I was a good girl once. But bad b*tches get shit done.
My list is finished. Every name has been crossed off. I should be sipping cocktails on a beach somewhere, breathing easy for the first time in years.
But I’m not.
Because that asshole Ivan St. James refused to stay at the bottom of the river where Knox put him.
Because someone dragged his body up from the depths and laid it out as a very public, very gruesome warning.
Because I swear it was Hannah’s eyes I saw behind that mask.
Nothing makes sense anymore, and if I thought I might find some peace in knowing that the men who hurt us are dead, I was wrong.
The game isn’t over yet. The original deal I struck with the Kings of Chaos is null and void, and despite my plan to walk away from them when this was all done, there’s no way I can do that now.
Our fates are entwined, at least until we sort out this mess.
Honestly, I don’t know how to feel about that. Because as much as I refuse to let my walls down for anyone, I’m starting to think these four brutal, dangerous men…
Might be the only ones I can trust.
Queen of Anarchy is a full length mafia/gang new adult romance featuring a slightly psycho heroine and four even more psychotic men. This book contains dark themes, so please read at your own discretion. It is book 2 of 4.
Eva Ashwood has been a reader her whole life and a writer for several years. She loves telling stories of alpha males and the fierce women who bring them to their knees.
She's a sucker for reverse harem, bully romance, enemies to lovers, heroes who redeem themselves, and all the drama and passion of new adult love.
I finished this book with tears in my eyes while taking deep breaths. Dramatic, maybe?! But I'm in my feelings atm so don't judge me. Because wow, I knew I had to prepare myself for what would happen. My anxiety was through the roof. In the end my heart shattered into pieces. I just sat there staring at nothing in shock and hurt.
This books picks up where we left off in part one. It is nonstop action, angst, steam and more. River and the guys show so much growth in this book. I'm rooting for them so much but their world doesn't make it easy.
I want, no need more. I wasn't ready for it to end, not like this. All.The.Feels. Ughhh. 🥺🙌
Genre: Contemporary reverse harem Series: Yes. (Book 2 in Dirty Broken Savages series, Kings of Chaos is book 1.) Heat: High heat. It has graphic sexual content with mf, mfm, and mfmmm encounters. Triggers: On-page violence, death, and torture. Allusions to past abuse (physical and sexual) and torture. Kink: On-page situations that involve breath play, knife pay, blood play, light bondage and praise. Cliffhanger: Yes.
So, I wasn’t a huge fan of how book 1 ended. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the book, and I was still looking forward to this book, but I felt a little, I dunno, let down by the ending? I think I just saw some of that ending happening, so I wasn’t surprised. Maybe it seemed a little cliché to me? Whatever it was, I found that I just didn't love it.
LOL…Ashwood must have read my mind or something, because DDDDAAAMMMMNNNNN! Aside from the fact that this book was overall amazing, the freaking ending was NOT something I saw coming, and I was totally blindsided by it. Seriously, I had this whole other scenario going on in my mind of how I thought things were going to go down…yeah, totally didn't happen like I thought!
So, we learn a lot more about the boys; Priest, Knox, Ash, and Gage, as well as our girl River. I liked the growth that I saw happen with River in this one, and I definitely liked the growth I saw between her and the boys!
Priest is my favorite, but Knox is just barely behind him. I do like Gage and Ash, but the psychos (think Diesel from Den of Vipers) and the quiet, standoffish ones (think Oscar from the Havoc Boys) always tug a little extra on my heart strings.
This one felt a little darker to me than the first one, but I didn't have any problems reading it. I have DNF'd books before because the content was just too dark for me, but nothing in this one bothered me too terribly.
Overall, I highly recommend this series to those that like darker contemporary rh reads with a lot of spice and violence mixed in.
"He means something to me", I say louder this time. "He does. You all do." "Good." Gage bites out the word and I nearly shiver from how deep his voice is. "Because its too late for us. Do you understand that? You're right that this was supposed to be nothing, but you're fucking kidding yourself if you think that's all it is now."
In this second book of the Dirty Broken Savages, River has discovered the person she's loved most in the world is alive. She and her guys are going to do whatever they can to help her. I enjoyed this book so much because everyone is past the "do we like each other or not" stage. Spoiler alert... they DO! Now we see them getting closer. Its sweet because not one of them have had the best lives growing up and no one has actually been in love. Except for Priest but his demons are worse bc of it. In fact, I fell in love with him letting River into his heart. Ash is still my favorite though! In fact, the part in the beginning when River hears another girl in Ash's room was sooo good! Anyway, onto book three...
“What the fuck is this about then?” “She doesn’t get to touch what’s mine!”
Here's my cast, RIVER,
GAGE,
KNOX,
ASH (My favorite guy! 💜)
PRIEST,
**I know not everyone loves when people do a cast of characters but I love them!!
"I'm not letting you go. I'm not letting them take you. Not going to let anyone fucking hurt you. I'll keep you locked away if I have to, but I'm not losing you."
This was definitely a step up after the first book. The plotline finally picks up, there was more build-up, storytelling, depth in the character's past and personality. The chemistry definitely got better other than just sex.
The focus of the second book was definitely towards the male character's storyline. Their past, their emotions and them figuring out their relationship and chemistry with River. I can tell you who is my favourite, I don't want to be biassed but I honestly love Priest and Knox so much. They're my top favourite. They are the sweetest but they are also the craziest.
The action pack storyline we go through just gets bigger this time around. That ending was such a cliffhanger, I'm nervous yet excited to see what's next. I feel like River hasn't shown her true potential of what she can really do, which I am ready to see her character get more badass after what happened at the end.
"Maybe it's not a bad thing if we're getting close. You could use some people on your side. I don't trust many people, but I have three guys that I care about and trust without question. Three men I love like brothers. Who do you have?"
Queen of Anarchy is the second installment with in the Dirty Broken Savages series. This definitely dives in where the first book left off. I was pretty curious if the person River thought she saw was actually her sister. Mostly because we all thought she was dead based on the flashbacks. So, when that little secret came out to play, I just knew that I needed all the answers.
Diving into this one, I honestly didn't expect more secrets to come out. I may or may not have screamed when her sister was revealed. Then to find out what actually went down just made me mad. I mean, she knew that her sister didn't know but didn't try to reach out to her? Then there's the fact that she lives with that sleazy asshole and has a kid with him? Oh man, my head and heart were hurting.
As for River? Well, I feel like her and the guys are constantly putting out fires. Whether it's someone trying to kill them or trying to force them into a certain situation. I wasn't a fan of Knox potentially being married to Natalie one bit. Especially after we saw her getting it on with her brother - So gross.
In the end, I was not prepared for that ending. Holy crap. What am I supposed to do now with my life? Twiddle thumbs? No, I need all the revenge I can get. Then I need some sexy healing time with the guys. Seriously, my mind is on fire right now.
One single solitary star because I could not for the life of me see where the romance/emotions were coming from. River went from pain in the ass > sexual partner > most important person ever with zero transition. Now, I know that this is meant to be a romance. I know it is supposed to be smutty. I get that. I can appreciate that. However let's not jump straight into 'She's everything and we must protect her at all costs' and 'They're all mine and I'm all possessive' when there is really no foundation for it. Y'all wanna have sex and snipe at each other, fine. Go for it. But where are all the 'feelings' coming from?? Also, River's hypocrisy annoyed me, mostly with Ash. Don't act like you had your feelings all hurt when you deliberately hurt and rejected him. She had zero right to be jealous when he brought another girl home. In fact, River annoyed me so much that I really didn't care that her sister was alive. Harsh but true. It was incredibly unbelievable to me that those guys would risk their whole business to save her sister when just weeks ago they couldn't stand her. Just no.
I liked the story line and wanted to find out what happens but the authors writing style was getting on my last nerve. It was that way in the first book but I figured I could get through it again. Nope. Not this time. She repeats the same thing over and over again for like 4 paragraphs straight and then randomly repeats things that were revealed about a character like 10 chapters ago like it's something new about them again...I couldn't deal with it anymore
4.3 stars. First off. Fuck that cliffhanger. That was just fucking heartbreaking.
Second. The beginning of this book was pretty iffy for me. Ash was SO close to doing something that would’ve ruined his character for me completely. I did NOT enjoy that at all. But. I did enjoy the after math.
Fuck. This book was a goddamn rollercoaster of emotions for me. *sigh* I’m gonna go to the next now and hope nothing else gets so totally and completely fucked.
There was so much more plot than smut in this one!! It definitely wasn’t lacking in the sex department but I felt like the storyline was stronger in this than the first.
I love the connection between characters and it creates such a better understanding of each one. You get to know all 5 MC on such a deeper level. Plus the action is more than I thought it would be based on the first book.
That cliffhanger is cray and im so glad I don’t have to wait to get into the next one!
Kings of Chaos was a 3* for me and perhaps it was my mindset when I read it. It wasn't bad, but I was a bit put-off by River's character and knew that the following books can either improve with her character evolving or I'd give up on the series. Reign of Wrath's cover reveal made me want to return to this series (yes, a hot cover will grab my interest) and I am almost perplexed by the changes in here.
I almost couldn't believe this was the same set of characters; there was a lot of crumbling of walls, if you will. In a way, it seemed a bit quick, but the story was fast-paced and so overall, it made sense. What I absolutely loved and appreciated, was River's growth and owning up to certain situations (don't want to give anything away). All of the Hs are solid and all-in to the relationship, which is great.
I've read comments of how Reign of Wrath left some in tears and I already got close to it here, especially the end, so I'm a bit wary of moving forward. But this time, it's in a good way rather than not enjoying the story.
I don't have any reservations of recommending this series now as I've really enjoyed this one.
**Possible Spoilers (if you've not read book 1)** If I thought the end of the last book was easy, this one was like a punch to the face. While the last name on River's list has now been crossed off, the tables have fully turned when her final enemy's body reappears at a gala they are attending. The list of suspects is small but River will not give up until she figures out who is messing with her and why. The relationship between the group is further solidified when River is essentially forced to declare her feelings and if there is one thing this girl does NOT do it's share feelings. It doesn't help matters that her life if blowing up in her face and she's still not sure if she saw her sister or not, she's supposed to be dead having been killed in front of River. Then again with even a sliver of a chance, River will not give up until she has answers even if it puts her own life on the line. Luckily she does get some answers in time and limited peace only to have everything blow up on her in the end. I'm dying not knowing what's next and if a certain character is truly dead. I need answers though and I hope River will be able to take a step back before diving back in with death in her eyes. I imagine the guys will do their best to keep her in line and stop her from being killed but time will tell.
*** i really want to give this book way more than 5 stars***
Queen of Anarchy more so than the first book tugs at your heartstrings and things that you thought were true get turned on there head. River (FMC) and the guys - Knox, Gage, Ash and Priest get a lot closer in this book. With more about their backgrounds coming to light as well as trying to find out what had happened at the Gala and by whom. The plot twists were outstanding as was this book. It completely drew me in and i couldnt put it down from start to finish. Plenty of action, lots of steam and a few tears too. So good!
Fuck, fuck, fuck, i was going to go to sleep after finishing this book but now how can I after THAT fucking ending?!? I'm so glad ARC bananza is tomorrow because I have a feeling book three is going to obliterate my heart and mind. Fuuuuccckkk.
I don't even have a favorite out of the Harem anymore. I love then all to pieces. River is a lucky bitch😘😘😘😘😘
Wow! Eva has only gone and done it again by hanging us over the edge with that ending. My heart was in my mouth the whole time in that last few chapters. This book will give you all the feels and that sex scenes, are hot AF! If you like a good RH, you need to read this. I just love this series so much and the characters within it. I can’t wait for more!
I enjoyed this book a lot more I like seeing more into everyone's past and what happened with Hannah was both heartwarming and heart breaking. I don't understand how they knew it was River as she definitely seemed to tie up all the loose ends in the first book. Also what in the game of thrones is wrong with Julian
I Give this Book a 4.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4. Rating list may be a little high and low on fluctuations, but honestly the story line deserves the 4.5. River is a really enjoyable lead character, she’s strong and confident knowing she can take care of herself & she’s learning that she can rely on her guys. There were frustrating moments with her but at least she owns it 😆
HEA(?): Not Yet :) Cliffhanger(?): Yes! That was a Heartbreaking Cliffhanger!
Relationship Type: RH> Reverse Harem: MFMMM. I love all the guys!! 😍 M/M(?): No. Romance: 3.5/5 Heat: 3.5/5, it’s not the sole focus at the moment but it’s there and it’s good! Pacing: Very Good, Mid. Drama: 4.5/5 Suspense: 4.5/5
I think I just gotta get out of the mafia reverse harem corner because they always be doing weird shit and for what?
I had this issue with the first book but I feel like there were way too many guys here. It was 4 but it felt like she only really cared about 1 or 2 AT MOST and the rest were just there. Literally the entire personality of one of the guys was that he didn't speak much so why... have him...?
Then we get into knife / bloodplay and I am yet asking for therapy for myself & these characters. The girl is just like, into cutting herself for ✨pleasure✨ and it was WEIRD. Then of course they do knife shit TOGETHER (only the most psycho guy tho) and I'm so tired. Apparently asking for no weird knife and blood shit in my mafia reverse harems is too much to ask!!
I'm doing one review for all four books. It's the only way not to blow plot points and give away spoilers. This is a dark, revenge themed, organized crime, reverse harem. If you have a trigger, it's probably in this series. If it's not in book one, it will show up later. Read the warnings and heed them.
Having said that, this is an awesome series. It has been described as Den Of Vipers meets Mafia and sleeps with your favorite Bully/Academy. It is that and so much more. This series is four books long so we really get to know each of the characters well. All the nuances of their personalities, fears, old hurts, loves, etc. This was a pleasure because Ms. Ashwood weaves a marvelous tale that is driven not only by action and sex but by the wonderful, strong, female character and her four man harem.
River is on a quest for vengeance. The one thing I really enjoyed about her was that no matter what else was going on, she never lost sight of goal - revenge. So many times you read a novel and once a MC enters the story, the FC turns to him to 'handle' her problem. There's nothing wrong with leaning on each other or becoming a stronger unit. I just hate it when you establish a kicka$$ heroine, make the hero fall for her because of those qualities, and then change her to a damsel in distress. Did the sex suck out her personality? I hope it was really good. Not our girl River. She's an unapologetic Alpha. Her own A-Team. (Look that up kids, TV not the movie)
Then we have Gage, Knox, Ash, and Priest. Who is my favorite? Depends on the hour. They are all amazing. Let me just give you a quote. "I don’t think there’s a single one of the Kings who has any doubts about how much I want them at this point. They’ve all got me fucking di@kmatized, and they have since long before I was willing to admit it." - River Gage is the serious planner. The leader. Knox is the slightly deranged killer. The enforcer. Ash is the jovial charmer. The conman. Priest is the damaged thinker. The technician.
This book is rife with twists and turns. Each one ends on an Oh My God Moment. Thankfully, this series was finished before I started reading it because it would have driven me crazy to wait for the next book. The endings and investments in the characters are just that good. Loved them.
*Steam for book one was a 4/5, for the rest of the books 5/5

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future. 4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it. 3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories. 2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort. 1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.
This is the second book in this series and I must say it was way better then the first. I mean river finally began to open up to these 4 hot men who are just as obsessed with her Like she is them and when she finally realizes how much they care about her and how far they will go for her she finally lets them all in if you get my drift. This book probably has the hottest spicy scene that I have ever read let’s just say Train And leave it at that. Lots of suspense twist and turns I can’t wait to read book 3.
Loved this book just a much as the first, the way the relationship between them all had grown had me swooning Knox is my favourite king at the moment, he is psychotic but loveable (my favourite type of man in a book) the phrase , kill for you, live for you die for you will forever be my favourite and most heart breaking phrase I have read in a book so far, because of what it means to River and Hannah and the ending had me crying 😭, jumping straight into book 3 I can’t wait to see what happens to River and her men
The second book in the Dirty Broken Savages series started slow, and I struggled to continue in the first third. However, past the halfway point and the book began to pick up. The plot twist with the (SPOILER) MC’s sister being alive was expected, however the final 10% of the book with the wedding scene was fantastic. I enjoyed the developing relationship between the FMC and the MMCs and felt like the pace was set well
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I started to seriously dislike the FMC a bit over half way through. She appears to forget some very important facts like a complete moron, makes seriously important decisions on other people’s behalf without caring how they’d feel about it, and whines in her head for nearly a whole chapter that I had to skip over because it was so pathetic. I gave up after that.
About the Book: River’s sister is alive. Alive and part of that dark world that held them captive for so long, torturing, abusing them. The world River tried to protect her from. So this time she’s determined to save her sister once and for all. After all, she’s not alone now. She has the Kings of Chaos who, like her, are ready to kill for those they consider their family.
My Opinion: I wish crime books like this were available more commonly in non-erotic genre too, so there’d be less skimming of sappy or otherwise nasty content. Additionally, I loathe the trope of the aggressive protector. Just because you were scared for someone, doesn’t mean you can take that worry, turn it into fury, and take it out on them now. So why am I reading this? Well, as I said, as a crime book it’s written pretty well, it’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s thought out. Characters are well developed too, each has their own backstory, personality. And then there’s the chosen family bonds that I only ever find in crime books too. In this case here it grew into polyamory which I should’ve realized would happen…
Much like book one I was completely engrossed in the story from start to finish. We started getting to know the characters a bit more and there were a few more twists and turns. There is also a roller coaster of emotions you will go through reading the book.
We finally started to learn more about our guys and what made them the way that they are. As they were revealed you could see the shift in the dynamics of the relationships between them and River. I loved seeing their relationship change from the first book into this book.
While there were not as many twists as book one this book definitely played with your emotions much more. From some events during the book to learning about their pasts and then finally the cliffhanger/emotional torment we saw, the author had you constantly on the edge of your seat.
It was easy to become lost in these pages and although this book was a bit slower action-wise compared to book one, it was faster in regards to the relationship and with getting to know the characters more.
After that very emotional ending I hope book 3 will help me recover.
There are some series where the first book is by far the worst. Sometimes my heart hurts when I hear someone say they didn’t continue with a series because they didn’t like the first book when I know all of their issues with that book are solved later. If an author is going to show lots of growth, then that character has to start out at a place that desperately needs change. Sarah J Maas books are a prime example of this. In the first book, MC’s are nothing like the strong heroines they are in the final books. This is how this series has played out as well. All of the problems that I had in book one were fixed in book two. River showed massive amounts of growth. You can see how she is slowly working through her issues of trusting others and allowing herself to have relationships. I am so glad that I continued with this series.
