Growth is pain. Opportunities are challenges. February is filled with Opportunities for Growth.

A Lord according to the system, Grant Monday has arrived in February. This place is the absolute opposite of January, and his largest challenge isn’t hostile Wielders. Instead, the new Lord needs to face culture shock; contending with strange foods, stringent training, and a stomach-churning subrace of humans known as 'Joggers'.

Grant chose the wrong time to try to take on the world: every single citizen of February is a powerful body cultivator, and this year there has been a huge shift in the power dynamics of the District. Not only is everyone fervently training, they all have the same end goal as Grant. Only the finalists of the Body-focused tournament get the chance to go head-to-head with Lady February, and Grant is a decade behind.

People are doing anything they can to get an edge. Grant is happy to introduce them to his blade.

While I enjoyed the previous volume for its light satire of other LitRPG titles, this one was fully enjoyable as a regular LitRPG.

Twelve lands, twelve months locked off from each other, and one sword that has the full powers of Leap Day.

Yeah, yeah, weird, but the novel is much better in execution. :)

All in all, it's a cultivation series. In this case, it's the continued cultivation of his skills, overcoming all the challenges to finally take on the Big Bad, Lady February, and move forward one month/land to save them all.

Simple, fun, and a great snarky sword that continues to whip our MC into shape.

I never once got bored.

Grant has just entered the second district, February. His mission is to defeat the Lords of each month. Grant is utterly shocked at the incredible difference between January in February. The food is different, the people are different, but Sarge remains the same!

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series. It’s a cultivation story with a healthy dose of of LitRPG. The characters are relatable and just plain enjoyable. Spoiler at the end makes me even more excited to start March! It doesn’t need to be said, but Travis Baldree makes this book so much better! Just like he has with all the others that he narrates.

2nd Month. 2nd Triumph

Another excellent installment that pits Grant against another district. Again, Dakota delights us with a new world within a world that brings things ot seen before.

The world building of this series is second to none. Each district has its own unique characteristics that fit into a lager world. This revelation, one district at a time, is excellently done and leaves the reader hungry for more.

Lady February (Year of the Sword #2) by Dakota Krout:

Lady February (Year of the Sword #2) by Dakota Krout continues the enthralling tale of adventure and magic in a world where swords and sorcery collide. While the first book in the series captivated readers with its imaginative setting and compelling characters, this second installment struggles to maintain the same level of excitement and engagement, offering a narrative that feels disjointed and lacks cohesion.

Krout's writing style remains evocative, with vivid descriptions and intricate world-building that draw the reader into the story. However, the pacing in this installment feels uneven, with long stretches of exposition and filler material detracting from the overall momentum of the narrative.

In this book, readers are once again immersed in the world of Lady February as she navigates the challenges of her newfound powers and the dangers of the magical realm. While the concept is intriguing, the execution feels lacking, with the plot meandering aimlessly and failing to deliver on its promise of high-stakes adventure and excitement.

When critically analyzing the plot of Lady February, it becomes apparent that the narrative lacks direction and purpose. The conflicts feel contrived and arbitrary, lacking the emotional weight needed to invest readers in the story. Additionally, certain plot threads are left unresolved, leaving the narrative feeling incomplete and unsatisfying.

Moreover, the character development in this installment feels lacking, with Lady February and the supporting cast failing to undergo significant growth or evolution throughout the narrative. While there are moments of introspection and personal growth, they ultimately feel superficial and fail to resonate with the reader.

Overall, Lady February (Year of the Sword #2) is a disappointing continuation of the series, offering a lackluster and uninspired narrative that struggles to recapture the magic of its predecessor. While it may provide some entertainment for fans of the genre, it ultimately lacks the depth and substance needed to leave a lasting impression.

Grant appears in the February district and gets a culture shock. Used to the large overindulgence of January, now up to people, running by choice? Grant has to defeat the Lady of the district to complete his quests. Instead of being looked down upon for being to skinny, now gets the same for being to large. And this district only "healthy" food. Follow along as he navigates this new land and joins the local competitions to reach Lady February.

Review: This series just gets better and better. Grant is growing in character as well as abilities. The issues within the districts gets more refined and challenging. Grant needed a sidekick that just happens to be a possible love interest.

I have a hard time believing that this is only a 3 book series as he has each of the months to conquer.

Get this you will be entertained.

Another Home Run

Dakota I swear your books are the worst kind of tease lol. This book was a good book 2 . Was pleased with Grants journey through February and the twists and turns in this were nice. Certainly didn’t see the ending coming all I have to say is is it March yet? Keep up the stellar work

Fantastic, 4.4/5.
I didn’t really enjoy the story twists and turns in the first book. There was nothing pointing to the plot twist and the side character building was pretty weak. This book has fixed some of the flaws, less side characters are introduced and more world building added. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

It got weirder

Well, the first book was the weirdest essay on the dangers of overeating mixed with an RPG martial arts system. Now this book introduced the cult to a lean and muscular body as a super value of society to the detriment of everything else to the weird mix of martial arts and level system.

The weird part is that it works, and the story is excellent.

Didn't expect the fitness area to be directly touching the fat slob area but the contrast works well. It also serves to get our protagonist into a more traditionally heroic shape. I really enjoy Krouts writing style and the pacing of the story. It was a bit predictable as soon as the leader turned out to be an attractive girl his age.

Polar opposite of January

I was surprised that District February was the opposite of January, where January everyone was fat. In February, everyone was fit. I like the end of how Lady February joined Grant on his adventure. One more book to go, I hope Dakota finishes the story there, or he is still writing the rest. I hate cliffhangers.

Fun book 2

Everything I enjoyed about book 1 amplified, with stakes raised. I’m loving the silly world, and the comedy elements in this book are even better than the first. Great mesh of action, comedy, and LitRPG mechanics.

Looking forward to book 3z

Like a fish out of water.

Grant travels from his home district into the next and finds a world VERY different from his own. He makes mistakes and still manages to find a few friends, even one who might not have been had things gone differently. March looks to be different still.

great cultivation story

Some minor editing issues could have used a few test reads. I know that these books get cranked out but a little time for some light editing would be nice. Interesting world and characters. I love cultivation novels.

Good series

U enjoyed the series. It was light and amusing. The first book was better because Grant was much more of an underdog. Each district looks like it will be different and should be entertaining.

I really enjoy this unique series. This second entry benefits from not having to explain the basics of the universe, and the story flows quite smoothly.

Tossing this and future books in the DNF pile. Rubbish is too kind. Nonsensical plot, MC is worth only contempt. If food, it’d be bad gas station food.

Seriously like this series. It’s silly and fun while also having consequences and weight. Can’t wait to read all of them as they are written.

This has been a wonderfully fun series so far. I wish it didn't end with book 3 and went all the way through the months of the year. 👍🏾👍🏾

Edit: this isn't the end of the series!

As a runner, I found this book pretty humorous. Grant makes a lot of progress and I’m excited to see how he is compared to other people in other areas or if there will be a power creep through the months. Overall, it was a really fun read.
