Washington was not so Perfect.

I love these Captivating History books, short, sweet and full of facts.

This one was thoroughly enjoyable. I knew nothing about this 7 year war and was glad to read up on it. It seems like George Washington was not as perfect as history books would tell. The English didn't seem to want to evict the French, and it seemed that their efforts were not very impressive.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it very much

Chronologically following the events of the war, this title lightly touches on the highlights of battles and the escalation of the entire war. It includes probably political and cultural influences on the three key players: England, France, and the various indigenous nations. The recruitment, interplay, and decisions of this third population offered new insight, to me, regarding their roles in victories and defeats by actions and inactions.

The author spends a significant portion of each chapter integrating important interactions of the "Indian" groups, as well as, the actions of key figures who play roles in events after the war, like George Washington and George Rogers Clark. Their experiences in this war strong influenced their personalities and actions for years to come.

I wish I could rate it 3 1/2 *s because the style was breezy and engaging without bogging down in minutia. Painting broad pictures allowing the reader a sense of the war while identifying signposts for further investigation if the reader wants more details.

Much better than a textbook but still a lot of facts. However, it's told in story form so it kept my attention much easier. I did get lost sometimes because of all the different people. It pulled me in several times because of all the action and also the stupidity of both sides at times. Overall, well done, informative, and worth the read!

British. French, and Native American Conflict

I enjoyed a war in which British and French soldiers relied on savage Indian allies to win key land fort battles. Their goals greatly conflicted with one another.
