Orc Guardian Brides #2

Rescued by the Orc

Rate this book
A big Orc Guardian just bought me.

I’ve spent my whole life in hiding, exiled from my people, most of whom are dead. I tell myself loneliness is a strength, even though deep down I long for companionship.

The first time I leave my hiding place, I’m captured by hunters and taken to a seaside village, where I’m put on the auction block, my pointed ears on full display before a crowd of stunned humans… and one gigantic (and incredibly handsome) orc who is determined to cast the winning bid.

I think Thorsen the Savage bought me to keep as a plaything, and I’m fully prepared to use my light fae magic against him. But when he removes the iron bands from my wrists, helps heal me, and promises to take me far away from the enemies who would hunt me down, I decide to make a deal with him.

I’ll become his wife if he keeps me hidden in the Orc Realm.

This is the second installment of the Orc Guardian Brides series and it can be read as a standalone. Although, I do recommend to read the previous one since it's also a good story. In Rescued by the Orc, we have Thorsen, an orc who is looking for a bride after his ten years contract as a Guardian, ready to go home and start a family. And Freya is a rare light fae who's been hiding for seventy-five years, until she is caught by a group of humans who wants to sell her in an auction. Thorsen, who was initially looking for a human bride, doesn't think twice and buys Freya instead, in the hope she would accept him.

I wasn't sure I would like Freya but I really grew to like her. She was feisty and somewhat vain but she had a kind heart. Living most of her life alone and hiding, it made sense that she would be cautious and distrustful of most people. The feistiness that I didn't especially like at first changed into something I enjoyed reading. She was sweet for the most part, but also strong and she had a great complicity with Thorsen. I could also totally relate to her way of thinking which was a bit like: ''better alone than broken hearted''. Her being a fae able to live thousands of years, I could understand her worries and her reluctance to let people in when she knew she would eventually have to grieve them. Which was a bit the theme of this book. I liked to see the change in her, and how she slowly fell in love with Thorsen.

[...]loneliness was a strength. Solitude would keep me safe.-Freya

As for Thorsen, man I loved him. I liked how he quickly grew protective and possessive of Freya. He was gentle but wasn't afraid to be rough in a good way, if you know what I mean...His masculinity, his slight cockiness at times and his devotion were very charming and actually pretty attractive. He was serious but playful and loyal all at once. Some of the stuff that he said made me blink twice, but again, in a good way.

I mean see for yourself:

“Don’t worry, zaxbella, I promise to be gentle with you. I’ll save the intense rutting for when you are used to taking my size.”
-Thorsen

“If anyone attempts to capture you, Freya, I will end them swiftly and violently, and I’ll put their heads on stakes as a warning to others to leave you alone. No one touches what’s mine, and you very much belong to me.”-Thorsen

I leaned over her and put my lips to her earlobe. “You’re all wet and ready for your husband’s cock, aren’t you, Freya? Ready for a good, hard pounding?”

Their chemistry was beautiful. I really liked the evolution of their relationship, starting as people not trusting each other, to making an arrangement, becoming friends, to falling in love. It was a nice, organic love story, and I think Thorsen and Freya were perfect for each other. I remember liking the first book, Promised to the Orc but this one was slightly better in my opinion. I loved the lessons in it, they were all very relatable and touching.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. I've been loving these books because they depict orcs in a better light than what they usually are. Most books about orcs show them to be mean and disgusting monsters but this series show a heartwarming side to them. They are devoted, loyal, loving, and very protective of their brides.

This was a really fun read that plays out differently than other author's orc stories - our orc, Thorsen, falls for a fae lady. I love this premise as it brings me back to my fantasy reading teenage years ;) Beyond this, we get a great story that was entertaining and full of action. Freya expected the worst from him and resisted her attraction to Thorsen, but he was all in and broke all her preconceived notions. This had me totally invested in how things would unfold as they strived to overcome the difficulties they faced. Good fun!

Format: Digital
Series: Complete
Steam Level: Steamy

Another fun, quick installment. It’s basically a fated mates, insta-love story so if that’s not your jam it’s best to skip this whole series. This book is a little more dark than the previous one but is not a Dark Romance.

Quick Thoughts:
- This set up could have been super cringy but the author pulled it off
- These two together are great, they complement each other in realistic ways (yes, I say this about an Orc/Seelie couple)
- Really like how Thorson and Freya feel very different from Gregor and Catrin (from Book One) and not just the same characters in a different situation
- The hesitancy Freya has about their relationship was very understandable
- These virgin guys must have done a lot of reading/research to be this good in bed
- More of this universe is revealed, and while this isn’t a ‘everything is sunshine and rainbows’ universe, it doesn’t feel hopeless
- Wish we had more of these two’s first arrival in Haxall or even them meeting Gregor and Catrin
- I officially only like the Orc clans

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to seeing how this series concludes (though I am hoping for more books set in this universe.) In the future I will be picking up more by this author.

What an emotional story. Freya is one of the few surviving light faes and has been hiding in the human world for over 75 years, all to herself in a cabin deep in the Southern Forest. Her love of books turns out to be her doom. Walking as inconspicuously as she can in the nearest human village, she sees a traveling merchant with a crate of books, buys the entire crate from him, and carries it out of the village. But this show of strength - which is not one for her - attracts attention and she gets captured. She is taken to a fishing village where she is to be sold as a slave at an auction and is the main attraction. By chance, on auction day, the retired Guardian, an orc named Thorsen, is also in the beach village. He is looking for a human wife. Thorsen buys Freya, weakened by the iron chains, to bring her to his village as his mate. The story of the two, who are from such different backgrounds, yet have much in common is heartwarming, exciting and very sexy. I enjoyed the book completely.

“Rescued by the Orc” is the second book in the series “Orc Guardian Brides” from Sue Mercury. Each story is impressive, fantastic and a beautifully told romantic tale. Through the author’s wonderful talent, we are shown how the characters learn about themselves, each other, relationships and that together they grow stronger and can realize a brighter future.
We get to learn more about the Fae Realm and the struggles between the Light Seelie Fae and the Unseelie Fae. Freya is a Seelie Fae who was hidden by her parents to save her from the Unseelie and all other enemies. She has been hiding for a very long time until one day she ventures away from her sanctuary, gets caught and is placed on the auction block.
Imagine her fear, surprise and apprehension wondering about her fate. She is not human, she is Fae, a rarity and many humans fear the Fae. She is surprised when Thorsen the Savage, an Orc Guardian bids on her. He is Huge and the Orc have a reputation for being fierce fighters and Thorsen is determined to win her because he knows she will be his bride, if he can win her over. Oops, there’s the rub, will he win her over? Will she be able to learn to trust him? With each passing day, Thorsen the Savage develops stronger and stronger feelings for her. What a dilemna?
As, they venture towards his home, he heals her from the wounds incurred from her captivity and he keeps her safe from any other possible predators. The air between them is electric, they are both strong, passionate, brave and their power struggle is fascinating to watch.
The book is a page turner from page one! Their characters are well developed, the story is riveting and uncertainty fills one with worry, tension and you just keep reading and reading! Thank you Susan Mercury for such a beautiful love story!

i liked this one, I don’t think I liked it as much as the first, but it was still enjoyable. It was easy to read, the plot was simple, the writing was smooth and it was a quick read.

This time we follow a Fae named Freya. She’s been in hiding for 75 years, with her status being a light-seelie, that means she can be hunted. She has to keep a low profile wherever she goes. One day she sadly does get spotted by humans and is taken to auction to be sold off. Thinking she’ll be sold off purely to be used by a human, to her surprise she is actually bought by an Orc.
Thorsen the Slayer. After his guardian role was fulfilled he is now looking for a bride to claim and take back to his clan. As soon as he lays eyes on Freya, he simply has to have her.

Once the pair meet, they set off to go to the Orc Clan. it’s a very similar plot to the first book. Which isn’t a bad thing imo. The romance between our couple blossoms. Thorsen ofc is a sweetheart, he’s so devoted and loving to his bride. Our couple are also virgins together, which I find adorable. I just can’t fault it really.

I will say though I have to give this 3.75 stars, only because I couldn’t quite connect to this one like I did with the last one. I was worried about how the life span would be resolved. Fae’s live longer then Orcs and Freya didn’t want to be alone again, but thankfully the epilogue gives us an explanation to how it works. All in all I did enjoy this. I will be reading the third and final book. For me these books have been the best Orc romance novels.

- 26 chapters + epilogue
- dual POV
- Orc x Fae romance
- 3.75/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another wonderful Orc read by this simply fantastic author, thoroughly enjoyed
This is a simply riveting read and I do not want to spoil it for other readers by spoiling the plot for others so will be careful about how much direct information I give. Having been in hiding for the entirety of her life on the one day she actually ventured out she was captured and found herself being put on the auction block.
As she is dragged in to the town square and is displayed before the humans, hunters and other gawkers and buyers who had noticed her pointed ears and stranger look she is so scarred and has no idea what to expect. Imagine her fear and surprise when a large Orc had suddenly started bidding, unbeknown to any one else there he is determined that no one else will ever win her but him.
Thorsen The Savage is huge and is reputation is renowned across the lands and amongst his own people he is an enigma but it is fair to say that he is not what she expected. He heals her and ensures that he keeps her safe from any other possible predators.
I hope that you will enjoy the book as much as I did and am sure that you will be drawn into this wonderful book.
I do not want to spoil the plot so will say no more about the three of them, I assure you that you will enjoy every single moment of this book.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Freya is a very rare light fae. She has kept herself hidden from the world for 75 years however she has been alone that entire time. Time enough to be lonely, isolated and truly begin to suffer for it regardless of telling herself that it is in a fcat a virtue. It is a sense of wanting to see life surround her I think that causes her to leave her cottage and go to the nearest town. This decision brings about the worst fate and also the best, although let's be honest it is hard to see how being caught and then sold off at a slave market can truly be the start of the best thing to happen in your life. Doesn't say much of your life up to that point does it? Thorsen is a typical Orc and yet just his very presence puts people off. That is because they do not understand the Orcs nor do they particularly want to. He is far from a brutal killer, out to destroy and ravage as that is not his way nor the way of his people. He has a practical plan for himself to have Freya become his wife. He can protect her providing she doesn't run from him first although given he just bought her at the auction his first impression is not great. He's fooling himself though if he thinks he's doing it all out of honour....

This was a wonderful book and a quick read and it held my interest throughout and till the very end. Freya is a Seelie Fae and has stayed hidden for a long time but one day she is caught and taken straight to the auction block where the humans and hunters are bidding for her but what surprises her is the sexy and gorgeous huge Orc that’s bidding and is determined to win her and in the end he does and his name is Thorsen the savage and now Freya is worried he only wants a plaything but when he removes the iron bands from her wrist and starts to heal her and promises to keep her safe and she agrees if he takes her to the Orc realm she will be his wife. While traveling together the learn about each other’s lives and soon they are falling in love. Do they make to the Haxxall clan lands and the Orc realm safe and sound and have the future they both desire or not. To find out more about this amazing book you’ll have to get it, I know you won’t be disappointed.

This is a well written book with amazing world building, storyline and characters. What starts off as mistrust slowly turns into relief, acceptance, lust and love. There’s also action, passion, romance, steamy scenes and more.

Freya is a fae and has been in hiding for a long long time. When she finally leaves to go to a market she’s happy, until she makes a small mistake and is captured by hunters. She’s then auctioned off. Thorsen is an orc warrior. He’s completed his service and now needs to find a female to become his bride. He’s goes to an auction where he heard of a female fae being sold and he bought her. Freya is torn being feeling hatred and being terrified. Thorsen tells her he won’t harm her and rips off her iron shackles. He takes her to the inn he’s staying at and treats her wounds. He plans on taking Freya to the mountains he calls home but he won’t force her. They can help each other and come up with a deal. One that ends up with them mated and Freya is finally safe and loved.

Freya just wanted to venture out just a little. She had been alone for so long. Her joy of being around people was short lived though. She was caught and taken for auction. Thorsen the Savage had done his 10yrs and now was looking for a wife. Orcs work a hard life and the rewards of his time served was well worth it. His thought to find a human wife changed when he hears of a Seelie Fae. Rare as they are, he had so see. She was beyond beauty. His kindness shocks Freya. He also makes her feel things. Their journey through the human realm was long and hard at times. But love came. Along with it was fear of what fate would happen to Thorsen. You end up feeling torn at times. Thank goodness Freya embraced her true emotion. Of course her past popped up. But that was dealt with. We still have another member searching for his bride. I look forward to that.

Thorsen has gone to the coast as he has always wanted to see the sea... he heard stories as a little boy... Freya has been hiding for a very long time in the human world...her world is gone... only the dark fae... and they are cruel...she gets captured one day and will be sold... on the day... Thorsen is in the village looking to buy a bride... he does not like humans much... when hears of a light fae... well... she is terrified of him... she knows nothing of orcs... this is their story...you will laugh and you will cry... you will feel what they feel... can't wait for Magnus's story...

I love this love story!!!!

All of these orcs are strong and brutal in so many ways, but once they find their female they simply become lovesick.
Honestly this story is much hotter than the previous one and at the same time sweeter. I like how the author achieves that combination.
Both bring wounds from the past and a lot of mistrust and yet they manage to be wonderful together.
In this book we got to know more about the Fae Realm and about the Seelie and the Unseelie I loved that.
I liked the personalities of Thorsen and Freya, they are both strong, passionate, brave and the power struggle is great!

Thorsen sets out to find his human mate before returning home to start a family, but finds Freya, a light fae, instead. Freya has had to live in hiding all of her life, but after having been exposed, Thorsen might be her best hope for safety. Both she and Thorsen have a sense of obligation to contribute to the continuation of their species, and for Freya, being with Thorsen somewhat goes against that.
Their relationship is one that develops quickly, but genuinely. It's something that doesn't necessarily arise from something like shared trauma or extreme emotions, but something that develops naturally.

But I am concerned with the welfare of that poor box of books left to fend for itself in the forest! :)

Freya is a light fae who has been hiding for most of her life, from humans and dark fae, but she's horrified when she's captured and auctioned off to an Orc. Thorsen is an Orc Guardian who's ready to settle down with a wife and family - he's expecting to buy a human wife, not a fae. There's an instant attraction between the two, which Thorsen wants to embrace and Freya wants to resist. Emotions and attraction for one another lead the pair to some steamy action with one another. But, if Freya is to be safe and the couple is to have an HEA, then the pair must make their way back to the Orc realm facing challenges along the way and Freya's past.

Freya doesn't expect an Orc to buy her when she's captured and put on the auction block. Thorsen the Savage is surprised to find a light Fae on the auction block and is determined that she not fall into the hands of cruel humans. Their people have been enemies, so can they find happiness together as husband and wife? This is the second in the series and the author did not disappoint. Great characters with interaction and chemistry that is off the charts, also I loved the storyline and it's progression, as well as the action and the adventure. It's a fun read.

Fun series, great story.

Second in the series but a standalone. Freya is a rare light Fae. She’s been in hiding in the human realm after escaping slavery by the dark Fae. When she finally steps out of hiding she finds herself captured and sold off to an Orc. Thorsen has completed his 10 years as a guardian and is taking a look at the sea before he takes a human wife back to the Orc realm. One look at Freya and he outbids everyone. Fae and Orc come from very different worlds. We learn more about the war as they struggle to find an HEA. But Freya’s past isn’t done with her. Great story. Fun read. Really glad about the ending…(read it for yourself).

Great story! Freya steps out of her cottage to go to the human town, hiding her Fae ears, just to buy some books. Unfortunately, she was captured and sold to an Orc Guardian named Thorsen. Freya realizes Thorsen saved her from being sold to a human male. As they make their way back to Thorsen's clan, they learn so much about each other and they accept each other as mates. Then the unexpected happens when another male Seelie Fae who Freya's parents betrothed her to finds them and attempts to take Freya, although neither Freya or Thorsen agrees. This story has steamy romance with lots of action and a happy ending.

I hadn’t read book 1 in this series so you can read this book as a standalone and this is Thorsen’s and Freya’s story. Freya is a Fae she leaves her hiding place for the first time when she is captured by hunters and they put her on the auction block where a good looking Orc is determined to buy her. Freya is in fear for her life so she makes a deal with Thorsen for his protection. Fantastic story I loved it the characters and the 🔥 sexy scenes and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

I just LOVE these Orc Guardians! Like Gregor in the first book - Thorsen is awesome!!

This book has:

💚 Protective, Alpha Orc Male MC
❤️ Light Fae Female MC
❤️‍🔥 Steamy Scenes
💝 Happily Ever After

I am really hoping for more books in this series - even after we read about Magnus in the next book - perhaps about some other Orc Guardians!!

This was a great read and this is an awesome series by Sue Mercury. Freya is a Seeli Fae that has been in hiding her entire life. When she is captured and put on the auction block, Thorsen, an Orc Guardian is looking for a wife and immediately wants her. He buys her, heals her, and they agree that he will protect her. Sue Mercury's orcs are kind, compassionate, a gentle lover, but a brutal protector. I love them and this was a perfect addition to this series.

This is a fantasy story so it has other realms in the story and unlike the first one that focused on mainly just the Orc and Human Realms, this one also talks about the Fae Realm and introduces new types of characters with different abilities to the story. I like how the characters are able to move past the initial start to their relationship and how they find a future together even with multiple villains trying to stop them.

This is the second standalone story and a larger series. His story a late fee who loves to read is captured and will be sold as a slave. When a guardian orc sees her, he's able to save her from what would be a terrible fate. She wants to be free, but he wants her to become his wife. The characters are strong individually, but could be more together. They must overcome dangerous situations and strive to accept and embrace each other in order to find their hea.. I thought that this read was really, really good. This is a great addition to this enjoyable series. There was a beautiful and genuine underlying sweetness to Freya and Thorsen romance. This tale feels both timeless and epic. I loved the emotion, chemistry, drama, action, adventure and steam that fueled this marvelous book. I look forward to book three! This is the second book in the Orc Guardian Brides series. It's a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you engaged from start to finish.
This is a story about a Seelie Fae (h) who has been in hiding for a very long time when one day she gets caught and is put on the auction block. The H is an Orc guardian looking for a bride when he comes across the h and knows that she is for him.
Read to find out what happens.

Cute but..

I liked it except for one thing. And it's a personal reason but as with the first book one word kept throwing me out of the story. Cunny -shudders- I can't even type or say it without my skin crawling. So, as I say personal reasons why I just couldn't get completely into it. I had hoped the second would not use that word but I'm guessing the whole series does which makes me sad.

This series has really grabbed me. The stories are a combination of sugar and spice. Orcs are feared warriors but when it comes to their women they are gentle and loving. I really liked that Thorsen saved Freya from the humans. The combination of a fae and an Orc is unusual. The ending was wonderful. I loved the visitors that came to share. Overall a sweet love story.
