Oldest cousin and brother dragon Zeke has resigned himself to being the one lone dragon in his family. As his brother and cousins find their mates one by one, he ignores their protests that he'll find own love someday soon, and contents himself with caring for their growing brood of babies. As the one who's been around the longest, Zeke has learned that he can't always have what he desperately wants, and that he can be happy with what he has.
Gareth has never felt like he fully fit in with his pack. As the one who doesn't shift, he's not an outcast, but he's definitely living on the fringes. Lately, he finds himself looking up the mountain even more than he did a a child, wondering what the seemingly ageless dragons he's heard stories of all his life are up to. A chance meeting with a dragon named Zeke during a visit to negotiate supply routes tells Gareth that the dragons are not the horror he's been told they are, and he can't help his curiosity.
When a new danger threatens the very existence of his pack, Gareth starts a trek up the mountain to ask for help. With Zeke he finds more than he bargains for, but can he convince the old dragon of the mountain that neither one of them has to be the odd man out?
Minerva Howe is the kinky alter ego of author Julia Talbot. Julia lives in the great Southwest, where there is hot and cold running rodeo, cowboys, and everything from meat and potatoes to the best Tex-Mex. A full time author, Julia has been published by Samhain as well as other publishing houses. She believes that everyone deserves a happy ending, so she writes about love without limits, where boys love boys, girls love girls, and boys and girls get together to get wild, especially when her crazy paranormal characters are involved.
Totally bummed that this awesome series is over. Ms. Howe is one incredibly talented author and knows how to write characters that grab your heart and don't let go!!!
The short and sweet of it is that I have been waiting for Zeke's book since he first threated to eat Justin in book 1. It was so obvious how much of a protector he was with his ice dragon family. As the series continued I fell in love with the rainbow eyed dragon more and more. I didn't know if he'd ever find a mate who deserved him, but thankfully he found it in Gareth.
Gareth was such a kind soul and he was a perfect fit for both Zeke and the growing dragon family. He found his niche caring for the children and teaching them all he could. Even when he was pregnant, Gareth always wanted to help whoever he could. Zeke just adored him. Though this is the last book of this particular series, there appears to be a setup for another spin off coming. I've enjoyed both the fire and the ice dragons of this universe and can't help but wonder what type of dragons Howe will give us next.
This is a lovely addition to a cosy, heartwarming series of Dragons, Mates, babies, relationships and food! This time it’s Zeke, we’ve waited a long time for the oldest to get his mate, strangely he’s been on the periphery for years. Gareth is the perfect addition to the Dragon household. The Wolf pack is more involved in this one, we have a rogue to deal with and more of the prophecy. But through it all, it’s family and bonding! If you like books that are heavily into food and babies this is a must read. Sometimes it just fills a need!
Finding a series so good you go and get everything from that author you can find is a great feeling. So I'm feeling a bit bittersweet that the series is over. I still have plenty of Minerva things to go through, but it is still is sad to say bye to this dragon family. I'm crossing my fingers they might cameo in other series, and totally plan to get them all
I've been waiting for Zeke's book and it definitely did not disappoint. I loved both Zeke and Gareth and thought they made a great couple. I also loved that we got to spend a lot of time with the various children. Though I must say it was a bit hard to keep track of who belonged to which couple. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I hope that even though we've gone through all the brothers/cousins that there will be a way to visit this family in the future.
Yay! So happy for Zeke to finally have his story, his mate and his HEA. Gareth is someone met briefly in the previous book and they made an instant impact. Outside influences kept them apart but there's no denying the pull of those meant to be in your life and Gareth finds his way back up the mountain to the clan that seems to have exploded with mates and babies since book one of the series. Together, these two bring heart and love to the whole family, protectiveness runs strong through both of them but especially Zeke with him being the eldest of the family. Poor Gareth for what he has been through to get to his perfect person, it doesn't stop once he gets there with a little bit of drama that keeps the family on their toes for a minute. There's a lot of fun to be had with all of the children that now run under foot but Seb especially just grabs your heart for being so young but is clearly growing into a mini Zeke, it's so adorable! The family show their strengths throughout with their close bonds, love and belief for each other. I'd recommend reading in order, especially as you work through as more characters are added to family. There are a lot to keep track of. It's hectic, semi organised chaos and it is clearly what they all love and live for. I adore this series. It's so well written and the characters are so enjoyable. There are hints of what's to come and I can't wait to see where it leads. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Alpha Zeke and leader of his family, is the only one left who has not gotten his mate and babies. From the very first book, he was known as the complete grump and wanted to eat any outsiders. Bit by bit, the ice around his heart melted - beginning with the birth of his nephew, Sebastian "Sebby". He is definitely the 'baby whisperer' of the clan. Seeing a different side of Zeke made me realize he needed an extraordinary mate to dote on. And that is just what he got.
Omega Gareth - from the beginning - never felt like he belonged with his pack. Eyes always to the mountains, he never shifted as a wold and was treated as an outsider and hated by his father. When his mother passed, he truly was alone - until one day, he wasn't Determined to make it to the mountains, he holds a strong affinity for Zeke, He know he belongs with the dragons, but not sure where he fits. Ingrained that you must do your part or be rejected, acceptance was all he ever wanted. He found so much more.
Gareth learned who he truly was and exactly how powerful. Zeke found the fated mate and complete family he'd always wanted. The dragon clan grew exponentially, fun familiars, reconciled families and saving the day of shifters.
I'm so thrilled to see watch of these dragons have their HEA, but also equally saddened to see this particular series come to a close. I look forward to more of the dragons in a future series.
**I received this ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**
Independent reviewer for gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book. This is book 5 in the Dragon Sanctuary series. I read book one, but didn't really enjoy it. Something called to me when I read this blurb, and I'm so glad I listened. Its really deligthful tale of binding your time, and just waiting for the right person to come along. As the eldest dragon, Zeke has resigned himself to be alone. But a lonely wolf piques his interest. When Gareth comes up the mountain for help, Zeke is more drawn to the wolf than ever. Can they really be made for each other? This was a wonderful read, it really was. I got to catch up with the couple from the first book I had read, and read about the other couples and the children that have arrived. SO many children, it took me a little while to put everyone in order and who they belonged to! I loved the reason why Gareth couldn't shift into a wolf, I wasn't quite expecting that but it does explain a lot of his father's behaviour. It's not overly explicit, finding their alone time was a bit tricky for Gareth and Zeke, but there is so much LOVE in this book. Both Zeke and Gareth have their say, and I loved that. A thoroughly enjoyable (much more than book one!) read 4 solid stars *same worded review will appear elsewhere
The last Dragon Sanctuary book! I’ve been so excited for Zeke’s book since the beginning and I really enjoyed this one.
Zeke is the protector of the dragon clan - he’s their guardian, their confidante, their Zee, their best friend…especially all the babies. He’s been lonely for years, especially as his brother and cousins found their mates and started families of their own. Gareth is an outcast among the wolves but feels a draw to the mountains and the dragons that he can’t explain or avoid. He spent so many years being denied a loving family and home that he craves what the dragons have built.
These two were really sweet together. Their bond is really apparent from the beginning and Zeke’s protective nature extends to Gareth once he makes the mountain his home. I really liked seeing how they evolved together and how the entire dragon family was so accepting and welcoming of Gareth and everything he brought with him. All of the babies and familiars made things chaotic and crazy and a little difficult to keep straight at times, but it was a fun read regardless. Zeke and Gareth belong together and I’m really hoping to see more of them, their babies and all of the dragon clan in future Minerva Howe stories!
Zeke is resigned to the fact that he will not have a mate and children as his brother and cousins now have. He has decided to be happy babysitting his amazing nieces and nephews and plans to do everything possible to keep them safe. Meanwhile at the bottom of their mountain, Gareth has always felt like he was on the fringes with his pack as he cannot shift. When he is sent away, he decides to leave for the mountain and for Zeke. He met him when peace was being negotiated and Gareth is more comfortable with him than his own pack. When he arrives, Gareth knows this is where he belongs.
Gareth had a tough childhood. He felt his father did not want him around and did everything he could to keep him from the dragons. But Gareth realizes the dragons are not monsters and that he enjoys their company. Zeke really needed and deserved someone to love and Gareth feels right. Their story is wonderfully amazing. It was great fun seeing the kids grow and change, experiencing everything life can give them. They are all unique and each contributes something. The familiars add a little bit of flavor to the excitement of all the young dragons. There is more to this story coming as things are changing. How? Who knows? We will have to wait for the next book/series.
Dragon shifter Zeke has been the family protector and the rock that his family has leaned on for years. One by one he has watched his brothers find their mates. He has turned into the baby whisperer for all his nieces and nephews. He loves the way their family has grown but he doubts that there would ever be anyone for him. Then he meets Gareth, a wolf shifter who can't shift. He is drawn to Gareth but when Gareth goes back to the wolf pack, he figures that it wasn't meant to be. However he can't get Gareth out of his head so he is planning to check on him when Gareth suddenly reappears. This time Zeke isn't letting him leave.
Gareth has always been made to feel like a failure by his father because he couldn't shift. He is tired of the pity he always sees in his packmates eyes. They give him jobs to keep him busy and make him feel a part of things. But Gareth is happiest watching the dragons fly and helping protect the dragons from the outside world. Gareth goes against the wishes of his father and alpha and rejoins the dragons on the mountain. He would do whatever it takes to be near Zeke. However since he isn't a dragon, they can't be fated mates.
This book rocks! It’s back to the Dragon Sanctuary and it’s finally Zeke’s turn! The oldest of the brothers/cousins and he will finally get his chance at happiness with his mate. It’s been a tough road for Zeke to watch all his brothers/cousins find their forever mates. He feels joy for them and the children they bring, whom Zeke loves dearly, but he is a little sad and sure he won’t get that for himself. It will come, though, in the form of a wolf that can’t shift - Gareth. I love the way their relationship develops and how Zeke is so very content with what fate has chosen to give him. The dragon’s home is full of the usual craziness of lots of young children and Sebby, the oldest of the young, is outstanding in his new role as protector. There is a bit of Gareth’s past that they will have to deal with but it will lead them to a wonderful future full of love, happiness, and more children!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
I really adored Zeke and Gareth. Zeke was just wonderful with his mate. Gareth never felt like he belonged anywhere until he met the dragons, especially Zeke. Then he knew exactly where he was supposed to be. I liked how Zeke didn’t push Gareth away. He embraced him and made him feel welcome and part of the family. Gareth’ lemon obsession was quite adorable.
The chaos comes in the form of all the characters jam packed into this book. From all the cousins, to the children, to the other people living in the area. It felt like Zeke and Gareth got lost in all the side character scenes. Mostly I just wanted more of Zeke and Gareth bonding and starting a life together, but we really got Gareth the baby sitter or Zeke the baby whisperer.
Overall, this was a cute read but could have used some trimming with the side character scenes. More Zeke and Gareth would have made this a better read for me. 3.5 stars rounded up.
I loved everything about Zeke, and he really needed someone special to be his mate. Gareth was that. Zeke was the last one to find his mate & he was sure he would not be blessed with one or children of his own. Gareth has always turned his eyes up the mountain and had a huge crush on Zeke. When Gareth's father sends him down the mountain, he knows he doesn't belong, so he heads to the one place he knows he does, that is to the dragons. Gareth also doesn't believe he is a dragon, will have Zeke's babies & is worthy of being the mate to Zeke. Zeke knows better. I loved watching the interactions of the family & all the babies. I was worried that now with everyone finding their mates this would be the end of the series. But there is change coming and I can't wait where we go from here whether it's a continuation of this series or a spinoff.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion
I have been looking forward to Zeke's story all through this series. Zeke is the character that has come the furthest in some ways. Zeke is protective of his family and he was not welcoming at first to outsiders but over time he is not only welcoming as each of the mates arrive, he is protective, loving, supportive and a favorite of the babies. But he was on his own until Gareth arrived to complete the crew and bring Zeke the love he deserves. Gareth, who never felt like he belonged in his pack, could not have wound up in a better place with a better partner. Zeke and Gareth are so good together and for one another. As in previous stories these lovers feel the pull toward one another and together there is growth, love, acceptance and Gareth is pulled into this strong loving family group. This was so good and such a good final story in this series. But I will also miss these characters. They are all so endearing. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another in the series in which a dragon, unbeknownst to him, is discovered masquerading as something he's not. Gareth has been raised to believe he's a wolf that can't shift and is mistreated by his "father" as a result. Yet he's always yearned for the high elevations where the dragons live, and where one particular dragon, Zeke, has caught and held his attention. Zeke is the oldest dragon in residence, the protector, the fun uncle, and he thinks his chance at a mate has passed until Gareth comes for a visit and Zeke recognizes who he is to him. then the story becomes predictable, though it was clear from Beau's story that Gareth and Zeke would be next. It's fine as far as it goes, but there's no real chemistry between them before they sleep together, and afterward, it's very bland, even when Gareth's "father" attacks and is defeated and Gareth's dragon is revealed. It was just okay...nothing exciting. I wanted more for Zeke...or maybe it was for me?
The charming and tantalizing story of Zeke and Gareth. A great last book in the Dragon Sanctuary series. Zeke is the protector of the Dragon Sanctuary BUT he is also the protector of his heart. His heart's desire has always been near him. He just needs to recognize it. Gareth longed for acceptance from his wolf relatives even though he was cursed because he just couldn't shift. His inability was a mystery to him. He looked to the dragon mountain with a longing he wished he could fulfill. Traveling up to this mountain via Zeke's dragon starts the beginning of Gareth's quest of self-discovery and love. This is an endearing story of revelations for both Zeke and Gareth within a tale full of brothers, cousins, lots of kids, and a marvelous rendition of passing through the veil. This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.
I was so excited for Zeke’s book and it was just as amazing as I expected
I have been looking forward to Zeke’s book since Samuel and Justin’s book. I have a soft spot for characters who often feel more on the outside and watching Zeke slowly find his place in his family again, feel safe and secure in his place was so lovely. To then get to see him find his HEA was perfect. Gareth made so much sense as his mate. I think Zeke really needed someone who understood feeling separate but also needed protecting and caring for whilst still being strong. Gareth was exactly that. He was a great mix of vulnerable and strong. As usual we got to see the whole family (and the lovely wolves who are like extended family) enjoying their new lives filled with happiness, laughter and little ones. I’m intrigued by the ending and what it means for the next series and I’m really hoping we get to visit Keegan and the rest of the wolves again. This was a lovely end to this series whilst also a perfect opening for the next.
The kids make the story! I don't want Zeke's story to be the end of this family. Gareth, is amazing and brave. I like how he goes after what he wants. Minerva, did an excellent job giving us a snapshot on how everyone is doing and opening a few doors to what could be future stories. Zeke, has always been a rock and the most loving uncle to the kids. He has been everyone's biggest supporter and it's good watching him look at Gareth with new eyes. I would have loved to wrap up in the love and warmth of this story for about 200 more pages. There is a bit of scary action that keeps the eyes open. I look forward to seeing Sebbie grow up! The series and all the related series are excellent. It is best if you can read them in order.Good story. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Finally Zekes Book! This was the one I was waiting for and it did not disappoint. This is one of my go-to authors for dragons and shifters and Zeke lonely eldest dragon was the story that I was waiting for. Zeke and Gareth have great chemistry together. We met Gareth previously and I was interested in his story from that point. Zeke sort of resigned himself to being alone and since he has so many nieces and nephews he has become the favorite bachelor uncle. Taking care of all the little ones. Gareth on the other hand has had a hard time fitting in with the other wolves because he can't shift and the stories of dragons and them being awful were grossly exaggerated. I really liked their story hopefully we see more in this world! Definitely recommend this and the previous books in the world.
I have read every book in this series and I have been waiting for Zeke’s story. He’s a fierce protector with a huge heart. He has so much love to give, that I just wanted him to get his HEA so bad. Zeke may have given up on love but fate had other plans.
Gareth has always been on outcast. He’s a werewolf who can’t shift in a pack that doesn’t fully understand him. Most of the pack has no issue with him, but his own dad doesn’t want him around. Gareth can’t explain why, but he just needs to be near Zeke. If the best he can get us to hang out with all the dragons he’ll take it. Gareth moves on with the dragons and quickly finds his place.
Once the two live under the same roof they can’t deny they’re mates. Their romance is so sweet. I adore both of them, and their story was perfect. I need to read more in this shared world since I’ve loved every book I have read.
I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.
The long-awaited mating for Zeke! After watching Zeke go from the grumpy, snappy (literally) dragon who bites first and doesn't worry about questions later to beloved uncle to all the babies and brave protector of mates, I've been rooting for his HEA and it does not disappoint.
After a lifetime of not being good enough, Gareth finally gets the chance to go up the mountain and be with the dragons. While both men don't understand why they have such a strong connection, they pull closer and closer until nothing matters except being with each other.
This book has everything the previous books have, all the babies and familiars, so much love and laughter, along with Zeke and Gareth finding their own love. It is everything I was hoping for.
OMG!! I loved it!!! Zeek finally gets to realise his attraction to Gareth is real and Gareth gets to realise his dreams. The other dragons who had all found their mates and had babies are happy for them both. There is danger again but Gareth finds his amazing dragon from within and protects everyone. The dragons who have all been born to the other couples are growing and multiplying as their parents have been getting busy. Sebby is definitely mini Zeek and the other babies have the most amazing traits, I loved them all. Such an amazing imagination this author has to have me waiting for each one of these stories to publish. I absolutely loved each one. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
I was so glad to see Zeke finally get his hea and babies. I was happy to see Gareth get answers as to why he looked to the dragons and who he truly was. This book has all the feels, plenty of heat and answers for Gareth. I loved this story and was so happy for all the familiars, families, and babies. Such a great story throughout that really followed the themes of the series. This book definitely ended with questions. I'm hoping that what's to come comes back to visit these dragons. I'm also eager for more of the wolves, as our next pairing was foreshadowed. This book was the perfect ending for this group of dragons, but left this open for more. I can't wait to see where this world goes next with future series.
I am so glad to finally read Zeke's story it's been a long time coming for him to have true happiness. Gareth is the perfect mate for Zeke. It was sad hearing how he was treated by his "father" but found the perfect family with tons of children who adore him. I'm hoping that the next series is a continuation of this great series as I really want to find out what Arian was talking about when she came to visit Gareth and Zeke's twins her little announcement really has me intrigued. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
I really hope the author decides to put this series in audio format with John Solo (5 stars) doing the narration. Would love to hear him do all the voices I would definitely buy the series.
So glad Zeke finally got his own mate and family. Hurrah, really good to read his story.
If you are reading this review then you would be best off finding the first book of the dragon sanctuary series and starting there*. Or even further back to the previous dragon series. This book sees the last member of the family mated, each book in this series has seen one 'brother' mated, so I assume it is the last in this series. Hopefully to be followed by a new series? There is definitely a hint at a longer plot arc in the book.
*You could technically read this as a stand alone romance if you didn't want to engage in the world building but it wouldn't be as good.
Frozen Dragon is the fifth and last book in the Dragon Sanctuary series. Fantastic conclusion to the series! This story sucked me right in and kept me engaged! Zeke is the oldest and last to find his mate. He’s been lonely and feels like he has a connection with Gareth, the wolf that lives down the mountain. Gareth has never felt like he fit in and watches up the mountain, searching for what he doesn’t know. Loved, loved, loved Zeke and Gareth. Fantastic secondary characters and lots of babies! We do get a hint as to what is to come next. Overall, a phenomenal ending to the series. Well written with addicting pacing.
Zeke and Gareth story was interesting with a side of mystery and danger. I was thrilled to see how Zeke finds his happiness and it was a pleasant surprise to find out that Gareth is his mate. Gareth has a lot of healing to do, he needs lots of love and acceptance that he finds with Zeke and his family. He thinks he's defective as a wolf who doesn't shift but a big surprise awaits him when he discovers he's a dragon. I loved how loving and attentive Zeke is with Gareth, how loved he's by the children and his new family. I adored that all the brothers are now mated with children and I’m really excited for the new mystery that unfolds.
So, I'm reading it after only reading the first book and waiting on Zeke's story (I looked for Gareth in previous books and apparently he was called Gabriel and then it changed to Gareth in the same page, so... that was confusing).
But now I'm confused about Spirit, can someone explain it to me? Before the cute bear appears in the shower scene, this scene happens: "Zeke slipped away while the babies and Gareth were napping, SPIRIT curled around the outer circle of them"
So... was Spirit already part of the story? This is not the first time he appeared in the series?
Zeke’s story! Yeeeeessss! I have been not so patiently waiting for the grumpy old dragon to get his mate and I just knew Gareth would be perfect for him. This whole family is special and I have loved all of these related books so much. (I also tend to be rather fond of dragons in general.) These characters have taken over my heart and drawn me along for the ride as their world and the magic changes. Now that this set of dragons have all met their mates, I can’t wait to see what happens next. I love this whole universe and desperately want my CO dragons to meet my UT dragons!
