One day I’m working at a dive bar in downtown Los Angeles, and the next I have the undivided attention of a ton of supernaturals…
Including the Shadow Council. They’re a sexy as hell team of guys who are committed to protecting this realm, and their attention is squarely focused on me. You see, the realms between the worlds are closed now, and nobody knows why except for one thing. It’s all the fault of the Mordha.
And when it comes out that I’m the last Mordha on earth, well, it turns into open season on me. But a turf war in Los Angeles? Not on the Shadow Council’s watch. Soon, I’m on lockdown in their Hollywood Hills mansion, and what a group of guys to be in lockdown with.
Remy- the lusty werewolf Sai- the worldly, no-nonsense vampire Ruairi- the fire-haired fae prince Bain- the mysterious incubus
The first guy makes me feel completely seen. One shares a connection with me that I can only begin to comprehend. Another aggravates in me in all the right ways. And the last, well, he arouses the darkest parts of my soul. The Shadow Council is tasked with keeping us all safe, but what will happen once they find out the truth?
That I’m the one who closed the realms.
The Shadow Council is book one in The Queen of Time and Thunder Series, a why choose paranormal romance series with a FMMMM relationship.

WARNING! Cliffhanger ending! It’s not a humongous one, but it’s definitely leaving you hanging! Never fear, book two is already here. Nova is a supernatural, hiding from supernatural society. When helping a friend, she finds herself exposed, and the target of assassins. Fortunately the council steps in, four beautiful supernatural men who are more than willing to protect her.
This is a reverse harem, that’s to say one woman, four men, so if that’s not to your taste, then move along! Unlike many RH stories though, this is not really one in which our lady starts out with all of them together, each romance is separate, each relationship building individually. Nova’s background is a mystery, her heritage somewhat hidden from herself and everyone, both readers and characters learn alongside each other as secrets are slowly revealed.
It’s an entertaining book, the world building is good and the characters are interesting. The magical worlds we don’t see are intriguing, as are the magical races and their motivation, and the overarching background story keeps you guessing. An enjoyable urban fantasy series for UF fans.
3.5 stars. So far I’m liking it. I’m a little annoyed at the formalities, though. It’s reading like a fantasy book set in a different time period, in terms of language and seriousness. In a weird way, since it’s definitely not. It’s just a tad too much for me, but I’m gonna keep reading for now.
I do like the characters, so far, though we know very little about them. The plot is interesting enough to make me want to continue. And the sex, while not as smutty as some of my favorites, is still hot.
🤷🏻♀️We’ll see if I get bored of it, I guess. So far I’m on the fence.
I’ve got nothing. Everything about this book is just…okay. There are a few technical errors, but not so many as to be excessively distracting. The characters were okay. None of them were particularly interesting or terribly offensive. The plot was okay. I still don’t get why fmcs rarely have a sense of self-preservation and are seemingly okay having their entire lives up-ended by strange men, but that’s neither here nor there.
I loved the bones of this story. A powerful supernatural who has been on the run but is discovered and trained by four different types of supes. I was also fascinated by the mystery of Nova's past and her abilities. I was pleasantly surprised when she shared her secret and communicated about leaving, both topics I thought would be used for a miscommunication set up. What was provided about the characters seemed encouraging. None of them were jerks including the main female, Nova. What I didn't love though is harder to explain. There was something that kept me from feeling much. I think it was a lack of detail but I am not positive. I just didn't feel any emotional investment which is always my goal when reading. I am interested enough to read the next book, however. It is not atypical, from my experience, that the lack of connection in the first book gets resolved in subsequent books.
Good writing and interesting plot. I like the mystery surrounding Nova’s past as well as the guys’. They are all likable characters and I think I’ll keep going with this series in the future.
This was good but slow moving. It reminded me a lot of Stella brie's book series "The Rowan", which was a five star read for me.
The issues I had with the book really centered around the writing style. There was very little dialogue in the book. For the majority of the book the characters were in their own head space.. This led to a lack of chemistry development between the characters. I think it also lessened my attention and i found myself pretty bored at about the 60% mark.
The characters were also a little 2 dimensional. Thinking back (yes, I just finished this) I seriously can't identify anyone's personality. Was the werewolf fun loving? Maybe?? They all seemed the same including our MFC.
I’m really enjoying this story so far and am excited to start the next book. However, there are some aspects that make me unsure if I’ll finish the series.
The narration feels weird. It’s hard to describe, but everything is written in a way that sounds mysterious—even when nothing is mysterious. When I read it, the narration feels like a low, suspicious voice with a hint of suspense… even when they’re just thinking about regular stuff. The whole tone of the book is strange, overly formal, and a bit archaic. It doesn’t fit with the relaxed modern-day setting.
The character building is lacking. None of the characters have been introduced in a way that makes you feel like you know them. There’s no depth. Even the FMC doesn’t feel fleshed out. They don’t have personalities or individuality. Right now, the main characters are just names and races.
The spice isn’t hot because it feels like the FMC is just having sex with nameless, faceless guys. There’s no relationship building. They practice magic or fight together, and when the appropriate amount of time has passed, they have sex. That’s the extent of their interaction.
I’m hoping these things improve. I’m pretty sure this is a new author, so I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt.
- 👀 Multiple POV - ❤️ 4 guys in potential harem (fated mates?) - 🌶 3/5 spicy stars - 🔥 fast burn - 🚫 No triggers, no MM, no OW/OM
I started, stopped... started over months later, stopped... and I just tried again a third time, and I just couldn't... maybe this is just more about having sex with four men than it will be about a story?
The real problem, though, is just the way the sentences read. It felt choppy, almost like too short the sentences. I'm not sure how else to describe it, though I can say that it made it hard for me to immerse myself.
I've experienced this once before in a book, and I didn't make it through the first chapter. I kept having this "end-of-sentence" moment. How to describe... "The week went by quickly. I was settling into a routine. I quite liked the routine." That, my fellow readers, is the best way to do this! Hey I'm not actually writing a story there! Lol
The second part I just wasn't connecting or feeling chemistry only here she is snagging one of them within the first half of the book! And even though she says she wants him and blah blah .. I didn't "feel" it through the writing. And it isn't like I didn't give it a chance I tried three times and it just was sparking nothing! Characters all felt very 1 or 2 dimensional or even stilted if you will.
I loved the blurb and I wanted to like it I really did! The whole thing was just like a flat soda though and they never taste good!
Nova is hiding. We don’t know what from, only that she’s stumbled in to a supernatural gathering and been caught out. She’s spent years running. What I love most about this character is her absolute normalcy (aside from all the magic). She’s the character that instead of immediately running, when she decides there’s no other choice, she potters about running errands so she’s ready to go. I’m so used to characters dropping everything, without consideration, but I’m always a bit miffed they didn’t sort out any of the stuff they left behind. so this was a really pleasant change. There’s quite a lot of time lapses which aren’t my favourite thing normally but it works. It’s rather cheesy at times but, again, it (almost always) works. A fun read so I’m off to read book 2.
This is the first book I've read from this author. I was going through kidle unlimited and came across it. I can honestly say that from the first page I did not want to put it down. Nova the MC has a great strength about her and the four guys interact with her so well. I love the way it's written and personally I did not find any boring bits. It's been a little while since I've read a book that I've been so enthralled with (at least a month). Have now downloaded the second book. So excited to see where all this leads too. Thank you Sadie Anders for such a great book and I'd like to know where have you been hiding????
Nova is an interesting character that captured my attention. There is a lot to discover with her character and it seems this is just the beginning. So, yes this is a reverse harem story so you get the heat along with the drawl of characters connecting as the story takes form. Each of the men are intriging in their own right. A fae, an incubus/more, a shifter and last but not forgotten a vampire. Each is the head of a council and it looks like Nova is going to bring all kinds of good and bad things into their lives. The story moved fluently and was a great building block for what is to come. I really enjoyed everything about it and am looking forward to the next book.,
I liked Nova and her guys. Honestly, from the blurb I thought Nova was going to be new to the supernatural world. But she has some pretty strong powers and has been on the run and in hiding for a long. When she picks up a side job to help a friend, she gets exposed and things unravel from there. while I really liked all the characters, o thought Nova went from booed to run/can’t trust anyone to trusting and revealing everything pretty quickly. But the writing was good, I loved the characters, and I’m happy that book 2 is out soon because I want more :)
I wanted to like this and I really tried but it was so long winded and nothing ever happened. There was not enough intrigue to keep me interested in seeing it through to the end. I was skipping over whole chapters and the story still wasn’t going anywhere. Typically multiple POVs doesn’t bother me but in this it seemed to just drag everything out. It’s like the author needed to put in everyone’s perspectives about every event or thought before the story could move forward. It’s a decent premise, it just wasn’t for me.
I absolutely loved this book. It pulled me in from the very beginning and I was unable to put it down. I loved Nova and her personality. She definitely knows how to take care of herself without sacrificing the need to also need help. The guys are all fantastic in different areas. They definitely add to the story. It is extremely well written and developed. It has so much action, drama and a bit of suspense as we journey alongside of Nova and the guys. Then to have that cliffhanger, boy I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I was disappointed. I had high hope for this book, but the book ended up as blah to me. I just didn’t connect with it, the book was smooth if that makes sense. I kept thinking I can’t wait until this is over.
So like I said before, it was disappointing. I won’t be reading on to the second book. Maybe a different reader will find this book amazing to read, but not for me.
Good start to a series. It’s a quick and steamy read. Some of the steam is glossed over, but most is not. The story has a good speed-not too rushed and not too prolonged. The FMC is strong on her own, but admits to her weaknesses that makes the character believable and relatable. The guys do need a little more development, but this is just the beginning. Looks like I’m off to the next one!
I loved this book. Nova has started to sleep with the other paranormals but not at the same time. The ending of the book was spectacular and it was certainly a shock for Nova. Will she go through with it? What will happen to the others? Will they all share? It looks like we'll have to wait until the next one. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Story wise- I love it. The plot is definitely unique and full of promise. However, the suspense was never prolonged for either the attraction between her and the guys nor the plot twists. They just kind of happen. If there were some foreshadowing and gentle ease and then BAM, it would have his me more.
Sadie, thank you for an entertaining and awesome story. The way the characters have developed together is just right. Nova is a great MFC and is now just learning much more about her past. I hope to learn more about the men especially Bain. Look forward to reading the rest of the books, I already have them ! 😀
This is the first time that I have read anything by this author and I can honestly say that it will not be the last time. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and all its mysteries. I am truly excited for the next adventure! I would definitely recommend.
Nova’s instant attraction to all of the Council was both believable and electric. All of them seem to be enthralled by her. This was a very fast read because the story kept you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last page.
Nova doesn't remember her past and happens to be invited to bartend an invent where she runs into a fae prince, a vampire, a half-incubus, and a shifter. This is a reverse harem, but the sex scenes are scattered throughout the book and you definitely get a good dose of fantasy world and story instead of just sex.
the main female character has been on the run for a century but lacks the skill to make that possible. i get the author wanted her to need to depend on the men but all it did in my eyes is make it unbelievable esp since she’s supposed to be super powerful.
