Ashleigh: A creative, free spirit and loyal. But Ash is tormented by her demons and a past that refuses to be laid to rest.
Jessica: Perfect wife and loving mother. But although Jessica might seem to have it all, she lives a secret life built on lies.
Grace: An outsider, always looking in, Grace has never known the love of her sisters and her resentment can make her do bad things.
When Ashleigh goes missing, Jessica and Grace do all they can to find their eldest sister. But the longer Ashleigh is missing, the more secrets and lies these women are hiding threaten to tear this family apart.
Can they find Ashleigh before it’s too late or is it sometimes safer to stay hidden?
A real roller coaster ride of a story. One that when you start you just can't find a way to stop reading. I finished this last night or rather in the wee hours of the morning. We begin learning about the life of Jessica, a strong, well put together mother and wife. Doing everything she can to keep her life as perfect as it can be, unfortunately her big sister does her best to turn Jessicas well-crafted life upside down. I began feeling sorry for Jessica as it seemed she worked so very hard to keep everything on track. She didn't deserve the drama and turmoil that occurred when her sister went missing. Once I began to read Ashleigh's story, I found myself almost heartbroken for her. She had had so much disruption in her life at such a young age. her life contained many "demons" that she tried to silence with over drinking. The more I read about the sisters the more enthralled I became with them...and then came the addition of a third point of view and another sister...Grace. She was almost an outsider to the family drama, yet still was a very large part of all that had happened. The story takes the point of view of all three sisters. As we get further into the story more and more secrets are revealed and all three sisters are still connected to them. Now we are learning that no one is really what they appear to be, they all have secrets to hide. This was such a compelling story that I found myself hooked from the start. And the end? I never saw it coming. The author gets a word of thanks for keeping me reading and very, very surprised at the end.
I WILL FIND YOU is a story about two sisters Jessica and Ashleigh; and their half-sister Grace, born from their father's affair with his secretary. When Ashleigh goes missing, Jessica start to search for her. Grace also reluctantly join in. They discover that their family have many secrets, some of them more than twenty years old....
Another "gripping" thriller with multiple narrators and timelines. At first it sounded interesting but I dislike when author is using misdirection. I found the characters quite annoying and strange, hard to relate with. I never felt invested in any of them. Ah, perhaps it was good considering how some of them turned out!
Ashleigh: Creative, free spirit and loyal. But Ash is tormented by her demons and a past that refuses to be laid to rest.
Jessica: Perfect wife and loving mother. But although Jessica might seem to have it all, she lives a secret life built on lies.
Grace: An outsider, always looking in. Grace has never known the love of her sisters and her resentment can make her do bad things.
When Ashleigh goes missing, Jessica and Grace do all they can to find their eldest sister.
What a suspense filled, fast paced and thrilling book this is. The plotline is intriguing. There's plenty of twists to keep you guessing. All the sister's have secrets. I was engrossed in what was occurring in their lives. I loved the authors writing style. I was guessing all the way through. I never saw the ending coming. Loved it.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #AmandaRigby for my ARC of #IWillFindYou in exchange for an honest review.
I Will Find You by Amanda Rigby and Sally Rigby, is about 3 sisters (Ashleigh, Jessica, and Grace) who all have secrets. Ashleigh is an artist with a fly-by-night personality. She receives serious threats and then disappears. Her sister Jessica, begins searching for Ashleigh. Grace is not as eager to jump in because she is a half-sister and the family has never accepted her. Will Grace join the search? Will sisterly love conquer all and bring forgiveness between the 3 sisters or is Ashleigh dead?
This book is like driving down a curvy road in a snowstorm. You definitely can't see what's ahead. Sit back and enjoy some terrific cat fights along the way! I was engrossed in the story till the last two chapters which seemed to slip off the rails a little bit. I did figure out some of the ending, but not the manner that it played out. It was a huge plot twist!
I Will Find You will be published March 15, 2022.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books, for allowing me to review this e-book. I appreciate it very much!
Grace, Ashleigh and Jessica are sisters. One day Jessica takes a call from Ashleigh’s landlord suggesting that Ashleigh might be missing. Told from the points of view of the three sisters at different points in the timeline, the story is swiftly paced. A twisted tale of murder and mystery, I Will Find You delves into the complexities of trauma, addiction and abuse and the secrets and lies that can arise. Full of surprises, I foresaw some occurrences but the ending was totally unexpected. A terrifically good read.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Boldwood Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
I loved the writing style of this book, really great and engaging to read. The mystery of this book was great too and really kept you on your toes guessing all the way through.
Je ne savais pas que le pseudo de l’auteure dissimulait en fait deux auteures différentes, mais je me suis lancée avec plaisir dans ce roman que je ne connaissais pas.
Ashleigh a disparu.
The premise of this one sounded exciting; three sisters and a terrible secret. The eldest sister goes missing and the other two do all they can to find her. In the process, the family secrets are unearthed and their family comes apart at the seams. Are they they able to find Ashleigh before it’s too late?
Fair enough, but I was not expecting to feel so uncomfortable reading about content I wasn’t expecting. Our world today is full of triggers, most of them uncontrollable. When I sit down to some enjoyable reading time, I want the right to choose if I want to be subjected to the content. I want to feel validated. If you don’t mind reading about child abuse, self-harm, and addiction mixed in with reading about murder, suicide, lies, and hidden secrets, then you should be ok.
The multiple timelines and multiple points of view were handled well, as was the tension. The ending was excellent. The authors explored that oftentimes there is more to a happy family or perfect relationship than meets the eye.
Amanda Rigby is the nom de plume of the writing partnership between Amanda Ashby and Sally Rigby.
I was gifted this advance copy by the author duo, Boldwood Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I WILL FIND YOU is the second psychological thriller by co-authors Amanda Ashby and Sally Rigby and, although I did enjoy it to a point I didn't love it as much as their debut "Remember Me?" which was pretty phenomenal. I guess I found the premise a little misleading as I kept waiting for Jessica and Grace to band together to try and find Ashleigh which of course, never happened. Misleading premises are a pet hate of mine as they tend to make you think the story is going to be one thing and it ends up entirely another which may be all good an well but considering it's that which generally entices the reader into reading the book. Thus expecting it to be completely different from promised is incredibly frustrating. Therefore this books falls into the didn't love/didn't hate category.
So we have three sisters from two different families who share a father, all of whom have multiple layers of issues.
Jessica - perfect wife and loving mother. While she might seem to have it all, she lives a secret life built on lies.
Ashleigh - a free spirit, loyal to a fault but tormented by demons and a past from which she cannot escape.
Grace - the outsider always looking in, she has never known the love of her half-sisters and she bears a resentment for what was denied her.
Each of these women have troubled lives and each of them affected in different ways. But none of them realise how their lives are going to collide when what ensues is a deadly game of cat and mouse when Ashleigh suddenly disappears.
Jessica has a seemingly perfect life as a perfect wife, loving mother and a thriving career as a corporate lawyer. She works hard to keep the picture perfect life in place and vowed to give her twin girls a better life than the one she had as a child. A distant mother who was quick to remarry after her beloved father's untimely death in a car accident twenty years ago changed her whole world forever. And then she receives a phone call from her sister's landlady to inform her that she's not seen Ashleigh for five days as well as being three weeks behind on her rent. Jessica is quick to make restitution before heading to Ashleigh's bedsit in the hope of finding some clue as to her sister's whereabouts. Her husband, Henry, is not so sympathetic.
For twenty years, Ashleigh has tried running from the past that continues to haunt her, attempting to find solace in alcohol and drugs. Surviving the car accident that claimed their father has sent Ashleigh down a spiralling rabbit hole with no end for two decades. And now it seems someone knows her secret and is threatening all that she has left. But she only told one person - her closest friend. Surely they wouldn't have betrayed her...would they? But the chilling messages that have been left for her suggest otherwise. Could this be linked to her disappearance?
Grace is the family's dirty little secret....or rather, their father's. She is the result of an affair with her mother for whom he promised to leave his wife and daughters...and never did. Grace became the "dis-grace" of shame. She was six when their father died and her whole life she has been denied the love and recognition she deserved, tucked away out of sight and out of mind.
And then a body is discovered...and the police believe Ashleigh cold be responsible. Her fingerprints are found throughout the crime scene and she has disappeared - surely the sign of a guilty person? A TV appeal with Jessica in front of the cameras begging Ashleigh to contact her is plastered across the networks in the hope her sister will see it. But is Ashleigh truly missing or hiding out of fear? And what are the secrets all three sisters are hiding and will they ever be revealed?
A twisted tale of murder and mystery, I WILL FIND YOU then delves into the complexities of addiction, trauma and abuse and the secrets and lies that follow. It is addictive reading, like a car crash you can't look away from, and while I did figure a few things out along the way, I did not see the biggest reveal of all. That came out of nowhere for me.
None of the characters were likeable. Jessica was a snob, as was her hubby Henry, Ashleigh was a train wreck of her own making and Grace was resentful of a life she thought she deserved. I found it hard to sympathise with any of them.
This book is riddled with possible triggers - sexual abuse, addiction, self-harm, suicide and alcoholism - so please take care to keep yourself safe if you think these would be too much to endure.
The ending of the book appeared to come out of nowhere. One moment the story was flowing freely building up to a conclusion when suddenly...it's over. Just like that.
A quick read, I WILL FIND YOU is fast-paced and suspense-filled throughout. It is definitely intriguing but didn't WOW me as the previous book did. Still definitely worth a read.
I would like to thank #AmandaRigby, #Netgalley, #BoldwoodBooks and #RachelsRandomResources for an ARC of #IWillFindYou in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this though not as much as the debut by this author pairing....I misunderstood the whole synopsis, I think, which is why I think I struggled a little. I read it as Jessica and Grace banding together to try and find Ashleigh, and therefore I was waiting and waiting for them to get in touch with each other in the back of my mind all the time, which just didn't happen !! I also tend to lose patience a little with addicts or alcoholics and therefore found myself a bit irritated with Ashleigh, more than once. However, that isn't the authors' fault, just my preference. Some of Jessica's habits were decidedly unsavoury as well, which I wasn't keen on. The back story relating to all that's occurring in the present is an interesting one and certain bits I guessed at but there was an almighty shocker as well I did NOT see coming !! It held my interest and I look forward to their next offering. I was gifted an advanced copy so any errors I'm forwarding on directly.
Holy Fluff! What the mother trucker did I just read?! 😳 I mean... While I had an inkling to a few things along the way that I was right about, I certainly didn't see some of the bigger revelations! This was an amazing mix of thriller, mystery & suspense! I couldn't get enough. What a ride! Two sisters; Ashleigh, Jessica & half-sister Grace all have secrets. Ashleigh has a past that won't stay there & ends up going missing. Jessica is doing everything she can to find her, but family secrets are making it difficult. A body turns up that police believe Ashleigh played a part in. Is Ashleigh truly missing or is she hiding as it's safer? What kind of secrets is everyone holding and will they come to light? Whoa double whoa! This was a deep, twisted dark book of lies you can't believe. I couldn't read fast enough to find out the next secret and revelation. Geezus the psychological craziness in this novel was unreal!
Thank you to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for this ARC. Release date: March 15, 2022
I'm not sure why, but I had some trouble with this one. It took longer than usual to finish, and I couldn't find ANYONE I liked. Or felt sorry for. Or could relate to. But I always, except maybe two or three times in my life, HAVE to finish.
I Will Find You is a psychological thriller book that feels very real & raw as it deals with the complexities & realities of addiction, trauma & abuse. Then, it throws in a missing person & a murder amidst all the secrets & lies to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the book.. It involves a trio of sisters that are all hiding various secrets as they try to navigate their lives, including the aftermath from the death of their father from their younger years. Then one sister goes missing & there is also a murder. It switches points of view between the trio of sisters to give you an understanding of each, while it also leaves you with questions of who has done what & why? All of their lives, circumstances & choices have created an Inter-tangled web of deceit & lies that then produces chaos of epic proportions. Around 40% of the way through, my eyebrows shot up in surprise & my intrigue snowballed from there. I was also surprised by the ending, which I always love. I appreciate not being able to figure it out.
Please check trigger warnings. This book deals with, mentions and/or contains addiction, self-harm, alcoholism, suicide & sexual abuse.
Massive thanks & appreciation goes out to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book.
I Will Find You is a psychological thriller than encompasses a family with multiple layers of issues. I really enjoyed the mystery aspect as the book went along, routing for the main character despite her flaws, but found the ending to fall a little flat. Overall the book was a decent read but it has many CWs to be wary of before picking it up. Thank you Boldwood Books for the ARC on netgalley!
I read the synopsis for ‘I Will Find You’ and I was immediately intrigued. The story sounded like the sort of dark and twisty read that I enjoy. Well it was certainly all that and so much more because I really enjoyed reading ‘I Will Find You’ but more about that in a bit. I have to admit that it took me a little while to get into ‘I Will Find You’ but that has more to do with the fact that I was tired and finding it hard to concentrate when I started reading the book than anything else and cannot be taken as a criticism of the author or story. Once I got into the story I found it increasingly difficult to put the book to one side for any length of time. I found the dynamics of sibling relationships and rivalry to be most interesting and intriguing I got the distinct impression that each sister was keeping something hidden. I had my own suspicions as to what was going to happen so I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down the wrong path entirely. The further I got into the story the quicker the pages seemed to turn. All too quickly I reached the end and I had to say goodbye to the three sisters. I found ‘I Will Find You’ to be a gripping and at times tense read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. ‘I Will Find You’ is well written. I love the way in which the author grabs the reader’s attention and entices them into what proves to be one heck of a story. For me, the story was more of a slow burn type of story. The story started slowly but the story gathers momentum as the tension levels increase. At times, reading the story felt like being on a rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. I love the way in which the author makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. In short, I did enjoy reading ‘I Will Find You’ and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Amanda’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.
This was such a fast paced read. I honestly didn’t know where the next chapter was going to take me! This book was such a wild ride.
I thought the plot was so gripping, I couldn’t put it down! The storyline was very unique and The characters were intriguing. The plot twists were so shocking and so unpredictable. I can’t even begin to discuss the ending, I absolutely loved it.
I thought the characters were interesting. We got to read in the perspective of the three sisters, including past and present timelines. I thought this was great to be able to read about the mystery that is happening currently and then to find out how each sister is feeling. It is so interesting finding out how everything linked up, I think I was in a permanent state of shock.
I loved reading this book. The writing style was so easy to read and I literally fell into the book. I thought the author created an amazing mysterious setting for this book, it definitely brought the story and characters to life.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book to all thriller/mystery lovers.
This book revolves around the lives of two sisters: Ashleigh & Jessica, and their half-sister Grace - all of them have secrets. Ashleigh, an artist by profession has a past that she is unable to let go of, and ends up drinking a lot and also a drug addict – when she goes missing Jessica, a lawyer does all she can with the help of the cops. A body is also found implicating that had something to do with Ashleigh’s disappearance. While Jessica is all for helping find Ashleigh, their half-sister Grace doesn’t really get involved as she has her own secret to hide from everyone. This was a quick paced read, and I loved every bit of it. Thanks to Boldwood Books & Netgalley for approving the ARC.
Review I've been lucky enough to read another of Amanda's books and I loved this one just as much.
I thought I had the book sussed and the huge curveball towards the end was brilliant. It really was the perfect ending.
The book flowed well and really kept me invested. There are a few trigger moments in the book and if you want to know what they are please do message me.
I'm looking forward to reading more of Amanda's books ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Reading Between the Wines book review #108/115 for 2023: Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷 Book: I Will Find You Author: Sally Rigby & Amanda Ashby Available Now!!
Sipping thoughts: Great mystery with a great reveal. Secrets can be so deadly and this is no different. Once Ashleigh goes missing, so many secrets are revealed but that isn’t anything compared to when she is found.
Cheers and thank you to @BoldwoodBooks and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @IWillFindYou.
This is a fantastic read. It kept me wanting more and I couldn’t read it quick enough. So many twists and turns and the did keep me guessing. Perfect psychological thriller, highly recommended this.
In the world of the thriller reader there is always a plethora of books which promise a unexpected plot twist that the reader will not see coming, some of which deliver on that promise whilst others don't leaving the reader feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. Well, the plot twist in I Will Find You is so clever and unpredictable that I don't think the combined minds of the greatest detectives scattered throughout literary history would have been able figure it out.
The first 28% of the story is written in chapters which alternate between the perspectives of sisters Jessica and Ashleigh, two deeply flawed individuals who lived on opposite sides of the social divide. Jessica was a lawyer who lived in a luxurious house with her husband Henry and their four year old twin daughters whilst Jessica was a artist who lived in a filthy flat, very often struggled to pay her rent and was addicted to drink and drugs. In Jessica's mind, her older sister was reckless and her erratic and unpredictable behaviour often caused disagreements between Jessica and Henry who wasn't exactly a very likeable individual and had no patience or compassion for people like Ashleigh. His attitude was a sadly realistic portrayal of a issue that has existed for decades, the willingness of certain members of society to dismiss and very often mistreat the less fortunate among us. They don't stop to think that there might be more than one reason why a individual has chosen to live the life that they lead and have found themselves falling under the control of certain addictions.
As the story unfolded, we discovered in chapters that slipped back in time by twenty years, the traumatic events that had caused so much damage to Ashleigh's psyche. Despite her issues, Ashleigh was still Jessica's sister which was the reason why she was always prepared to come to her older sister's aid including paying her rent arrears. Therefore it was due to late rent payments that Jessica received a phone call from Ashleigh's landlady and subsequently learned that her sister was missing. In Jessica's chapters we follow her search for her missing sister whilst dealing with Henry's dismissive attitude, finding her own life being scrutinised by the police and trying to prevent her own secrets from being uncovered. In Ashleigh's chapters which were my favourite parts of the story, we were given a insight into her life before she disappeared, her daily struggled with addiction, the reason why she decided to go into hiding and witness Ashleigh form a uneasy alliance with Grace during her desperate search to uncover who was behind the campaign to destroy her life.
Grace, who is the third voice in this gripping thriller is Jessica and Ashleigh's half-sister and has spent her life resenting the other two women due to their apparently idyllic and lavish childhood and for growing up with all the luxuries that she had been denied. Grace was a complex, flawed individual who also had hidden secrets and I often felt uncertain about the reliability of her narrative.
What had caused Ashleigh to go into hiding? Who was sending Ashleigh and Jessica threatening texts and notes? Did Henry know more about Ashleigh's disappearance than he was letting on?
This is a fast paced, cleverly and intricately plotted thriller which captivates the reader from the first page and keeps you guessing until the mind blowing and totally unpredictable identity of the antagonist is revealed. There is a number of unexpected twists and turns as the extremely well written story unfolds and the author's pull together their characters and the various threads of their enthralling story. The plot covers a wide range of relatable issues and the cast of mainly unlikable and untrustworthy characters were authentic and realistic. I thought this was a gripping read and it is very very highly recommended by little old me.
Jessica has what appears on the outside to be the perfect life working hard as a corporate lawyer. A loving husband and two children complete her picture. Her sister Ashleigh is more of a free spirit and since their father died she has often taken to drink and drugs. She was in the car with him when there was a crash and only Ashleigh survived. When she goes missing it is often as a result of this- only this time no-one can find her. Ashleigh has been keeping a secret for twenty odd years, something she only told a close friend. Someone has been leaving eerie messages for her. Could this be a link as to why she is missing? I quickly got into this. There is a good mix of mystery and tension with lots of secrets thrown in for good measure. Jessica lived a secret life which is only really hinted at for most of the book. It is very well written and I found myself wanting to read ever more- to me a sign of a well thought out plot perfectly executed. A clever premise and one I didn't see coming. A brilliantly written page turner of a read.
This is the story of 2 sisters. Jessica is the favored one with the perfect life, a lawyer with the perfect home, perfect husband, and 2 kids. Ashleigh is the older sister, a free spirit artist and alcoholic who is missing. Jessica is determined to find her. Her husband just doesn't want anything to reflect badly on his family. During the development of the story which alternates between the present day with Jessica and 4 days earlier with Ashleigh we learn about the girls' relationship with each other and their father who died when they were young. We also meet the third sister, or half-sister, Grace born of their father's affair. The plot is well developed and twists and turns its way to a surprising ending. I received an early copy of this book from Sally Rigby, one half of the Amanda Rigby duo and as always I enjoyed it thoroughly. Sally Rigby writes UK crime mysteries with great characters that I love. Her friend Amanda Ashby brings a new dimension to the writing with her imagination. The corroboration is a success.
The story begins on 15th June where we meet Jessica Burton-Cartwright. She is 32 years old and has an enviable life with a good job as an in-house lawyer for Zenco, four-year-old twins (Eleanor and Florence), a wealthy husband called Henry (36) and a posh semi-detached house in Kew, London. Her father Phillip Burton had died 20 years before in a car accident and now she is remembering him on what would have been his 60th birthday. Then Sarah Hodges, her sister Ashleigh’s landlady, rings Jessica to say her sister’s three weeks behind with the rent and not replying to messages. The book switches to Ashleigh’s viewpoint on 11th June. Ashleigh Burton (36) hasn’t had the same privileges as her younger sister. After a difficult childhood, she then survived the car accident that killed their father and copes with life by drinking and taking drugs. She is an artist, struggles financially and lives in a bedsit in Brixton. The third viewpoint is that of Grace – Jessica and Ashleigh’s half-sister (same father, different mums) who is pregnant by her lover, who she suspects is married. The novel is easy to get into, it hooks you right from the first page. You are interested in the characters straight away, especially the differences between the three sisters, which is a major theme of the book. I read the first 28% of the e-book in one sitting and it’s the kind of novel I could have read in one go, if I’d had the time, because you want to find out what happens and how the story unfolds. Everyone is flawed and has their own secrets, so things are uncovered as you go along. It is a real twisty-turny story, with your loyalties going one way, then another. I guessed one thing, then that was swept away and replaced by another possibility – but oh no, I never saw those twists coming! What a shocker! I really enjoyed this book, I read it in about 24 hours and would definitely recommend it. 9 out of 10
Cancel all your plans because Amanda Rigby is back with a jaw-dropping thriller that will keep you reading until the early hours of the morning: I Will Find You.
Ashleigh, Jessica and Grace might be sisters, but they are as different as chalk and cheese. Ashleigh is a laid-back and creative free spirit, however, she is weighed down by her own demons and tormented by a past she can never escape. Her sister Jessica, on the other hand, is her polar opposite. She is the perfect wife and mother who would do absolutely anything for her family. But is her life as idyllic as it seems from the outside? Grace has always felt like an outsider in her family. Constantly shut out by her sisters, she resents Ashleigh and Jessica and her anger towards them makes her do some very bad things…
When Ashleigh goes missing, Jessica and Grace are beside themselves. They must find her and bring her back home – because the longer she stays missing, the bigger the risk that devastating secrets and dangerous lies will come out into the light and tear their whole family apart. Can they find Ashleigh before it’s too late? Or is Ashleigh safer away from her family?
You are meant to be safe with your family, but what if your nearest and dearest pose the biggest threat of all?
In I Will Find You, Amanda Rigby grabs your attention from page one and keeps you on tenterhooks throughout as she explores toxic family relationships, destructive jealousy and simmering resentments in a fast-paced and superbly plotted thriller.
Shocking, twisted and chilling, Amanda Rigby turns the tension and terror up to eleven in her latest psychological crime thriller, I Will Find You.
