Being dominated was her secret desire…

A Fallen Angels book.

Alexia has no complaints about her job as an assassin in the Alliance, battling rogue vampires and demons. However, on a personal level, she has hit a sexual hiatus. Men from every race, every continent and every skill level have tried to bring her down—and turn her on. All have failed. Until a man with a body made of sin stirs her blood for the first time in over two hundred years. Azazel, a demon of the First Angelic Revolt, is one of Lucifer’s most prominent—and dominant—assassins. His current mission leads him to Alexia, a fighter like himself who lives in the moment with no promise of tomorrow. A sexy vampire assassin whose secret sexual desire is a perfect match for his…skills. His decision to give her exactly what she wants leaves them both hungry for more. But to delve into desires that might be best left unexplored, they’ll have to overcome a pack of rogue demons—and possibly Satan himself.

Dawn McClure writes contemporary, small town romance set in South Dakota. Having lived in Illinois, California, Italy, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado and Michigan, Dawn can safely say her favorite place to live has been South Dakota. The weather is wild and so is the land. The people are great - and they're a little wild too. The town she currently lives in is home to a scant three hundred people, which was what prompted her to write small town romance. Having made the move back in 2009, small town living took some getting used to, but there's just something about a quiet country evening you can't get anywhere else.

Ugh. Interesting premise - the idea of a vampire assassin hooking up with a fallen angel, but the characters are flat flat flat. Alexia spends the entire time talking about how she needs a guy to dominate her and how she's soooo sex deprived and how her girlfriends won't stop talking about how she needs to get laid and everything is just "Help me, I need sex!" Where was the tough assassin who had a job to do and got it done?
McClure's writing is stilted, filled with adjectives and her attempts at humor are simply boring. The novella is filled with cliques, like "Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it." The amount of time Alexia spends thinking (aka talking to herself so the reader can gain some background knowledge) could easily fill up 1/3 of the book.

I was hesitant for a nano second to read this book after glancing at the first few reviews. I am so glad I read it anyway!!! How refreshing to have a heroine who embraces her sexuality!!! She did not come across as desperate at all, rather, she had a need and a specific one at that, and wasn't afraid to have that need met. I loved that she was vulnerable without being ridiculously whiny. Great read!

Great story! New twist on vampire paranormal romance. Demons, fallen angels and vampires all battle in this great adventure filled with humor and a steamy romance. Alexia and Azazel are two unlikely souls who find each other and are faced with choosing the world they've known for centuries or breaking all the rules for true love.

Wonderful debut novella! The hero was hot, the heroine was kick-ass and there was enough fast-paced action and humor to be a real page-turner. I only wish it were longer! Can't wait to read more from this exciting new author!

5 star premise. VERY interesting.
3 star writing style.
3 overall because I found it a bit repetitive and thought the author could've done more with plot and emotional intensity.

I don't love the story, nor do I hate it. I just liked it. I enjoyed the main protagonist as she is the epitome of a BAMF, the writing isn't bad, and the plot kept me interested for the most part. One complaint I have is the falling in love part between Azazel and Alexia. I felt the "being in love" part, but not the "falling in love" part if that makes sense (though I suppose it doesn't to those of you reading this review). Let me see if I can explain this clearly...I guess it's just that I didn't feel that process of watching the two fall in love like I usually do in other romance novels. It just felt like it was "Hm...maybe he's/she's the one" then the affirmed "He's/She's the one" with nothing in between. Sure both have explained what they loved about each other, but I felt that the list of things they said that they loved about each other fitted more to a couple that had a period of time to fall in love, not fall in love in like a day or two. Then again, this story is a short story so I'm not surprised about feeling the rush. But Dawn McClure executed it well enough that it didn't drive me bat shit crazy.

It also kinda bothered me that Kelsey's rescuing was kinda put behind the romance aspect of the novel. But again, I shouldn't be surprised since the synopsis of this book does only mention/focus on Alexia and Azazel's developing relationship. I was also a bit uncomfortable with how romantic Azazel and Alexia described their love for each other. It seemed strange having such deep romantic words/thoughts come from two people who are bad asses. I know this confession of love is there to reinforce how much they truly love each other and the combination of bad ass persona+romance makes their love that much more evident, but maybe it could have possibly been handled in a different way? I don't know. Nonetheless, despite a few dislikes I have, the story is worth reading depending on your purpose for reading it. If you want a short paranormal romance book filled with some steamy erotic scenes, this book is for you!

Alexia has been an assassin for the Alliance, the vampire organization that keeps humans safe from all rogue vampires, for 800 years, and she has never met a vampire or a demon that could beat her, and that does nothing for her sex life. She longs for someone to dominate her, going to bed with a man she can defeat doesn’t appeal to her at all. However, she meets Azazel , an angel who fell in the first angelic revolt and one of Lucifer’s (or Luc to his friends) elite assassins, and sparks fly as she realizes that he may be the man she has been longing for. However, there is a group of demons on the loose and they have Alexia’s friend, and it is there job to get the demons back to hell and her friend back in one piece.

I really wanted to like this as I liked the premise and the idea of the world that Dawn McClure had created; however, I just couldn’t get myself to like any of the characters, not even the mouth wateringly hot demon Azazel. Although this was an only a novella, the characters were flat and they fell in bed and in love far too quickly and I just didn’t buy it. But the good points were that I liked the world it was set in, and the division between vampires and demons, and the demons from different revolts.

Unfortunately I just didn’t like this book and I imagine that it is one that I will forget quite quickly now that I have read it, which is a shame as I liked the general storyline, just not how it was executed.

This book was a quick read and I think because of that it made me feel like I was reading the book in fast forward. The relationship between Azazel and Alexia didn't seem very realistic because of the minimal time they spent together. They both seemed to have little growth as individual characters and in their relationship together, everything was a little bit too forced. An Angel and a Vampire getting together was an interesting idea, it was just not executed as well as it could have been. I found myself uninterested in what happened to Alexias friend she was trying to save, but I did love the intimate scenes between Azazel and Alexia. Having said all that I did enjoy this book, I recommend it for people wanting a quick read and some steamy sections, just don't expect to be blown away by an amazing plot and deep characters.

i'm surprised by some of the mediocre reviews, given how much utter crap is out there right now within this genre. is it the most perfectly written book EVER? with the most awesome h/h and storyline EVER? no. but absolutely worth the price, which with my volume of reading is a major plus.

normally, don't care for the whole angels thing. maybe its my strict catholic schoolin', but just prefer angels to stay in those weird christian oriented fiction. but i have to say - did enjoy the idea of fallen angels and demons, et al knowing each other. makes sense, when you think about it.... liked seeing lucifer as less of a grandiose devil figure, and more of a business man.

already read the book that follows called 'asmodeus'and will track down others by the same author.

Keep in mind that this is an adult book, and there are explicit details!

Azazel is the first book in the Fallen Angel series.

Alexia has been an assassin for the Alliance, the vampire organization that keeps humans safe from all rogue vampires. She longs for someone to dominate her. Then she meets Azazel, a fallen angel who is Lucifer’s elite assassins, and sparks fly.

I liked the premise and the idea of the world. It was a quick but fun read.

I enjoyed this book, but I don't think I'll continue the series. If you want a short paranormal romance book filled with some steamy erotic scenes, this book is for you!

Two words: loved it.

I loved how Azazel and Alexia connected almost immediately. Their similarities attracted each other and love bloomed after the initial lust. (I'm a sucker for this "soul-mate" type of love.)
I loved each character's personality. Azazel was the "strong-but-not-silent" type (hahaha). He had a sense of humor and shared it. His POV always found a way to make me laugh. Alexia was bad-ass and let everyone know it. In fact that kind of bugged me. She practically screamed it to everybody. But I did like how she was a fighter. The secondary characters were amazing as well. Loved Jade

Overall. 4 stars
A quick but fun read. Ms. McClure knows how to expertly write a (short) book that has fantasy woven into the very fabric of the story.

Azazel is an urban fantasy cross over from a paranormal romance. Sure, there are some pretty steamy sex scenes, but the plot has enough intrigue and suspense to round it out and give it a really nice urban fantasy feel...

This was a short, quick read. Nothing too spectacular.... and definitely one of those insta- love novellas.
At first I was getting a bit annoyed because I thought it was way too similar to the Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh. But then I realized that this book actually came out first, so it was just unfortunate that I happened to read Guild Hunter before this one.

It was a really good book and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It was good to see vamps and demons working together, and it helps that the men are "leave-your-husband" hot :D

Started out real good!

(attention, spoilers ahead)

Both main characters Lexie and Azazel had great potential - finally a story about two assassins true to their reputation - a love story about villains!

Wait - villains? As in evil? You would think so of a demon assassin working for Lucifer and a vampire assassin working for a (maybe not so good?) fallen angel. I think I was misguided... since they protect humanity and would never do harm to the innocent, God forbid!

But, hey, at least they are ruthless killers with skills and a hilariously good repartee. And not forgetting the undeniable attraction and the crackling passion between the two *hot*

But, unfortunately, that changed. Their badass/tough and cool/cold-hearted demeanour faded more and more and both Lexie and Azazel softened (for lack of a better word) towards the end of the book. They also show a growing inability to handle their newfound emotions towards each other and especially Azazel - a centuries if not millenia old demon - acted very infantile *sigh*

The story itself was rather weak and could have been told in a matter of the chapters. Very disappointing :-/

Well, to get a conclusion, I really enjoyed the story and very much liked Lexie and Azazel anyway - thus the 4 stars. I just love stories of the (supposedly) evil characters of this world. And love stories with stereotyped confessions. And strong men who want to protect their women. And passionate love making. And love. Sorry, I'm an awful softy :(

So, if you like a story about an emotionless demon finding love in an equally strong-minded, independent and merciless vampire and you can condone the weak plot and the change in character, this book is an absolut must-have for you! :)
