In the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Prince Tevra by his own family, Najlah and Barkus are assigned to his protection. While playing bodyguard to a measly human is far beneath Najlah's lethal skills, he can't deny he's intrigued by the man whose blood is now sunk into his very bones, a man who proves to have magic literally carved into his skin.
Rather than back down in the face of failure, Prince Tevra's family only turns more ruthless, willing to pay any price to obtain the war and bloodshed they're so desperately seeking. But they didn't count on facing a dragon born in a volcano, a wolf forged in snow and ice, or Tevra himself, who has plenty to say about the family who ordered him stabbed to death in his own bed.
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
I enjoyed this one more than book one. I liked the addition of Tevra to their relationship. And this one felt like there was more at stake to them personally. In the first book, they were trying to find who had attempted to assassinate the king. In this one somebody’s after Tevra personally, so they have to protect him. I felt much more tension and engagement with the story.
This felt like a very well established world, and I’m wondering if this is actually connected to one of her other series.
I liked the trio together. The brotherly squabble was still there, favourite part being the cry for help and the massacre after. Wasn’t a fan of carving into a newborn. All tied up with Tev getting his brother back. Didn’t enjoy it as much the first time around. Down a star.

Najlah and Barkus are one of my favorites couples from this author. I like how out of the box they are. Adding Tevra to the mix just made things better, although would've been nice to have the two have their own time together. The sibling bickering was fun as usual. Favorite part from Ajith obliterating the enemy.

I feel like I’m reading a book with a huge amount of info missing. And I just finished the first one. Feels like a draft. And the sudden addition of a threesome didn’t add to my enjoyment either. I’m done.
Again I thing that the book could be so much more. The storyline was fine, development of the characters inside and out perfect, here even the relationship between them was worked on. But again the story wasn’t shown to us, it happend somewhere in the background to people we were not really meeting. They just showed up to be killed or resolve the situation. The start of the feud does not male sense too as it does nit coreespind with the abilities and characteristic of the dragons.
I enjoyed the book as megan is great in character building I just think that the book was promising more and the characters just like Meghan would be able to handle more then sleeping in the fire and fucking.
These stories typically come in multiples, I hope that is the case with this series as well. For we have yet to see Tahjil…
Najlah the dragon, Barkus the wolf, and Tevra the mage become linked in this outing; first, telepathically, second, more physically. It gives each of them more insight into the nature of the others, something that can only benefit everyone.
When something truly insane happens, all three can bear witness, and then participate in the solution. And there is much that needs solving.
Will they explore tehe reaction of the dragon queen to the new addition to the family? Will Gormestic sigils be effectie in dealing with the extremes of temperatures that define thier lives?
I would have enjoyed this a lot more if it didn't feel like I missed a whole story. This book begins right after the assassination attempt on a foreign prince, where Najlah saved his life (apparently right after the ending of the first book). Neither Najlah meeting the prince, nor the assassination are on page and you are thrown in feeling lost. I still liked it, liked the throuple, but wasn't quite satisfied.
I really enjoyed the straightforward dragon as the point of view character for these stories. I like the worldbuilding, and the polyamory, and the bond telepathy. There is a lot of killing, but the enemy started it. And, I liked how the strife is resolved. I liked the feminism, too. The sex is steamy without being over-described, which I appreciate.
I , personally found this story to be lacking the element that prevent the reader from flipping the pages before finding the purpose of the plot. From brotherly rivalry to eating cigarette butts to satisfying tye main character's sexual urges, at the start, I realized, quickly enough that this is not my type of book. I rate it 2 Stars.
I feel like I’ve missed half the story, reading this series. And half the books. It jumps leaving what feels like big gaps. The characters were two dimensional and the love story Insta love and meh
This book is amazing! Tevra, Najlah, and Barkus are so perfect together. I love Tevra's magic and how it bound them together. I love how possessive they all are of each other. I'm so happy with how it all turned out. Megan Derr is a genius.
Most of the plot doesn't make any sense and the flimsy explanation of who did it is not good enough. This whole story is mostly a general idea that could be more developed and it's there only to glue together some sex scenes. On the side note the name Barkus keeps bothering me...
Quick follow-up book. Dragons, wolves, mages, and ordinary humans. Lots of graphic sex, all the time. No romance. An amazing amount of blood, curses, and violence.
I did like this one but felt that it suffered for the length of it. I still feel as though I have missed a connection with another story or stories somewhere as a lot of things are mentioned and happened off page but here are just brushed over or mentioned in passing.
I liked the addition of Prince Tevra and the connection between the three guys. I am still confused as to why Prince Tevra's father was so ruthless in his attempts to start war, what started it and what exactly happened at the end.
Najlah is very entertaining to me, the way his thought processes are amuses me. HIs interactions with both Barkus and Terra as they all get to know each other is well done. The family aspect was also very well done here.
