Alexa Chase is a brilliant profiler in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit and is very good at her job. She's haunted...haunted by all the serial killers that she's investigated and brough to justice, but she has now left this stunning career behind to join the U.S. Marshals. As a Deputy Marshal, Alexa, who is fit, and as tough as she is brilliant, can now immerse herself in a simple career of hunting down fugitives and bringing them to justice.

However, since her recent work was such a huge success, the FBI and the Marshals have decided to make their joint-task force a permanent one. Alexa, who is yet still reeling from her traumatic past and her PTSD from hunting serial killers, finds that she really has no choice; she will now HAVE to work with the FBI partner that she dislikes, and hunt down serial killers whose jurisdiction intertwines with that of the U.S. Marshals'. I really hope there’s another book coming. I have so many questions and I feel so unresolved. I desperately need to know what the conspiracy is, I need to know who killed Stewart’s Stacey, I need to know if Stewart and Alexa get together, I need to know if Hernandez is a good guy or not, I need to know what Drake Logan is planning next. Book 6 was MUCH better than book 5. Probably my favorite one so far.

Alexa is not in her best shape but she is asked to lead the chase of the criminal who is killing people who are protected by the Witness Protection Program. She and her partner are doubting everyone, there might be a leak that is putting all those in the program at risk. Some leads end up discovering culprits for other crimes and some are just dead-ends. The Killing Place has a good plot, is well-written, and shows the human side of the agents - who are not super-humans! Excellent entertainment!

The cliffhanger here is devious work. Alexa is still messed up bad from the ending of the last book, and it just feels like everything is crashing down around her. I think ultimately, this still was a good listen, though maybe a *bit* too fantastical at times, especially that cliffhanger that almost crossed into some Dexter/You territory (have never watched either of them🤥).

All I know is… I need book 7. I’m not a begging man, but like…

I really enjoyed Bold’s writing, but overall the book fell short. Part of a character’s series, it worked as a stand alone but nothing felt memorable to me. Typical family drama, situation-ships, while gruesome murders are taking place. Members of a witness protection program being murdered was an INCREDIBLE idea, but not executed in a way I enjoyed that much.
