I had no idea what was in store for me since getting locked up. With my old organization gone, and freedom looming, though, I had a visitor with an offer I couldn’t refuse. A new career path. As an arms-dealing biker. Everything seemed to be on track. Until I put my hands on the one woman in town who I wasn’t allowed to touch…
Delaney
I’d secretly had a crush on him before he went away to prison. I’d been too young at the time, but his years away changed all that. So when he walked into the bar I was working at and asked me if I wanted to leave with him, I didn’t even hesitate. But Judge didn’t want anything serious. And there were forces beyond our control that demanded we stay apart. Even with their threats looming, though, we couldn’t seem to stay away from each other. Until an enemy threatened to tear us apart for good…
Jessica Gadziala is a USA Today bestselling author who lives in rural New Jersey with her parrots, dogs, and an ever-growing collection of houseplants. A lifelong dreamer, she’s been writing stories since childhood and published her first book in 2015. When not at her desk, she’s usually feeding backyard birds, rewatching crime dramas, period pieces, and 90s supernatural TV shows, or adding to her towering stacks of unread books.
Welcome to sleepy town of Shady Valley California, where it was an unlikely place to find so many criminal syndicates. Located in one of the most rural parts of California, just on the other side of Death Valley, and the home of the new Henchmen’s branch.
We start off with Judge’s story .. and damn what a story it is ….. but than of course we shouldn’t Doubt Jessica’s abilities, in creating a new town with potential of so many possibilities of other Syndicate books.
Judge hasn’t seen the light of day in just over 4 years, due to the fact he has been sitting behind bars
Imagine his surprise when he gets a visit from. from Unknown person. offering him the opportunity of a lifetime …… I say the opportunity of a lifetime, cuz he had no clue where he was going to end up after getting out of Prison. He couldn’t believe it when he was told that he would receive some type of compensation. plus, he would have a roof over his head. Only catch was, he had to be a prospect. For at least six months, whatever that meant, it’s not like he anything about being biker
Delaney Murphy working at the local Pub under the watchful eyes of her 5 brothers ….. oh did I mention that? They ran the local Irish mafia and that Delaney brothers had a strict “Don’t touch Delaney” rule.
What’s girl to do, when her girlhood crush walking right back into her life. Judge, everyone called him. But his real name was Jasser.
This somewhat set the tone of the rest of the story. But don’t think that that was the only thing in the background. Of this book, there was a bit of A twist in turn to this story as well.

I’m a fan of this author. Her writing style is easy to read, her books are polished, I get her humor, and they’re almost always free to read with KU… basically, I will always round them up. And I did enjoy this, but I found it a smidge lacking in the drama department. I also wasn’t a HUGE fan of the couple’s dynamic.
The book starts with Judge being released from prison and joining the local arms dealing biker gang. The gang visits the local bar where he meets Delaney. She is the baby sister of the local Irish mob and has had a crush on Judge forever. Not recognizing her, he asked her to leave with him and she jumped at the chance to cash in her V-card. Stuff happens, and he has his ass beat by her brothers with a warning to stay away. This sets up the rest of the book which mostly focuses on them and their forbidden relationship.
“I didn’t know. In my head, I picture Dell as a kid,” I admitted. “The fuck you let her grow up for?” I asked. “Well, we tried to stunt her growth with coffee and energy drinks,” Rian said, always the more laid-back jokester of all the brothers. “It didn’t take.”
I liked both mc’s, but I expected more from a mob princess and a badass biker dude. They basically act like teenagers sneaking around where I wanted them to be tougher. Also, the nature of their relationship limited the amount of time they could spend together which hurt the romance development.
Bottom Line- I liked it, but it didn’t have a ton going on. I adored all the characters, enjoyed her brothers, and will definitely read the next book.

Another JG book which I inhaled as it was the perfect sweet, quick and easy flowing story. I wouldn’t say that the plot was anything I haven’t read 10000x before (not every aspect of the plot but the action part of it - there’s only so many scenarios of a girl in danger you can come up with)BUT I did enjoy the sweet relationship between the MCs.
The best thing about this book is that it really was a great introduction to the new Chapter of Henchmen MC Shady Valley. I love the cast of characters (some more than others) and can’t wait for more releases in the series. The Henchmen Chapter in Golden Glades already had some great stories and I just know I’ll love these ones as much.
Shady Valley Henchmen are totally the dog’s bollocks. Different from the original Navesink Bank Henchmen but just as clever, criminal and entertaining to look at and listen to as the original chapter of the MC.
From the day Jasser "Judge" Amir is released from prison, his life changes direction in ways he could never have imagined, not even having had many months to contemplate his future while locked up. First, he was offered a recruit position with the Henchmen MC. He hadn’t really known about them before, but what did he have to lose. He was game for a new gig, and they picked him up outside the prison gates and introduced him to a new lifestyle. Second, on his first evening out, he sees and greets the woman of his dreams with “You wanna get out of here?” And third, she went with him.
No spoilers from me – all I can say is this is an awesome story you’re going to want to carve a good chunk of time out to thoroughly enjoy.
I appreciate Gadziala’s writing style. I love the premise of one of the MC’s being fresh from a stint in prison. This book initially delivered on the angst I always seek. I loved how the H was so callous to the h at first. I would’ve enjoyed a bit more drama before their reconciliation.
Despite being a forbidden romance, the couple manages to sneak in a lot of time together—some of it through lucky chance. This was an entertaining read and I couldn’t put it down. I was surprised by who the villain turned out to be. The ending was great.

I really enjoyed this introduction to Shady Valley, and to Jessica Gadziala as an author. Despite the less than ideal circumstances that their relationship started in, I thought Judge and Delaney were really sweet together. I actually admired Delaney's ability to see what she wanted, go after it and firmly hand it her virginity in the span of half an hour, because my anxiety could never. I liked Judge's tenacity and perseverance when it came to winning Delaney and her family over (after he'd pulled his head out of his arse, of course), and the fact he was willing to risk the wrath of her brothers (the Irish Mob, no less!) in order to be with her. Speaking of her brothers, I'm a sucker for an overprotective brother or five, so I'm hopeful that I can do some digging and find their spinoff series, or at least the potential release date for it, since I was very intrigued by all of them and their dynamic. It was a solid introduction to the world of the Shady Valley Henchmen; fast paced, easy to follow, a little bit of something for everyone and, of course, a happily ever after!
Judge fresh out of prison just looking for a place to call home settles into the clubhouse of the newly formed Shady Valley chapter of the Henchmen MC.
Delaney working at the local Pub under the watchful eyes of her brothers spots her long time crush. Judge!
It takes a handful of words and he’s inside of her🙌🏽 Only he didn’t know who she was or what he was taking by doing it.
These two are really good together and I love that Judge isn’t intimidated by her brothers!
*I CANT WAIT for her brothers stories!
This being the first book there is a lot of building going on and of course JG does it beautifully. The club brothers definitely have me intrigued 🥵🥵
this was my introduction to darker romance / spicy novels and i must say, i enjoyed it immensely. it wasn’t overly heavy and it didn’t have too many content warnings that upset me or triggered me. the bad boy becoming soft for one girl and one girl only has always had a choke hold on me, so i was ecstatic when i realised that was the direction this romance was taking. overall, i’m really impressed with this novel and i plan on reading every single book from this author starting today!
Shady Valley is a new Henchman chapter. With a new new set of bikers, and a whole new town to love! Judge is the newest member of the MC. He recently got out of prison and is looking to party it up and enjoy life. Than along comes Delaney. A bartender and only sister to the Murphy Brothers. Very protective brothers. This new chapter of the MC is so much more than I could have imagined! There are so many new side characters itching to have their stores told. This particular story is a great beginning to the new town. It keeps you on your toes throughout the story. I also laughed out loud at a couple parts. Oh, and don’t forget about the sexy times… yummy! Such a good read!
Shady Valley is my new favourite place to be. How can it not be with a name like that.
Judge is cocky, arrogant and definitely an alpha type. Hes not an asshole though... he's just not looking for the long term straight out of jail. He's just looking for a one dip wonder. A stress reliever if you will. He got a whole lot more than he bargained for.. that's for damn sure.
Delaney is a small town sweetheart surrounded by a pit of crimal activity and smothered by 5 very over protective 'father'-brothers. It's safe to say this lady does not get her jig on and most definitely does not have the freedoms of most women her age do to explore. Well.. she didn't.
Judge and Delaney are a pair of sorts. To say they have a rocky road would be a huge understatement. There are many obstacles to overcome and none of them are even a little small. But they do it, and they do it against all the odds.
There is forbidden relationships. There is mc + a whole boat of other criminal activity. Sweet shy gal vs Grumpy hot guy.
THE TENSION. Lord. Buckle up for it. It's a ride.
I love this first look into the Shady Valley Henchmen and everything they have the potential to bring. I feel like the new world and these characters are coming in a little more gritty with a smidge more naughty then our much loved OG Henchmen. I get it.. for the fans it's hard nor to compare but when you dive in you will realise very quickly that you have the room to love more than just the OGs. This new bunch are bringing their own flavour to the game and so far it's tickling my senses in all the right ways.
Jessie being the queen she damn well is gives us a great story thay kept me locked in the whole way with fabulous characters that I just wanted more from. Whilst simultaneously teasing us with future stories from characters I just know everyone will want a piece of!. Talk about multi tasking!!!.
Judge and Delaney had me all up in my feelings with their crazy hot chemistry, building tensions, sweet forbidden lusting and moments of pure vulnerability that had me swooning and heartbroken all at once.
Like I said... It was a journey. But I loved it and honestly I wish I could read it for the first time all over again.
I want Nyx for OBVIOUS REASONS.
But GIRL. GIVE ME CONNOR. I'm all about the raging bull.
And Cillan because well all I'm thinking is Peaky Blinders if I'm honest.
But also... Crow... the eyeball shenanigans have me curious and yes I painfully aware of how crazy that makes me sound.
The Henchmen's second sister chapter is finally up and running in California. First up is the Judge who has just recently been released from prison. He was recruited to join the MC while still in prison and on his first night out he meets Delaney Murphy – the youngest sister of 5 overly protective Irish brothers.
The author introduces us to all the “current” Shady Valley Henchmen, some who we met in the Second Generation Henchmen series. We are also introduced to the heroines large Irish Mob family of 5 brothers.
This was a great start to the series that I hope it has the longevity like the Henchmen/Navesink Bank Universe.
Not my favorite start to a new Henchmen series. I honestly found there to be no chemistry between the two MCs...they barely spent time together, how was I meant to be invested in them as a couple?!
Here's hoping that the next installment in the Shady Valley series is better. But who am I kidding...as long as there are Henchmen in the world, imma be reading!
Well, well, well. What do we have here? ANOTHER BOOK BOYFRIEND?! Yes, I think so. New series, starting off with a BIG BANG!! Loved the side characters, the new city, and LOVED Judge & Dell!!
Five stars!!! Judge was a great introduction to a new series as well as a new charter for the Henchmen MC. This was a fantastic read and I hated to see it end! Jessica Gadziala created the perfect biker when she created Judge. He had it all sexiness, ruggedness, loyalty, and fearlessness because having to deal with five overprotective brothers was not for the weak. Delaney was so sweet and loveable but oppressed by macho men and that broke my heart a little. She definitely needed Judge even without fully knowing it. Their need for each other gave them a great foundation even with all the craziness swirling around them. Jessica Gadziala hyped me up with this book and now I need more she always gives me new characters to fall in love with and although we met Slash in previous books, I REALLY need his story now!!!
So far seems like a great set up for a new NB concept town. MC starter club, Irish mob, loads of shady characters in Shady Valley. Straight out of jail the hero’s first foray into getting back on the proverbial horse in with a 21 year old virgin. Then every foray after that either he was injured from a beating or she was. Which made reading all those sexy times quite painful even though slamming a woman up on a wall with broken or bruised ribs is apparently a turn on 🤷🏻♀️. This is a major part in my three star because I’m sure I average four with JG. I just couldn’t get into that part. The villain was well setup so it took the author to reveal it when the time came. Although once she did the foreshadowing I was on the lookout! Overall I’m sure I’ll get into this new town, with a hard to read map no less - haven’t ever seen a layout of a tidy town from JG before.🙃
This series is going to be amazing! Can not wait to see what is in story for the people of Shady Valley!! Grab this book up you are not going to want to miss the beginning!
Delaney and Judge are exactly what each other needs! So glad that they found there time!
WOW! What an amazing start to a new series! I know I already wrote this a few times, but she did it again, she wrote my favorite book, again 🤭
Incredibly dramatic and action packed story, with tons of new characters and endless new possibilities. I don't know why, but the stories about bad boys being brought to their knees by badass heroines are the best kind of stories for me. And who is more alluring than a bad, arrogant and alpha outlaw biker? Exactly, no one 🤣
Judge is the epitome of bad boy. I mean, look at the cover! 🥵 He is arrogant, he only thinks of himself and has only one goal in life, to find a "lucrative job" and a place to live after prison time. Until, on his first day out of prison, he meets the first woman in his life that he can't get out of his head.
Delaney is a girl from a small town that lives with her 5 overprotective brothers. That gives her no room for romantic adventures and even an alone time. She always dreams of great romance and meeting the love of her life someday, the only problem is her brothers will never accept that.
Until she gets into trouble and the situation changes dramatically.
Ok, I can't write more without spoiling the story. Read this book, it's a dream comes true for all romance lovers.
If I’d know this was a mafia book I probably would not have bought it/read it. As much as I love JG I am just not a fan of mafia “romances”. I hate in contemporary realistic fiction when women are “owned” by their family, unless they’re trying to break free from the cycle. And here she is not.
In contrast to a typically strong heroine in Jessica’s books, so it was really hard to even like, let alone connect, to Dell. She was a doormat and dull. I was much more interested in Nyx.
The gap was creepy/cringe too. He is thirty and she’s twenty-one with no real world experience. And she apparently “loved” him as a teen, I am not about a 15-16 year old with someone in their mid-twenties. Just icky. Not a fan of “new adults”. So many issues and things that it just doesn’t seem that a few years down the road they’d realistically still be together.
I didn’t feel any connection between the two other than sex and his deciding she was his possession.
If I didn’t already have the second book in the series I probably wouldn’t have bought it. There was no Henchmen feel to this new world, way more mafia than anything else. A fairly slow plot didn’t help either.
So first she makes me fall in love with Navesink Bank, and then Golden Glades, and now I'm going to be obsessed with Shady Valley too. Jessica Gadziala did it again and I am so excited to dive deep into a new chapter of the Henchmen. Delaney is awesome, Judge was perfect, and I am half in love with Detroit and Slash and Delaney's brothers. Warning: don't start this if you don't want to fall in love with a whole new Henchmen chapter. Actually, do start it. You won't regret it.
Judge such a good book. I do love Judge/Jass and Delaney together. I'm interested in why Conor is so grumpy. I love to find out what is going on with Delaney's best friend. I so look forward to more from this new series and town.
I love me some Henchmen, and this was an anticipated read. It did exactly what I wanted it too. Gave me hot mc alpha men and a new girl club forming! I can't wait to watch as this town/series grows.
This book was a little rushed for me. I didn’t really connect to the story till about the last 30%. I’ll definitely check out the next book though because this Author writes great series.
