“Danger was part of my job description, but none of my contingency plans anticipated an attack by a Maine Coon.”

It’s summer on Whisper Island. Ex-cop-turned-private-investigator Maggie Doyle is looking forward to sun, fun, and romance. Instead, she gets bills, an assault allegation, and a busted wrist. To add insult to injury, there’s a movie being filmed on the island, and Maggie’s diva sister has been cast in it—her debut role. While other residents clamor for parts as extras, Maggie wants nothing to do with the shoot.

But when hotshot director Con Ryder asks Maggie to investigate a series of suspicious accidents on the movie set, she can’t afford to refuse. Maggie and her UFO-obsessed assistant, Lenny, go undercover as extras, with Lenny intent on enjoying every second of the experience, and Maggie determined to solve the mystery and leave as quickly as possible. Maggie’s hopes for a quick-fix solution are shot to pieces when the woman who accused her of assault turns up dead.

Maggie Doyle, ex-cop now Private Investigator, was looking forward to the weekend when she and her boyfriend, Whisper Island’s resident policeman Liam headed away for a couple of days of romance. But their plans were thwarted when the movie director, Con Ryder, who was running the filming on nearby Dolphin Island, asked Maggie and her off-sider Lenny to investigate what looked like sabotage on the set. In the meantime, Liam also had to head to the Island as his daughter had gained a role as an extra. Their weekend away would have to wait…

Maggie was struggling with a badly sprained wrist after an accident but was confident she could handle any problems that would arise. She was undercover – cast as an extra – which gave her the ability to cover all areas of the filming. Lenny was enjoying the experience, but Maggie not so much. But as the accidents continued and people were hurt, Maggie wasn’t sure she would be able to wrap up the investigation as quickly as she was hoping. And when one of the extras died in dramatic fashion, Con, Maggie and Lenny agreed to call in Liam as it was obviously a case for the police.

Some Like it Shot is the 6th in the Movie Club Mysteries by Zara Keane and I thoroughly enjoyed it once again. A fabulous, highly entertaining series set on the fictional Irish island of Whisper Island, with our main character Maggie perfect for the role. With a Maine Coon called Quibbles as Maggie’s nemesis, the fun and games didn’t stop. Highly recommended.

With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is sixth in a series and many of the character and story backgrounds are built through the others, so I recommend reading in order.

While I knew mostly what to expect, I wasn't nearly as satisfied with this story. The opening has Maggie engage in a stupidly clumsy fit kicked off by a deeply unprofessional prank by Lenny that I hated every moment of. Since she severely sprained her wrist (such that it affected the rest of the story) that annoyance persisted throughout. So with every mention of her painkiller-induced brain fog and every time she couldn't do a thing because of that stupid wrist I got to revisit my dissatisfaction with that forced opening. And I really hated the central jerk, Theresa and even more so that she got her way every freaking time (until someone finally managed to murder her off, an event that took way, waaaay too long to happen).

Speaking of taking too long to happen, Keane did something she hasn't before. Here's the last line of the first chapter "Neither of us knew that in less than twenty-four hours, Theresa would be dead, and I’d be accused of her murder." This is unbelievably clumsy regardless of everything else, but it sets up a stupid amount of tension because . So that whole stupidly awkward foreshadow took forever to start, and it was (mostly) a lie anyway.

I thought better of Keane, frankly. I'm chalking this up as an uncharacteristic misstep and/or personal and idiosyncratic pique on my part and I'll still snatch up the next should one be forthcoming. Anyway, three stars and grudging ones at that.

A note about Chaste: So Maggie and Liam are definitely "involved". But still nothing more than kissing on-page and they're still talking about moving in together.

Maggie's only client is crazy cat lady Trudy Nelson, searching for her missing Maine Coon Quibbles, a prized show cat. Maggie's only lead after two weeks is a trailer park where a snotty kid tries to con her out of 50 Euro. Nice try kid but there's no cat anywhere to be seen so no money. On her way home she's accosted by Theresa Crawley, a dubious fish and chips food truck owner who wants Maggie to investigate who is sending her threatening death notes. Maggie begs Theresa not to take matters into her own hands but to come to the office and talk. The meeting doesn't go well and ends up with Theresa freaking out over Lenny's silly prank and falling down the stairs taking Maggie with her. With a sprained wrist it seems like Maggie will be out of commission for awhile and could really use that weekend getaway with Liam. Alas, he has to cancel their date. All of Whisper Island is buzzing about the new Hollywood movie being filmed on Dolphin Island. As Maggie's sister is the star, everyone is begging her for a spot as an extra and Liam and Hannah are lucky enough to score extra roles. Maggie and Lenny end up getting roped into the biz when the director, Con Ryder asks Maggie to look into the suspicious accidents that have befallen the cast. Maggie's sister is certain someone is targeting her and while Maggie thinks her sister is being a selfish drama queen, she agrees to look into matters - for the money. When more mysterious accidents happen, Maggie isn't so sure it's not a coincidence. Then Theresa shows up in spite of claiming to have no interest in the movie. What is she up to and why? Maggie's worst fear comes true when Theresa drops dead while filming a dance scene. Maggie suspects Theresa was murdered with a poisonous plant from the Poison Garden at the old Castle where they're filming. Could it be related to the notes Theresa wanted Maggie to investigate before things went south-literally? Is it just a coincidence or is Theresa's death connected to the mysterious accidents?

This is another great mystery and while it doesn't feature the Movie Club, there are plenty of Whisper Island residents. We even meet some new residents from the proverbial wrong side of the tracks. Plus there are plenty of Hollywood types involved. The mystery kept me guessing until the end. I really thought it was someone else. I did put some of the clues together long before Maggie did but I didn't connect all the dots.

Maggie is really experiencing a lot of character growth. She's less belligerent and more willing to keep an open mind regarding her sister. While her first instinct is to be snarky and think the worst, she recognizes her knee-jerk reaction is based on childhood trauma. That trauma had nothing to do with her sister. She should blame their parents and roll her eyes at her drama queen sister. Maggie even tries being nice to the town crank, Theresa, who no one likes. Lenny is a hoot as always but man he really doesn't think things through. He needs to be more professional while in the office. He can still hunt UFOs and do weed on the weekends. Liam is wonderful. He's a great cop, a devoted dad and loving boyfriend. At the end of the book he moves more into swoony territory. The relationship is progressing and I like that.

New inhabitants of Whisper Island we meet include Trudy Nelson. She's a sweet little old lady who loves her cat like he's her child. There's nothing wrong with that or wanting closure for his disappearance. If I were Maggie, I would think like a Tom cat and hunt down all the female cats in season. THAT is where you will find Quibbles is my guess. That's the first place I'd look. Sammy Brennon is an annoying little kid who lives with his creepy, sleazy dad in a food truck trailer park. Sammy is smart mouthed but being young, his comments are often innocent and give Maggie some insight into what's happening in the community. I wouldn't pay him 50 quid though not even if he found the cat for her. His father, Magnum, is a sleazy guy. Maggie seems to have learned how to keep her temper in check when dealing with guys who try to harass her. He wants to date her and that's a firm NO from Maggie but she's surprisingly polite about it. That's where I'd lose my cool. He has a fried foods truck to rival Theresa's fish and chips truck. Could he be sending her threatening notes? What about Ann Russell, Theresa's neighbor? She seems to have a nicer personality and for some reason, grumpy Theresa has it out for Ann. Tom, the cab driver, is a major jerk and not in a funny grumpy way like Paddy or the Geralds. Just a jerk.

Noel Tate is the charming caretaker of the castle on Dolphin Island. He's lovely and really passionate about his garden. He's knows a lot about the plants and is on edge because so many people are traipsing through a dangerous garden. Maggie takes to Noel right away and I like him a lot too. Storm Mackenzie is Maggie's new neighbor and Lenny's new best friend. She's a makeup artist and Lenny is thrilled to learn more about special effects makeup and share his passion for movies with her. He says they're just friends but does his love interest Sila know that? I like the advice Maggie gives him in regards to dealing with the young women in his life.

Storm is also connected to the movie. The Hollywood characters are stereotypes. There's the cheerful director Con Ryder, who mostly keeps his cool in spite of NEEDING this movie to be a success. Maggie's sister comes across as whiny and selfish at times but Maggie should recognize that Beth is scared and going through a tough time. Sometimes Beth/Eliza is a *itch to the crew and she's going to earn herself a bad reputation in Hollywood. I think she really does love Luke and he seems like a nice guy but perhaps neither of them really understands the way the business works. Judd Ryan, Eliza's co-star and America's favorite bad boy may resemble Tom Cruise but he's trouble. Could he be behind the mysterious accidents to gain publicity for the movie or is it someone connected to him? He seems pretty into Eliza and Maggie does not like that one bit for Judd reminds her of her no good ex. She's protective of her sister and half hopes he's the perpetrator, however, she needs the money and the only way to get it is if the movie is a success. The movie can't be a success if the leading man is in jail. Maybe? Harper, Con's assistant, is TOTALLY into Judd and jealous of Eliza. She's rude even to Maggie and considers herself more important than she is. I strongly suspect her of wrongdoing and targeting Eliza. It's sooo obvious she hates Maggie's sister more than Maggie does.

Miss Coco, the dance choreographer, is a wonderful character. Her/His travels sound amazing and the collection of tea cups is a great idea for a souvenir. They're important to her/him. Maggie hits it off with the choreographer right away. I like Miss Coco too but I suspect she has a nasty streak and can be vindictive, especially being from New Orleans! I don't want Miss Coco to be the villain any more than Maggie does but I think she has to consider it. Merry, the assistant choreographer, is not as charming. She's hiding something and I think I can guess what one secret is but what she's up to is a mystery. I don't think it's anything good though. Miss Coco feels she can vouch for Merry but does she really know for sure that Merry isn't behind the accidents? Gretchen, a dancer in the company, has an accident. Did she slip on purpose to make herself seem like victim when she is really the perpetrator? She seems innocent enough but you never know.

I've reached the end of the books Hoopla carries for now but if they get the next one I'd like to read it. I've already read Darby O'Kill: A Short Story

In the previous book, Maggie's sister, Eliza Donati (real name: Beth Doyle), visited Whisper Island with a director, Con Ryder, in a plan to shoot a romcom movie. In this book, that movie is being made. Eliza is the female star, of course. But things don't happen smoothly at the set. Accidents happen, tension is running high, then one of the extra is murdered.

Of course, Maggie Doyle, dead-body-magnet extraordinaire, is in the center of everything. She has been hired by Con Ryder to investigate who might want to sabotage the movie, but the dead victim is also one that Maggie has confrontation with few days previously.

This is the latest installment, and so far the last book, of Keane's Movie Club Mysteries series. I have bingeing this book for days and I feel a bit lost now that there's no more book to savor. I am going to miss Maggie, Liam, Lenny, and the whole Whisper Island citizens.

Anyway, in this book, there are updates about Beth (), Con Ryder and the male star of the movie, and of course Maggie and Lenny find culprits on the set, and help Liam with other case, and well, find a prized Maine Coon. It's all good 😄

ARC received from author for an honest review

There are two places on the planet I never want to visit - the town/county of Midsomer, and Whisper Island - they both have a disproportionate number of murders!

Though at least on Whisper Island we have Maggie, Liam and Lenny looking out for us!

I really enjoyed this 6th installment in the Movie Club series.

I liked learning more about Maggie's sister -even if she was quite unlikable at times. The dynamic between them was interesting to say the least.

I am usually pretty cluey, and have a bit of an idea of whodunnit, however with this one I was very late to the game on even having an inkling of who it was, and I like that.

I have always liked Maggie's assistang Lenny, however in this installment, I felt that he really came into his own, and is still as amusing as every.

And Liam is still as wonderful as ever.

I look forward to more Whisper Island adventures

Some Like it Shot earns 5/5 Film Shots...Engaging Fun!

Zara Keane has penned another entertaining cozy romp with Maggie Doyle, her ex-cop PI, excited over the impending romantic getaway with Liam Reynolds, her boyfriend and local Garda sergeant. Business is slow, the weather’s been chancy, and her only client wants her to find a missing prized cat named Quibbles—which does make a few key appearances to delight “fur” friend fans. But, as it happens, their plans are interrupted, and the delightful mystery begins. Maggie and her associate Lenny Logan are enlisted by the director of a film crew to uncover details behind various “accidents” that have plagued his film’s production. Added complication comes from an injury to Maggie’s wrist and her sister. Beth is in the film and may be an intended victim, putting their sibling conflicts on full, realistic, display. But, it’s the murder of Theresa Crawley, a not-well-liked restaurateur, taking center stage and requiring a more “undercover” operation. Entertaining! Zara sets this Irish drama on the neighboring Dolphin Island, creating a marvelous environment with her descriptive, sensory-laden language of Dunfarrig Castle, the Poison Garden, and the surrounding area along with a variety of characters. Through realistic and engaging dialogue, she has developed some wonderfully complex personalities from endearing to quirky, clever to murderous. The drama, which included Liam’s robbery case, was deliciously fun to unwrap, challenging with misdirection, but you can’t ignore Lenny who offers a few giggles...I loved it all!

Disclosure: I received an ARC from author. My review is voluntary with honest insights and comments.

Isn't it amazing how something as mundane as a search for a missing Maine Coon cat can crack open a much bigger case? Maggie has her hands full when her sister and a film crew come to Whisper Island and someone decides to make deadly mischief on set. Lots of action and humor, as expected from this series.

Poor Maggie. She just wants some peace and quiet, but that’s not to be. I loved being part of the story and the characters. The main character is something else.

Overview: Maggie Doyle, head PI and owner of Movie Reel Investigations, has a few problems. One: she can't find Trudy Nelson's prize show Maine Coon cat. Two: her potential client has decided that her services are not required due to Lenny's, her assistant, practical joke. And now, her sister's movie set has some major problems. There have been quite a few accidents, and other delaying incidents during the filming of "Wedding Belles". Now, Maggie and Lenny are working undercover on the set. Too bad that Theresa Crawley headed out to the set of the movie as an extra. Worse, she ended up dead. Who could have wanted Theresa dead? Does it have anything to do with the sabotage case? And how long does Maggie have to spend on this movie set? Let's find out.

Dislikes: Theresa Crawley was a monster to work with. This doesn't mean that she deserved to die. She made more enemies than friends in her day-to-day life. The best description that fits her is a bully.

Con was a bit of a whiner. I get it, he had a lot tied up in the current film, but really does he have to pout and whine about it? He drove me nuts.

Likes: Beth can seem to be a bit of an airheaded influencer. Yet she did try to think about others around her, particularly those she loved. Most of her more self-absorbed times was when she was focused on some heavy problems.

Merry lived for her friends and her son. She would do almost anything for both.

Coco's tea ritual seems like a good way to break the ice.

Liam's meet-up with Maggie in the on-site cafeteria was fun. It's amazing how you can spend a small fortune and still fail on delivering a decent meal.

And finding Quibbles was a trip. I'm guessing no one around ever heard of the carry nerves on the cats.

Conclusion: This was a fun book. You might want to consider looking for a pronunciation guide for some of the Irish terminology if you are going to read this one aloud. If you like cozy mysteries that edge to the more serious sleuths, then this book is for you. Enjoy the read.

Maggie Doyle is back in book six of Zara Keen's Movie Club Mysteries!

Maggie Doyle's business has fallen since the publicity of the last murder she solved. The only case she has is looking for Trudy Nelson's prize winning cat, Quibbles, who had disappeared and appears to be very elusive. While looking for Quibbles, Maggie runs into Theresa Crawley, owner of one of the food trucks on the island with a questionable reputation and a long list of people who flat out don't like her. It seems Theresa is getting threatening letters and wants Maggie to look into it at least until they run into Lenny who surprises both Maggie and Theresa leading and Maggie ends up falling down stairs and breaking her wrist.

Then things look up for Maggie when Con Rider, director of the movie being filmed on Dolphin Island and starring her sister Beth, offers her a job to look into suspicious accidents happening around the set and her sister thinks some one is after her. Things get serious when Theresa Crawley shows up as an extra and then during a cast party, suddenly dies and they later find out it was murder. Both Maggie and Lenny go undercover as extras to find out what's going on but will they solve it before one of them becomes the next victim?

This book was well worth the wait and together with Maggie's accident prone nature and Lenny's...well Lenny being Lenny, the book had some funny moments for those who like a little humor with their cozy mystery. The fact this series takes place in Ireland is an added bonus. This is one of my favorite series and if you like cozies and haven't tried this series, then give this one a look.

Please note: I was given a copy of this book by the author. All opinions expressed are my own.

I was so excited to see a new book in the Movie Club Mysteries series from Zara Keane. It's a fun cozy mystery series with a great setting and very interesting and sometimes odd characters.

Private Investigator Maggie Doyle is on the hunt for her latest case -- finding one of the resident's cat -- and that isn't going very well. When she's asked to investigate some potentially dangerous accidents on the local movie set, she is on the case, along with her partner Lenny.

It seems that everyone on Whisper Island wants to be an extra in the movie, so Maggie and Lenny fit in nicely as they go undercover (sort of) to find out who is causing the multitude of accidents on set. Complicating the situation is Maggie's sister is one of the actors in the movie, and things between them aren't so great. And that's not the only thing that might keep things interesting -- she's got an injury that could put her at risk if things get dicey and of course they do!

I just really love this series. It's so much fun to read. The characters are always eye-rolling interesting (and I mean that in a good way), and the core team of Maggie and Lenny are just wonderful. They really click together. And I'm so ecstatic to have Liam getting a little more page time. I've loved the slow development of Maggie and Liam's relationship and Zara Keane does a great job of showing a whole lot of emotion between these two in very few lines. Another thing I absolutely adore about these characters.

So if you like a cozy mystery with a fantastic female heroine, a quirky assistant, and a swoony policeman who tries to keep the two of them from going too far, you might just like this story and series.

An ARC was provided. This is my honest review.

"Some Like It Shot", Book Six of the Movie Club Mystery series by Zara Keane is finally here and it was well worth the wait.

Maggie Doyle is back working from her Movie Reel Investigations office on Ireland's Whisper Island. She and her private eye partner Lenny are involved in a variety of cases from finding a missing show cat to tracking down a murderer.

Most of Book Six takes place on nearby Dolphin Island at Dunfarrig Castle with its mysterious Poison Garden. Maggie's sister is filming a movie there. Author Zara Keane nicely includes many of our favorite Whisper Island characters by casting them as extras in the movie.

Lest we've become a bit hazy about some of the regular Movie Club characters, Keane subtly and seamlessly reminds the reader what roles they've played in past stories. At the same time her writing technique serves to bring new readers up to speed without slowing down the story for series followers. This also allows Book Six (as with all the others) to stand alone.

Red herrings, twists and turns abound as the reader shares the action with Maggie and her cohorts to the very end. Also on scene is Maggie's boyfriend, Sheriff Liam Reynolds to assist in solving the murder and to add a dash of romance. All in all, a very enjoyable read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Some Like It Shot is the latest installment in Zara Keane’s Movie Club Mysteries, featuring Maggie Doyle, a one-time San Francisco cop now working as a private investigator on the small Irish island where her father grew up and where Maggie spent summers as a child. Business is slow: her main case involves searching for a wandering Maine Coon cat. Then an American movie company arrives on the island. Maggie’s younger sister, an online “Beauty Influencer” (yes, apparently this is a Thing, although I have trouble wrapping my brain around it), has landed her first movie role—as the female lead.

Maggie is not thrilled; she and her sister have a rather dysfunctional relationship. But the movie shoot has been plagued with “accidents,” and Maggie and her off-the-wall assistant Lenny are hired to sniff out any possible sabotage. Maggie and her boyfriend, the sergeant in charge of the tiny Whisper Island police station, suspect that most of the accidents were just that, but when there’s a death on the set the danger ramps up quickly.

I really enjoy this series (this is the sixth book) with its mixture of mystery, humor, and small town Irish life (I did have to look up the pronunciation of a couple of names: the Irish clearly have their own version of the alphabet) and I hope there will be many more.

Clients are rather thin on the ground for Maggie these days.   She's reduced to finding lost felines.  Hence when a not-so-pleasant food truck owner says she's been receiving threatening letters, and doesn't trust the Gardaí, Maggie is already planning the investigation.  Till they get back to her office and find a dead body.

Turns out it was Lenny.  He'd thought it a good practical joke.  And the would-be client wants nothing to do with either of them!

It's not long though, before Movie Reel Investigations are involved in a case that will put them well into the black.  Maggie's sister Beth is in town with a production company, shooting her first movie.  But there's a saboteur on set, and it looks like Beth could be the intended victim.  They want Maggie to find the culprit.

This fast paced, edge-of-your-seat tale will keep you guessing right till the moment the villain is unveiled!  The characters have by now become friends, and I can't wait to see what Maggie and Lenny get into next!

Whisper Island PI Maggie Doyle and her associate Lenny are back and their adventures are always entertaining, filled with humorous situations and characters throughout. Her sister is making her movie debut and after several questionable accidents, Maggie is hired as an undercover extra on the movie set on nearby Dolphin Island. After injuring her right arm in a tumble with an ill-tempered potential client and the stalled case of a valuable missing Maine Coon cat, Maggie and Lenny are ready to get into costume and discover who is sabotaging the set. I love the diverse characters and Zara Keane has created some especially memorable ones for this book. The Irish setting with a castle and a poison garden makes for a fascinating mystery and I was immediately captivated. Quibbles, the missing feline, will make a timely appearance and Sergeant Liam, Maggie’s boyfriend, will find there is a link to his current stolen jewels case. This is the perfect escape for a stressful time and I highly recommend the entire series. Although I received an ARC, this review is my honest opinion.

It was so good to get back to Whisper Island, Ireland and my character friends there. Maggie and Lenny definitely didn't disappoint in the comedy department. It started out funny and while there wasn't constant haha-ing, it was consistent and always a good surprise when the hilarity started. The killer was a total surprise to me. The cantankerous cat Quibbles that Maggie had been hired to find and had attacked Lenny earlier (it was described as very funny though, no humans were completely maimed) did come in handy later in the book.

I was happy that Liam and Maggie stayed in a good place in their relationship despite some crazy antics on the movie set that they were both investigating which didn't give them a lot of time together. The book had all the makings for a funny comedic mystery movie!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the author via BookFunnel, and my opinions are my own. This comes out Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Some Like It Shot is the sixth Movie Club Mystery by Zara Keane. This is a series that is a hoot to read. This installment being no different as the investigator, Maggie Doyle and associates go undercover on a local movie set.

I dare anyone not to laugh out laugh as Lenny finds his place in the world of acting. His experiences and his enjoyment of them are a true work of writing art. It is sad that Maggie doesn’t have nearly as much fun but it is good to see her interactions with a sibling. Some things about Maggie become clearer. Of course, Liam, boyfriend and a police sergeant also makes more than one appearance on the movie set.

Lovely, funny story which was just what I needed to read. I bet you will enjoy it too if you like cozy mysteries with unusual characters.

I've read and loved each of the Movie Club Mysteries so far. Maggie always seems to be caught up in some kind of craziness and this book is no different. She and her whacky assistant, Lenny, get pulled into some mysterious "acccidents" surrounding a movie shoot, one in which her sister, Beth (aka Eliza) is the lead. The question is whether they are truly accidents or is someone trying to sabotage the movie or specifically out to get Eliza. Add in the ever abrasive Theresa and things get truly interesting. Thanks to a run-in with Theresa, Maggie is left to deal with all the craziness one-handed and under the influence of pain meds. There are definite times that left me chuckling. There are twists and turns and an engaging collection of characters (Con, Coco, Harper, Judd, to name a few) and of course, Maggie's boyfriend, Liam. Can't wait to see what happens next for Maggie and Liam, and whether we'll see more of Eliza and Luke...

In the sixth installment of the Movie Club Mysteries, ex-cop, current P.I., and dead body magnet Maggie Doyle is struggling to find work. Her only job is to find a prize-winning Maine Coon named Quibbles, and she’s having no luck. She almost has a job, but then it falls through. But everything changes when a movie shoot begins on Dolphin Island and she’s hired by the director to find out who is causing trouble on the set.

Maggie goes undercover at he movie set and begins to poke around. But there seem to be no shortage of suspects, and what’s worse, Maggie’s sister is one of the stars, and perhaps the target of the troublemaker. Things begin to get deadly when the person who wanted to hire Maggie before ends up dead, and she becomes a key suspect. Can she figure out what’s going on? Or is she destined to meet her end in pursuit of the culprit?

This is one of the best books so far. With family drama, huge revelations, and lots of funny moments, Some Like It Shot has charm, humor, and plenty of intriguing new characters. With many of the characters we’ve come to know and love (or loathe in some cases), this book will draw you even farther into the world of Whisper Island. You will want more of the characters and the world long after the last page. Just watch out for the Maine Coon.

I really enjoyed this book. I always enjoy Zara Keane’s stories. In This one Maggie is injured before she can even start her investigation into the real problem. Maggie is at a disadvantage. I like the characters that were introduced into this story. I enjoyed reading about Maggie and her sister. I always did like Maggie’s assistant, he is funny and this story puts him in his realm of different makeup and costumes. We can’t forget the boyfriend he is there to lend a hand to Maggie’s investigation, but he also has his own investigation that he is trying to solve. Of course all the investigations gets nicely wrapped up at the end.

Maggie Doyle is working on a missing pet case (anything to pay the bills) when she's approached by the least liked food truck vendor to find out who has been sending her death threats.

Her sister is filming a movie in the area, and there have been multiple "accidents" and Beth is certain that the accidents are being targeted towards her. So Maggie and Lenny are hired to try and find who's sabotaging the film. With a much needed bonus from the film company if she succeeds.

Another fun story in the series, it had developed characters, a strong plot line, and some humor mixed in also.

Great cozy mystery! This is the sixth book in the cozy mystery series. Maggie and Lenny have several cases to solve. There is the case of a missing cat, Quibbles, some trouble on a movie set, and her police officer boyfriend also has a case that he needs her help with. All the humor and great characters that you can want are here! Her sister is back in the series- they still have a tenuous relationship. With a movie set, there are even more interesting details. And, of course, a murder of one who has a reputation for rubbing people the wrong way. It was a fantastic read! The ending was hilarious with a surprising hero! Cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I love spending time on Whisper Island with Maggie and her quirky friends. I also enjoyed my 'visit' to Dolphin Island and was fascinated with the poison garden. I had never heard of such a thing, but now I know it is based on the real thing! I especially loved learning how to pronounce Irish names (of course, I had to google them first!) Phonics were no help here.

This complicated mystery has surprising secrets, murder, mayhem, and an unexpected ally to help save the day! With no explicit sex or language, I find Maggie and her cohorts is always good, clean fun. I highly recommend this series!

SOME LIKE IT SHOT......Zara Keane
Teresa asks her to find out who is sending her threading letters, coming in her post office mail box. Six months, about twenty of them. Was it from an unhappy restaurant owner, of a food truck, and why her, and not the police. A movie to take place with her sister in it, things are happening on the set and Maggie and Lenny are asked to investigate by going undercover. He is loving it and she doesn’t. Then the woman accusing Maggie is murdered. Another murder, for this ex cop to solve. These are always enjoyable. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

This was my introduction to Zara Keane and the Movie Club Mysteries series. I’m hooked!
Maggie and her assistant Lenny are funny, quirky and determined. I found myself laughing out loud at some of their antics.
This book was so much fun to read. Zara makes the characters believable and you can envision them in your head while reading.
This book has it all-an unlikable food truck owner, somewhat estranged sister, death threats, a poison garden (how cool is that), Ireland! and a missing cat! How could you not love this book? C’mon, a Maine Coone cat named Quibbles! Love it!
Thank you Zara Keane for the ARC. I now have to read the first 5 books!

Some Like It Shot (Movie Club Mysteries, #6), my seventh read from author Zara Keane. A fast-paced, enjoyable, well-written mystery with well-developed characters, a captivating storyline, and an island whose inhabitants grow on you with every word written. Each book in this series has been better than the last. Since I own more than a dozen of her books it won't be my last! I look forward to the next book in this series. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll definitely be reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Once again Zara Keane produces a entertaining mystery with a healthy dose of humor and a dash of romance. Ms. Keane moves the characters and relationships of Maggie, Liam, and Lenny forward while constructing an interesting mystery (I had figured out only a small part of the solution by the end) that will keep readers engaged and entertained. You can read this book (or any of them) out of order but there is a lot of context you'll miss if you do.

I received an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Trust me, I wouldn't recommend a book a didn't like.

I love this series "Movie Club Mysteries". This is book 6 and Maggie and Lenny are still as fun as ever. In this book Maggie manages to get the bad person with on hand tied behind her back, okay not tied but in a sling. It's a great read and I look forward to another adventure with the Whisper Island gang. Zara Keane is an amazing author. This series has all the things I love great writing takes place in Ireland is a cozy mystery with a bit of laughs. 5 stars for sure!

Maggie is searching for a missing Maine Coon cat. She is hired by a food truck owner to find out who is threatening her. And there is a movie shoot going on and she is hired to find out who is sabotaging the movie set. Plenty of adventure and nonstop action. In the midst of all of this, a jewelry smuggling is thrown into the mix. Are they all intertwined? Is each one a separate case? Join Maggie and Lenny and the rest of the people as she delves into the clues to solve all of the cases. You'll be glad you did.
