No good deed goes unpunished. A snowy bit of assistance links her to a blood alpha and sends her into a world she never asked for.
Coralynn does just enough to get by. There is no point in trying harder; the world always pulls her down. She works at a restaurant in a ridiculous outfit and is ordered to rescue a limo and help some wealthy investors get to their establishment. It is the moment that Coralynn’s life skids sideways. Meeting a blood alpha in the snow was surprising. Having him show up at her home was astonishing. Feeling her body changing to accommodate him is disturbing. She becomes his lover, shares his bed, and starts to believe that her life might stay bright, and then, an attack, injuries, and a long recovery time with the book club’s caretakers makes her re-evaluate her place in the world and how lonely life was when the trust was brutally destroyed.
Viola, i do not know what is going on in your life right now, that's not my business. What i DO care about is how it affects your books. The first half is textbook Miss Low-to-no-self-esteem meets Alpha Full-of-Himself, and he eats her up like a candy bar. Then he (apparently) tosses her aside like a kleenex, and she has to pluckily rebuild her life. But Wait, it was all a Terrible Mistake, so all is Forgiven, and honey, can we get a puppy? Oh, and some extra lovers would be cool.
Karo (Coralynn) Legthorpe , is a beta who has spent the last few years drifting. Everything changes when she catches the eye of Blood Alpha in Koran. She agrees to 6 months, and quickly falls for him. Then she is attacked by a member of his blood court and almost dies. Devastated, Karo is found by Luna, and put in the care of two Alpha's, twins Hector a physio and his sister Helen a vet who rescues dogs. They make no demands on her other than companionship and helping her get well. When Karo learns the truth of the attack she has to confront her former Alpha. It hurts her heart to leave Hector and Helen and her dog Sika behind. Forgiveness, reconciliation, and understanding gives Karo the three people and dog she loves most. Polyandry, open relationship, MF, FF, FFM paranormal romance. Looking forward to the next book club girl to find her Alpha. Hopefully Karo's sister gets a story.
Great story, a few issues with the pacing and the hard cuts between chapters/scenes.
The only thing truly annoying was bratty Andrea, who started out nice a book ago, but ends up childish, entitled and beyond gropey… especially given that she’s around women who have been abused. Karo does tell her off for it, but she isn’t sorry at all. She runs to hug Karo, even though she knows she will bruise. Everyone is cautious, but she just doesn’t care. She never asks for permission, she just lowkey assaults her “friends” and it’s ok, because she’s a cute and cuddly omega. Making me switch to #teambeta.
I really like this series. The world Ms Grace has built is wonderful. The stories are interconnected and I can hardly wait for the next book. Luna’s women are slowly making a place for themselves in the world of the alphas.
Twists and turns make this an interesting story, and encourage me to jump directly into the next. Carolyn gets help from the book club we already know to join Viola's Omegaverse.
