Scots of Honor #4

The Scot Who Loved Her

Rate this book
Highland war heroes rebuilding their lives grapple with ladies forging their own paths—who will win?

Regency Scotland comes alive in the vibrant and sexy new SCOTS OF HONOR series by USA Today bestselling author Eliza Knight. Scottish military heroes, who want nothing more than to lay low after the ravages of war in 19th century France, find their Highland homecomings vastly contradict their simple desires. Especially when they meet the feisty lasses who are tenacious enough to take them on, and show them just what they’ve been missing out of life. In battle they can’t be beaten, but in love, they all find the ultimate surrender.

After a brutal fight to secure a vital military secret, Scottish lord Malcolm Gordon, codename Raven, races from Edinburgh to deliver the news to his commanding officer in London. But before he arrives, he crosses paths with a lady's bullet.
Miss Olivia Aston is horrified that she's shot a man while hunting. Fortunately, he's still alive. But what to do with the gravely wounded Highlander? Her father despises the Scots and will likely turn him out once he's discovered. With this latest blunder, there is also the very real possibility that her father will permanently remove her from society as he did her sister. But she can't simply leave him to die.

Malcolm awakens to discover that the information he carried has been stolen, and there's no evidence of the culprit, other than a memory of her soft voice and bonny face. Time is running out. Despite his wound (mysteriously stitched), he must now hurry to get to the duke. When he reaches London, Malcolm learns the secrets he carried have already been compromised. He is charged with ferreting out the traitor amidst Edinburgh society. Begrudgingly, Malcolm is thrust into one soiree after another, only to come face to face with his beautiful, charming female assailant.

Will she shoot him again? Though he has no solid evidence against Lady Olivia, she has to be linked to the traitors. He could drag her from the ballroom, present her to the powers that be as a possible suspect, but instead, he takes the dangerous flirtation to the next level. There is something utterly alluring about a woman who holds a weapon as well as she dances. Malcolm's determined to make Olivia swoon until she confesses everything—that is, until someone makes an attempt on both their lives. What started as a game of cat and mouse turns into a deadly adventure, revealing startling intelligence neither of them sees coming.

When a scandal cuts short her London Season and her father sends her to Scotland until things settle down, Olivia Aston, the daughter of Viscount Halvellyn, couldn’t be happier! She loves Scotland and can’t understand why her father hates it so, especially since he is half-Scot. She looks forward to hunting, and riding and also hopes to visit her older sister Marian, who is currently in Scotland in an asylum after going mad. But she never expected to get caught up in the search for a traitor!

Malcolm Gordon, the Earl of Dunlyon and agent in HRM Secret Scots and is hot on the trail of a traitor when his path crosses with Olivia’s. He is on his way back to London with a suspect and a stolen manifesto from the traitor's ship when he is attacked by a boar and in the process of killing it, is shot. He sees Olivia coming towards him with a gun and is sure she is the traitor or at least a spy, he pulls his dagger to hold her at bay and then passes out. Unable to let him die, she leaves him to get help. Olivia finds the groundkeeper's son, David and together they tend his wound, she notices that the sole of the man’s boot is gone, as is his horse and her gun. Worried her dad will discover she was hunting in defiance of his orders, she asks David to take care of the man. But while David is gone to get a wagon, Malcolm wakes and realizes the manifesto is gone and so is his horse! When David returns, Malcolm learns Olivia’s name and knocks out David, steals his horse and shirt, and sets out for London to meet with his superior and to find Olivia. But finding Olivia means going into society, which means he will have to ask the last woman he ever wanted to see again for help - his mother. And so begins this wild adventure to find a traitor and if they survive, maybe even the love of a lifetime!

This is the final installment in the Scots of Honor series and WOW, readers are in for a treat! This well-written, fast-paced book has something for everyone; spies, traitors, sibling reunions, rumors of madness, great secondary characters, steamyish love scenes, shocking revelations, more than one twist that will keep you guessing until the very end, and finally a lovely HEA complete with an epilogue. All four books were so good that it is almost impossible to pick a favorite, but if I had to choose, I think this one would be my pick. This is the fourth and final book in the series, but it could easily be read as a standalone title, but do yourself a favor and read the series in order – you won’t be disappointed!

3.5 stars rounded up.

After working to secure a vital state secret, Captain Malcolm Gordon, also the Earl of Dunlyon, is in a rush to send the information to his superior in London, but before he’s made it much past Edinburgh, he’s shot by an innocent-seeming lady.

Miss Olivia Aston is appalled that her shot missed the boar she was aiming for and hit a man instead, but she’s thankful he’s still alive. Her father can’t stand the Scots and will likely bar her from society permanently if he learns of her latest blunder, so she must find a more clandestine way of helping the man.

Malcolm wakes to discover that the information he’d managed to attain has been stolen and he has no idea where his attacker fled or how his wound came to be stitched. He has no time to investigate and must instead hurry to London, where he learns that the information he gathered has already been compromised. Now to sniff out a traitor, Malcolm must take his place in high society, unwittingly bringing him face to face with his lovely assailant and beginning a flirtation that could prove fatally distracting from his mission.

This was a quick and entertaining read, nothing especially groundbreaking, but a solid story, nonetheless. Malcolm is at first very much blinded by his assumptions that Olivia must be a counterintelligence operative working against him, and later on his burgeoning feelings for her blind him to the fact that she’s innocent and delay his identification of the true culprit a bit. Olivia is a bit clueless and dramatic, but I liked the fact that she never shied away from her feelings for Malcolm, even when she worried that he intended to see her imprisoned, and she always stood up to her parents for him. Speaking of her parents, they were pretty awful, especially her petty mother, and we never got down to the bottom of her father’s fierce dislike of all things Scottish. I think I would’ve been more forgiving of them, and it might’ve made for a more well-rounded story if this had at least been touched on. I'm still not entirely sure how Olivia and Malcolm fell in love given that they only spent fleeting snatches of time together, but I found myself largely unbothered by this. The mystery element here was enough to keep me entertained but it was wrapped up in a rather rushed manner and I wanted more comeuppance on the page for the villains, rather than them just being arrested and taken away without being revisited in the text or having. All told, this was a solid story and I enjoyed reading a Highlander hero set in the Regency time period.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋

Excellent book from Eliza, highland adventure with a kick of Regency romance.
Perfect

Malcolm was deserted by his mother who hated the Scottish way of life, and his father. He was raised by that father to be a warrior in every way.
A Captain, an Earl, a Viscount, a spy for Wellington, he’s the perfect Alpha male.

Olivia is a bit of a hellion, she’s not really one for balls and routs in London, much rather be in Scotland with her horse and the countryside. Much to her mother’s disapproval.
That’s until she inadvertently wounds a highlander.

His search for her is in some part amusing in other tense, it’s a brilliant read.
Don’t miss this one!

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Book review

Malcolm Scott has no love for women as a child his English mother broke his heart and despised everything Scottish. Plus she had abandoned him and his father taking his sister Caroline with him. From that point he never trusted women besides his best friends wives of Lorne Gordon, Alec Hay and Euan Irvine. Well they were all taken. Now he works as a spy for his code name is Raven he had received to a top secret document from some traitors. It was not without bloodshed his hands as always the traitor do not care if it causes the life of their own country men as the French line their pockets with gold!

Now he gets shot by a woman in the forest and when he wakes up the document which had been in his shoe is missing! The last thing he wanted to do and he was told to try to hide his Scottish brogue too. Now Malcolm is certain this woman is another traitor that must be dealt with so he has to go disguise himself in London society. Now Malcolm is shocked to find himself awake in a strangers bed with his bullet wound cared for. Olivia had to do it all secretly as her father hated Scots! Why she had no idea. Of course he was totally wrong on this suspect whose name is Lady Olivia Ashton. After all he had been on her land father’s land she was only trying to save his life’s from this boar.

Now it was just another thing her family held against her. As she was banned from polite ton society due to her temper. Well people. As insanity runs in their family and her parents committed her to an asylum, we Olivia was not going to let and would defend her sister to the death! All this will do is put a target on Olivia’s back, even though Malcolm is very wrong on his accusations.

Furthermore, Malcolm and Olivia are both very attracted to each other like a moth to a flame. Will they act on these emotions or ignore them? Like putting away neatly in closet? Will their true enemies harm or murder Olivia and Malcolm in retaliation? Will Malcolm ever forgive is mother for her abandonment ? Will he rekindle a kinship to a sister he never knew? Read and find out in the fourth installment in the exhilarating Scots of Honor series.

Again Eliza Knight pens another brilliant book I could not put down! It is another action packed romantic adventure filled with espionage, treachery, heartbreak and deception! Plus the backdrop between Scotland and England. I have read every book in the Scots of Honor series which you can read as a stand alone book or in series order, Another book I highly recommend.

Miss Olivia Grace Aston just could not conform to English society no matter what her very stiff parents would like her to be. Olivia managed to anger the ton with her hoydenish behavior especially since she poured punch on a lord. Olivia just wishes she could escape the strictures of society, but when gossip about her older sister making it difficult to be a part of society. Olivia’s parents decide to ship her off to Scotland. When the Earl of Dunlyon, Viscount Wyndridge, Malcolm Alexander Gordon high-level intelligence officer in His Majesty’s Secret Scots is back in Scotland getting a very confidential ship manifesto from a ne’er-do-well, who at sword point gives it to him. Malcolm is on his way when Oliva accidentally shoots him. Malcolm is less than pleased even though Olivia attempts to explain that it was a mistake. Olivia also is closed to being discovered by her father. When he finds out that she has been hunting she will be punished. Olivia begs a friend to help the man she shot. Olivia attempts to forget the ordeal but when Olivia sees Malcolm all better, she really can’t avoid him especially when he believes that Olivia is a traitor and is hiding the manifesto from him.
What a fantastic adventure filled historical romance by Ms. Eliza Knight! The story flows very smoothly from England to Scotland and back again with seamlessly. That it isn’t hard to imagine either place without any issues. There are a few times when things aren’t explained fully but it really isn’t hard to follow the tale. So, in truth, the book can stand alone even though it is part of a series too. Sure, the story is meant to be serious in part but when the heroine shoots the hero even though it is a somber moment you can’t help but giggle a little bit. Even the characters no matter who they are whether they are major or minor are amazingly real and life-like. Olivia attempts very hard to be a proper lady but fails miserably and her true tomboyish actions just shine through. She would be a whole lot of fun even if it is banned hunting. I sure would like to go hunting with her even if it would probably lead to horrible consequences. While Malcolm the swoony handsome Scot is also hard to not only avoid but fall for. Hopefully, there will be more stories in the series because I would definitely read them too!

Scottish Earl of Dunlyon, Lord Malcolm Gordon is a spy for Wellington, a Captain, and agent in HRM Secret Scots. He was raised by his warrior father after his mother returned to England, to civilization. Malcom in other words he’s a sexy handsome alpha male. Olivia Aston is quite the rebellious young woman who gets sent to Scotland by her father after the latest scandal, and she’s very happy to be going to the wilds of Scotland. Malcom “the Raven” is working with the war office to find a traitor when he’s shot and finds his missing evidence has been compromised. I love this story Olivia accidently shoots Malcom and the story really takes off as he’s charged with finding the traitor and he feels Olivia knows more than she willing to say. This is a captivating story of cat and mouse as Malcom wine and dines. Olivia hoping for a confessing, but the both their lives are in danger when some tries to kill them both. The game changes again as they try to find the real traitor to the crown whose both intelligent and extremely dangerous. I voluntarily read and reviewed the great story!

Malcom Gordon might not be in the Black Watch anymore but he's still working for the Crown.  With his heritage as a Scottish and English Earl he's perfectly suited for the life of a spy.  On his way to his leader with important information he gets stopped by a bullet. Obviously he's been discovered.

Our hero carries a lot of emotional baggage and this might be affecting his beliefs.

Miss Olivia Aston is struggling through her London season.  Too many people know about her sister and that makes a difference to how they treat her.  Even her parents watch her too closely.

Our heroine has her own doubts and worries.  The nincompoops of the ton deserve to have punch thrown on them.

An exciting historical romance that is part of a series but easily read on it's own.  The characters are great fun and really interesting.

Great fun.

The Scot Who Loved Her
Scot's of Honor #4
Eliza Knight
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Scottish Lord Malcolm Gorden, codename Raven, is racing from Edinburgh to deliver the news to his commanding officer in London. But before he get there he crosses paths with a lady's bullet.
Miss Olivia Aston is shocked and can't believe she really shot a man while hunting. He's still alive, but she really doesn't know what to do with the wounded highlander. Her father dislikes the Scots and will kick him out if he's discovered. With her latest antics, she thinks her father will pull her away from society permanently, like he did with her sister. But she can't just leave him to die.

Malcolm awakens to find that the sensitive information he carried has been stolen, his wound mysteriously stiched and the only thing he can remember is a memory of a females soft voice and her bonny face. Despite his wounds Malcolm knows he must now hurry if he's going to get to the Duke. When he reaches London, he realizes that the secrets he carried may have already been compromised. Now he has to find the traitor amidst London society. Malcolm now goes to one soiree after another, only to finally come face to face with the beautiful assailant he was looking for.

Though he has no real evidence against Lady Olivia, he's sure she's got to be linked to the traitors. Above all else he knows this woman has something to do with it all, and he aims to find out the truth. That is when there's an attempt on both their lives.

Eliza knight is incredible. This author puts her pen to paper and the words just seem to flow. The characters were perfect for eachother and melted my heart like a hot knife in butter. All in all you can never go wrong with any book that's written by Ms. Knight.

This is the fourth book in the series, but also a standalone. I have read the other three and I loved this book as much as the others. Malcolm works for the war office and is tracking a traitor or what he thinks is a group of traitors. When he is short by the lovely Olivia. Malcolm is determined to find out Olivia’s involvement but at what cost. Could it be his heart?

This story had me from the first and I could not put it down! This is definitely a “Calgon take me away book”! I definitely immersed myself in this book and it was wonderful! You definitely don’t want to miss this one.

Malcolm has risked his life in service to the crown. On a special assignmeent to find a traitor, Malcolm is shot and when he awakens, discovers he has lost the important information he was carrying.
Olivia is in Scotland to avoid yet another scandal. After her sister was whisked away to the asylum, Olivia has become the talk of society. She wants to find a husband and happiness, but she only seems to attract trouble. Her chance meeting with Malcolm is no exception.
After so many misunderstandings, these two finally come together and discover how connected their hearts have become.
Loved Malcolm and Olivia's story. Well written, as always, with great adventure and mystery,

Fantastic!

I loved everything about this book! Malcolm is a Scottish Earl, an English Viscount, and a spy for the War Office. As he is fleeing for London with evidence in his shoe, he is shot by a lass while he is killing a boar. Olivia is that lass. She is completely overcome when she realizes she shot him and goes for help to patch him up. That was the beginning of their attraction. There is humor, suspense, twists, prejudice, family secrets, strong friendships and of course LOVE.

Raven
Olivia was in Scotland thinking of her punch throwing disgrace in London. Riding her horse in deep thought she saw a wild boar charging a man and she shot, but hit the man. Malcolm a trained spy was brought down by a slip of a woman, but he would live and bring her to justice. Action on every page with hint of a love affair.

I liked this story, and the mystery and the interesting characters. Strong well rounded, feisty Olivia gets tangled up with Malcolm and the chemistry flies as they try to figure out the mystery. Good read

enjoyable

I enjoyed reading this story. For a typical romantic story, it was a little different in that it was also a mystery of sorts which kept it interesting. Otherwise it would just be another boy meets girl and they fall in love kind of story.
