Shay only stopped at the slave auction for a moment, but it was enough to change everything. She felt compelled to buy Jaed'aden when she saw him. But to get him she had to outbid Skand Toolon, the nastiest piece of scum in the sector. Now, she has to try to explain to her mate while she is bringing another male into their home.
Raerei is far from happy when his wife returns to their ship dragging a half-starved slave along. He is even less happy to see how attracted to the slave she is. But, what really finishes off his day is discovering that a vicious pirate is hot for their blood because Shay outbid him for the slave.
Jaed'aden isn't what they expect, though. Beneath the submissiveness of the abused slave is a man with an unbroken spirit, a loving heart, and a longing for the life he left behind. He slowly releases his fear and blossoms under Shay and Raerei's care.
Now if only Skand wouldn't follow them to the ends of the universe to see the three of them dead, they might just get Jaed'aden home.

The name Theolyn Boese is a pen name with a bit of history behind it. Theolyn, pronounced Thay-o-lyn, is my great grandmothers middle name on my mothers side of the family. The closest we've come to finding a definition is "divine lightning" or "power/ruler of the lake/pool/waterfall." It is Old English, but mom's family is from Norway. Boese, pronounced Bay-zee, is my grandmothers maiden name on my fathers side. Dad's family is a tad more colorful. They are from Germany and his grandfather told him that one of the definitions is 'bad'. *grin* From the stories I've heard over the years it is very fitting.
I live in Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge. I started writing when I was in the fourth grade. I was taking special education courses to help me with my dyslexia when my primary teacher decided to have a talented and gifted class for poetry. My S.E. teacher thought it would be good for me and stuck me in it as well. It surprised everyone, including myself, when I took off with it. I've been writing ever since.
I have a Border Collie named Fuzzbutt, two cats, Goblyn and Wisp and assorted freshwater snails and guppies.
I very much love anything written by Theolyn Boese and this is no exception. Crimson Shackles is a well written story with characters you can't get enough of. Very quickly you get drawn into a world of different beings that act way to human at times. All her books are a must read and it's very sad that she hasn't written anything in a very long while.
I almost didn't read this book because of the warnings, reading gruesome descriptions of suffering is not my idea of entertainment, but the references to those subjects are mostly glossed over and not a focus of the story but there to provide context. Anyways I enjoyed the book, the characters and the smut.
A bit disappointed with this one. The cutie, baby nicknames got on my nerves. Book needed more character development and felt like romance took a backseat to a rushed conclusion.
Last book in this Ta'e'sha series there are four and this is a great ending... all characters on the space ship Crimson Shackles were once slaves Now Sha sees a young man / boy of 20 who being sold here heart goes out to him, she knows she cannot buy him 'to save him' and she speaks to her heart and someone speaks back the slave. She is distraught over the man bidding on him, she knows this bidder first hand. And knows the young man will die horribly, She buys him. And of course the slaver who wanted him is mad.. she gets him on ship and her mate rea is not happy but comes around quickly after the sweet young man touches his heart both of their hearts....they are all falling in love and become mates than Adea which is Ta'e'sha has a dream from his goddess telling him where to go to find his sister, only he and his sister lived thru the prirates who killed his family and sold him and his sister.
Of course the person Sha and her mate don't want to see is at this auction too... waiting, trickery.... come see the girl let us find you and kill you or sell you too is the plan...
Very exciting ending to this series wish there were more novels by this author in this series.
Sort of short books for me... 170 pages average i like a longer book..
but loved the story, sweet and loving with exctiment and DEATH LOL...
That is such a good story with everything in it to make it a five star read. But why why did you change the simple word "okay" with "dinii". I have no idea if there is such a word in some country or state. There were too many diniis, I wanted to throw away my reader for so many times. They are talking perfectly ENglish, why that one word is different? I understand when they use an endearment word like beloved or sweetheart differently, in their own langage, but okay is a simple word. Why change it other than to make us angry?
As erotica this is extremely hot, but what is quite surprising is how these 127 pages also have a satisfying science fiction world with a cool plot, great characters and development. This is achieved by jumping around quite a bit, from important moment to important moment, but I could wish the author or publisher had decided to make this a real novel.
Much better in the story part than I had expected.
I really love these stories by Theolyn Boese. She takes a unique folklore and mates it with space travel. This story brings together the Ta'e'sha with the Kleeg shapeshifter clan Kerracat. To bring two species together as a family is hard work but Theolyn did so. Through thick or thin, life or death this family will prevail. A must read for Theolyn Boese fans
Loved this book, in fact the whole series is good! My only complaint is that the book kind of leaves you hanging at the end. I know that she has plans for more books in the series but I just wasnt thrilled with the ending.
