Having a baby at my age is crazy enough.
Try throwing another species into the mix.

At 45, I never dreamed I’d be starting over.
But here I am, newly single in a new little town.
My BFF dragged me out on New Year’s Eve to celebrate my next chapter,
And a pair of stunning blue eyes caught my attention.
I definitely wasn’t there to find a new man,
But when I felt my cheeks burning at the sight of him,
I knew it wasn’t just another damn hot flash.
So when he asked me to go back to his place to ring in the new year,
He didn’t have to ask twice.
But we ended up sharing much more than one wild night.
I’m technically old enough to be a grandmother, but now I’m pregnant.
On top of that? I just found out he’s part bear.
As in not human.
In that case, what exactly is growing in my belly?
And how can I know I’ll be safe?

Steamy shifter love scenes and an HEA inside! No cheating or cliffhanger in this standalone romance. Readers 18+.

Bear’s Midlife Baby is book two in the Shifter Nation: Fated Over Forty by Meg Ripley

The story is ok. Nothing special nor does it stand out. We spend too much time with each individual lead instead of them as a couple and then we have a few time jumps. It focuses on the leads getting their business started instead of them spending anytime together. The basic synopsis was interesting, but it lacked any depth or character development. I also didn’t understand why Chase would accept help from a rival clan instead of his own clan. This plot-line didn’t make sense. Everything felt rushed, no character development, no background development and the conflict is eh. I didn’t mind the read, but it’s nothing to rave about. I will not be reading on in the sereis.

Story: Jenna (h45) moves to a new town after a breakup to start a new life and open her own business. On New Year's Eve, she meets Chase (H35) and they have a passionate night together, but the next morning, Jenna leaves before Chase returns, assuming he's not interested in her. To her surprise, Jenna discovers that she's pregnant, and even more shockingly, she learns that Chase is a bear shifter. When she meets Chase again for a business meeting, she mistakenly believes he's involved with another woman and decides to keep her pregnancy a secret. Meanwhile, Chase is determined to pursue a relationship with Jenna and build his dream brewery, but his ex keeps interfering. Misunderstandings and insecurities threaten to keep them apart, and Jenna worries about the pregnancy and Chase being a shifter. Lovely OWYM shifter, fated mates, secret baby romance with plenty of heat and relationship angst.

Audio: The pacing of the narrator was fine, good annunciation, though sometimes words seemed to go soft at times. The narrator did a good job with voicing different male voices, but I rarely am happy when a male narrator is used to voice female characters' dialogue, and this was no exception.

This one was cute, from the unexpected NYE's encounter to Jenna and Chase crushing over each other as they work together to bring Chase's dream of the brewery to life. The only down part was Chase's ex, who didn't get that she was an ex or Chase explaining things to Jenna. The big show down at the end was crazy, but at least it allowed Chase's secret to come out to Jenna and give Liz a good reason to talk about things. It made the secret that Jenna was keeping easier for her to talk to Chase about. Loved seeing how this one ended, happy all the way around.

An enjoyable read with Shifters and mates, and trouble around every corner. Nothing will keep these mates apart except miscommunication.

The pages kept turning because I wanted to know what happened.

These books are quick and easy reads.

Keeping a secret has never been so big.

Jenna tells her boyfriend to man up or go, he chose to go so now she has moved to a small town to start her own business. While out celebrating with her friends, she goes home with a hunk which is so unlike her but at 45 why not? But in the morning’s bright light, she has regrets and her insecurities tell her he left so that he doesn’t have to deal with her.
Chase sees a beauty in a sparkly dress on new years eve and ends up taking her home. In the morning while he goes for breakfast, she leaves with trace. When he decides to open a brewery, his dream, he needs help and arranges a meeting with a firm that was recommended to him. Turns out it’s Jenna’s business. They are just starting their meeting when his ex, Ruby, turns up and Jenna runs thinking Ruby is his girlfriend.
When Jenna finds out she is pregnant, she decides to wait and make a decision as to whether to tell Chase or not that he is going to be a father.
This was a great read, there is a lot of misunderstandings and insecurities that need to be resolves if they stand any chance for a ‘happily ever after’. I really enjoyed their story and can’t wait for more.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

This was a wonderful read, very different characters and scenario you will love every moment
This is another read I loved every moment of this book and I guarantee that you will enjoy every moment of this wonderful read, I enjoyed the fact that it was from a different angle and I am sure that you will enjoy every moment of this wonderful read.

Chris has recently taken over the Alpha duties of the shifters from his father however, he still has a problem and that is the fact he still is unmated and he is constantly being reminded that he should have a mate by now and offspring but he has not got either.

Brandy who has been previously married and is now divorced had never been able to conceive a baby so imagine her surprise after she has an interlude with Chris and explains to hi that she has these problems and yet he seems unfazed and there are plenty of surprises.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Claro, claro...

Finding Your Mate

This is now the third book I've listened to in this series. I really enjoyed the first book, but the second one didn't quite do it for me. I’m happy to say I enjoyed this particular book as much as I did the first. I absolutely loved the hero, a bear shifter, and the couple had chemistry as soon as they met … something the reader recognizes as well as them as they embark on a one-night stand on New Year's Eve. She's new to town, a marketing consultant, and imagine her surprise when he turns out to be her first client! He's branching out from the family lumber business and starting his own brewpub. He’s been making home brews for years. Unfortunately, early on, a misunderstanding leads to miscommunication that keeps them romantically apart for most of the book. That was disappointing. I kept wishing they would just talk to clear the air. He has an evil ex, though, who keeps throwing a monkey wrench in the works and eventually involves her father and their entire shifter clan. The heroine is believable and relatable, a woman in her mid-40s who is surprised to find herself so intrigued by and drawn to a man ten years her junior. When they finally get on the same page, they are so sweet together. The book does have a few steamy scenes at the beginning and the end, but as they are romantically apart for most of the book, not much goes on in that department in the middle of the book. I liked the narrator for the male voices, but he didn't quite do it for me for the female voices. Still, I found this to be an enjoyable listen.

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Jenna is forty-five and moves to a new town to open her business. Things are going great, and her business is picking up. She meets Chase when she is at a New Year's Eve party and ends up sharing an amazing night with him. However, the next morning she leaves while he is out getting breakfast. Jenna didn't think she would see him again but when she goes to meet a new client it turns out to be Chase. Chase is a bear shifter and wants to branch out on his own instead of working in the family business. Every time Chase tries to get to know Jenna more or even ask her out someone from his past shows up and ruins it. Its not long before Jenna finds out that she is pregnant from their night together. Will she let Chase knows? Will Chase tell her his secret?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Heather's Notes
This was not a bad story, but they made of point out of the Jenna being over 40 but she acted like a 20 something with her refusal to talk to Chase and jumping to conclusions. Still the story was overall good. I don't know how I missed it was book 2 so I may need to go back and read book 1.

Shifter romance, over age 40 characters

Attempted murder

Jenna recently moved to the town her best friend lives in. She's newly single and 45 years old. When she goes out to celebrate NYE with Liz (from Book 1), she meets Chase. They hit it off, but she bolts the next morning. Then, he hired her company, not knowing she's the owner. He has an ex that hasn't gotten the hint he's done, though. He really wants to be with Jenna, but Ruby won't leave him alone. He makes a few mistakes, not putting his foot down and letting Ruby's father get involved in his new business. Then, Jenna has news to tell him, but Ruby gets in the way again. And she really needs to tell him because she doesn't know the baby she's carrying isn't human. Ruby doesn't give her the chance when her clan attacks Chase and sets fire to the building Jenna is trapped in. Will Chase be able to fight off the clan and still rescue his mate?

Book 2 has one or two typos in it, but the story is good. You could see things happening before they did, but the plot was strong enough to keep you reading.
Each of these books follows one couple's journey to love. The characters carry over into other books, with very few typos or trigger issues.

Jenna Sorenson knew what she wanted, a husband and a baby or two and maybe her own business. Then Jenna realized she was 45 years old and hadn’t reached any of her goals. Her partner of years told Jenna in word and deed things were fine like they were and didn’t need any changes.

Starting over with a move to Carlton, a new business, new friends and a new life, Jenna decides attending a community holiday party would help her meet new potential customers, have a little fun maybe expand her horizons with a one-night stand. Enter mutual attraction in the form of sexy, handsome logger, Chase. Perfect if Jenna can accept the age difference.

That night fanned Chase and Jenna’s flames but his ex, the young, possessive town ‘it’ girl as declared Chase off limits to everyone except her. After backing off a while Jenna ignores the obstacle to get to Chase as he’s decided no more Mr.Nice Guy with his ex, despite the problems it’ll and share his own big secret with Jenna!

This was a sweet read. There isn't a lot of spice, and that fit the story.

I liked Jenna and Chase. They had both recently come out of relationships and were moving on. Chase had a dream of opening a brewery, but he knew his dad wouldn't approve him leaving the family business. He didn't and thought the brewery would be a failure. I liked how at the end, he came and told Chase he was wrong and he was proud of him. It was sweet.

I gave it four stars because I'm still confused on how Ruby knew when Jenna and Chase were together. Did she have a tracker on Jenna's car? Was one of her clan members watching Chase and call her whenever Jenna showed up? Also, if he beat her father in a fight, does that make him head of that clan now? I have so many questions.

Overall, it was a good book. Not very spicy, but just enough to get where it needed to be. I'm glad to see there are more over 40 books being produced. Would recommend.

I'm a big fan of any of Meg Ripley's works especially because they are not the typically younger cast of characters, and you are faced with real issues that pop in them, funny or serious.

Bear's Midlife Baby fits perfectly in this with older leads, starting over, and granny panties. It also plays into some awesome tropes, including but not limited to, age gaps, older women, surprise babies, one-night stands, starting over, men working with their hands, and big dreams.

I was impressed by D.C. Cole's excellent shifts in voice for each of the characters in this book, which made it an enjoyable read. In fact, my friend, who is not usually interested in shifter stories, enjoyed listening to the audiobook during a car ride thanks to Cole's engaging and soothing narration. She was curious to find out how Chase and Jenna's story would conclude, and now plans to pick up the audiobook herself.

Jenna left her home and moved to start her life over away from her longtime boyfriend. At 45 she felt like she had not much chance to have the home and family she craved. On New Year's Eve she met Chase at a party and went home with him. Life becomes busy as she is working hard to start her new marketing and consulting firm but she runs into Chase again when he becomes one of her clients. Chase is secretly turning an old warehouse into a brewery and casual dining spot. Jenna helps him with a lot of decisions and the two become closer. I really enjoyed this book by Meg Ripley. All her books are well written and the characters are interesting.

Jenna, the female human lead, has moved to the town her friend lives in for a new start personally and professionally. Finding herself pregnant by her one night stand who now becomes her much younger client, she’s less than thrilled, especially since it now looks as though he’s in a relationship…

Chase, the male bear shifter lead, is stunned to find his one night stand in town but not displeased. Though he wishes his ex would take the hint and leave him alone! But now Jenna is avoiding him…

This story is dual POV, well written, with an interesting plot and complex character interrelationships, which were intriguing to read.

Jenna and Chase - Yummy over 40!

I love romance that centers on women over 40. This near-instant, yet realistic romance offers great chemistry between Chase and Jenna. The secondary characters are engaging and believable, which makes the book flow well. Chase has his own emotional journey - will he follow his heart, and his bear? Will he be able to win Jenna's heart or will misunderstandings cause these two to just be a missed connection?Jenna has her own emotional trauma. Will she allow herself to take a chance what appears to be a one-night stand for the possibility of true happiness? I loved how this book flowed. It's a keeper.

Sweet beginnings

I loved reading about Chase and Jenna! I love a strong female lead who shows strength and independence, but isn't without vulnerability and insecurities. Jenna has just moved to a new city and started her own business as a marketing consultant. Chase is finally chasing after his dream of opening a brewery. They meet on New Years and have a night of passion together. The day Jenna slips out due to her insecurities and is determined to not look back. As fate would have it though, Chase needs help with his new business. Unfortunately, an absolutely psychotic, narcissistic floozy keeps interfering in their lives. It was a lovely story and I'm so happy with the way it turned out ❤

Chase is a bear shifter that meets Jenna on new years eve. They have a wild night together, but soon after each one jumps to one conclusion after another. Neither one talks with the other.when Jenna finds out she's pregnant, Chase's ex appears and makes it difficult for them to talk. Chase's ex clan shows up and starts trouble at his business and put Jenna's life endanger. Chase fought harder and called his clan for backup. When they finally got to talk, they confess their secrets to eachother.
Happily-ever-after, wonderful characters, importance of family, drama, danger, fated mates, findingn love late in life, surprise pregnancy, audiobook done well. I enjoyed this audiobook.

Meeting someone at a New Year's Eve party was a great way for Jenna to get her mind off her ex and start to move forward even if it was with a younger man. Little did she know that it was going to be much, much more than a one night stand with Chase. I was pulled into their story from the first page and it held me to the very end. Having Liz and Tyler be a part of the story was a bonus. I loved the connection between Jenna and Chase and as frustrated along with them with what happened to push them apart. Dreams will come true as these fated mates get together for their HEA. There is a peek of the next book in the series which will be about Pax. I am soooo ready to read it.

Jenna is in her mid 40’s she’s uprooted her life and moved to Carlton to start a new business she was out celebrating bringing in the New Year with her only friend in town when she see’s a gorgeous pair of blue eyes at the end of the bar. At the beginning of the New Year Jenna went to Chase’s place and when Jenna woke up the next morning Chase wasn’t there but she had to get the hell out of there she was so embarrassed when a couple of months later Jenna had one hell of a surprise. There is so much more going on in this fantastic story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book.

On New Years Eve she goes out with Liz and her husband Tyler to a local event and she spots a sexy man she finds it hard to take her eyes off then to her shock her walks over to talk to Tyler and Liz before asking her for a dance and then another. Soon it is midnight and they kiss then Case asks her to come to his place and eager to enjoy the feelings between them she agrees.

Love this series.

Its great to read some shifter books that have characters in that are in their 40's. Jenna has moved after she got rid of her last boyfriend for cheating. 15 years down the drain but her friend Liz is determined for her to be happy. Chase is a logger but is also attracted to Jenna. One night was all it took but an ex is determined that Chase is going to be hers forever. When her father and clan get involved death may be the only option of a way out. Loved the characters and the story. Ruby, well not so much though. She needed a slap of some sort. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Pax is next and I wonder who his HEA will be.

Once again, this couple is boring with no chemistry and the writing of the book as a whole leaves much to be desired. Too many repetitive/overused phrases and statements, an annoying approach to miscommunication that makes Chase look dense and drama-seeking on purpose, and a heroine who hates herself.

Bleh.

I also forgot Chase was a bear with how much this book focuses on the pregnancy and Chase’s business ventures.

I also feel like if you’re gonna commit to a series about couples over the age of 40, you should avoid having them act like high schoolers. Very odd.

A nice fast and short shifter story. I enjoyed the story of Jenna Sorenson and Chase Thompson who is a bear shifter.
The journey they make together is beautiful to read, your attention is immediately drawn and it keeps you hooked. The chemistry and interaction between them is fantastic .
Their journey does not go smoothly because of the fact that Misterstand had arisen.
I have to say this is a new series and it starts flying right away.
