it's such a sore point for me. However, did love other aspects of the story. Loved Ethan, Megan and Rachel. So now I'm wondering about Rachel, her son Eli and the cousin of Jackson Elliott. Could the little guy be a result of s fling/liaison between Rachel and Elliott? I hope there is s follow on that explores that scenario.
Second chance romance story that was poorly executed.
Hated how the MMC sounded like it was the fulfillment of a fantasy every time they had sex or he talked to her body. Nothing sexy about sounding like some dude's fetish.
Why if they were still in love and lived in the same city, they never saw each other and had zero contact? That makes no sense to me. Seven years in the same town and never ran into each other? Again, makes no sense to me.
I enjoyed Ethan and Riley story., only wished it was more. The mother and sister were some bitter people. It would recommend but know this is a short story.
I always love second chance romances and this was a great concept. Ethan and Riley were married young and failed to strains of their marriage the first time. But after they meet at her best friends engagement party they find the spark is still burning and they decide to pursue a physical relationship with no string attached.
The problem I found was Riley hadn't really matured beyond the naive girl from 7 years ago and the only saving grace Ethan had with his aggression in getting physical with her is the fact we were in her head a while earlier and knew she wanted him otherwise the situation was awkward looking at it from the outside.
It's a cute story though and the couple seem to genuinely want to give themselves a better shot at love after recognizing and accepting what went wrong the first time.
Dear Eve Vaughn please write more the craft will get better and the stories are interesting.
Highkey should have quit earlier. This is lowkey why age gap romances that surround best friend’s sibling/ sibling’s best friend is always cringe and weird to me.
Why are you constantly mentioning her age? And that she’s too young for you? And that she’s your sister’s friend? Leave her alone if you’re that fucking concerned.
And the sister?! Emotional manipulator. How are you this grown and always fucking cry when you don’t get your way? And giving your brother your “best friend’s” information knowing she wants nothing to do with him? You’d get you arse beat and dropped for that.
Ethan had a weird possession over Riley and the sex scenes where cringe.
I loved reading this story. Riley married Ethan very young. He was older and more prideful and coupled with her immaturity and negative counseling from her mother and a jealous sister, the union did not last. They were able to meet up again 7 years later and pick back up from where they left. I was definitely frustrated with Riley and the dynamics with her mother but I am glad she finally came to herself and reconciled with Ethan. FYI, I spotted another developing plot with her sister Rachel and I can’t wait to read her story as it seems it will be very juicy.
This was about a couple who married young and quick. Too much immaturity and not enough communication led to the end of their marriage. This was a good, quick read. I wish there was more information on Riley's mother and father. I want to know how Sheila, Riley's mother, and their father got to the point that they needed to separate. Sheila needs counseling.
I am so sick of books where the grown daughter lets the negative, pessimistic, overbearing, know-it-all parent/s (mother) telling the daughter/child how to live their life. Very few of them encourage their kids to be happy in who they choose (it's their red wagon to push or pull),let them be. I couldn't put this book down. This is really good, minimal grammatical errors. Stuff was left out but I would recommend reading. Its a feel good book.
She was young, inexperienced and immature and he was 8 years older and more mature, … love doesn’t discriminate age. Ethan was a very proud man, a provider, love Riley with all his heart, but life got in the way, combined with Riley immaturity who involved too many “voices” in her marriage. See how they found each other again and this time no one and nothing will stop Ethan getting his wife back. That man is the total package, indeed!! Love Megan!
This was truly a good book I wish that it would’ve went into more detail about Ethan and how he felt when he was a Maui. What was he going through when he was trying to process the fact that Raleigh did not want to be with him anymore. We all know women like Raleigh’s mother and her sister rain it’s just sucks that she allowed Them to take up so much reserves in her life.
Another great read. I’m really enjoying all of Ms Vaughan’s books. This is a great example about how each individual has to choose to be happy and it comes from within. A Bitter Mother, jealous Sister, stubborn husband, paranoid suspicious wife who won’t listen to reason is a bad combination for any relationship no matter how much love there is. Riley will have to choose to be right or to be loved.
I really liked this story. The author actually wrote a story with the heroine that I could enjoy without violence being involved. This story was romantic and erotic. Ethan and Riley were two people who were separated by misunderstandings and too many outside forces. Family members should not know every aspect of your marriage, especially bitter women. Ladies talk to your spouses. Thank you Ms. Vaughn for such an enjoyable read.
Riley and Ethan had been divorced for seven years after a brief marriage. Circumstances and outside interference quickly tore them apart. But when a "chance" meeting at an engagement party brings them together, Ethan, in order to win his wife back, has a proposition for Riley...
This is probably one of the better short novels I have read in a long time. I absolutely love Riley and Ethan. Their love proved what's meant to be will be and 2. Keep people out of your relationship. I felt sorry for the mom. I really hope there is a story about Rachel and Elliot.
Very lovely story about love the 2nd time between exes, loved how she molded both characters and the story was so life like, every day occurrence.. The heat was off the charts, left me wondering if there's another book in the works regarding Elliot and his mysterious Candice hmmm
Whether girlfriends or family, one should limit the personal info given. When you have forgiven and moved on, the others in your life will still hold a grudge or attack the person they think harmed you. It is a lesson we all need to learn. Everyone has advice about fixing our life, while their own is falling apart. An interesting story.
I'm so sad it ended but it was worth the read 📚. It sucked that the mom and sister took there bitterness out on Ethan bc of there failed relationships but misery loves company. ❤️ what happens in ur relationships should never be for others to have so much say it......you should be careful of who u share ur happiness with...
This was a cute and quick second chance at love for Riley and Ethan. Glad they both learn the lessons they needed to learn in order for their second chance. I feel story for Riley’s mother cause you gotta be in a lot of pain to carry on that type of hate.
I enjoyed the story and saw a lot similarities with some family members. I can easily see a Yorkville being influenced by someone in an authoritative position. It was good to see them work their issues out.
I see a story for Elliott and Rachel. Worthless too young and let the bitterness of her Muslim and distraction her marriage. Megan was a good friend and happy for her. Glad Riley and Ethan find their happily ever after in the end.
Riley and Ethan’s marriage faced a lot of interference and miscommunications. This book has a HEA but I want to now know Rachel’s story. Keep it coming!
