The Leaping Hare Wellness Almanac was one of those books I carried with me throughout the year, not just physically but emotionally too. I read each chapter in its designated month, the way it was meant to be read, and I have to admit, so many of the exercises felt like they were quietly healing parts of me or gently calming my mind when I needed it most. This isn’t a book you rush through. It’s slow, intentional, and deeply comforting, like wrapping yourself in a blanket on a rainy day with a cup of something warm in your hands. The writing follows the rhythm of the seasons, reminding you that rest, reflection, growth, and stillness all have their place. In a world that constantly pushes us to go faster, do more, and be productive at all costs, this book feels like a soft but firm invitation to slow down. What I loved most is how it encourages you to truly notice each season, to appreciate its beauty instead of rushing toward the next one. It helped me feel more grounded, more present, and more in tune with myself and the natural cycles around me. This is the kind of book you come back to, year after year, whenever you need a moment of calm, reassurance, and gentle guidance.
Leaping Hare Press’ “The Wellness Almanac” offers meditative and reflexive activities that contribute to a holistic approach to wellness. Romanian-born Raluca Spatacean exquisitely illustrates the pages of the guidebook that offers a healing balm to anyone who is looking for respite and re-centering amid the trials of everyday life. The activities described in the book are designed to follow the seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall, offering a guide for hands-on rituals and mindful reflections to promote daily spiritual practices. For each month, affirmations, quotations, and inspiring passages about gratitude, being in the present moment, and the certainty of change underscore the importance of self-awareness and self-care. Movement prompts include instruction for light exercises, yoga positions, nutrition, craft, and gardening projects.
The imagery in the book highlights female bodies, revealing the target demographic for the book. This is not surprising, since the wellness industry is primarily geared toward women. The practices outlined in the book can be helpful for anyone, regardless of gender identity. As a woman of color, I appreciated the diversity of women depicted in the book: different body shapes, hair styles and textures, and facial features are well-represented. “The Wellness Almanac” would make a great gift for the woman who is giving her all every day, and need the gentle reminder to pause, remember her innate worth and potential, and do something nourishing for her soul.
It's a huge book with a lovely cover. The whole thing looks peaceful, spiritual and full of mindful insights. It includes nature, reflection, movement (such as yoga poses and sequences - I'm a huge fan of yoga), gratitude, crafts, journalling, meditation, star-gazing, recipes, visualisation and rituals. It would take ages to read the whole book so you can dip in and out or read month by month. There's even a section on making haikus (short poems which follow a particular structure). A lot is devoted to mindfulness.
November - the month we are in right now, which also happens to be my birthday month, is devoted to 'A time to reflect. Crafting, handwork and the art of slow stitch remind us to appreciate the meditative nature of doing.' This month's yoga sequence is designed to balance your chakras. There are chapters on mindful walking, meditation, mindful breathing and building inner strength. The illustrations are beautiful.
Even if this book is not for you, it would make a lovely Christmas present for a friend or relative who loves this kind of thing.
This Wellness Almanac is presented as a year-long guide to create positive spiritual habits. The book is beautifully illustrated and broken into seasons, presenting a number of ways within each season and then in turn by month to embrace or explore practices for living more mindfully.
The practices are taken from numerous Leaping Hare books, including the mindfulness series, of which I have read many and love. Within this almanac however the mixture felt a bit confused to me. There were pages on knitting, stargazing, yoga, gardening, making hot chocolate, bird seed bombs, sewing for example.
I think as a wellness almanac I was anticipating a book that had a different flow and perhaps one that was easier to embrace one day or week at a time. Whilst this was lovely to dip in and out of it is not a book I would chose to utilise as a wellness guide as the themes were so divergent and not necessarily practice I would embrace as a new spiritual practice.
Thank you Leaping Hare Press and NetGalley do this ARC in return for my honest review.
The Leaping Hare Wellness Almanac seems like the perfect guide for beginners or anyone curious about the idea of “wellness”. This almanac is designed to follow the changing months and seasons. Within each months there are prompts on different wellness topics such as reflection, journaling, gratitude, different ideas for movements, crafts, and even wholesome recipes. The beginning of each season starts with a recommended playlist and affirmations to really align oneself with the new season. There’s a brief description at the beginning of the book on who someone can use it, but I think the most important point is that there is no wrong way to use it. My only issue with this is that I wish there were enough prompts for each day of the month. That way someone could truly read something new every day for a whole year. Pretty much every month has 13 prompts so I suppose one for every other day, but that’s really my only issue.
I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher. This almanac is divided by the months with each month having information/sections on mindful insight, positive action or exercise, crafting, connecting to nature, and self-love. In the different sections, there are various prompts to meditate on, journal on, or act on. The book also includes many recipes. The pace of the book is meant to be slow and easy so that you can slowly build habits. There are no specific dates, just time ranges so there is no feeling of pressure. The different activities are easy to do and build on. This also feels like a book that you can reuse year after year. I liked this book so much that I plan on purchasing a physical copy.
One day I was walking down with hands upon my hips, left-right, left-right... when this book caught my attention on the new reads table.
Cute.
Each month of the year is color coded. The author crafted well thought material to sooth the mind and the body, as each month has its own yoga pose. Obviously, each month starts with the spiritual meaning and how certain activities and ways of thinking guide you to a better inner-self living.
Yes it's girly. Yes it's sorta chick-lit. Yes, it helps anybody who believes the inner ecosystem has no gender... and,
yes, the illustrations suck big time. Geez. Terribly cis-gender old school American female drawings. But I like the book. ALl things considered.
This is a lovely book - as the title indicates, very much in the fashion of the old almanacs, with a wealth of wellness tips for each month, from a few yoga poses, to recipes, to - yes - how to make your own clay. The presentation and pictures are beautiful, it’s hard to imagine that just looking at it would fail to soothe even the most wound-up woman. The audience targeted is clearly women, which is in fact a bit of a shame - men surely would also benefit from the wealth of ideas on offer. There is nothing really ground-breaking there, but the packaging is very pleasant. It’s unclear why the publication date is 3 January - it would make a great Christmas present.
This is a very nicely designed book. It is outlined by the months in the year, and during each the author discusses the following topics: 1. Mindful insight for inner understanding, 2. Positive action, 3. Handwork, 4. A nature-connection, and 5. Self-love.
There are some delicious recipes, and there are some projects, such as making air drying clay, exercises, there are others areas discussed.
I truly love the various items discussed for each month on various subjects. This guide is something that can be used as a monthly guide on your journey of self development. I highly recommend it for anyone desiring to practice self love.
I have read this book through Netgalley. This almanac does exactly what is says in the description embraces mindfulness, self-love and holistic health in this stunning wellness almanac that will lift your heart, mind, body and soul. This is a book you just read through the year and pick whenever you want to meditate to connect with yourself or with the nature. It is full of self help and yoga poses and sequencing. I loved especially the illustrations of this book. This is the type of book I would buy just to keep in my library and come back from time to time just to admire the pictures, to read motivational sentences or do different crafts.
The Leaping Hare Wellness Almanac was honestly a pleasure to review. The graphics were beautiful and calming. The book is well laid out with each month broken down into "reflection, movement, gratitude, nature, journaling, rituals, craft, recipe, meditation, affirmations, visualisation, stargazing...and more.." There are plenty of activities (yoga poses, nature walks, breathing exercises, journaling prompts, recipes, crafts etc.) that help keep you engaged throughout the months. This would honestly make such a lovely gift! 👍🏻👍🏻
The layout is beautiful with wonderful, very appealing illustrations with very worthwhile guidance.
I really, really loved this book; good for you and extremely do-able ❤️
I’m recommending this one as a welcome addition to your bedside table or desk and it’s an excellent source of positivity for teens as well. I’m planning on getting a physical copy of this one for myself.

This is a compendium of mindfulness, meditation, yoga, crafts, journaling, communing with nature, and much more. The various exercises are broken down into seasons and months, but you could easily just open the book up randomly each day and find something creative, useful, and stimulating (or relaxing) to do!
This is going on my list of books to buy as gifts for others!
Wonderful. The illustrations in this book are absolutely beautiful. So complementary to the text and tone. There's a really wonderful feeling of calm and ease in this book.
Stargazing, meditation, gratitude, playlists.. this book is everything. I love it. I need to find a copy for my home. Absolutely gorgeous ✨

It's a something for everyone kind of book, for each month it gives you little activities to try and bits of information (which are really good) so you can explore everything and see what you like. I really enjoyed the mini playlist for each season and the little snippets of yoga to try.
A fun and easy-to-read book that helps you make your life easier and think positively in a way that is understandable to everyone with short and simple guidelines. I guarantee that you will definitely learn something new and enjoy the beautiful illustrations.
Yoga, meditation... there is something for everyone in this book. I really enjoyed reading it. I thought it flowed well and had a lot to offer with valuable insight.
Gives you ideas throughout the year for maintaining calming habits acording to season. There are a few things that I dont see myself doing, but in general the idea is good.
The Leaping Hare Wellness Almanac is my favorite self-help book of the year. The stunning visuals accompanied by the uplifting seasonal affirmations has brightened up my mornings. This book promotes mindfulness in such a beautiful way.
Besides the positive messages, there’s also a ton of mindful hobby ideas such as meditation, baking, and crafting. If I could sum this book up in one word, it would be hygge. It has such a cozy, simple, and positive energy to it. Thank you to NetGalley and Leaping Hare Press for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
