From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Heather Graham comes a new story in her Krewe of Hunters series…
Angela Hawkins Crow awakens to find herself in total darkness. Despite her years as a Krewe agent, she is first seized with panic, but her life and her training kick in. She knows that she must stay calm and go back in her mind to find out how she got where she is…and where she might be.
Meanwhile, an eerie phone call comes in at Krewe headquarters, warning them all that Angela has been kidnapped, describing her ordeal, and lamenting the fact that she can't be saved.
But there is no such thing with the Krewe. In the dark and in the light, the fight is on.
Angela determines that she might know what has happened to her, and she is prepared when her kidnapper can't resist the temptation to check in on her.
By following his wife's expertise with research, Jackson discovers what just might be happening—and in the darkness of night and the silence of the graveyard, he'll risk everything to find the woman he loves.

𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 is a novella set around Halloween. In this novella we follow Angela and Jackson, a wife and husband, who happen to be working together on solving cases. In this story Angela and Jackson are working on solving a series of murders, with the help of their ghostly companions who are eager to help.
This was actualy the first book I read by this author and the first book I read in this series. It pulled me in from page one and I will for sure be going back and reading all the other books. There is quite a few of them to go thru, but I am excited to read them because I need more of Angela and Jackson. This was, in my opinion, a perfect little window inside this series that shows you what you can expect of it.
Overall, I recommend this book to all of my murder mystery, ghost, suspense and action book lovers.
It's Halloween again and the Krewe always seems to have something extra spooky going on at this time. This year is no exception as Jackson and Angela are trying to track down a possible serial killer who is hiding their victims in a mausoleum. There's so many twists and turns and possible suspects, it could be anyone. Luckily, they always have a little ghostly help with their investigations. Which will come in handy when Angela is kidnapped. Jackson and his Krewe will have to work fast to find Angela before she becomes the killers next victim.
I love the Krewe of Hunters series so much! The books are always fun and interesting and a little spooky. This book is a novella in the 1001 Dark Nights series/line. It's a full mystery, just shorter in length. A perfect lunch-time read.
Many thanks to Social Butterfly PR, 1001 Dark Nights, and the author for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
This is a novella set around Halloween, we follow Angela and Jackson who are one of my favorite couples in this series!
Angela and Jackson are working to solve a series of murders, with the help of their ghostly companions who are eager to help and have someone living to talk to, they are on their way to solving this mystery. Hopefully, before Halloween so they can take their kids trick-or-treating.
There are a lot of twists and turns in such a short book, and it kept me guessing. Angela doesn't actually end up kidnapped until almost the end of the book, so there is a lot of build-up wondering when that's going to happen, who did it, and how Jackson will find her.
I really enjoyed this installment in this series and can't wait to read the rest!
Descend to Darkness is another wonderful novella in the Krewe of Hunters series. It's close to Halloween and Angela Hawkins Crowe is in a dark, lonely space and she must think back and figure out what led her to this space. And will she found, or escape, in time?
Descend to Darkness is a suspenseful and action-packed story. The length of the novella was short enough to be read in minimal time, yet long enough to provide character development and allow a newbie to get a taste of the series. I enjoyed the author's writing style and world-building. I was able to visualize everything scene like I was there. Angela and Jackson are likable characters. Both are competent, strong, and capable investigators. The story was engaging and I enjoyed every minute.
It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to read about Angela and Jackson so this was a pleasant read. Now married with two children, Angela is on a case of Halloween murder when three bodies are found in a cemetery where they shouldn’t be. This leads the Krewe down a path that leads them to a drug ring. Someone is using old secret tunnels to smuggle drugs all around town and they’ve set their sights on Angela specifically. Thank goodness they didn’t actually burry her alive but hid her somewhere underground. It was so funny to read about her walking up to the group and the killer alive, and well. I was more happy to read about Angela and Jackson living their lives with their children. They also solved the mystery in time to spend Halloween with their children in a fun way. The way it should be when you have children.

It’s Halloween and that time of the year when ghosts, ghouls, imps and the odd homicidal axe murderer appears to terrorise the innocent or in this instance for Heather Graham to release a novella set in the Krewe of Hunters series and featuring favourite characters Jackson and Angela. What more could you want especially coming up to Halloween than a short mystery complete with ghosts, murder and haunted cemeteries.
This was a fantastic quick read that hits just the right spot. If you haven’t read any the Krewe books before then Descend To Darkness is a great introduction and if you have then enjoy catching up with some old friends.
This short novella includes Krewe of Hunters veterans Jackson Crow and his wife Angela, both FBI agents in a special task force where the members are sensitive to ghosts and often rely on them as "confidential informants ".
This story is short on words but doesn't skimp on a plot that includes murder victims displayed in a macabre scene inside a tomb, a timid eyewitness with something to hide, and a reporter that may or may not be helpful to the case.
While veteran readers of the series will appreciate the continuing saga of the Krewe, newcomers will still enjoy a thrilling stand alone story with a definite plot twist at the end; which is why I feel it deserves 5 stars.
Loved the story line and the characters! I'm so proud of myself, though. I figured out one of the suspects before the suspect reveal. I figured out the main one and when it got close to the end with the reveal I said "I knew it!". Heather Graham is definitely one of my top 5 favorite authors. When I started reading the Key West ghostly trilogy I knew I was hooked on her books. The ghost in that trilogy was a pirate and I believe his name was Bartholomew. Anyway, this was a fantastic short ghostly mystery. I love her books because she also blends in historical elements into her stories. Phenomenal author!!!
Any story with Angela and Jackson gets my two thumbs up immediately. Halloween is back and so is another short story geared to that theme. Angela is the focus here and the graveyard is the backdrop. The finding of the bodies was gruesome and the unveiling of the connections intriguing. Lots of personal touches with both sets of triplets, their spouses, the dogs and of course Mary who is the best aunt and babysitter of the Krewe. Great amount of action and case solving while talking about Krewe and their professional/personal relationships especially since this is a short story!!
As for now, this will be the last novel/novella I'll read of this series. I haven't seen anything else released yet. And with Angela and Jackson as the main characters in this novella, I wonder if this is closing this series - start with them and end with them.
Another inconsistency: this novel mentions “Philip Law” but in the previous novels his name is “Patrick Law” - this is eventually corrected in this novella
Overall, a bit of a "meh" feeling; intriguing, certainly!
The story line was okay while not as good as most of the Krewe books it was a quick but enjoyable read. I'm only giving 2 stars as a character mentioned was named Patrick in a previous book where he was one of the main characters. In this book they call him Phillip for close to the first half then changed it back to Patrick which as a big fan was really hard for me to get past to finish the book.
In this stand-alone novella, you can enjoy the story even if you haven’t read the 38 Krew books. Angela and Jackson are trying to figure out why there are recent bodies showing up in an ancient crypt. An excellent mystery that involves many characters that we know from past books.

Loved this book! Crew of hunters is very entertaining. Love that lots of them are in all the books. Heather Graham weaves very interesting stories that make you sad when they end and can’t wait for the next one!
Love the Krewe of hunters !!! Can't wait for next one. Usually I can't guess the killer but I did this time , of course it was almost at end that I realized who was the killer.
When bodies get found in someone else's place, someone else will have see the where, what and why of it. And put the baddies where they belong. After all all of the Crewe's children want their Halloween to be fun.
Revenge by a lady who is a world-class liar and one hell of an actress goes on a killing spree that all leads up to kidnapping and killing Angela Hawkins. The Krewe will need a lot of help in stopping this and their biggest help comes from the ghost of Colonel Clayborn.
An emotionally thrilling roller-coaster journey from beginning to end. Sweetly sexy adventure, filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists, fun family banter and thrilling passion.
