From USA Today bestselling authors Gin Jones and Elizabeth Ashby comes a fall fiasco of epic proportions!
Quilt appraiser Keely Fairchild just wants to have a quiet little Thanksgiving dinner at home with her boyfriend, but as the guest list grows, so do the distractions from meal preparations. First she gets dragged into investigating the theft of miniature quilts that were supposed to be featured in the guild's entry in the Danger Cove Thanksgiving parade, and then she stumbles onto a bigger mystery: who killed a local quilter and what did her death have to do with a sampler quilt she'd made to depict her life's story?
Keely struggles to figure out which elements of the quilt are clues and which are red herrings, and uncovers that the dead quilter and her mechanic husband may not have been as innocent as they seemed. Did the husband kill his quilting wife, or could it have had something to do with a stalker, an angry customer, or even a best friend who might actually be a frenemy?
If Keely can't figure it out, her life—and death—may end up depicted in her own DEADLY THANKSGIVING SAMPLER.
Gin is a retired lawyer who specialized in ghost-writing for other lawyers. She prefers to write her own books, though, since she doesn't have to worry that her sense of humor might get her thrown into jail for contempt of court. In her spare time, Gin makes quilts, grows garlic, and advocates for patients with rare disorders.
Another great addition to the Danger Cove series. I love how there are mini-series within the Danger Cove stories. I really enjoy the way Ms. Jones and Ms. Ashby write. The storyline flows so nicely and holds your attention. This one has lots of twists and turns. I like the way the heroine is very organized and precise in her investigation. I like how there were many suspects and the way the list was narrowed down. It was a surprise ending for me, which is always a bonus. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes to read “clean” mysteries about small towns and close friendships. I was provided an advance copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an unbiased review.
Another great addition to this fabulous series of books! If it's a fun, entertaining read with not only wonderful characters but a plot and interactions that you can really get into, this is the book for you. I think the overall best thing about this series is that you can dive right in, without missing a beat, even if you haven't read any of the books before these. They are ALL wonderful as stand alones, so, START HERE! Attorney turned quilt appraiser Keely, and her hunky boyfriend Matt stumble over trouble (and a dead body) that clearly was not in the master plan! Add into the mix the other quirky, lovable characters/residents of Danger Cove, a plot that just won't quit, and all around what in and of itself is a busy holiday, and you have the perfect cozy mystery read! So, since there are no spoilers here, just go get this book now! You definitely won't be sorry, and you will certainly go back for more of the other amazing Danger Cove Mysteries!
I think Deadly Thanksgiving Sampler is my favorite of the Danger Cove Quilters series. When a member of the quilters' guild is murdered, Keely feels compelled to decode the autobiographical quilt that the victim had left with her in the midst of her ever growing Thanksgiving-for-two celebration. Hanging over her is the need to reveal her health to the handsome and caring Matt Viera so their relationship is open and honest and perhaps ready to progress. While Keely is not an overtly Warm and fuzzy kind of person, it is always obvious that both she and Matt are intensely caring as well as intelligent.
Keely used to be a lawyer, but due to her diagnosis of syncope she quit that job and no longer drives. If she gets too stressed she passes out. She is now a quilt appraiser. She is extremely worried that her boyfriend Matt will not accept her condition since she didn't tell him about it for a year since they have been dating. Good mystery with some other background stories going on before she figured out who the person is that stole the quilts and killed a quilter from the guild. There was a lot of emphasis on her condition in the story that was overstated otherwise the story was entertaining.
This was a story all about quilts, and Thanksgiving, and making a family out of whoever you have around you.
In this one, it’s a few days before the big day and Keely and Matt are planning a small Thanksgiving dinner, but Keely is already stressing out about it. There’s no table or room for four people. Then a member of the quilt guild is murdered and everyone expects her to figure out who the murderer is. By the time she does, they now have fourteen people at the dinner table and all is well, finally.
Keely just wants to have a quiet Thanksgiving holiday at home with her boyfriend. Due to all different reasons, her guest list keeps growing as does her stress level. Keely is concerned that all of the stress may cause her medical condition to flair up before she has a chance to tell her boyfriend about it. On top of this she is given a quilt the evening before the owner/creator is killed. Keely thinks that the answers lie within the quilt. She is determined to solve the murder, tell her boyfriend her secret and enjoy the holiday. This is a great series with a fun bunch of characters. Pick up a copy to see what happens.
Holidays can be stressful, but this Thanksgiving was a killer. Who knew organizing quilts to display for the Thanksgiving Day parade would end up in murder? Follow the twists and turns as a simple Thanksgiving dinner for 2 turns into a meal for 12 while trying to solve the murder of one of the quilters. A private person or one with secrets that they won't tell. All this leads to a very exciting reveal of the murderer yet still ends with a very pleasant Thanksgiving dinner among friends.
I love these Danger Cove stories. They are clean mysteries set in a small town with close friends and extended family. I did not figure this one out - which is always fun. The story flows nicely with almost too many suspects as the heroine also deals with her increasing anxiety about her ever expanding guest list for Thanksgiving dinner. I get totally wrapped up in these Danger Cove books.
This is a great book with a fun story and well developed characters. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put the book down until the end. I can’t wait to read then next book by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Each quilting square is sewn in a pattern that has its own name, history, and meaning—most often more than one name and meaning. When a talented quilter dies, a quilt appraiser must decode the artist’s final masterpiece to unravel both the motive and whether the death was suicide or murder.
I thought that the mystery arc of this story was nicely paced. I liked the characters enough to try another installment of the series, especially if I find a sale as good as the Kindle + Audible combination that I snagged for this one. Don't overlook the author bios. There is a reveal there, too.
She depicted her life in a quilt and then she was murdered. Now a quilt appraiser is trying to decode her sampler to solve her murder. Quirky characters with mystery and romance. Another great story in this series. Wholeheartedly recommend.
Oh the twists & turns in this story! So much fun too! The craziness that Keeley encounters on a daily basis is incredible. But makes for an interesting book!
Kept you guessing about the killer til the reveal. Good development of Danger Cove characters. Good stand alone story line but a great addition to the series.
Who stole the quilts and why??? Quilts can really be used to tell a story!!! AND who killed Brooke and why??? I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Enjoyable Thanksgiving cozy. I had not read any of the previous quilting mysteries in the Danger Cove series, but I did not feel that I missed out on a back story.
