Born and raised in Texas, C.C. Wood writes saucy paranormal and contemporary romances featuring strong, sassy women and the men that love them. If you ever meet C.C. in person, keep in mind that many of her characters are based on people she knows, so anything you say or do is likely to end up in a book one day.

A self-professed hermit, C.C. loves to stay home, where she reads, writes, cooks, and watches TV. She can usually be found drinking coffee or wine as she spends time with her hubby, daughter, and two beagles.

This is the first book I have read by C.C. Woods and she has gained herself another reader. Ensnared in Shadow may be the fourth book in this series () but it is a full standalone and I can honestly say this as I have not read anything by this author.

Ensnared In Shadow is a PNR but I absolutely love the unique take on vampires, werewolves and witches in this book. It has definitely made me want to go back and read the previous books learn more about the secondary characters mentioned in this story.

I was pulled into this story from the very first page. C.C. does a nice job of bringing new readers into the fold as to what has happened previously without info-dumping over whelming readers. I was not confused once and felt I had a good grasp on things to be able to understand this world. And again, it had me wanting to go back and read the other books because I was quite intrigued.

This book flowed beautifully. There is a perfect blend of the paranormal suspense and the romance that nothing ever feels forced or added filler. I loved how natural everything moved between all the characters – it was fated to be and you can feel that.

I loved C.C.'s writing style. I cannot say enough how well this book flowed and the pacing of it all. I did not want to put this book down. I enjoyed getting to know each character and how they were all intertwined with the secondary characters.

Ensnared in Shadows was the perfect way to start off my reading ventures for 2022. I cannot wait to see what she brings us next in this series (and go back and read the other books).

What an easy read! C.C. Wood gives us Marcus's story and does not disappoint. Good solid story with good flow. We see characters from previous books and there's some side story updates with them. Theres a little intrigue and good steam, but not sex for no reason or with that "had to fill the pages feel". Can't wait for the next book in this series.

Oh my immortal stars and moons..... I've missed these characters. Marcus has finally met his soul. Merry has found Ava and the group after all she went through at Rhiannon's hands.

But now there's more dark clouds coming. And watching the storm unfold is intense.

The romance/steam level is as spicy steamy as I would expect from the series.

Add in Callum with his snark, Harrison growling at everyone... And then Arien with her "learning of humans" as she has discovered the internet..... I really suggest not eating or drinking during chapter three unless you want to spit it out/choke while laughing.

It was like opening another Christmas present when I turned the first page of Ensnared in Shadow.
Marcus is such a kind hearted soul that doesn't show it unless he considers you a love one. He's been in Merry's dreams for months. When they finally meet he tries his best to stay away from her because of her past trauma. Needless to say it doesn't workout like that and I for one am so ecstatic about it I'm over the moon.
I can't wait for the next book.

Omg Merry and Marcus’ story was a nail biter without a doubt. It will keep you intrigued and wanting more the further you get into their story. I loved reading more about Ava and McGrath as well. I truly believe Marcus and Merry are in a close running for 1st place with Ava and McGrath. The epilogue had me on the edge of my seat, happy as can be with great news, and stressing about Callum while needing to know more. Cannot wait to see what is next for our group of vampires, witches, werewolf and our tiny human!!!!!

Hello Marcus and Merry! And the rest of the gang, too.
EiS is a SLOW burn, paranormal romance with a slice of suspense and mystery to cut into the heat Marcus brings. These two are damaged, witty introverts that meet in a peculiar yet fascinating way. This guy can haunt my dreams any night! Wink, wink.
I love them both, they are as lovely on their own as they are together. However, when they finally come together, pun intended, their heat is roof shattering.
I love seeing the whole gang from previous books in the series together. Rhys especially however Ava and MacGrath are also favorites of mine. Callum, Marcus' house mate and friend, is a hilarious brat.
The plot twist with a few new characters on scene is interesting and sets us up for more suspense, mystery and paranormal action. Ensnared In Shadow is a great, engaging read.

I read an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Took me a while to get to this book but I finally was able to read it. I have read all the other books previously but it has been a while to remember who was who.

I was happy to see many of the old crew back. Callum definitely is the comic relief and I'm looking forward to his book.

This book was a good introduction to a new dilemma happening but I felt it was definitely missing something.

3.5 stars. Ensnared in Shadow is book four in the Blood and Bone series and is Marcus and Merry's story. Merry went through a terrible ordeal at Rhiannon's hands in the previous book in the series. She finds herself free, but terrified, on the run and drawn enexplicably to the vampire Marcus. I don't want to give too much away as not to spoil the book, but the book was a good continuation of the ongoing series storyline.

I enjoyed Marcus and Merry's story. I liked the story, even if I found it slow moving at times. Merry had been through horrific trauma in the past and needed to heal. She and Marcus felt a strong connection, but he left it up to her to act on those feelings. I wanted him to be a little less passive in that regard. But I was glad the two of them got their HEA as they both deserved to be happy. I also really enjoyed catching up with the previous couples in the series.

Overall, this was an entertaining read. I enjoyed seeing Merry heal and her relationship develop with Marcus. I am enjoying this series and I look forward to more from Ms. Wood in the future!

Ensnared in Shadow is a spellbindingly fantastic book.

We are thrust into the unlikely love story of Marcus and Merry. Marcus knows all about Merry from his dreams, Merry’s dreams, which he is pulled into. She knows nothing of him and is escaping from being tortured by vampires.

Merry feels drawn to Austin Texas, and she is finally going to trust her instincts. She ‘runs’ into Marcus at the market. He has been watching her, desperate to protect her, but knowing that what he is will repel her.

Through vampire shenanigans, Merry is drawn into the group and ultimately to Marcus. We see Merry grow into the feisty woman that she is, and through that growth see that Marcus is worthy of love and acceptance. She is also forced to trust an unlikely vampire to ensure the safety of the group of supernaturals she has grown to love. In the end, they thwart this battle, but the war is not over.

A fantastic read!!

C.C. took time off but man did she come back with a vengeance! Marcus and Merry are HOT!!

Merry is sort of a quiet, self-contained woman. She tries not to garner attention but she does have Marcus' attention, even if she doesn't know he exists. And Marcus does have her attention-although it's because of Merry being attacked and Marcus and the group trying to keep her safe.

Marcus does not want to meet Merry, even though he's known of her for years; she's his fated mate and she's not a fan of the supernatural - rightfully so, but you'll find that out when you read the book. Once he's met her and helped protect her, Marcus isn't letting Merry go. She's his mate, and he's going to keep her safe, no matter what!

Oh how I can't wait for Callum's story - he's just such a crackup. You know he's hiding a lot underneath his affable nature.

I loved this book, I was so excited to read what happened to the others, Marcus finding love, Harrison and Arien attracted to each other, and now Callum probably finding his love also. Callum's character makes me laugh lol
Hopefully soon Harrison will finally accept what he feels for Arien and make a move on her.
Also interested to know what will happen with the damn Channing character.
I can't wait to read more. My favorite book series.

I have one word. Marcus. If you’ve followed the series, which you should have, you will see previous characters and meet new ones. But Marcus really stole my focus.

Merry is running scared, not wanting to be captured and used again. The man from her dreams, quite literally is the key to her safety.

I have always loved CC Woods books! This one was no different! I have reread the Bitten series and what has been written of Blood and Bone an embarrassing amount of times. Her characters are all so easy to love. They are comfort books for me. Great stories with great characters that will keep you wanting more of the story! Can’t wait to see what else CC Wood comes out with. 🤩🤩

Another Triumph

After practically inhaling this book, I have come to the conclusion that C.C. Wood doesn't write fast enough!
With her usual mix of mystery, romance, and side splitting humor, this latest edition to her Blood and Bone series is not to be missed!

Been a fan of C.C Wood since I got hooked on the Bitten Series... Boy has she done it again.
I simply could not put this down! The chemistry between Merry & Marcus was scorching and the sexual tension leading up to main event was nail biting. I loved both these characters, especially how Marcus was so easy to get along with and patient he was given Merry's past. I would definitely let Marcus in my dreams if they were all towards the later of what him and Merry experienced. :-). I am hanging on by a thread with anticipation on what happened with Callum. Looking forward for the next in this series.
