A ranger’s duty. The rotten heart of a king. Rebellion spilled from the blood of family.
In Book 4 of the King’s Ranger series, Rew and his companions find themselves transported across the kingdom and flung into the teeth of waiting danger. There’s no time to rest as they go from one deadly circumstance to another. It’s a trap, but are they the trap’s bait or its jaws?
As the companions continue their quest against the king and the princes of Vaeldon, they discover they’re the masters of horrific power. Their strength rivals that of the greatest swordsmen and spellcasters in the kingdom’s history, but when they use that strength, the cost is weighed in lives.
The price of victory is high, and Rew and his friends carry the burden of that sorrow. Are the spoils of victory worth the tragic loss it takes to achieve them? Can Rew and his companions justify their crusade against the Mordens when the line separating them grows ever thin?

When I first found out about The King's Ranger series, I burned through the first three books in less than a week. Ever since then I have been waiting desperately for the fourth book to come out. And The Ranger's Sorrow did not disappoint.
I really enjoyed the character growth in all the characters. They are finally starting to understand why Rew is so hesitant about what they are planning on doing. They finally understand why he has been so secretive about some things. And I loved to see these characters grow.
The book once again was very very fast-paced, and I flew through it as I desperately wanted to know what happened next. I love the fact that it is plot-focused but also character-focused at the same time. We get introduced to some new characters this book and I am very excited to see where the story goes from here.
Overall I genuinely really enjoyed this book so so much and am so excited for the next book in the series. Cant believe more people don't know of this series!
While the author writes well, the topics of violence, anger, necromancers, witch craft, etc are delving into the dark side of fantasy. Yes dark spirits do exist. Just read the Old Testament and Jesus dealing with demons. This story has thousands dying. This is heavy stuff with complex plots. Not uplifting, edifying your spirit kinds of action, and readers should know this fantasy set of stories are not for young people. Our society is hooked or too used to violence and civil lawlessness as it is, so reading dark fantasy only feeds these appetites. As in the days before Noah's flood, this civilization would fit right in when violence was everywhere.
What an action packed and exciting continuation to the story. I laughed, I cried. Well I laughed. Several times. I enjoy AC ‘s sense of humor. From the outset this book is nonstop and intense. We learn more and more about Rew and Anne. More of their backstory, and the histories of those around them. I look forward to the next book and what lies ahead for the companions!
Initially I liked the series, but it started to drag on after the first two books, it has the feeling of a story that was Initially planned as a trilogy, and later stretched into a longer series. This may also be due to the fact that I did the audible version for the first three and then read this one, I'm going to try to finish the series in audible, I fell asleep reading this one too frequently.
Hi two day's ago I finished reading Book 4 of A C Cobble The Kings Ranger series, so far I just loved the continuous changes in the characters that are involved in this series & how the Ranger keeps finding ways to keep his fellow Travelers alive along with helping to train them, I'm now reading Book 5 Raise The Banner, as previous Books their adventures keep on keeping on I just Love this kind of Stories. I would highly recommend anyone who even Likes Adventure / Fantasy stories they try Author AC Cobble, Laurie Stuart
This series grows on me. The first book was a bit slow, but now things are raging and it is very entertaining. The mysteries are slowly being explained as the world get more fleshed out. The characters are much less annoying now, yet some are still underutilized. Good series.
I’m one of those people who fangirls over an author for 30 years waiting for the rest of the story. It’s actually really refreshing to get a dose of great fantasy that I can read in an afternoon and know the next book will be out in six months. This is just good solid mile-a-minute storytelling. I love it!
So far, I’ve enjoyed each of the four books. Cobble has managed to keep the character depth consistent and story web moving at a nice pace. These have been a nice way to enjoy a fun story lines and enough twists & turns to wonder what will happen next. I’ll be moving onto #5 next.
Another excellent, entertaining read from AC Cobble, taking Rew, Anne and the children much further than they'd ever anticipated. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
This book builds and continues to entertain. Can’t wait for the conclusion of this series. The pace is quick with details and info. Read this series it worth it.
This is a well written and developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
Keeps you glue till the next page. Very well writen. The plots thicken. I didn't see what came after. I guest some of the outcome but there are unknow supprise.
By far the best of the series so far. The kids have grown so they're actually useful now and actually listening to Rew rather than thinking they're smarter just because they're nobles.
Enjoying this series ... can't wait to find out the ending of the Investiture. Poor Rew seems to be stuck between a rock and a hard place all the time.
