Each Lipstick & Leather chapter is a standalone, full-length, Contemporary Reverse Harem Romance set in a shared world where ladies ride hard and shatter glass ceilings.
Emma Cole is a multi-genre romance author covering everything from dark and light contemporary to paranormal and sci-fi. Almost all of her stories are, or will be, from the reverse harem subcategory, and none of them skimp on the heat.
This was easily one of the worst reverse harem I’ve read so far.
The insta love didn’t even make sense and a fcking pregnancy !! + they fcking disappear after it. I swear to god nothing made sense
I honestly didn’t understand half of what I read and the relationships between her and the men went from “hello” to “youre mine forever” in 2 seconds and it’s not even a fated mates story so it just doesn’t make sense.
The smut wasn’t well written at all. I had trouble understand who was doing what at some point.
Definitely not reading something else from this author. Thank god the book was short and I was able to push through it and finis it it.
Sevyn is my first read from author Emma Cole. It is a quick read at 176 pages, and a standalone in the Lipstick & Leather Motorcycle Club series.
I enjoyed reading it but felt the story was incomplete, with at least one major plot hole. However, that aside, the story itself is sweet and ends in a HEA. It seemed tame for an MC romance, higher focus on the romance and less on the darker aspects of MCs. Sevyn is supposed to be a bad@ss MC prez but she doesn’t act as I would expect, seeming passive instead of assertive.
Big, big oof. While there are books where you don’t notice how short they are, with this one you definitely do.
There was literally zero proper introduction to anything??? Characters, plot— wait, who is who and what is happening… Even with the alternate name index it’s as if everything is thrown at you. The pacing of the story is so bad, so weird and all over the place… This happened, that happened and this as well for what feels like at the same time. It’s super rushed and jumpy.
I would never pick this up again nor would I recommend this to anyone.
*I received an arc of this book for my honest review*
So this is my first read from Emma Cole and I did really enjoy it. I did feel like the book was a little rushed. I feel like it had great potential to be so much more, but for whatever reason it was decided to be fast paced. Not that I don't enjoy a fast paced book, I just wish there was more focus on certain parts.
Severine and her guys were great and I really did enjoy their dynamic which is why I wish we had more of them. Overall, I liked the story and will definitely be checking out more from Emma.
4+ stars! This book is in the Leather and Lipstick world. Sevyn is opening up a new chapter and decided to let loose. She hooks up with the Bordeaux cousins and there bestie, Marines on leave the night before they get deployed. They decide to exchange information so they meet on their next leave. Well of course that doesn't happen, months later she repeatedly leaves messages she's pregnant, nada. She finally finds someone who informed her they're dead. Fast forward 2 years and they show up at her compound. Some drama happens but they plus their fourth buddy all become entangled with her, much to the chagrin of her VP and local Sherrif. I liked the story.
I'm genuinely shocked this is the same author as Lark... I loved that duet, but this was unfortunately terrible. I was expecting a badass female president with other women in the club, but we got a leader who didn't know what she's doing and completely oblivious to things going on, and surrounded by men who didn't respect her. She spoke to her daughter a total of 3 times in the entire book, and her aunt acted more as a mum to Opal. And there was literally no good explanation why the cousins didn't get in touch as soon as they came back from the army... it just had major plot points skipped over, and we heard mentions of things happening but never got to read. So much was glossed over it was all kind of disjointed to read. The smut kinda saved it in parts, but even then, it was still 'meh'
Sorry, but I really just didn’t like this. The way the author wrote the pregnancy was so strange?? Where did the men go?? Why were they so mad?? What the hell happened?? Too many gaps and was just so confusing and unclear.
Little to no plot and the writing style was not my cup of tea.
I loved the story and the characters but felt lost a few times. Sometimes it would be a character getting called by a completely new name (using their MC name and then using their legal name). Other times it was an overload of information (I’m talking about the ending) and maybe it’s just my head completely misunderstanding but I felt like some things were skipped over. There’s mention of her enforcer and a few others in the MC but with them not being in the story enough, I found when they were mentioned again that I would forget who they even were. Especially going from MC names to legal names.
For example, we had Gus Boudreaux/Gentry(this was used literally once..)/Octavius(I assume O is Gus?). Preppy/Ares/Jesse O’Brien. Lochlan Boudreaux/Loch (this was straight forward obv.). Cooter/Levi/Coot. And Boudreaux gets tossed out there without knowing it’s Gus/Loch’s last name, so you have to make the assumption.
Very possibly my brain while reading at 4am but I felt lost.
I also felt like the beginning was lacking. They went from having a one night stand with next to no talking to immediately wanting to make more of it after sex. And when the guys came back, the reasoning for them being gone was very bland and didn’t feel like it explained why. They’re also complete d-bags to Sev and it’s not really explained why other than they assumed she moved on when she promised not to? Which brings it back to why they were gone and not communicating but not receiving Sev’s messages? And who told Sev they were MIA? This wasn’t brought up again either.
None of this truly detracts from the story and the relationships and I never felt like I had to stop reading because it didn’t make any sense. It was just tidbits here and there that I would question or have to take a second to think through.
Don’t get me wrong. I loved the story, the premise of it and how it was all laid out. I’m giving this 4* because even though I got confused, I was invested. I wanted to see how it ended and what would happen.
I would have loved to get more insight into why the guys were missing (more so than was given). I would have loved to see the relationships develop more. This is a relatively short standalone though so there’s only so much room.
I enjoyed the writing and will definitely be looking at more of Emma Coles work.
**please take what’s written in this review with a grain of salt - this is an ARC copy I received (post release?) and am unsure if anything is fixed or changed in the real version.
As well, reading and writing at 4am when you can’t sleep may be part of this lol
Sevyn is a great read if you're a fan of motorcycle clubs, second chance romances, somewhat secret pregnancies, or even if you're just in the mood for a fast paced standalone that won't take you forever to read. I really enjoyed reading it, but did wish that it was a bit longer as I really loved the characters and thought they could do with a longer story to fully flesh out their relationships.
There were so many things I loved about this story. First off, you have a female as the prez, which I've never seen in an MC book I've read yet and to top it off, she is also raising a child in a healthy way despite the environment she works in. The way Sevyn is able to split her time between being a mother and a prez is commendable, and it's nice to see that she doesn't do it alone either. When they say it takes a village, they aren't lying, and it's mentioned and shown several times throughout the book how the MC members help out in taking care of Opal when Sevyn needed an extra hand.
Because this book is on the shorter side, there is some immediate attraction going on really early on in the book that sets the foundation for the rest of the book. The chemistry is off the charts at first, but I really hated when the guys came back into the picture after their time away. They are very quick to assume the worst of Sevyn without talking to her at all, even though they don't consider their disappearance to be a reason for anything they accuse her of. Let me be clear though, this isn't the case with all the guys. There are a couple that still seem on her side, but I'm sure you'll probably want to punch one or more of the guys for the way they act before things clear up again. However after the issues have been addressed, the guys fall into place pretty easily.
There was a lot going on in the short amount of pages this book had, but it was a thrilling read full of mystery and betrayal, finding love after avoiding it, and creating a true family. It was cute with just the side of danger that kept the pages turning.

Trigger warnings MIA in military action MM MFM MMFMM Murder
Sevyn- prez Lipsticks and Leather MC (LLMC) Loch- nomad, military Gus- nomad, cousin to Loch, military Coot - rides with the cousins, same unit Jesse - rides with the cousins, same unit
Sevyn gets permission to be president of a Montana chapter of LLMC and spends her last night as a nomad celebrating. She picks up Loch and Gus at the bar after Loch tells her they like to share. They spend the night going multiple rounds before the men have to leave and return to base. Her branch of the LLMC is outlaw, running undisclosed product and black market WITSEC. The night they spent had consequences they had done everything to prevent. Sevyn does try to get in touch with the men, but Gus' phone is full and Loch's doesn't work anymore. She tried one last time, only to have a stranger tell her the men were MIA and presumed DoA. Two years have passed when the men show up, alive, at her bar. Words are exchanged, and not the nice kind. The 4-man unit they are part of/showed up with, decide to stick around and life gets ... complicated. When one of her MC members gets murdered, they go from complicated to dangerous. Who's stealing from the club? Who murdered Doc?
Issues- seems some context got left out, the book jumps from scene to scene leaving out crucial information
I love Emma’s books, she’s such a versatile author, really love this book which is set in the MC world with the “Lipstick and Leather” club. Think it’s a fantastic twist on the whole MC genre to have a woman as the president.Sevyn is a great president who takes her role seriously despite her complicated personal life. The way Sevyn frantically tries to contact the guys when she’s pregnant only to be told they were MIA brought tears to my eyes. She is so lucky to have the support of her Aunt Flo to help her thru this difficult time. Most books in this genre never have the FMC in charge of the whole show as here which Emma does believably here. We see Sevyn struggle to juggle club responsibilities and previous lovers as she deals with being a new mother. So happy for when the guys finally coming me back to her and they work thru all of their issues. This book is super spicy, love the way Emma describes the guys. I’m definitely jealous of her having four super hot ex forces guys to herself. This was a fantastic read, a stand-alone novel so none of those irritating cliffhangers here, another winner from Emma.
I think that what made me like this the most was that it involved four guys like putting up the mantle of being a family with her and each other. I also like that there was some gayness in there as well, which I very much enjoyed seeing as I haven't read a lot a reverse harem involved the guys being involved with each other as well and I also love how just protective they were of the girls. The only thing I didn't like was just getting familiarized with what the heck the club is and the lore and stuff but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. So it wasn't too bad and I wasn't that lost at least. But I did get confused sometimes with who the heck was talking and especially during the spice scenes at the end just trying to figure out where everyone is in up the pile up. But the cherry on top honestly was that they were all drawing straws on who would get our pregnant nest and I love that.
Sevyn is the first book I have read from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The first thing that drew me to this book was a female mc president, that's a first for me.
After a wild night out, Sevey's life is changed forever and it sets off a series of events no one could have seen coming. I loved that Sevey is portrayed as a woman of power but also that she has insecurities, it made her feel more real and relatable.
It's a hot, quick read with loads of feels and a bit of angst thrown in. But there's also more than that, it's about family and loyalty and to me personally that is everything.
As soon as I finish writing this, I am off to find what else Emma Cole has written.
I've been waiting for the Lipstick and Leather MC series!!!
Sevyn is part of the Lipstick and Leather MC shared world. Each book is a full length, standalone, contemporary why choose romance.
I love seeing the ladies being the boss!!!
Sevyn spends her last night as a nomad with 2 hot military cousins, Lochlan and Gus. When they part ways the next morning, they promise they will find each other when they get back from their mission. A few weeks later, she finds out she is pregnant, then right before her due date, she gets heartbreaking news.
2 years later, ghosts from her past show up at her club all while she is dealing with someone that is out to get her.
I loved this book!!!! I love Sevyn, all her guys, and their story!!!! I cant wait for more in this world!!!!
Sevyn’s last night as a nomad is spent with Loch and Gus cousins who were leaving the next day for a military mission. After the night to remember they promise to wait for each other and once the guys come back they would find her to start something. As time goes by Sevyn finds out she’s pregnant and she tries to get in contact with them. Eventually she is given heartbreaking information further along in her pregnancy. She must move forward with her daughter and keep her head in her fairly new MC. Being president of the MC has brought her enemies some very close to home. But one night changes everything when ghosts from the past arrive and flip her world upside down. I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes!
Sevyn has a memorable evening with a pair of guys that are about to leave on a military mission. For a novella, you just have to believe in love at first sight.
Sevyn appears tough-as-nails in the beginning, but finds herself in a situation that softens her up a bit. As the President of Lipstick & Leather MC, this is frowned upon.
Time jumps do happen & this quickens the transition in a short book.
Sevyn finds her guys are alive and well, which was a shock to her. They rekindle the flame pretty quickly. The guys help her discover things are not as they seem within her club and things come to a head.
Some of the names/road names/real names were a little confusing at my times, but for a novella, it's a quickie.
This was definitely a unique story having a female president of a MC.
Severine "Sevyn" is on her last day as a nomad when she has a one night stand with two hot bikers at a rally. They end up shipping out with their military unit but don't know when they will return. They did exchange numbers and she told them where she lived but when Sevyn finds herself pregnant, she tries without success to contact the two cousins. Two years pass when out of the blue they pull up to her clubhouse and find out about their daughter. They've also brought two more nomads with them who are part of their retired military unit. Together, the four men show Sevyn that they want her and little Opal in their lives but none of them are prepared for the trouble that breaks out.
I found this book on TikTok and thought it was going to center around an accidental pregnancy trope with the main character being pregnant for most of the book. The main character did get pregnant after a one night stand but there were a lot of time jumps that kind of skipped over the pregnancy. I was a little disappointed by that but I still enjoyed reading it. The motorcycle club aspect of the book was much different from the MC books I normally read given that females can be a part of the club and it was kind of interesting to see. I thought it was real sad that some of the men in her club turned against her but I can’t say that it wouldn’t happen in real life so it’s a reasonable problem for the main character to face. Overall, it was a decent book.

Is this the best book/novella I’ve ever read? No. Is it a decent enough novella that you can pick up between book? Yes.
I haven’t read from this author before, it wasn’t bad. It’s a novella, I’m not expecting a huge amount, however, I have read plenty of novella’s that have been able to deliver everything. This wasn’t really one of them.
There was a lot skipped. A lot unexplained. Which considering the main plot is that the MMC’s disappeared on a mission, at least one sentence explaining that rather than an ‘they explained it to me, I guess I believe them…’ would have been better.
Wasn’t a bad read and it kept my attention, so if you’re looking at something while in a reading slump or before you decide where you’re going next, this book will do that.
This is a very quick fast burn book. When I read the blurb I was so excited I thought it was going to be about a kick ass woman running a MC club. What this was jumbled and all over the place and frankly inconsistent. When thinking leather and lipstick MC I was thinking it would totally be an all female MC as that kind of makes sense so to my surprise it was her being the female president of a normal MC I have read about multiple times.
The storyline like is very jumpy and seems like it is missing pieces and the villains whole thing was he was waiting his turn to be with her just wasn’t fleshed out
I was just really disappointed in reading it wouldn’t recommend
This is a quick and fun read from Emma Cole. And if you have read her before you know that she brings the steam and the dark all in one. This book is pretty light compared to her other books so you don’t need to bring a flashlight with you. This is part of a shared world, but you don’t have to read any of the other books to understand it. It is an interesting take on the MC as a woman is the president of this chapter of the club. This story has focus not just on Sevyn, but on the chapter of the club as well. We get an eclectic bunch of characters all mixed in. There is betrayal, drama, steam, and love all intertwined with each other. It held my attention and I enjoyed reading it.
Sevyn ran a MC club and ran into two military guys while out drinking. She had a one night stand with the both of them and then they left to go overseas on assignment. She was told they had both died when she tried to tell them that she was pregnant. Two years later they returned with two other men. They bonded over their daughter. While this was going on there was trouble within the motorcycle club, with thievery and murder. Sevyn gets involved with all four men and they try to figure out their unorthodox relationship. This type of reverse harem is really not something I enjoy but it was a good story and quite steamy.
I received this book as an Arc and am leaving a review voluntarily
I enjoyed this one. It's one of the first reverse harem I've read where all the guys are crossing swords, not just some of them. It is kind of love at first sight and the FMC gets pregnant in the very first part of the book. She then finds out the two guys she slept with died in combat and is heart broken. Only for them to show up with two other hot guys but they all treat her like she's the one who didn't keep her promise to wait for them. Some of the plot line is kind of ridiculous and only put in to create drama when there really wasn't any but I can over look that because of all the hot hot sex. But I'm a smut slut
Hold on to your Kidles and buckle up folks, this is one hot dirty ride! This fast paced story about Sevyn, the Prez of an MC, shows us how she met the men she grew to love, how she lost them, and how she got them back for their HEA. Its not all sunshine and roses, but if your reading an MC book I can't imagine you like books with characters that are conflict free. The guys are great, Sevyn is bada$$, and I think between Aunt Flo and Opal, you'll find it brings you more than one smile throughout. I'm hoping thats not the last we'll see of them!
What a ride! What a nice and steamy ride. Hold onto your clothes, girls, it’s about to be hot!
Sevyn meets this two hot guys at a bar just before she’s about to settle in as the new chapter president of a MC. It takes a turn after that. Soon, she’s juggling single parent life with the responsibilities of a MC president. Then the guys come back, with two more in tow. (MM action up in here)
This book is a standalone and I kinda wish it wasn’t because I definitely needed more. It was a quick read but still detailed enough with a good twisty plot line. I love Emma’s books!
I literally breezed through this book in one afternoon. I was completely drawn into it from start to finish.
One hot and steamy night for Sevyn (FMC) with Loch and Gus leaves her with much more than happy memories. Years later and now Sevyn is Pres of her own MCand ghosts from her past turn her life upside down. As well as two new hot as hell men. ***Fans herself*** these men are seriously hot in this book. I had a soft spot for Coot.......swoon!! My only criticism of this book was that it wasn't long enough and I could have happily have read more from all of them. A cracking read
I started this book properly yesterday and finished this morning. This is a fast read which I got hooked on from the first few pages.
Sevyn has a 1 night stand with 2 men after deciding to no longer be a nomad in the MC world. After an extremely hot night together they part ways but to meet up again soon.
As you can imagine things do not go to plan and a few years later everything changes.
The plot is fast paced with a few twists and turns. Not much violence but there is some fab spice with added MM 🥵
A good introduction read into the world of MC as it’s not too dark.
This book was a quick read and definitely had some steam. The story really had great potential with an original story like but I felt the plot had holes that went unanswered. Where were the guys for those two years? Why were they so mad upon coming to see her and why did they think she was seeing someone? And why did Sevyn just let it go? I loved the guys and their different personalities and Sevyn but it was hard to get past the holes and disconnect between what was said in one chapter to the next.
