I don’t mind a few editing issues, (editors can be expensive) but this book had a ton of errors that were very distracting. The mistakes took me out of the reading experience.

I adored the settings and the atmosphere the author's create on each book of this series cause this legit feel like a fairy tale.
Although the characterization still a bit lacking they are likeable enough to me.
It was an okay story but i still need more from this.

It started really cute but turned painfully cringy.
Right after he gave birth, their banter was so embarrassing.

This was ok, but I didn’t feel it had much of a plot.

2.5 ⭐️

This is in such desperate need of an editor. The gist of the story would be good but the writing hasn’t had any proofing at all. Big shame. I hate being negative in a review but this was a let down.

Lone(ly) Omega

This first book in Eva Lyra's Omegaverse Fairytales series was great. It was a rewriting of the Little Red Riding Hood tale. It was quite entertaining. It's always interesting to see how an author handles a classic. It was a sweet story with just the right amount of angst.
Because he was an Omega alone who had been raised by his grandfather whose priorities had been teaching him to survive, not the birds and the bees, there was a great deal Red did not know: about being an Omega, shifters, mating, and pregnancy.

Starting with this premise the author spun a creative yarn with likeable characters and the right amount of conflict to keep the tension and uncertainty of what was going to happen just out of the readers grasp. It had the right amount of shifter lore and conflicts with Humans to keep the story moving right along. I am glad this is the first in a series which means I have more to look forward to and enjoy.

Don't think this story was all frivolity rest assured there were some very passionate moments between the Human and the Wolf shifter. You are most certainly reading a mpreg story including heats, unexpected pregnancy, and childbirth. There's love and laughter, pain and sorrow, and secrets only ever dreamt about. This novella does have a HEA. A wonderful story to read on Valentine's Day❤.

𝗠𝗖𝘀: Red + Fen
𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀, 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗙𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘆, 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘁. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲.

The premise on this one was spot on to what I enjoy: red riding hood retelling with mpreg and Omegaverse. I figured I’d be swept away for a couple of hours.

But I struggled with this one. The editing was nonexistent and the storyline lacked depth. The world building could have been so good but it wasn’t. I’ve read good novellas. I’ve read five star novellas. It’s more than possible to establish a world and create depth. Unfortunately, this one didn’t do either.

It was just okay. A lot more drama than it needed to be and the ending was quite sweet but that’s about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ To short to regret reading it lol

"The Alpha Wolf’s Baby" received THREE stars.

Definitely could’ve used a copy edit or two, but it was a really good story. I liked the characters and wished it had been longer.

The novel gained *stars* for these items:

* gained for: "The book caught my interest in the first five pages."

* gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."

*gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more!"

The novel failed to gain stars for this item:

NO STAR gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story."

NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author. I will automatically try anything she/he/they writes."

This mpreg version of Little Red Riding Hood is sweet. The story is well thought out. The characters are appealing. The editing, however. Non-existent. Wrong names inserted in conversations. Paragraphs that have quotation marks around them that aren't conversations. Arghh.
It takes you a little out of the story to have to mentally correct these mistakes. But the storyline is good enough that this can be ignored. Mostly.
I think Eva Lyra will have a long and satisfying career. Once she meets an editor. The story itself warrants the four stars.

I found this book to be a very pleasurable and delightful read. I enjoyed Red and Fen as a couple, however, I wish that they could have spent more time together (bonding and learning more about one another) in the beginning. Bert was an annoying character at first but later he had opened up and redeemed himself to Red and Fen. The writing was well done and the pace was smooth with a wonderful ending. This was quite entertaining with lots of family, friendships, and love.

Decent retelling

This is a decent Little Red Riding Hood retelling. Red is sweet omega but naive about a lot of things. His best friend helps him a lot and tells him stories about wolf shifters. Wolf shifter Fen followed Red's scent through the woods that lead to an intense encounter. I liked that it was a cranky old protector of the woods instead of a grandma in the woods. Overall a sweet story with a few secrets and surprises sprinkled throughout.

Fated mates

Really sweet fated mates romance.
Red is a sweet, shy omega who is innocent about the world.
When he meets his mate Fen the connection between them is instantaneous and scorching hot.
Bert is an older grandfather type to Red and his meddling almost has dire consequences.
After some minor struggles Red and Fen have their HEA.

Very enjoyable

I really liked this red riding hood retelling. It was a fun read and a sweet romance. Lots of grammatical issues though and that was rather annoying. Still, I'll probably reread this and am seriously considering the next fairy tale in the series. In spite of its issues, I'd really reccomend this!

Don’t do what I did!
I made 2 mistakes when I picked up this book:
1. I went in blind
2. I read it in public

Although, by the time you read this nr. 1 will be either a moot point or it’s too late…

I was not mentally prepared for a retelling of Red Riding Hood with m-preg shifters, so when I finished the book I was too stunned to even think about what to read next.

While the storyline was good it wasn't great and is in desperate need of being heavily edited. While it was a good short read it could of had more plot to it.

And much more background as to why shifters weren't welcome into the human world. I do like the take on Fairy tale retelling it was just missing something.

3/5 stars
2/5 smut

I feel like this story had potential... but between grammatical errors, the sometimes 1st person POV in a 3rd person POV book, and the speed at which the book was paced... I just have issues.

I think the whole book takes place over 4 years, and it's only about 100 pages. That's crazy fast and it was choppy to read unfortunately.

This was a 2.5✨ for me. The biggest/main issue was editing. I struggled with deciding whether I’d be rounding up or down, but ultimately I decided to round down. However, I might look into trying another book at a later date.

Good Little Story

Nice little read. It felt like a cute novice effort. I like a little angst in books. Nothing so heavy there's no coming back, but enough to feel the character's pain. The drama here was like sneeze... done and forgotten.

This is such a cute Little Red Riding Hood retelling!

Normally I'm not a fan of unexpected pregnancy tropes but this story definitely made it enjoyable. It was soft, sweet and made the big bad wolf such a lovable and cute character.

MM, Omegaverse Red Riding Hood retelling where the wolf is a shifter.

Insta love and insta sex.

This was my first experience of Mpreg and I’m not gonna lie, I struggled to get my head around it.

Needs proof reading.

A little different for the time period.

A different turn on the Red Riding Hood story but it was goo. Fen and Red cross paths when Red gets lost in the woods. But as it turns out, they find themselves on the right path.

The author really needed an editor as there were many glaring mistakes. The cover does not reflect the medieval like setting, the writing style also felt it wasn’t medieval even though it’s what it was trying to say.

This author has promise. It was a nice story, plain and simple but good.

A fun read

I enjoyed the twists in the story line.
For me it was the first book by this author. I enjoyed the characters and how the author had them interact. It was very fluid throughout the story.
I look forward to more books by this author.
